Day two of my road trip through Southland. Today's journey takes me from Invercargill back to Mosgiel. My rather indirect route goes by way of Riverton on to Tuatapere then through Winton, Mataura and Balclutha. With a final detour up to Middlemarch. Old School Challenge caches are the focus of the trip, but there's a few others to look for along the way as well.
I enjoyed doing this series. It certainly helped to give the days total a boost. TFTC

A nice quick find thanks. I completed all of the series today, 25 please Bob caches. (where is I? Hmmm looking back I found it in 2019!!)
Ms_KR and I are on a wee South Island break. A day spent collecting smileys around and about Balclutha. It rained a wee bit about lunchtime, but it was a glorious day for caching!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

After shifting my snail shell to Balclutha, where I have never stayed before in my six years of travelling the country, it is only today that I have managed to get some caching done. To make up for the lack of signed caches I decided to do this series to the South of this burg to get my numbers up. Also it is the start of a new Climb The Peak mountain.
This is another in the series.
Cheers for the cache.

It is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces and geocaching should not be done at this time; https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand
To remove temptation, I am disabling this cache and ask kindly that you do not find this cache during lockdown.
Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. Or if you live near a multi you can walk the trail and save the find for another day. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.

Cache 757 heading to Balclutha for a couple of days it was time to pick up some caches on the way so why not add some Letters to my list so I will have an N please Bob cache nice quick park and grab easy find in good condition T4TC
Now this one was the real bonus
Where we parked some branches had been cut off the pine trees so no looking for the cache we started collecting pine cones.
After awhile I said I will go and look for the cache and yes this one was the hardest to find. Finally I found it and returned to find the boot of the geocar loaded with all my shopping bags full of cones to the point that the lunch bag now sat between our legs. So a fav from me for the warmth we are going to get and a well hidden cache

Off on a weekend travelling up to and around Balclutha grabbing caches here and there plus hunting up the new Challenge Wonders Souvenirs. This was no.4 *Great Barrier Reef* of the 7 Naturals. I had left a fair amount of the A-Z series, glad I did! Picking up what's needed an extra thanks for the series Natalie
Now to walk back to this one. Im parked at the corner. All good here. Cheers.
Friday 13. Balcultha to Gore and back. Another long day with Gore on the agenda. But got sidetracked with back to basics with the ABC series. So lets hit the road!
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Picked up a few in the Blockbuster A-Z series with @peadub while on our way to Balclutha. Fairly easy find. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.

Headed down south a beautiful still autumn afternoon south which was new territory for me with CO to help with her maintenance run while convalescing in the car. Great way to find caches and check they are all okay. This one took a while. TFTC Natalie247
Another quick grab tonight, this one was a bit easier than the last. Only one more in this series to go! TFTC [^]
I decided to tackle this series today - having decided a couple of weeks ago I was rather annoyed when I suffered an accident yesterday which hampered my efforts a little. Nevertheless, I managed all twenty-six today!
Another tricky one - thankfully I got all the tricky ones out of the way early. Once I got to the right hint object I was well rewarded. Cheers!

A quick park and grab while out about grabbing a few caches down this way. A nice and easy find and on to the next one. TFTC
Parked at the intersection and left the keys in the car then realised while looking for the cache I couldn’t see the car and there was other traffic on the road. Also I could have parked right at the cache site. But a quick find and no one notices. Off to find my next cache. Thanks

Having a day out and picnic in the clutha area. Enjoying the winter sunshine. Again going to places never visited before. Thanks to all cache owners.
Dakotacats and I decided to make a full day of caching in the area and one of our main targets was this A - Z series. We found all caches in this series and enjoyed the different roads and scenery along the way. TFTC
4Clubs and I spent an enjoyable day caching in the area. We found all 26 of the Blockbuster series, and we travelled on roads we have never travelled on before. Thanks for putting this series out Natalie, we had fun.
TFTC Natalie - enjoyed this series of caches and tripping down some previously untraveled roads
All easily found

Down South for a geocaching day trip with the main intention being A - Z please Bob. Started this series with A but then all order was lost! A fun series which was very much enjoyed. TFTC Natalie247 and the time and effort for this series which many of us feature in
Haven't been on a caching "dawn raid" for ages! Set off before sun-up to clean up the Blockbuster A-Z series. Early on Easter Monday proved an excellent time to do so as, away from SH1, there was just nobody around. On way home the traffic was heavy heading south out of Dunedin. Apparently some second-rate musician had done a few concerts over the weekend in town, which generated a few visitors. All 26 A-Z caches found, plus another at Kaihiku Falls. All the side-roads were pretty much new to me so that was a bonus. Apologies to the CO for the generic cut and paste logs for most of the series but when you're "speed-caching" the whole thing becomes a bit of a blur. Thoroughly enjoyable outing. TFTC.
Coming home from being on business. Thought be a great chance to get these new caches, TFTC.
Got a call from # 2 son here - had a nice chat with him then drove off. Whoops then I remembered the cache so had a bit of a backtrack. TFTC # 12,018
I went to high school with people from this area. Some of the roads are named after their ancestors. A quick find.
Another stop, another satisfying find, really enjoying being passenger and taking in the countryside.
Thanks

A quick easy find as we trundled our way through this slightly different series, and some pine cones to collect. TFTC
Cache found with good friends as we made our way up the river, thanks for the series!
Found it with the Chosens and Tuitigger and Searchwisely on our blockbuster tour. Thanks Nat for the series.
A group of us traveled around the area in search of the new series. Thanks for the great day, it was heaps of fun

Off again around the district to get some more caches and add to my first to find haul for the year! I am certainly luck the wife and kids are away on holiday for the christmas / New Year period or I’m pretty sure i would have been grounded by now! This was another nice cruse around the area south of home, a part i don’t really spend much time in but should rectify that from here on in. All of the caches are spot on with the coordinates and are very close to safe parking. I will have to sit down soon and start thinking about the questions swell. Thanks as always for the cache, The Roaming Haywards.
