pleasant walk collecting the information for this one, but no luck at GZ. reading the other logs indicates that I did not come prepared enough
snipsandco and I attempted this cache last night but the ladder was just not quite tall enough to have a proper reach and search without perhaps ending up paying a hefty toll for a fall.today we returned with weirdobiker's mega ladder and a much easier find was made.it was nice to meet the CO last night at your solstice event and thanks for this cache.
I have looked up at this cache for years, longing to get it but never with the right combination of people and equipment. That all changed on the Winter Solistice. One of the best things about caching is who you meet. The night before this adventure we gathered for the COs Winter Solstice event. We discuss this cache, we had tried it today with our rickety telescopic ladder with no joy. Scary scary up there on a wobbly ladder.Well, whaddayno, [@weirdobiker](https://coord.info/PR9Z606) Weirdobiker is there and she says two things that are magic to my ears. One: I havent found that cache. Two: I have a super strong and sturdy ladder, shall we meet tomorrow to get it?We arrange to meet in the morning, a lovely blue sky but very crisp air. Its funny, the larger the group the less noticeable you are doing something strange. We were quite a large group, some of us having previously found it, some of us previously tried to find it and some new. We stood around for a bit, assessed where the ladder should go and before you could say Jack Rabbit, up Weirdobiker went - wow, impressive! I cant really recall whether she found it quickly or not, there was a lot of chatter and Im concentrating on holding the ladder. The were cheers of joy once found signed and put back. The super sturdy ladder was packed up and more chatter before we were on our way. Thanks to Pam and Ben, this was great (oh, and not a bad D/T to add to the collection )
**Take a punt or pay the toll**The last time I was in Wangaratta was for the Jan 22 Mega. Not having the right equipment back then, it sat on my to find pile for quite some time. This morning I caught an early morning train here, as I was not going to miss out this time , especially since I knew weirdobiker was armed with her trusty TOTT. We congregated at GZ and stood around trying to spy the little blighter from the footpath. Secure footing was found for the TOTT, and before we could say mint tin, weirdobiker had shimmied up and was saying the magic words found it! Cheers and relief all round! Log signed and cache replaced as found. Thanks Jamin Appleford for the info on the punt and the placement of the hide. Cache on *Throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Explore. I was in Wangaratta for the winter solstice event last night, where it was decided that a small group of us would tackle this cache this morning. I had my larger TOTT with me which made the task a little easier. It was a very chilly and frosty morning however that did not put us off . It was a quicker retrieval than what I had expected and luckily no one came along as we were setting up, or making the discovery. Its great to be able to sign off on this one as I had worked out the coordinates a very long time ago and it is a very nice D/T too.
I saw this cache the day I arrived into town and it immediately perked my interest. Getting the final coordinates was the easy part then I stood staring up at gz a good while on a few occasions wondering how I might be able to....With an event held by a fellow queenslander nearby, I was all anticipation in somebody having a ladder on hand. I got lucky and after the event as we were all departing asked echocage if she happened to have a tott handy and was at all interested. Huzzah! I happily dragged it away and down the garden path where with a little bracing i made the climb for a quick find in the first place I put my hand! Thanks so much Jamin Appleford for hiding a multicache practically in downtown wang that's definitely a little bit different. My third 4.5/4.5 and first one that's a multi.
This trip is the...ADELAIDE MEGA TRIP (returning home)This cache-which challenge/ why?LGAD/THad a great time catching up with friends and caching ourselves silly at the Mega in Adelaide and now I'm wandering home to Brisbane.Had planned to go to a few places in the high country but a big storm sent me running for more open spaces. Hadn't been able to come to the Mega here so it was a new playground for me. Scanning the map I noticed an event on this evening as well as four virtuals and a couple of solved puzzles so I put the skates on to see what I could get done before the event. Was talking to Small Wombat after the event about this cache. He didn't have a ladder and I did, but wouldn't have tried this one without someone to hold it so we teamed up to do this one together. .After careful placement of TOTT, Small Wombat had the first try while i hung on. After an extra step up he was successful and we signed the log sheet.TFTC
Out with Grannan55 and Geodogs enjoying the beautiful river and refreshing my history of Wangaratta. Managed to dodge the paper wasps. Should be a 10, ha ha. Added a temporary log as the old one is full. All good here. Now, onto the next one for the day. TFTC
An interesting lesson in history enabled the coordinates to be ascertained while a younger set of legs made the climb and the cache was soon n hand and the log signed. I enjoyed my time with Team 737.

Day 2… We’re spending the weekend caching way through Kelly Country, aiming to fill in needed DTs, do some fun climbs and generally have a good time.
We’re caching between Glenrowan and Beechworth with a list we want to fill, we’ll call it a day when we run out of light!

Day 2 of our Ned Kelly Country roadtrip, Glenrowan -> Beechworth!
Today is the shortest drive of the trip, so that means lots of caching! We spent most of our day out grabbing particular caches at the NKH, around Wangaratta and of course, Beechworth… Lots to do and not enough time, so we’re just grabbing cache types, DTs and oldies!
OCW Icybeetas, after gathering a bunch of information for some final coords, we headed up under the bridge and made a nice quick find, another DT square for our 3rd loop! TNLN SL
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Jamin Appleford!

Rutherglen Mega - Easter 2023 - Day 5: Tuesday
Spent the day on a loop trip around Corowa, Yarrawonga, Benalla and Wangaratta.
Took me a little while to get my TOTT set up safely and stably. Once done, I made an easy find. Thanks!

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Jamin Appleford for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

The area I think the cache is at is currently closed off. So will try another day.
These waypoints were great locations to view the floodwater but as far as getting the cache goes . . . . . . [xx(] . . . not today.
Another interesting bit of history and reminder of times long gone. Wangaratta is doing a good job of its ‘heritage’ sites. Have over the last few years always known the D/T on this one was not a solo project for me and I needed a team so the MEGA is the perfect opportunity. Information collected some time ago. Had some luck here with a quick find given the enthusiastic mega tribes on the same missions. TFTC and the fun!
Caching in this area with Crank1 during the Mega event. Fortunately we brought the right tool with us. Jamin Appleford, thank you so much for placing it and highlighting this area.
One of the last caches while attending the Wangaratta Mega. Mr Poolpool got to use his TOTT and after close inspection Mrs Poolpool had the cache in hand. TFTC
I was very lucky to team up with a group of Sydneysiders who had a tall ladder.
This is a fabulous spot and well worthy of a favourite point for the story it tells.

Well looks like another ladder job. Once we had worked our way to the finals, we were slightly worried - not to mention very hot.
I navigated to a better spot to park the car and carry the TOTT> did we really need it. Well that will be up to the next finder to decide!!!!!!!!!!!
A mega jaunt with endeavour3 saw us caching this cache and writing in the log, then we moved on. A lovely place to explore. Today was an amazing day - what with the rare GPS Maze I scored 14 cache types in a single day!
Thanks to Jamin Appleford and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]

Got all the information required, had the correct TOTT, then just where....., yes Wazza9 went up the correct side, stamped log and replaced. Thanks to Jamin Appleford.
With coordinates derived, we decided to tackle this one this morning and carried our TOTT to GZ with Chamad and Karicka. It was great having a couple of Brisbane buddies with us.
The coffee across the road smelled terrific, but we were on a mission and so off we went.
A couple of various placements soon had us in the correct position, while in the meantime a couple of locals walked by and asked how many we had found during our weekend in Wangaratta?
They were very welcoming, definitely not geocachers, but curious nonetheless.
As we were just returning the log to the top, some cyclists came by who happened to be a group of Geocachers. Seeing the ladder was up, we shared the space and the ladder with them and allowed them to head up also. It was great to bump into them and to say hello.
Thanks jamin appleford.

Day three of the Wangaratta MEGA event and it has been an awesome time. I have really enjoyed my time here; the caches, the countryside, the events, the people, the history, it is more than I expected, thank you. Today is my last day here but there is still a lot of caching to be done before I leave.
This morning I was out caching with Karicka and Domsky. We first headed off early to walk out to Ned Kellys Hideout. We then scouted the area for further caches. This was a fun multi to do and we soon had a likely target. However the locals walking past seemed to know what the weekend was all about and gave us a smile and a quick chat.
With the log signed and cache replaced as found we were onto the next one.

Mega Weekend at Wangaratta, we decide to go ahead and glad that we did doing well fav from me. we had a great time finding your cache Jamin Appleford, thank you so much for placing it.
We had been wishing Roddy C a happy Birthday at the trombones event and thought we would try our luck at this one again. We really enjoyed collecting the information we knew nothing of back on the 26/6/21 but unfortunately we were not able to locate the hide. So we grabbed what we needed and headed off to GZ where there was a bunch of teams with ladder extended so we didn't need ours.
Being such a big group we thought we would sign as "vicmega15" (or something close to that, the old brain is not what it was) to save room in the log. Interestingly last time we looked we were on a different side so it may have been there all along.
Many thanks Jamin Appleford for a interesting hide and great history about this area, a favourite point from us.

Caching with domsky and chamad. Luckily for me we had the tott between us.
A good location for the final.
Well done telling the local community what was going on, we earned some simel and no strange questions.
Thank you for hiding this geocache Jamin Appleford

On a bike ride to get a few caches. When we came across some geocachers already there at GZ, (here for the Mega, all the way from Queensland) & with their help, they had the right TOTT! (Thanks Domsky) we soon had cache signed & placed back. TFTC
Should have logged this earlier as we have more forgotten the name of the team who arrived when we did but were much better preposterous with what was needed to actually retrieve the cache.

Found at the Wang Mega.
Highlights included:
12 cache types in 1 day, a record for us
6 A/L's completed - our favourites were the 2 gadget cache A/L's, thanks to all the contributors, totally enjoyed nutting them all out.
We finally got to tick this cache off the list and we got to use our TOTT we had brought for the weekend. Up scaled Mrs poolpool to search, find, sign and log. TFTC

With the Mega event being held in Wangaratta, The Rats, Hoojar, Wilbert67 and I headed south for the main event but also plenty of other local hides.
We tackled trails around Glenrowan on Friday, together with Beechworth and the HSS Series before spending time around Wangaratta on the Saturday.
A cracking cache with some interesting history.

Headed south with my caching mates, steeba, Hoojar and Wilbert to attend the on, off, on again COVID restricted Wangaratta Mega event...... credit to the organisers for persisting.
With us having limited time in the area, we tried to pack as much as we could into each day. From Glenrowan, to Beechworth, to Mrytleford, to Warby Ovens NP, to the streets of Wangaratta, we seemed to be on the go all the time. While the weather was too hot for caching at times we often found relief by cooling off in the river.
We found so many different types of caches, its a credit to all the CO's for providing the caches for everyone to find, whether they were new or old placements, we had a great time in Wang.
It was mega Saturday and this cache was part of my 12 types in a day. Glad we bought our TOTT with us.

**This Cache:**
I remember solving WP1 for this cache many years ago during my first visit to Wangaratta. I didn't have high hopes of being able to retrieve it given it's D/T and lack of a suitable tool, but all these years later and GZ was still sitting in my account!
Today we found it with the help of TeamJLBL (I can be seen climbing the ladder in their image attached to their log!)
The ladder we had was a tad too short, but with 3 Adventure Boys and Team JLBL, they planted themselves equally on each side of the ladder holding it straight for me to ascend!
It worked a treat, and we soon had the cache retrieved and signed!
Thanks! Pretty awesome to have this cache found after so many years!
**Today:**
Signed the log as **AB!** to save room, which stands for **Adventure Boys!**, which consisted of Loci612, Sui_001, DARKSIDEDAN and sebass19 during the Wangaratta Mega Event!
Day 2 of our mega trip!
The main goal of today was 14 cache types, the NKH series, everything MEGA related and lots of FUN in-between!
Thanks to all the CO's!

A nice multi wandering around, luckily we had the right TOTT with us to be able to get up to the cache
After heading to tassie for almost 3 weeks, we detoured to Wangaratta for the Victorian Mega to catch up with some friends that we hadn’t seen for months if not years. We caught up with Freddo and e.gregory1 for the duration of the weekend, travelling around the local areas finding many of the caches that were on offer. To save room in the log books we signed as FEG or FEGC.
A wonderful area and nice to have a look around in somewhere I had only visited for 20mins before.
Thanks for the cache

Budgie and I went to have a bit of a look at GZ before dragging out the ladder. The TOOLMAN had plonked himself in a chair with a Franks and was not moving until he'd finished it. I sat down with a drink too but Budgie was like a kid in a toy shop and couldn't wait. He took off with the ladder and had it set up when we finally arrived at GZ refreshed. Up he went and grabbed it immediately!
Thanks Jamin Appleford
I had been set to attend another Victorian Mega but the damn pandemic began and for obvious reasons one was cancelled and one was postponed. I was pleased the postponed Wangaratta event went ahead but have to admit I was still apprehensive about the COVID situation. Although attending all events, (except 1 of the CITOs) keeping distance was still a priority. I had a great time touring with 1TOOLMAN and Budgietas although there was an empty void where SSR should have been.
As well as Wangaratta, we visited The Paps, Mt Buller, Benalla, Glenrowan, Winton and even popped in to Lex country, having dinner at Brady’s Railway Hotel. Our find numbers were low but our laugh count was high so I call that a win!
Thanks Jamin Appleford

Found while attending the 2022 Mega event at Wangaratta.
I drove across from Adelaide with Freddo. We took a week to get there and back as we meandered our way around northern Victoria, camping mostly along the river and generally avoiding contact with other people as far as possible to minimise covid risks.
While at the Mega we teamed up with gridge98 & Co. Most logs were signed FEGC (ie Freddo, e.gregory1 and gridge98 & Co).
We targeted some specific caches of interest, but also took the opportunity to find other random caches opportunistically as we were passing. Most of the puzzle caches were solved prior to leaving Adelaide in preparation for the trip.
We managed to park very close by and carried the TOTT down for a fairly easy retrieval.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache.

The lure of a couple of extra icons (Maze and Locationless) meant that I was more keen than normal to attend a Mega Event. Covid issues asside, a plan was hatched, rehatched, changed and finalised to attend for a few days in Victoria with Steeba, Wilbert67 and The Rats. Another trip away like countless others that we have done before, and yet totally different, thanks to Covid.
The caches were excellent. The company, as always, fantastic. We find more than our fair share of Adventure Labs, as well as complting a few series. I think we walked away with 300 finds, not a bad haul. The laughs were endless, but that is to be expected on trips away like this.
Thanks so much to all of the cache hiders, and especially to the event organisers. I cannot imagine the hoops that you had to keep jumping through to get this off the ground. A special thank you for bringing the Maze Down Under!
Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Again thank you to all cache owners for their hides.
Cheers

Found on mega weekend. One of a bunch of caches found and logged. Ladder erected. Cache retrieved.
e.Gregory1 and Freddo decided to travel to Wangaratta for Geocaching Victoria’s first 2022 Mega event. The attraction of GeoMaze icon was just too tempting. We packed the Land Cruiser for a bubble environment. There would be some public exposure but we would be keeping it minimal. Fortunately we did not bother with any warm clothes. Fortunately we packed some Bushmans with +20% DEET. There were caches to find and we found caches. We saw a lot of interesting places and met the occasional geocacher or two in the field.
I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.
This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Our first day of Mega caching and we headed towards Beechworth to target some specific D/Ts for my grid. After a hearty breakfast, the Nutty November caches were on the list, followed by some challenge caches on the way back to Wang.
Attracted by the D/T on this one, we stopped in to collect the req info and soon had our TOTT deployed. Had some luck here with a quick find

What a fun adventure and certainly an unexpected DT bonus. Worked through the stages and found a likely spot for Crash to scurry up for a surpeisinglty quick maybe lucky find.

The Mega in Victoria I had always planned to attend, but due to covid changes I was concerned, I wouldn’t be able to due to work commitments. As these commitments cleared up, I planned to go over and catch up with GoosenEgg, Stainless Steel Rat, and 1Toolman while in Wangaratta for a day caching to attempt to find 100 in one day. As things turned out Stainless Steel Rat was unable to go, so I was invited to join GoosenEgg and 1Toolman for the entire period. 1Toolman collected us from the airport and we immediately drove to Victoria’s 1st Geocache. From there during the 4 days, we visited Wangaratta, Mt Buller, Albury, Wodonga, Benella, Glenrowan, and Beechworth (although we didn’t make the bakery much to 1Toolmans disgust)
The trip was less about numbers and more about visiting places that I had only driven through before. We did manage to complete the Ned Kelly Helmet series and find a great Earthcache at Murmungee Lookout and another cache at “The Paps” which gave tremendous views of the area. The GPS maze, which I must say was one of the greatest attractions was also attended as with another cacher I was first through on the Saturday Morning at 8.15. It was great to get this icon on my profile.
Of the trip, it was certainly hot and humid, but we really didn’t get rained on in any serious way, with the major storm passing through at night time, otherwise it was just hot or very hot depending on the time of the day.

We checked this one out while we were strolling around the Apex Park, however couldn't really see anything. As such gave it a miss and just continued our stroll.
After having a delicious Pizza dinner nearby, we drove the car are parked nearby. Taking our TOTT out of the boot, we had the place to ourselves and after failing in the first place, quickly found it after setting up in the second. Log file is getting full.

TFTC. We have had the final co-ordinates of this cache for quite some tim, but were never here with the correct TOTT. This morning after the welcome event we found somebody with the right TOTT. Quickly ascended and signed the cache in company with Liz and Bruce and Wollaston.
We were very lucky to tag along with geocachers who had the right tott.
Checked a couple of spots before finding the well-placed cache.
Nice to have our name in this log.
Thank you.

Down in Victoria for the long awaited (and necessarily postponed) Wangaratta MEGA, and a little holiday chasing the usual (oldies, counties and windmills). Just for something different we are adding ALs to the hit list and the graves of the regionally buried dead premiers. Lol the things we will do for a cache! Joined up today with some extras from the canberra crew. Always great when we can cache together. Thanks for the cache.

26,706. Found with minniek along with a lot more attendees of The Wangaratta (Mega) Event. I was honoured with winning the Official First To Find for the Mega Event - something I will treasure forever.
minniek and I have really been looking forward to The Wangaratta Event. The Victorian Mega Events have been so well run over the years, and with the 2021 (2022) version of the series being held around Wangaratta we knew it was going to be a fun fun event. We headed off from Goulburn at around 7:15am and after about 4.5 hours we arrived at the Mega camp grounds to set up site. This cache was found after finishing off the Ned Kelly's Helmet series then some around Glenrowan. At GZ we made a quick find once the TOTT was deployed. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.
Thanks Jamin Appleford !!

Looking forward attending the various activities organized during the Mega period as well as finding a variety of different caches during our time here while catching up with caching friends we have met over the years.
The weather has been hot for us Gippslanders, but very humid as well.
Our thanks to the Mega committee for the enormous amount of effort that has gone into organizing the event and to the local cachers for their placements

Tankengine, Youban and I were in town for the Mega this weekend and so today was starting to prepare for a big day tomorrow by solving a few problems and confirming the locations of hides to make quick finds and onto the next cache. We also picked up a few caches along the way. ??
This cache: We came and looked at the GZ yesterday and Tankengine thought he saw it, today though we had a ladder and climbers who went to the spot Tankengine thought and they found the cache. He felt pretty good about himself. Thanks to the team of friends who worked together to get this one. Tftc!!!

A long-awaited trip with fitzy_1965 to Wangaratta for the 2021/2022 Mega!
We headed off early from Goulburn today and arrived in Wangaratta just before midday. We only made a couple of stops along the way as our priority was to get set up then cache for the afternoon with our caching friends. Once set up we headed out with albida33, nibletricecakes, GLISS! and smittengranny collectively known as MiNiFiGAS. Our aim for the afternoon was the Ned Kelly Helmet and any other caches along the way before heading back to Wangaratta for dinner. Was a great light and sound show this evening, even got up close and personal with some of the rain in our tent. Let’s hope this doesn’t continue!
Thanks to all CO’s for their cache placement and maintenance.

Wangaratta Mega trip Day 2. It has taken quite some time to get this trip going so it is a great feeling to be on the road for a great weekend away with great caching with friends and new friends. Today was a day in two parts. I spent the morning with Nibbletricecakes, Gliss! & Smitten Granny doing as many of the city LAB caches as possible. So much variety there. We did a few of the caches we came across along the way. The after noon we were joined by Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK and headed down to Glenrowan to do the Ned Kelly caches. We also did the labs in Glenrowan before heading back to Wangaratta for a few high D/T caches. This was a great way to spend the day before the Mega !
When we got back to town there was time for two ladder caches. This was last for the day, and with the details worked out with no great problems, we were able to get to s spot that might hold a cache. We had to check a few spots before the cache was spied, but then it was signed and it was time for dinner before the storm hit.
Thanks for the cache Jamin Appleford

Today was the drive from Canberra, picking up a few good caches along the way and around the Wangaratta region.
Requiring an additional six multis in a day for a challenge that I signed today, I grabbed a few around town. Gathering the data, we headed to gz where a TOTT was deployed for assistance. Cache soon found and signed. A great spot. TFTC JA

There was interesting history associated with this multi. A huge, well pretty big group of geocachers, plus a couple of geodogs walked across the park from our first event of thIs MEGA weekend to the first location of this multi to collect the required information to determine GZ. They then proceeded to a lowly location. Someone had come equipped with the essential TOTT required to reach the cache. The log would not have been able to accommodate all those present, so we all signed in as part of the 9-12 Group. The few Muggles around were no doubt intrigued with what such a large number of people were doing here. Thanks for an informative and challenging cache!
