Sent answers to Ron.haha. So waiting for approval. Interesting area- thanks for taking us to this lovely spot!
Nice little hike down to this one. Looks like we need to learn more about rocks though haha no idea what kind it is
Visiting the park for a late afternoon walk.Saw a bunch of teenagers swimming in the lake and walking the loop too. Lots of hills.
Visited with catnap777 in dying light. Well I don't profess to know a whole lot about geology, but that grey mass right next to me sure looks like Sendingmental extraintrusive ignorance rock. No..... wait..... That is just my partner's beanie. TFTEC Ron.haha. Our colluded response has been sent and we are logging in anticipation of your response. [^]
Visited with dalerious , area assessed and answers sent for scrutiny by CO.What a busy quarry this would have been. The amount of spoil was phenomenal. Would have loved to had the time to walk the whole area/circuit, but time constraints prevailed. Thank you Ron.haha for making us aware that this place existed. My partner dalerious will be posting a photo of the 2 of us in situ .
After a fun 1st birthday for my nephew I was determined to get an Earthcache for international Earthcache day. Thankfully they live up this way so stopping here for the cache was not far out of our usual route, I was also grateful as I've already done so many of them down near where I live!Given I visit my sister fairly frequently it is a surprise that I've never walked all the way down to the bottom so this arvo my partner and I decided today was the day. It was gloriously sunny and the lake was looking very tempting haha!On the way back up the loop we made a quick find of this rock and have sent the answers through to the CO. Thank you for a fun cache and the interesting information, we were wondering about the origins of the area
Out today trying to complete some caches for the wheel of challenges month. A hidden Earthcache in this lovely area bought me here today. I used to visit Blue Lake as a kid when I lived in Mill Park. Answers sent to the CO. TFTC
This was my first stop on what turned out to be a rather epic 8km expedition — over various varieties of geology and geomorphology — that ended up collecting 14 caches in all (I think ... I won't know for sure until I log them!). I visited the northern end of the lake first before heading to GZ and was rather startled at the amount of trauma that the sedimentary rocks had experienced: you don't often see the layers vertical! Answers (about to be) sent. Thanks for the cache, Ron.haha, and for highlighting where east meets west geologically (now this bit of Victoria makes more sense).
Went to meet my big sister down from NSW, so we went for a walk around the gorge.
Firstly I checked out this site, and then we walked around the lake to look at some more rocks.
An interesting area.
Thnaks for the earth cache, Robmc.

TwoEms were grumpy and bickering with each other all morning over ridiculous things. We had decided on a short road trip to recharge our batteries, but instead we were rapidly draining our energy on poor decisions and prickly communication. The tension in the car was escalating to cabin fever heights when we spotted an echidna pottering around on the side of the road. As ridiculous as we can be, we stopped the car and just sat there watching the spiny ball with its cute paws saunter around with dexterity and ease until it disappeared rather quickly and smoothly into the bush. This M thought, and at the same time my other M said, “Well, that was worth it!”. And, just like that, we gave each other warm fuzzies and our quarrel was dead and over.
We pulled into the Yellow Gum area of Plenty Gorge and got out of the car to stretch our legs. There was peace and quiet, and very few people to disturb us. While walking along the cliffs, we found long tree roots dangling from the earth before we explored the mirror-like basin of the Blue Lake. We scanned our map for the closest hide, read about and rediscovered our favourite type of rock, and then completed our very first Earthcache. Charmed by this experience we vowed to come back here to widen our exploration—and tame our moods—Thank you for the cache.

Thanks for the cache, This was the last of the caches for the afternoon before heading back to the car we left in Bundoora.
First time in the park and really enjoyed our walk. Thanks for the earth cache.
I have been working on qualifying for the [WCW- 6 Types every day Challenge (GCA0HZQ)](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCA0HZQ), and when I checked the checker. It said that on the 20th that I needed to find a Earthcache.
So after work I hopped into my geomobil and headed towards this one. It was a beautiful walk over from the closest parking area and the area had some gorgeous views.
I always love Earthcaches as they teach me such interesting things and show me particularly beautiful places.
Thanks so much for bring me here today, and for teaching me about out wonderful and beautiful gameboard. TFTC.

Visited the Mega in Whittlesea and needed an earthcache for my well rounded day. This was the one I zeroed in on. A beautiful area that I would never have visited if it wasn't for this earth cache.

Such a beautiful spot! Answers sent - thanks so much for bringing us here! Team TACKT
On our way to the mega we stopped to do this cache, such a great spot thanks for being us here
Find number 7 out of hopefully 13 different cache types today. In the area for the Whittlesea event. Hope my answers are ok.
Music coming from somewhere we can’t work out. This would be a nice area to live.

Nice cache in a beautiful location definitely follow the instructions tftc
We have been living in the area for seven years and have wanted to come by here ever since, but never have until now. What a hidden gem right in our backyard.

Enjoyed finding out more about the park - need to return and walk more trails. Tftc.
frmen1 and I had decided a while back to target Plenty Gorge. Mother Nature threw heat in our direction so it turned out to be 9 caches, of which this was the first.
Fascinating spot. The clay was very friable and layering in the sedimentary rock was obvious. Answers emailed to CO. TFTC

I found this cache on my Plenty Gorge Hiking Day. I am not normally a fan of Earthcaches due to all the hoops that the owners make you jump though, but if they were all like this one, I would really be inclined to do more. I put my answers through at the cache and had my ok before I had even walked up the hill. Once at the top, I looked down at the Plenty Gorge Welcome Bridge cache and decided that I would not be doing that one way down there today. By the end of the day, that turned out to be a good move as I still had all the western side to complete on my return journey. Thanks from D B-A
Took half the day off today and enjoyed the nice weather. We've never been here before. The lake is quite beautiful although it was really packed today. Will come back another time and do more hiking here.
I had visited this location a little while ago and inspected the rocks nearby to the cool quarry/lake. While walking around the edge I spotted a little echidna scratching around the area. He eventually heard me moving and curled up so I left him be.
I’ve finally sent my answers to the CO and they have received the tick. Smiley added.

I love finding Earthcaches as I always learn so much about the stuff we walk on. This was my first visit to Plenty Gorge. I was amazed that a place so turned over by extractive industries could be home to so many indigenous plant, animal and bird species. Tftc.

Enjoyed my visit to the gorge and studying this strange rock. Thanks for the chance to stop here and look around Ron.haha

I'm not very good with Earth caches, but I'll give this one a go.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
So off to plenty gorge today to find some caches, I'm on annual leave this week so it's time to get up my cache tally.
My first trip to plenty gorge and what a wonderful place, took a walk around the lake and then a hike around the park.
It's nice to be out of lock down and be able to go out for the day again, due to fires last year the car park is closed so you need to walk
a couple of kilometres to get to the lake. Lots of Kangaroos and wildlife around.
Thanks for the cache

Our first freedom walk outside 5km! This section was quite interesting as there was not only the geological feature in question, but other examples too. I also saw a fairy wren and a spotted pardalote nearby, as well as many other birds.
Thank you for the information, if it wasn't for this cache, we wouldn't have known what went on here, as the park seemed to have no information boards around.

Find #4700. Found @ 15:42 with LouiseAnn.
I have a concept that I employ with work, that a few of us go for a walk at lunch, and (metaphorically) get things off our chest - both work related and other... I call this activity a "rant walk". It has proven very effective as well during lock-down as we all have a group chat as we do a distributed rant walk once a week. Very cathartic
I mentioned this concept to LouiseAnn a while back, and she decided that she also wanted to participate on a rant walk, so this was her idea. With the easing of lockdown restrictions, I decided that I needed to get out and about somewhere that neither of us have done much caching, so Plenty Gorge was short listed. With the park reported as open, it seemed ideal, however the park wasn't really open as the gates were firmly shut.
We parked in the pull off area near the main gate (as did everyone else - it was a very popular place today). We walked in from the gate and only attempted a subset for the day.
This was the last of our wander through the area before heading back to the car. Answers to the questions have been sent to the cache owner.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.

This part of Plenty Gorge Park is now open to the public after a six month closure because of bushfires
Due to recent nearby bushfire this parkland is closed. Entry is forbidden until further notice.
Came across this one on the way to tidying up a DNF into a smiley just a few hundred meters down the path. An interesting rock got us thinking how on earth did it get there? We hope the CO agrees with our answers and grants us a smiley.
Came past here on doing the Blue Lake circuit, and the rock in question is a most curious one. Thanks Ron.haha for making me notice it.
Out and about with echidna44 discovering this great area. We were running a little late after clearing out some stump finds close by and thought we had time to walk around the loop but it did not go according to plan. This was our last stop and it was raining. Sent off answers to co. Thanks bringing us to this neck of the woods
Out with xambo4u, we spent the day walking in the beautiful Plenty Gorge.
I have sent the answers to the CO. An easy earthcache in a lovely place.
Thanks Ron.haha

This earth cache is in a great area with lots of walks in natural surroundings. It was good to get out and about here. I have messaged the CO my answers and hope they meet expectations. I was in the area doing a couple of other caches a while back and checked out this cache but had been a bit slow to complete it. TFTC.
I managed to wrangle a free afternoon to myself so I made the most of the opportunity to go for a walk at Plenty Gorge and do a spot of caching on the way around. I didn't take the best route for maximizing cache searching, but the walk was fun all the same. This was an interesting Earthcache. Answers have been sent to CO. TFTC
Out on the regular Sunday caching day, with day1976, today was around the plenty gorge area, as there were PLENTY of caches around.
Ilukaperi and I were on our now regular Sunday caching run, this time our sites were set on Plenty Gorge, because there are plenty of geocaches, plenty of hikes and plenty of GORGEous views (there was also PLENTY of fun, laughter, dad jokes and resounding groans).
Lovely spot which Ilukaperi and I stood around and admired as we gathered the answers. Ilukaperi I believe has sent the answers to the CO for approval.

I would never have looked at this feature if not for this earthcache. I submitted my answers, which were approved, so I m now logging the find. Rock on.
My favorite part of the Gorge here. Scenic, lush, green and dry. EC was a little confusing as to which spot however got there in the end! Thanks for such an amazing series of caches out here! Cheers and thanks
Cache number 40 of 40 finds yesterday in this stunning area! Enjoyed exploring the bush with Jacko83 and Pac-Man ! Thanks for the cache
After driving past this area several times we decided to make a day of it exploring the gorge and surrounds. This is some surprising bushland seemingly in the middle of suburbia. With Jacko and Anikano we wandered around by car and on foot, through rain and shine, ending the enjoyable day out with **plenty** of finds.
All day I had been noting how close suburbia and the shopping centres are getting to this bushland. By this stage I could not get Joni Mitchell's song out of my head.
**"They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot."**
Ending the day off around Blue Lake and after 40 trads I was glad to find one of my favourite cache type. Made my observations, answers emailed and soon confirmed by the CO.
When I was in the army we had bluestone too, but it was something completely different.
Thanks Ron.haha.

Thanks for the info on this cache about this area. I never knew what it was mined for, and now I do. Having grown up in the area, it was a place I visited a few times, walking from Bundoora, I knew the family that bought this land in the late 80’s before being acquired by Parks Victoria, and rode a horse through the area exploring once. They converted a large shed into a house, but it was demolished by PV.
Took a wander through the gorge today. What a great park and a fun afternoon. Thanks for getting me out this afternoon
Beautiful day to be at Blue Lake in Plenty Gorge with Aito (aged and Amon (aged 6). Thanks Ron.haha for the thoughtful geocache which we found for the International EarthCache celebration for 2018!
A short visit with +Wife the Geomutts and our muggle mate, Pam on our way to the "Melbourne's First turns 18 Years Old" event.
An area we need to return to for a lot more caches.
Nice rocks!

While on my way to attend the Melbourne's first event, I made a slight detour into Plenty Gorge to visit this Earthcache for International Earthcache day.
So after a short stroll from the car I was now looking at the subject in question so after some thought I had what I think are the answers to the questions and then I walked a little further to the next cache.

Logging with permission. I always enjoy this area so an Earthcache was a wonderful reason to visit again. The reason I enjoy earthcaches is because I learn something new and it makes me look at things in a different way instead of just glancing at them. So thanks for the cache

Great day out Geocaching with my sons Cachemstr & Craycraymstr and joined by Melbmatt50, Zaneandbianca and Shadowwomen. Did the Plenty Gorge Stumps series, walked 12.1km in 4hr 41min - not a bad effort for a 7yo and a 9yo! Beautiful day for it. Thanks Ron.haha for bringing us back to Plenty Gorge, what a great place it is. Saw so many roos today.

My first earthcache today. An interesting location not far from a previous cache I had done. An interesting twist on standard caching. Found with Zane and Bianca, Shadowwoman, Craycraymstr and Cachemstr. Great caching, great scenery. TFTC.
Woo hoo! We had a nice walk to the lake and past this one today. The geology is very interesting here. Thanks for the cache!
Out for a caching run in Plenty Gorge with Noelle04 and sog12 so they could obtain the Dragon Hidden Creature souvenir today, last cache for us after a long walk of approximately 12km by the time we walked up the hill to outside the Yellow Gum gates. I was interested in the small "Cocopops" rocks on the tracks so wasn't too suprised by the identity of this particular stone which I scrambled up to take a closer look at out of curiosity. I had a few ideas how it got here and hope my answers are OK! TFTEC and a fun day out in the park Ron.haha
Very grateful to find this one at the end of our long walk today. Quiet1_au had a good look at this and we all compared notes and discussed the geography. Thanks for this and for all of the caches you have have placed, Ron.haha. We have had a wonderful day thanks to you.
Answers sent. Nice to see this cache in the park. I've always taken note of the layers on the other side of the park, but never noticed this interestingly placed rock. Thanks for making our walk here even better with two new caches.
Last of the day after a very long & arduous walk with sog12 & quiet1_au. Looking forward to a shower & a cuppa. Thanks for all your caches Ronhaha. It has been a blast.
Forty years ago my husband visited the Plenty Gorge on a school geography excursion. I have heard the stories of the excursion for the past thirty-five years.
Recently have visited the Plenty Gorge Park to find geocaches and now, after doing this Earthcache, I can also ramble on about the volcanic and sedimentary landscapes on opposing sides of the Gorge.
Thank you Ron.haha for creating this interesting Earthcache.
