#9994. Today was the beginning of another South Island road trip. This time the plan was to pick up the new geotour caches on Banks Peninsula before heading over to the West Coast. We also have a lot of Adventure Labs to target in far flung towns during the trip. I flew down with geocaching buddy Infoferret to work on a lot of mutually interesting caches and share the costs of a rental car. We stopped at Little River to do the Adventure Lab and grab a cup of coffee at the cafe. After the refreshments we headed off the main road to find this cache. Saw the marks on the tree that fitted with the cache title. Found the container after a brief search. Thanks richbritty for hiding this cache here.

Sunday and the last day of my mum's weekend away. I had a fantastic weekend with friends and even got some geocaching in around eating, chatting, and just relaxing. All good things must come to an end so off I headed with no plan other than grabbing maybe a few caches and stopping for afternoon tea. Having found German Bay I did a quick scan ahead of caches not too far from my route and noticed this cache on a side road and a few others that would mean avoiding traffic and be more fitting for the end of a weekend of relaxation.
The spot was beautiful and the find straight forward though I still don't understand the hint.
Thanks for placing this cache and bringing me along this quiet road.

Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.

Today we were off on a trip to Akaroa and after stopping off to do an AL on the way, passed by for fish and chips. Headed back over the scenic route and then stopped for a few more on the way back. A interesting tree here where cache was soon found, log signed and returned safe and secure. TFTC

Interesting name for a cache - named cache Very Happy
I had no clue what is it about, GPS was playing up so it left me wandering aimlessly back and forth on the road. I had a good look at the letterbox a couple of times

Eventually I got to the tree, saw the names and concluded that the cache should be there. And it was!
Logbook a bit damp and needs changing anyway, but otherwise good.

Kia ora! Paldies!

Team BOP on another crazy mission to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.

So it's Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission and today we're here having a wander around Akaroa. This cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a straight forward placement and a good hint. We enjoyed our time trying to clear Little River, cheers richbritty & TFTC

With the Mega Covid cancelled this year a part of Team BoP decided to come south and try get all our solved puzzles, and some others along the way. So here we are!

I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

As Auckland Mega has been postponed we decided to do a trip south to Christchurch. Four of us from Team BOP joined up to share a car and accomodation. I always love these weekends as the company is great and makes our days and nights out caching lots of fun. We have done lots of puzzles in preparation and did some long windy roads to get them. Found lots of great caches and thanks to all the COs for the effort that goes into these Please excuse the copied logs and I will try to make some individual notes on as many as I can This sort of trip is where I find the cachly app very valuable. TFTC

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...

There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!

1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...

After the police moved us on from McLeans Island, we decided to head south-east. There are lots of interesting caches to visit in the area, including a puzzle trail, Canterbury CANZ and the Little River Ad Lab... We stopped for this hide along the way. A straightforward find - The cache title made sense as we stopped alongside. Thanks richbritty and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.

Detoured on the side road for this one but was quickly located. We decided on a few days stay over to visit Akaroa as it is nearly 40 years since we visited the little town ship of Akaroa . we had a lovely time over in the town ship and i managed to visit a few Caches which were a bonus, although this weekend was a very busy weekend due to a relay race being held this weekend. On the way back we stopped in at Little river as i had been told it was a great place to stop It is indeed a lovely little place to walk around and see the local sights as well as visit the lab cache here and the trad round about. the extra good thing was one was a letterbox cache and the lab cache Smile
this was quickly located, extracted and then signed and replaced. i took nothing and left nothing so thank you very much for the cache.
