I cant change date back far enough on
Phone sorry Sad

So ive been BULLIED into logging my Mega caches by an unnamed SSRAT Of tasmania.
I am useless at logging caches but here it is,
We had a ripping weekend together caching Goose&Egg and SSRST all the way from Tassie.
Its great they come to Australia so often to cache !! Between setting up and showing off my Lab caches and also caching with the ultimate FTF HOUND Hunter999 we got a TON of caches and even more laughs.
Cheers to another Fun MEGA.
Sorry for generic 'blahh' logs but its a while ago.

All Parkville Caches have now been collected and archived.
Thanks to all the puzzle writers for their efforts, and the committee for their organization.
Lastly to all the finders, we hope you enjoyed the caches on Melbourne's bike trails.

#16604. Day 2 out riding the trails with Robmc in gale force winds, collecting another multitude of Parkville caches. 51 visited today but a few DNF's too. Finally adding some more smilies to the outstanding puzzles and challenges.

Thanks Wiser than Owls

Talk about leaving things to the last minute, with only days from the cut off date of this awesome puzzle series. Helped with an amazing sunny start, which turned into an overcast cool day that was perfect for caching.
There was a variety of easy, tricky and just plain why didn’t I see that hides with a constant stream of muggles slowing me down along a trail I had never ridden.
Log signed and replaced as found.

Thanks for Puzzlecache Puzzlers (Robmc)

Find No. 2901. Found with FUF009 at 2.46pm

A day trip to Melbourne with the bicycles on board to ride around the city grabbing the Parkville puzzles seeing how they are going soon.
We left home around 6.20am, got to Parkville unloaded the bicycles and off we went for our days adventure. It was a typical Melbourne day with all kinds of weather.
For us it was quite different getting around the city on our bicycles and travelling all the bicycle paths. By the end of our adventure we had peddled 32.5 ks and ended up with 65 smilies.
It was quite an enjoyable day, something different for us to do and one that we will remember for quite some time.
All the caches we found were in good order and the co-ords spot on which made most of them a quick find.

Find # 8570

Found with Tyred n Cranky
Seeing as the Parkville Puzzles are going soon, and that we had them all solved, we thought we had better load up the bikes and make a day of riding around the city.

We left home just before 6:30am and got back at at around 8pm. Inbetween we managed a good number of around 60 finds with the puzzle series and a few extras thrown in. And by the end of the ride we had peddled just over 30ks.
It was interesting seeing the city from the bike paths, its not our normal way to travel down this way.

I gotta say we had a typical Melbourne day too, from gale force winds and heavy showers to 10min later the sun was beaming down, making it hot and humid. But we ended the day all smiles and a great and intetesting new look on what the city has to offer (geocaching and bike path wize)

All caches were found in good order and with good coords unless stated.

Day 154

23-Oct-19
With the Parkville caches close to their expiration date a small team was put together to tackle the hides as our hometown celebrated a public holiday for the Geelong Cup. Our bikes were taken off the racks, helmets put on, sunscreen applied and we were off on this very warm day, riding our way through Melbourne and this series. Lots of laughs were had with ThePacman, anikano and Jacko83 as each cache was searched for, found and signed.
Thanks Wiser than Owls (Robmc) for the placement for us and others to enjoy for the Parkville Mega.

23-Oct-19
I have been slower in finding caches this month due to finishing off uni for the term. So when a little cache team was assembled to tackle these hides in Parkville I couldn’t say no. Weather turned out perfect and such a good way to get back the motivation for bike riding in this stunning area. Signed log as TJAP (Tritonz, Jacko83, Anikano and Pac-Man) for many of the logs today. All great hides. Sad to lose them off the map! TFTC

Out and about with LeeLee furiously trying to clean up as many parkvilles as we can before they disappear. Thanks to all the CO’s for the many hours of my life I wont get back!

Thanks ParkvillePuzzlers (Robmc) for placing this Regular Traditional - this is find 1629 for BFMC

Edward was so cute.
Set out after work this afternoon with BFMC on our bikes to collect some Parkville caches before they disappear. As we don't cache in the city much this has been on our to do list but time has nearly ran out so we thought we better get there as alot of work has gone into these caches. Thanks!

It was a really lovely ride today. The weather was barmy, all the bugs were out as too lots of people commuting home from work and doggies getting their afternoon walkies. Caches all found relatively easily and in good condition.
Some are signed as C&LL.

Thanks for all of these caches, puzzles and challenges.

23-Oct-19
One thing myself, Tritonz, Anikano and Pacman could not stop saying all day: 'i can't believe these are getting archived!'

Such a good series! All fantastic hides, great trails, and some tough puzzles. Really hope the idea is reconsidered and they can go on their own Smile Either way, great to get out today and knock the rest over with a very very early start from Geelong. We did several car shuffles, slapped on the sunscreen and pedaled all day. I have been wanting to check out the CCT trail for a long time now so this was a great opportunity to do that.

Thanks so much to all the CO's who put in an effort here on these caches. Superb effort for inner city, no annoying tricky micros either! Very Happy

Singing today a TJAP: Tritonz, Jacko83, Anikano, Pacman

Geocachers go to ground and gulp when a geocache is gone, but get a golden glow grabbing the goodies at a good groundzero.
No gulps here - Edward was home.
Thanks Parkville Puzzlers, Robmc and all the COs involved in the series.

***

I had chased many FTFs when these Parkville caches were first published. However the bulk remained unfound, and with the impending archival of the series there was now some urgency to convert as many of these as possible into smilies.
Early this morning we headed out in 30 degree heat, 4 bikes amongst the many thousands commuting along these city trails. Working out the logistics of the different starting points of this massive network of trails was a puzzle in itself. A sort of "Travelling Salesman Problem", a computationally difficult algorithm first formulated in 1930 that seeks the shortest possible route that still visits every point. Today in 2019 this "Travelling Geocacher Problem" was tackled with the benefit of an intricate 3-car shuffle to reduce doubling all the way back to the starting points, meaning we could just about visit (and revisit in some cases) the whole 120 caches in one day.
While I had solved the bulk of the puzzles last year, there remained a few I could not figure out. With the time pressure this week some team work and collaboration was required to come up with the required numbers in time for today's outing. And indeed teamwork worked well, with TheTritonz, Jacko83, Anikano and Pacman signing some logs as T-JAP to make more effective use of the logsheets.

Out caching for the day, MontsII and myself decided to divide and conquer. A diverse assortment of puzzles, and a pleasant walk. Thanks for placing the cache ParkvillePuzzlers (Robmc)

18-Oct-19
We took the opportunity to join up with like minded cachers and try to get more of these done before they are no longer. We found nearly all that we looked for and also picked up a couple that weren't part of today's main aim.
Made a quick find but I think we woke Edward.
Lovely day for a walk with good company, and have a catch up and a chat.
Huge thank you to all the CO's that made this possible. Sorry that is has taken us so long to get to them but we don't often cache in suburbia. A bigger thanks also to RM for placing them all for us to find.

*13 Oct 2019, Found @12:11 pm, Find # 3360.*

Out for a bit of a ride with dazzpte and skullracing on this nice sunny weekend. Having solved a good number of these puzzles and with a bit of a nudge on the others we formulated our plan and off we went.

We are making our way through these fairly quickly aiming to pick up as many as we can over the two days. Thankfully this one and many of the others found have not given us too much trouble. I think it might be time to upgrade the saddle or maybe I just need to get out on the bike a bit more.

Thanks to all those that were part of creating these puzzles and to the Parkville Puzzlers for placing them and keeping them going.

13-Oct-19
Found with Dazzpete, Jascat and The Geoprincess on a sunny weekend.
We solved as many of the puzzles as we could until our heads hurt, then we got a bit of help and a nudge with the rest, so after plugging all the right numbers into the pointing boxes, we came up with a plan of attack....and attacked it we did, with pens in hand.
The pushys were dragged out of the shed and about 100 cranky spiders were made homeless, and we were off at the speed of wobble for 2 days of fun and giggles...and sore bottoms, but no stacks. We only had a couple of technological glitches but luckily we had the eyephones as backup to get us in the area then we used the force.
Thanks to all the puzzle contributors that tested the grey matter, and to the Parkville puzzlers for putting all of them out and maintaining them, there were only a handful that were missing....cheers.

On a lighter note, we couldn't help but notice some bunch of clowns who called themselves "Extinction Rebellion" had spray painted their logo EVERYWHERE, on the ground, walls, pylons, equipment, all over the shop...…
Perhaps someone should mention to them that releasing hundreds of spray paint cans into the atmosphere isn't super good for the environment.....
…..But they all probably were just getting off on the paint fumes.....oh well, gives them something to do....

I was over this side of town today to try a few caches and sweep up some of the Parkville series that I hadn't got around to previously. I realised I needed to collect these numbers to help me with one of the puzzles so I made a small diversion to come by here today. After finding another nearby I walked on to this one. Made a bit of a meal of it before eventually spotting it in a fairly obvious location that I must have initially passed over! Clue noted and my 9th find of thirteen for the day. Thanks for the cache Robmc and to Geocaching Victoria for organising and placing this great series of Parkville caches.

In Melbourne today for a meeting so with some spare time on my hands I decided a few caches were in order. A quick find here. Many thanks for the cache.

15-Feb-19
On our way back to Tassie after picking up our son’s car in Brisbane. Taking our time but don’t have enough time to find every cache but just manly picking up puzzles we have solved, quick multi’s, virtuals and maybe an odd traditional.

Now we are in Melbourne so we have decided to focus on the Parkville puzzles and challenge caches that we solved before the Mega but couldn’t make it. This was a wonderful walk and the GPSr wasn’t showing me where GZ was but I soon honed in one it!! Clue obtained.

This was the second of three 'Escape from the Zoo' caches found today, on a lunchtime "train to Flemington Bridge and take a stroll" mission.

At GZ I was initially looking for something more Edward-shaped, but with spot on co-rods I found the only thing that was a bit out of place and opened it up to find the missing pachyderm, safe and sound.

Signed the log, photographed the clue. Thanks for the cache, ParkvillePuzzlers.

Out for the day with echidna44 to put some smiles onto these challenging puzzles. Echidna44 had already been here to pick up the clues. I needed to make them smilies while I was here. Nice easy find. Thanks for all your hard work here Wiser than Owls.

Melbourne, Day 2: Capital City - Upfield - Moonee Ponds Creek Trails

Started off today by renting a bicycle to take me around the trails of the city. Bike shop opened at 10 am, and I was already waiting outside for a bike. Got what I needed and headed off down the Yarra to the route planned for today. Today’s weather was great for cycling and picked up plenty of caches along the way, most predominantly from the Parkville series. Thanks for all the caches put out for the occasion and the lovely little brain teasers, too.

The following is the specific log for each cache:
Again, because of his size, really hard for Edward to hide anywhere else. The cache was easily found here and heading on after signing the log. TFTC!

The Melbourne Mega has been and gone so now the hardest part for me is to log all these great caches that we have found over the past six days. We have had six days of full on caching which started with a few high D/T caches in Ballarat using kayaks, ladders, etc the assault started last Wednesday 14th November 18 but not without a few mishaps that included a tree fall, a number of bike mishaps and numerous bloodletting. Some of us look like the walking wounded but you just have to keep soldering on as there is always another cache to be found. I also have to include the stiff legs from all the kilometres walked.
Most logs were signed BABS which stands for brisal5, AnyMules, Bushfire and S.A Sewer Rats to save space in all the log books. This will a generic log owing to the huge number of caches to be logged so I would like to thank all cache owners for the time and effort it takes to place these caches and also for the maintenance of the said caches.
Again thanks to all the cache owners that helped to make the 2018 Melbourne Mega the great success that it was, so now to look forward to St. Arnaud next year where you will be blown away with the quality of the hides.
Save up your favorite points as you will use heaps in this area.

Took me a while to find as I didn’t dig around well enough!

21-Nov-18
Today I decided to tackle the puzzle series on foot and manage to complete the northern and north west sections only. It was a big day where I enjoyed the scenery walking along the rivers and canals and talking to muggles as one rested along the way.

We would like to thank the ParkvillePuzzlers for their time and effort in publishing a variety of challenging puzzles and traditionals with a range of difficulty to test our skills.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Well its MEGA time again and plans were put in place with the FurfacesLL ladies for another weekend of fun and trouble Razz Had the company of one of the ladies just for the weekend however was lucky enough to have the company of FFLL#1 for the drive down, across the weekend, as well as a week in and around the Gippsland area. We attended a number of events, visited a number of Earthcaches, virtuals and a nice number of caches. Many challenges collected and many multis completed.

A nice easy find here, signed and replaced.

Thanks for the cache hide Wiser than Owls and the ladies of FurfacesLL for another great caching adventure away from home Big Grin

Time for another adventure to attend the MEGA in Parkville VIC. Plans were made with Rapidlywild to work on all the puzzles around the area before the trip and head down to this event together. Lots of fun was had collecting all types of caches over the long weekend/week which included puzzles, multi's, earth caches, labs, letterboxes, trads and even a couple of virtuals for good measure, (think we may have to invest in an e-bike).

No problems with this one.

Thanks for the cache ParkvillePuzzlers (Robmc) and thanks Rapidlywild for the giggles and another great adventure.
Sorry for the generic logs

Riding on from Genevieve we came to find Edward. It was very quiet on the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail which was great for cache finding. The first day of the Melbourne Parkville Mega event with the Godfather Freddo and gridge98, and we spent the day finding a few caches by car, learning about the SA Millicent 2020 Mega event, and then riding around the various river and rail bike trails collecting the Parkville caches. We ended the day by checking in to the Mega event, performing some lab caches, before having a nice cooked BBQ.

A cache found along this bike trail in a typical cache location. Nice day for riding and collecting these, thanks heaps for the work and preparation towards this cache! Cheers.

Apologies for the generic log below:

Away for the weekend with Freddo and Davidwazza to the Parkville Mega.
My first mega that I had attended and I had a really enjoyable time.
Some of the log books were signed with my name others were signed with just a G part of the group name, a combination of KBJGD.
We were happily joined by KB who was a machine finding a lot of the caches.
Thanks to the CO for all the placement of caches, the earyh caches answers will be sent in the coming days also.
We were very successful in finding majority of caches but some we DNF.

Happen to be in Melbourne for work and timers it to work with the Mega weekend. Extended my stay for the event.

Picked up SVKR_WA from his hotel around 6.30 and we headed out to grab some caches before hitting the event.
Met up with Dezzabills at the event and we all headed out on our bikes.

We worked on these puzzles on the lead up to Melbourne and happy we got this one sorted. It's a long way from WA so we were determined.

Wiser than Owls, Kyzabra found your cache Parkville Trad-01-Escape from the Zoo- Edward, on 17/11/18. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

Day 4 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne. Razz
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire once in Melbourne. Cool So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space.
Time to test out the bikes we brought with us and ride the Moonee Ponds creek trail. Razz

The puzzles had all been solved in the months prior to coming but that still left some work to do along the trail. [^]
Another quick find Smile

A long weekend escape from the Apple Isle had stainless steel rat and I hooking up with 1tooman on Friday to ride the Mooney Ponds Creek Trail, then out along the Maribyrnong River all the way to Avondale Heights finding as many of the Parkville puzzle and challenge caches (thanks sharkifan) as we could, along with some of the traditionals, a couple of multi caches, and some ‘ring ins’ (that had been there longer) as we passed by their hiding places. We rode from just before 9am through to 6.45pm with a very short stop for a ‘dirty bird’ lunch, and then headed off to the bowls event.
It was a big day riding with lots and lot of laughs, around eighty finds, a few catch ups with other geocachers along the way, and a very sore ‘you know what’ Red Face

One of the many escapees we found during the weekend as we tackled all "Parkville Mega" caches over a 4 day weekend with mogni, Aussie Mary, Aussie Mark, and at times Shane, Southern Cross Caching and John, TeamAstro.

Mega - Eve, the perfect opportunity for another bike ride on the city outskirts trails, seeking out smiley tokens to add to our collection.
Just one sleep to go before the 10 brave escapees can step out and enjoy the Mega!

Thanks to 'Wiser than Owls' for placing this cache on the geo-gameboard.

Another clue in the bag,.

What a great, no in fact a MEGA weekend!

Myself and gooseandegg had booked our accommodation and flights from Hobart many many moons ago and we both have spend late nights solving puzzles in readiness for the trip, a couple of days before we fly we still had no real plan other than having fun and catching up with cachers, but we got our stuff together and were as ready as we would ever be.

Leaving work early on the Thursday to get our flight we landed in time to grab a few caches before heading to the hotel to check in.

We were pleased it wasn't too hot on the Friday since we had a big bike ride planned thanks to Toolman we had bikes and a second car so we could leave one at each end of our planned route but this locked us into a ride from Paso Vale to Avondale Heights, with side trips to grab extra caches we signed most of the logs as "Team GTS' of "GTS" and must have covered 25Kms? By the end it was showing so we missed the last few so we could get to the bowls event as we were all starving hungry .... well this was where our plans went down the tube, all the ideas of having a nice sit down meal with fellow caches were off and it was only a chance meeting with some cachers we know that made us all fill a car and head off to a place we had passed on Racecourse Road while on our bike ride.
But as it turned out it was a great evening with 5 of us Tasmanian cachers on one table (unbeknownst to us some other cachers we know were in a another room) a great feed of streaks all round.

After a few caches on the way to the hotel it was sleep then up in the morning to head over to Parkville for a main event, we spent a far bit of time doing the labs and some local caches and the 2020 event before heading out to find a few more puzzles and challengers, this was cut short when the TOOLMAN got a call that one of his lab caches had been damaged so we rushed back via Bunnings so we could help fix it up.
The evening was spent grabbing a few more caches with us getting to sleep after 1am due to solving a couple of puzzles.
Sunday we spent a bit of time at the main site catching up with fellow caches before we were joined by 999Hunter and we set off to grab a few caches we missed on Friday, it turned out Hunter had the same unfound caches as us three so it worked out very well, we got back to the Mega site just in time for the closing event and then the loooong wait for a pork sandwich, every Mega I have been to it's been the same, next Mega I'm taking a cut lunch.
After a bit of a relax and more catching up we ended up doing a local tree climb on the spur of the moment since someone had a ladder to get us started after that we said our goodbyes and headed to the airport, we got home not long before midnight.
Thanks for a great Mega.

Find number 4404. 3rd day of my Melbourne Mega trip. I managed to borrow a bicycle from my brother so I could cover more ground. This was good until the chain broke and I had to turn around and head for home. Still managed 14 finds so it was a good day. This was my second stop and was made easy as 2 other cachers were already there. While chatting 2 more arrived and then another 2. Cache signed and I rejoined the trail with 4 happy ladies. Once again no animals were hurt in the collection of this cache. Thank you for the placement

In town for the MEGA and thought we would spend the day collecting caches along this trail, headed out on the train with our bikes 20kms ahead and many hides along the way. Two flat tyres and a couple of DNF's many, many muggles that snuck up very quickly.

Great series. Have enjoyed meeting the escapees.
