Took a bit of searching as the cache was finally found some distance from where the GPS was indicating where it should have been. Cache was full of water and the log unprintable had to sign in on a scrap of paper. This cache needs some maintenance.
Took a while to find this one. Cache was full of water and log was soaked. Have started new log and put it in a dry snap lock bag. Thanks for placing the cache
On a cold winters walk, southerly blowing. Found cache, all in good condition, before heading on upwards. TFTC
nice easy find on school holiday bunkers exploration with my boys, younger son did experience some bovine terror further on in the walk where cows were being herded straight towards us along the path, TFTC
After finishing work in the Hutt, I decided that I might as well go for a walk and pick up a cache before heading home, having being here a few times prior, I knew that this was going to be one of those caches that was in the middle of nowhere that there was a few points of entry.
As I was in the Hutt,I decided that I would drive up to Hill Road and walk to GZ from there, arriving at the carpark, I noticed that there was some extra materials here, I wonder what is going on here, looks like that there might be a new gate going in replacing the old one in the near future, will be interesting.
Having being here a few times I knew that this walk was going to take a bit of time, but I was not too worried as it just gave me a chance to chill out and enjoy the views and have some exercise. I decided that I would check out the other cache that was nearby as I walked pass as last time I was here I searched for it and it was missing, and had an extra hint from a previous finder who confirmed that I was in the correct area and it was still missing, oh well maybe it will be replaced one day.
After having a rest and taking in the views, it was time to go the final few hundreds metres to the cache I was after, having being pass here quite some time back I knew what I was looking for, but I also noted that he cache had moved from where I found it last time, but it was in a much better location. As I approached GZ, I spotted the usual signs and had a closer look and soon spotted something and knew that it was the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back as found. Thanks jefraser for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (14379). Definitely a great spot for a cache, and I really enjoyed the exercise as well.
Now it is time to turn round and retract all my steps back to the car, at least the walk was enjoyable and the gradient wasnt too bad.

Found as per last log, I should have returned it to the correct location but there was not much cover so left it where we found it.

#5905. Today dawned fine and sunny but no sign of the eclipsed moon when I got out of bed. I have been thinking for some time of doing a big walk from Haywards Road to Melling via Belmont Regional Park, Speedys Reserve and down through Belmont to Hutt River trail. Decided today would be the day in case the park shuts for the lambing season (did see one lamb on the lower section of Belmont Road). My wife agreed to drop me off at Belmont Road. We drove down a little way until it got too narrow then that was it. I was kicked out of the car and onto shanks's pony. Arrived at the GZ and checked for sign of the bovine enemy. There was lots of fresh sign on the ground suggesting they were close but no bovine terrors were spotted nearby so I didn't have the same fearful experience that trails trails trails had encountered. However the likely GZ had a huge pile of fresh cow poo blasted all over the base of the gate post and into a heap 30cm high. Oh no, surely not. I rolled up my sleeves and was about to dive into the crap when I spied something yellow on the road about 3 m away. Checked it out and yes it was the cache. What a lucky escape. Thank heavens for small mercies. Signed the log and wondered where the cache had rolled or blown in from. I couldn't see any obvious secure hiding places nearby so have put it by the style and covered it with a rock. Thanks for cache jefraser.
Cache was lying in middle of road. Not sure of original hiding spot so now under rock by style.
I was bent over searching for the cache when I was knocked flat by an udder-punch. Yes I had taken the sign lightly. Before I could think, the bovine had me pinned to the ground with a hoof on my backpack. Then BLOOF! A cowpat right next too my head; I took it as a shot over the bow, scrambled to my feet and bolted up the track. Glancing back I saw the cow rise on it's back legs and bellow, "MoooOOooo".
I only relate this episode as a warning to others. 20m from stock? Make that 100!

I refused to be 'cowed' by that one so searched until I found it. TFTC - no bull!
A quick and easy find here. And another interesting container. I don't know what it started life as but it seems fit for purpose as a geocache container.
Nothing of a bovine nature here today. Just rain showers. Cache was a nice quick find. TFTC.
Cows are sufficiently massive that I keep my distance from them as a matter of course - docile or not. I didn't see any today (lots of sheep though). The GPS homed in directly on the cache location and the cache was duly found immediately on arrival. What is that odd container?! TFTC.
With things pretty quiet at work I took a half day and did the loop stating and finishing in Hill Rd. Even with the weather packing up a bit as the afternoon wore on it was a most enjoyable walk. Cheers and TFTC
Quick find on circuit from Hill Rd I met a very large guy who was riding an MTB fitted with balloon tires and with a retrofitted E-kit He had two batteries in his back pack Was amazed to find he'd come from Belmont Rd gone up Boulder Hill (very steep track) and then back to this point and still had 75% charge He assured me he had used plenty of E-assistance Must look into that system The young cattle kept away from me today - they often creep up behind in a curious group and scare the living daylights out of me TFTC
As we approached the GZ a herd of heifers blocked the road. One in particular stood his ground and eyed us - had he read the sign? What did the sign say anyway? - there is no attached image. Maybe it said cows will give way eventually?
I knew there was some heavy rain expected for today, and once the first band of heavy rain went through early on Boxing Day morning, I headed out to the Park. A bit windy in some of the exposed places on the top of the range, and a steady drizzle, but still a good couple of hours walking off too much Christmas food, getting this and a few other caches in the area. *TFTC jefraser #300*
Another lovely morning to wake up and go for a walk. Car problems meant original plans had gone to the wayside so another day in the Belmont Hills.
Another Quick find where all good at GZ. Thanks for another smilie and walk. Decided not to bring bike on this one - took the tourist route.

Went for a bike ride this morning from the Hill Road carpark - I left sufficiently early that it was still partly cloudy and the wind hadn't had time to get up too much. Very pleasant. I biked on to here from the "Gotta Hurt" cache, and this one was a quick find with good accurate coordinates. Signed log, TFTC!
On a mission to clear outstanding caches in the area today. A great day for a walk with it not being too hot. A quick find. I even did a good deed as a couple of bike riders were chugging up from Porirua I opened the gate for them to pass through without having to stop. The real reason was for them to pass by quickly away from the GZ that was right there. Everything in order. TFTC
#9676. {FTF} at 18:02. After our DNF at Munitions Lab, we continued the walk onto Belmont Road in Judgeford, Porirua. Fortunately we did not encounter any bovine terror along the way. (It would be good to see a photo of the removed sign, which is yet to be posted on the cache page.)
There were plenty of ewes and lambs on the paddocks either side of the “road” though. It appeared that the lambs had been put into separate paddocks, and all the mums and offsprings were continuously calling each other, making it a noisy symphony of constant baaings and bleatings to accompany our journey. GZ itself was all quiet when we got there. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.

Damn - we seem cursed to always get pipped at the post in this area and so it was today. Must have missed HuuGrub by about 15 min. Luckily he had headed back to the Hill Road car park after this one so there was a still new cache further on for us to finally get an FTF tonight.
