Great HideThanks Gral4 for the cacheJames0116Saturday, 24 Aug 202411:07:41AM ACST4749
One of three caches found at the upper end of the valley in Belair National Park. I have just attended the James0016 Event, and I am accompanied by him and doineedthis.Seems like just a few days ago that I logged Bob Turns 80 down Port Noarlunga way. An easy find here that James0116 spotted first, and a nice sized cache too. Thanks for the hide Gral4.
I sent the afternoon in and around Belair National Park, enjoying the sunshine and finding geocaches.
Warm weather so the sunscreen was on nice and thick. This was my first time geocaching inside Belair National Park so there were plenty of caches within walking distance to keep me busy.
I parked outside and took off on foot. Lots of good quality caches found. A couple required an extended search but the vast majority weee found without problems.
Thanks for the cache Gral4.

Found while out for a walk with geowife.
Going down was OK but coming back up tested us out.

This was found right away as we approached GZ. As I was opening the container though, I thought I had sat on a blackberry bush. It wasn't until I looked down that I saw a big inch-ant! The bugger really hurt as it was biting me on the leg. At least it won't be biting anyone else anymore... The picture I drew in the log book reflected this encounter. TNLN. Cheers.
Found It!
A nice walk into this one and a quick find once I got to GZ. It's about 10m north of where the GPS takes you but the obvious spot is quite easy to see so no problems finding it. No trains to be seen here today.

I went to check on this one and couldn't find it as where I placed it was overrun with blackberries, and was going to archive it. Two days later it was found, since then it has been found again but log noted the coords were out. Seems to be some creep happening. Will leave it until I can get back to it, then correct the coords. If someone can get more accurate coords it would be appreciated.
Found after a lengthy search. Path up from Saddle Hill Rd was a little steep but well formed. CO may want to have another look at the coordinates, they were out by about 10 meters for me. TFTC
This morning I headed up to Belair National Park to find a few caches. The aim was to start early, then head home again as the day got warmer.
Thanks Gral4 for the cache.
Thanks Gral4 for the cache.
Spent a coolish windy morning hiking around Belair National Park with e.gregory1 finding caches along the way. Thanks for the cache Gral4!
A nice part of day in the Belair Park. Did lots of walking for the 4 caches I found. I felt a bit "like 80" on the way up to the cache from the volunteers centre but a very pleasant walk, puff, puff! Thanks Gral4.
An unexpected and unscripted day out geocaching on a perfect winters’ day. This was stop 9 and the third cache on a nice round trip in Belair.
Wow you do get very close to the railway line here and just as I was about to sign the log I witnessed the attached!

This was another cache that had been sitting on my radar, just waiting to be found for a long time now. Now that I was finally in the area, I was determined to find it and have my name in the log book. Having parked as close to gz as I possible could, I began my walk towards it, pleasantly making my way up the trail. It was then, as I got to about 30 meters away from the cache, I realised that the path I was following was not going to go the way I wanted. I stopped to think about what I should do; I really did not want to have to take a really long way round and come at this cache from another way when I was within 30 meters of it. As I was looking around, I spied a goat’s path leading up to the train line that looked like it had been used before, so I scrambled up it. Now that I was on more level ground, I crossed the train line and made a bee line towards gz. The hiding spot of the cache was quickly spied and the cache was soon identified, should be easy enough right? Wrong! The cache was well and truly stuck in its hiding spot. I wriggled it, I maneuvered it, I did my best to move the covering material, and the cache was barely escaping. I just had to try something else. All of a sudden, I spied something lying within reach of the cache. "Hmm, I wonder if that will work." I thought. And sure enough, it did. The item covering the cache was moved, the cache was retrieved and the logbook was extracted. Ohh, what a relief. I stamped my name in the log book and replaced the cache. Hopefully the next finder wont rind it as stuck as I did. Now, to get out of here. I crossed the line, scrambled down the hill and was on my way out. This was an enjoyable, all be it slightly frustrating, experience and one that I think is worth a favourite point.

Lovely large cache by the train line. Left a trackable that would have loved the wet weather. TFTC.
Out on a perfect Autumn day in the Belair National Park to pick up a few caches that I've been meaning to get too for ages.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
I started 2020 with some improbable caching goals that only lasted until mid February.
Then came Covid-19 and now caching will have to take a back seat or be socially responsible.
No more than one or two people and target caches that haven't been visited in some time.
I had a total of just 6 caches left to find in Belair National Park. Anymules had 11 caches left. So we trekked about 12 kms through the park, up hill, down hill, around hill and visited 13 so in the end we both had none left to find. Even managed a couple just outside the Park. A great day for a long, long walk in nature.
Happy Birthday Gral's Mum. Any yet we get the present and found this cache.
***Thanks Gral4 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

This evening, I teamed up with @gridge98 to find a few more geocaches in Belair National Park. We each had been here a few times before finding caches, but hadn't explored some of the more further away locations from the front gate, so those were targeted, in particular a few harder Zytheran puzzles that were more adventures than anything. A few sections were targeted, and once the light began to fade, we disappeared before the front gate was locked, and made our way into the city to attempt a FTF. It turned out that we were not first, but the field puzzle was still underway, that we were allowed to join for a five way tie. A fun Valentine's Day evening out and about.
A nicely sized cache container as we were on our way down the hill to find this one. A lot of blackberries around. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Gral4 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. Happy birthday Pat for your 80th birthday!

Brad went for a ride today in BNP and targeted this one. A quick find in the first place checked. The blackberries may overtake GZ soon!

Well Pat is indeed a pretty fit 80 year old. On arrival at GZ I knew the spot from treks over the years.
The prize was found in the last spot we looked which was indeed looked over a few times. Those blackberries certainly are good camo and kept you at arms length from many a hidey-hole.
Thanks Gral4 and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!
We looked here then looked elsewhere. Astro persevered with here and came up with the cache. TFTC
I tried reaching this cache using the direct approach from below and found blackberry bushes at every turn. I will return.
What a fantastic cache.
Great swappables.
A great tribute to Pat. Happy Birthday for this year, your 82nd.

A great walk in, and only that big hill to get back out
Happy birthday mum!

Found at 1238 after a bit of a search as the listed terrain suggested a hide in a different spot to what the GPS suggested. After a bit of mucking about we stepped back & suddenly looked in the correct spot for what should have been a easy find if we had just thought about it a bit more. Thanks Gral4
What a great walk (I say..having only walked DOWN)...and now having to go back UP . So peaceful and a wonderful bright sunny day. Tftc.
Mr Tardis went for a nice bike ride this afternoon for most of the way to GZ. I found the cache after a short search. A nice sized cache in a lovely quiet location.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Gral4.

I enjoyed the nice walk from Sheoak Road along the Queen Jubilee Drive and down the Ballast Pit Track which I have done a couple times before today. I'm not much of an artist but I did do a little drawing with some of the pencils. I grabbed the TB that was inside. TFTC
Out south west from home base looking for new traditionals, and this was one of the ones found.
Not sure about the best way to approach this one but pretty sure it's not the way I used.

Stopped by tonight, before closing, but after the booths shut.
Parked at 200m and followed some nice roo trails up the hill. No blood was shed on the blackberries either!
GPSr was all over the place, so found the cache about 10m from where ot wanted me. Eventually it settled on 6m.
Happy Birthday Pat.

Thanks
Dropped a TB in too...

It appears as if I took the wrong route to the cache, across fallen trees I hopped, up a blackberry slope I scrambled, finally I reached even terrain and found the cache. TFTC!
Lovely walk and pleased to take the silver. Quality swaps and nice big container! Thanks!

Out and about spending quality Father and daughter time walking around belair, it was a nice walk down from the parking lot and even took a few rest spots to admire the views. At GZ the cache was found easily. Time to sit down and have a rest while the geo daughter did some artwork in the logbook.
