On a short road trip today doing some business and also picking up a couple of remote caches. Thanks for placing this rentdi29. I had previously travelled in this area for a day tramp but very pleased to come back today and grab this cache.
when I was a lot younger there was a very cool swimming hole in the river that I drove along today. Spent many endless summer days there back in the 1970's. having lots of fun.

For my personal challenge of working towards getting my calendar on GC.COM to be at least the same shade of green or darker I need to sign off at least 12 caches today. I won't grumble if I find one or two moreWinkRazz. Today I decided to go for a drive northwards from Lumsden up to Fiver Rivers and Mossburn.

A little detour off the Mossburn Rd to sign this one off.

Cheers for the cache.

Our tiki tour continues and we're now on our way to Queenstown. This was a short divert and the reason we like to cache, it's shown us a pretty road which we would have normally driven straight past.
Log book signable but damp. Dried out cache as best we could and returned.

It was interesting to see some beech trees growing on the flat during the drive in and I was more impressed by the larger beech forest visible up towards the headwaters of the valley. At least it hasn't all been displaced by Pinus radiata. Cache was quickly located.

Out for a drive leaving all the low cloud behind us in the south. Good gravel road to the cache and box was found at the first place we looked. Off for a drive around the mountain visiting some family members dropping off new season vegetables from the roadside stalls. TFTC

Feeling smothered by the cold damp and heavy clouds this season down home, took a peek at the district for a new cache with a blank field that fitted the bill for an easy park'n'grab with the muggle that didn't require a several hour tramp uphill. Sidetrip got organised to find some SUN! and essentially some UVB. The road had a new spread of gravel but no potholes which made for a smooth ride after the recent frosts had dried out the countryside. Only the surrounding mountains had dustings of snow on them and I had never been this close to West Dome before. Recent logging has changed the tapestry of the hillside but in leaving our run late enough meant not encountering any logtrucks, just farmers and feed-out wagons on the roads after Gypsy day. Wave!
The small cache was an easy find after the GZ was spotted much further away. Claimed our FTF's, threw in some swag and recorded the cache details on the GC book. Grabbed the goods in a new big baggy and rehid at the place. Coffee and scones at the Deer capital and a cruisey roundabout trip home visiting some family members further afield. Thanks J&D for the FTF and the dose of vitamin D Cool. I'll put the wooden coin to good use somewhere else real soon.
