First whereigo! The village was cool and this was easy to spot when we got there. Everything is wet, though. TFTC
Thoroughly enjoyed this wherigo and the dry sense of humour from the CO. Great to be able to pick this one up as well as the multi at the Village. Thanks for setting this one up, a favourite from me
Passing through Tauranga on a rather wet miserable day. Decided to head to The Village partly to stay dry but also because we rarely get the opportunity to do Wherigos. The technology worked well and it didn’t take too long to collect the final coordinates. First a break for coffee then Mr Rubbishoarty headed off to GZ. Searched for a while and found evidence of the cache but had to persist before spotting the cache itself. Sadly Mr Rubbishoarty had left the pen with Mrs Rubbishparty so sent photos to CO as proof of find. Thanks tryfyn for the reply and an entertaining time at The Village. Happy to add a favourite point.
Our first wherigo! Been branching out the past few months to mystery and other types. We were at the village for a treat and figured we may as well give it a whirl.
Didnt have time to get the actual cache so came back today. Plenty of hiddey places and got caught up at the wrong area. Followed gps back and seconds later had it in hand. Cool hiding spot and the triple container worked.

I believe that the Escape Tunnel (The Village) was here: N 51° 02.115 E 000° 14.336
I hope to place a cache there soon.
Some suggest that the escape tunnel was a now demolished tunnel about a mile to the south. But the entrance and exit brickwork of that tunnel don't match the tunnel in the escape scene.

Hadn't done a Wherigo for a long time so took a bit to remember how to find the cartridge, it would be so much easier if you could search for the cartridge using the GC Code!!
Mrs Geckoh did the wandering around finding the waypoints etc and then phoned me with the Coords as it was in my direction, quick find at GZ, great hiding spot.

The cache was missing and has now been replaced (along with a stone anchor to stop it floating away again). Good to go.
Arrived in town today for an overnight stay. What better way to explore than by caching. Get the multi and the whereigo - two at the same time. Thanks for your efforts. All we found at the final was the cache lid; couldn't find the bottom. TFTC
#17390. After a short walk we had no trouble finding the cache container (just had to add a log sheet). TFTC.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 2 of our four day long weekend trip to Tauranga.
A pleasant stroll to GZ, and after initially searching the wrong hint item, the cache was quickly found at the right one . Sadly, all we found was the container, nothing in it, no log book etc. We left a scrap of paper with our names on it to act as a temporary log book.
Good to find a wherigo during our trip here, especially after failing at our attempt yesterday. Thanks for the effort of setting this up.

Wherigo cartridge updated to reflect recent changes in the Village. You'll need to upload the latest version. Be Seeing You.
Yup. The dovecote is gone. The cache should still be findable with one missing co-ordinate (more fun and challenge anyway). I will update the wherigo as soon as possible.
I am partial to a wherigo and having one myself (one is enough) am aware of how much work goes into creating these. This was a well executed one and it was a genuinely pleasant experience wandering the streets of the village looking for the locations and answering the questions as we went. Sadly the last waypoint object we are pretty sure is missing so the cache could use an update or maintenance as it is not easily solvable at the moment. In the end I ran through the wherigo twice to get the last clue.
Went to GZ and the cache was found nice and quickly. Bit of water in the container which we drained out but the log was just fine. Nicely done wherigo thanks. Thanks for the cache, all good here.

After a semi-successful Saturday Tuolei and I were on a mission to clear up as much of the map as we could. We arrived at this area hoping to do this Wherigo and the multi before going on to walk around the park which we found closed due to construction. We both had a good walk around this nice historic village while the morning market was on, one doing the Wherigo and one doing the multi. We could not find one location for this cache but figured out the final without it.
As the nearby access to the final was closed, we hoped in the car, found another entrance and had a nice walk to the final; Tuolei found the cache quickly. All good here - thanks for taking us to this interesting place.

On a mission to clear out some of the closest unfound caches.
Finally managed to stop for this one. I have biked past here dozens of times.

A lovely day to visit the village and do this wherigo. We took a picnic with us and sat under the trees and had lunch. Afterwards we made our way around collecting all the clues. Its been a long time since we were here last. An enjoyable tour around the place, we had everything we needed to get to the final. A lovely walk and seemed like deja vu once we hit GZ. Cache quickly found although a little wet inside. We signed the log and drained all the water out. All good here, thanks for the cool wherigo and an enjoyable few hours spent with the family!
I found this one with my mummy and daddy after walking around the historic village. We had a picnic under some trees in the sunshine. TFTC
Now that was heaps of fun! Apart from the hinges and the dovecote everything went well. After completing the Whereigo part we treated ourselves to an early morning tea at the village café - delicious, nice coffee too. Then it was off to GZ on our bikes … cache was very wet, poured the water out, and dried it the best we could, and gave the log sheet a good airing in the breeze. Picked up the trackable. Thanks again, and we do appreciate all the work that you've put into this.
Note: having difficulty logging the trackable - XKMFW4 - with a small boomerang attached

Find number 4539. I had been visiting my brother in the hospital so I popped down to the village to complete this one. I had been over to the village recently to see a performance of "The Vicar of Dibley" at the theatre. So today it was good to take my time and enjoy walking around the village. No trouble finding the clues. Then enjoyed the walk to GZ where the cache was quickly found. Thank you for bringing me back here.
Its back towards town to park Zara outside the Polytec to wander round The Village. Great place. Loved the Rock Shop so had to have a closer look. What amazing rocks NZ has. Now back to business. No2 had me stumped but The Seagnoid got it sorted. The hinges nearly unhinged The Seagnoid as he is tooo pedantic. The final is way over there so lets go. Finally snagged and tagged this one. Loved it. Fave from me even though very wet inside. Cheers
Day 7 - Thursday - Tauranga. Another day in the sun - so lets go!
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Tauranga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

What an awesome little wherigo, although I would suspect the outright awesomeness is a little lost on those who haven't seen the TV series, No2 was wonderful, you captured him so well. Taybeedragon and I had a wonderful walk around town, getting involved in the story. Alas, the answer at the church is incorrect (it says you have to be careful, but if you are careful, then you get the wrong answer. Answer sloppily (incorrectly) will yield an answer that works.)
On the other hand, I got to experience how you handle incorrect answers. I will use this technique myself, one day. At first I was surprised at how far away the final was, but then I realised that even this is in keeping with the theme.
So yeah, definately a favourite. And a path tag. And an emerald. And a big thanks from the Seagnoid.

Day 7 of my Mega trip: Tauranga to Waihi. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi. Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip.

This final not too far away from previous hide. Have had answer for awhile so this worked nicely. Quick search and soon found slighyly wet contents. SLTFTC
well that was quite an adventure a most enjoyable time I once had a shop in the village where I took photos of people in old clothing and treated the photo with a chemical to make it look old was very busy in the season but died thereafter. I really enjoyed the nostalgia and the brisk walk to sign the log which is a bit wet fyi. a favourite awarded for the VERY well put together whereigo the best one I have done to date TFTWC a pleasure and a fav
We are spending a 'long weekend' in Tauranga, with the main goal being to find the caches on our BOP solved puzzle list. We are also keen to find some wherigos.
Late this afternoon we arrived to find the historic village deserted, so we were able to wander around The Village freely, completing the stages of the wherigo. We enjoyed how The Village incorporated the real locations into the storyline. In no time at all our tiki tour of the historic village was done. Our only hiccup came right at the end when we failed to see a dovecote at the last location. Has it gone? No matter, a bit of trial and error sorted that and we had some coordinates for the Final. We opted to drive closer to GZ, as it would soon be dark. Once there we took a little while to find the nicely tucked away container. Thanks for setting up this wherigo.

Nice quick find here tonight at a very familiar place . Out with Philip.perry and our sons for a bit of night caching this was our last cache for the night.

In the area for another reason and with an hour to kill.... of course I was going to go caching.
After another wonder around the village picking up the clues. Headed off to GZ. Not too many people out today with all this rain. Foucd the cache quickly and it is water logged, drained it as best I could. Thanks for another Wherigo in TGA

Headed out for a days worth of caching in the company of HKCB & 11HPG11 for a group of 14 targeted caches in the BOP area. Signed as "HOAC" to save space in the log. Some that we had been collectively working on for some time. As I was about to head off on holiday it was to be our last venture out for a little while and as its always nice to grab a few caches over this way.
Wherigo's were a target species (a bit like ducks at this time of the year) today hence making plans to knock them all off in the area today. There were not too many people about herer today and so it did not take long to gather the required information needed. Seventh of the days caching adventure and Fourth of the specifically targeted caches. What a well constrcuted Wherigo and a real joy to work our way through. Will have to comeback with Mrs Dragon to have another look around
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Another jaunt over the Kaimai's to tackle the every growing list of caches over here. With C&D and 11HPG11 in tow, as well as a trailer full of yaks, the plan for the day was to get into McLaren falls as early as possible to give the new virtual ago, then head into TGA to target a few of the more technological caches in the area, and of course anything else that was nearby.
This is one of my favourite types of caches! Have ran around here gathering answers for another cache here, so enjoyed doing it again. Once the answers were gathered we chose for a slightly shorter walk to GZ. Thanks for the whereigo.
The trip was a great success with all caches we attempted turned into smilies. A huge thanks to the CO's for the hides!!

Another mission over to the BOP with HKCB and Cats&Dragons. Left Hamilton at some crazy time, who knows if it was night or morning! Lollies and rain coats were packed as the forecast wasn't looking too great but turns out we got the best of the worst weather. Another last minute puzzle solving spree meant today we focused on Whereigos, puzzles and a handful of trads for good measure.
Turns out we arrived here before they were open so we needed to come back later on in the morning when they had opened. Always an enjoyable spot to visit and this combined with a whereigo meant this was a very fun trip around here. Previous visits meant we had a fair idea on where things were and we were soon working our way around towards the final location. Thanks for the interesting whereigo and I am even more curious about this show now... maybe I will give it a watch as I feel I know a lot more about it now!

With the family... Rain cut across everyone’s plans today, so we decided to seek out some adventure rather than stay home... We arrived in Tauranga.
After some second hand shopping, we came to the Historic Village to explore. We’ve been here a few times, but now there is a Wherigo in place. We must admit, the iPhone hit a couple of glitches, as expected. We didn’t really want to muck around as it had been drizzling with rain for much of the morning.
Luckily, we had some knowledge about the final. While some of the family stayed put, we hightailed to the final. ‘Hello!’ We’ve been here a few times before. Something is obviously different though... After a complete circle, we had the cache out and open.
There was a small quantity of water and rust had begun to set in on some of the metallic objects. A soft toy kiwi was absolutely soaked and water logged. We really wanted to dry things off but realised this was going to be a waste of time. After completing the business, we drained the water, wrung out the kiwi and left it outside of the container (inside the zip lock bag). This will need attention as more rain is forecast... TFTC.

Now I thoroughly enjoy wherigos, so when we came to look at the historic village and I realised there was one here it was a no brainier that I was going to do it. Had a lovely wander around the village and then a stroll to GZ for a quick find. The wherigo cartridge worked perfectly. Have a favourite point for setting this wherigo.
Thank-you tryfyn for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Out caching with Will of the Wisp on our “Round the World in 80 Days” trip to celebrate retirement. Signing logs with our names or initials depending on space. Greetings from England, TFTC.

I totally enjoy doing wherigo. So today decided to give this one a go. Haven't been to the village for many years and only once. Before we started we tried out the cafe. Great food. With full bellys and fresh mind off to the start. Took a bit to get the question part to go then away it went. Totally enjoyed our wander around. Such a great place and a lot more here than I realised. One part there we came across a rope. Don't pull it. Dong! The whole thing went smoothly no glitches. Did the numbers and off we went for the quick find. This was a great afternoon out. Thanks for creating a fun wherigo. Looking forward to doing the rest of them and anymore you have up your sleeve. Tb in I just brought back from Wellington. And one out. Fav point. Tftc
Well if Jan can do it - so can I with my "IPhone" All went fairly well but yes I too had to start again a couple of times. The village is a great spot to bring people and is very busy at moment with building work. I enjoyed the wonder and the coffee - managed to gather all the info and moved to a familiar GZ - Great cache - hopefully this one stays here - think I have collected 3 or 4 caches from this spot. Thanks for another fun and well created cache TFTC
Spent quite a long time here today. Decided to do the recently revamped multi first, where I got a couple of number wrong, but soon rectified. Then onto this one, got organised and was going along quite nicely then I did something wrong and had to start again, oh and again, I finally found a nice cafe where I sat and refuelled with caffine and lunch, before starting off yet again!! Im sure people were wondering what I was doing as it was a very busy place today with people and alot of construction going on, I finally gathered all the info required and headed to GZ where I was a little hesitant at first, but pulled my big girl undies up, and felt where I didnt want to!! I was rewarded with the nice size cache and also retrieved a TB. Many thanks Tryfyn, a fp for your efforts, Cheers.
Yet another frustrating Wherigo that I cannot get to work. Had wasted a hour or two struggling to get app to work before I was joined by P.P. We both started again from scratch. Got as far as the 5th stage where everything was under cover of the trees where many GPS's (including mine) will never get an accurate signal. I couldnt get any closer than 20m from location so gave up. P.P was still following directions when we were asked to leave by security who was locking up.
Turns out, P.P and others had already completely ignored the Wherigo and gone straight to final GZ for ftf somehow, so why was I bothering to do this the correct way? I tried to solve the cache the way it was intended and failed due to technology issues. But at least I dont have an Iphone!
CO has definitely mastered the Wherigos now, but I do hope that he doesnt intend on saturating town with Wherigos as well as those other puzzles. Give someone else a chance!

We had completed the test during opening hours of the Village Tryfn what a wonderful trip around the village and l love the atmosphere that you created with the spy theme. The wherigo capsual worked extremely well and had no trouble obtaining the final Co ordinates ...it was a breeze...its a credit to you and I really appreciate the effort you have put into it and I guess there was plenty of it....the cache was located quickly and was disappointed not getting the (FTF )as I did the complete cache as it was ment and designed ....signed the log under the NEW GC code....I really enjoy the Wherigo's so keep them coming you seem the had a great knack with them an easy fav from medropped TB
Wow - definitely an interesting Wherigo experience. Due to a few CO hiccups at the start I was treated to a likely spot for a final and while my name made it onto the log sheet first - twice - I wasn't content with how it got there. Time to join TNXPro - He was sitting at the front gate looking absolutely defeated. But fear not - I have my trusty **iPhone** loaded up and ready to go. TNXPro gave some indication as to what he'd been through as he threw his Oregon GPSr 10 meters onto the grass!
I must say the Historic Village is a great place for a Wherigo and I was able to transition from one stage to the next quite easily. The Church gave us a little grief but eventually we moved passed it. Then as we were nearing the last stage, sure enough, we were met with a friendly security guard all ready to escort us out haha But he was too late - I ducked off to collect the last stage and get the last of six clues which enabled me to also get the first tick on certitude. Even beating rickrich from Minnetonka, MN, USA!! Who knows how he was able to solve this from there lol. Stands as a good lesson though - there are many ways to find a cache - to solve a puzzle - to play this game. So no matter how you play it, once it's published.... the [FTF] race begins and you're either first or you're not....
So all in all - a great and typical Geocaching experience (for me anyway). An easy fave, thanks heaps tryfyn for the work. Looking forward to the next one.

{FTF} Joint for doing the whole Wherigo around the village and signing the new log with the new GC code lol.
This was a really fun werigo cache with clever and novel interaction required. For some reason at stage four my phone packed a sad but MacWatts phone was going strong so I was relegated to back-up scribe and child minder (on babysitting duties). The coordinate numbers were soon gathered and we were off to sign the log. Thanks heaps for such an enjoyable day out Tryfyn. I appreciate the hard work that has gone into this. Keep it up.
