We had this day planned for a month and had prayer all week for fine weather we could not had asked for better. Arriving at cache 1 about 9:30. We settle off KAZ444 had done some of those in 2 previous visits however I needed them all. We got a good system going and began tick of the caches we stopped the flow to do the AL in Paterson. Driving back to get the mystery bonus we saw another caches looking at stage 2. I tooted. We did have trouble finding the bonus and sure enough Mr Felixii caught up to us. We stopped for lunch and chatted and swapped Tbs. I must admit we felt like we were in The presents of Royalty once we heard they have over 40,000 caches. Wow We continue to run into them around the dog head. They stopped for the multi we didnt.I was in shocked when I read their log to hear they run into trouble. Just before 4 we ran into the cache were it is harder to park so after missing a few we decided to call it a day and drive back to Newcastle. We will return I still have 9 mystery to solve. Thank you for all your hard work placing this trail and maintaining it. All my logs will be the same except it I need to tell you about a problem which I will put first. Thanks.
Amazing Autumn day to be out caching with WRAACie. We headed off to do the Dogshead Trail - I had some patches to fill in.We got to Paterson and did the AL. So great to catch up with FelixII at the bonus. I'm still new to geocaching so it was a bit special to meet some lovely people who have done 40000 and hear about some of their adventures. Thanks kingfisher_au for creating this trail so we get out and enjoy this beautiful countryside.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Well we set off for a drive in the countryside today. We noticed we were logging behind WRAACie & kaz444 on the same date. At Paterson we were doing the AdLab and a car tooted Mr Felix whilst he was collecting a stage so we thought there may be some cachers about. Sure enough we caught up at the AL bonus. We even swapped a few TB's Lovely to meet cachers out on the hunt. We then continued to see WRAACie and kaz444 at stops along our route. We got to #99 of the dogs head series and Mrs Felix said just 1 more before we head home. But of course things went awry as the car was on such a lean that she couldn't get back in and had to get Mr F to move to more level.... WET ground. OOps. Yep we were stuck, 4x4 back and forward digging up the verge. [B)] Mrs Felix name was mud, literally. Lucky for us a P-plater stopped in his Hilux and was able to snatch the GeoCruiser from the mess. The highlight of our day was the multi at St Annes Gresford and seeing that amazing bridge.TFTC kingfisher_au
Finally somewhere shady to park the geomobile! It's very hot driving directly into the sun on this road.I went carefully down into the gully hoping there were no slithery things hiding under all the fallen tree bits. I made quite a lot of crunching noise which altered a dog on the closest property that I was visiting and he barked, hello I hope and not keep away. Lots of spiders of varieties I didn't know were around GZ too. The cache was an easy find and I made a quick escape from all the creatures around.TFTC # 5893
How lovely that my job should send me out to this part of the world for a few days. And given I finish work in the early afternoon and I have a hire car, well of course I'm going to go geocaching. Convenient, right!? After my second day, I have a little more time, so head for the Maitland area. Now heading north for a circuitous drive, this Large listing caught my attention. Two-hundred in this trail and I manage to find just one.Blasting up the hill, I'm pretty careful about picking the place to stop and pull over as best I can out of the way and with good visibility. Then just a dash down the road a little and into the bush. In the process, I facially collect a few spider webs, but make an easy find. It really wasn't hidden at all. Inside in good condition though, so I sign my name at 16:20 and replace just a metre away but tucked out of the gully. With a dash back to the car, time to continue the drive. I reflect on the series and realise I could *maybe* name a dozen types of dog, let alone 200. And I couldn't tell the difference between an American Staffordshire and a.. well anything else really. Can you tell I'm not exactly a dog person? But the drive was lovely and the geocache big. Thanks for al that, kingfisher_au
A trip to check out some of the awesome places in NSW and grab some old caches. TFTC.
I could see it but it was hard to get to. Great size.

On our way back from "Frying Pan" we decided to pick up the three "Large" sized caches along this road in the Dogs Head Trail. No time to do any others in the trail unfortunately though!
No problems with these three caches, given they were all "Large" we located them instantly upon arrival, signed the logbook and returned! All in good condition!
Thanks kingfisher_au

Still early, so decided to cache my way up the back of the dog’s neck to the Adventure Lad in Paterson.
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 11935.
I always love seeing these large caches on these kinds of trails. Doesn’t always have to be a micro
Thanks kingfisher_au for the cache.

Needing some caches for the reach the peak souvenirs the family headed out for a picninc. Got the ones south of Patterson and a couple DNF due to not being able to park and a couple missing. A nice series and drive around the area. Found today at 11:41:00 AM cache TFTC
Left Sydney with It’s_Dozzie and GeoMonkeyGirl then met with EverestHigh to tackle the Dog’s Head Trail.
I absolutely love dogs ! Large, small, young, old, I love them all. I’ve worked with dogs, volunteered with dogs, had close to 50 as foster pets, plus a few as permanent family members too. All different breeds and all wonderful.
There’s still a few breeds on this trail that I didn’t know.
Such a fun power trail, if the caching wasn’t enough to keep me entertained the dog photos certainly were.
I have a soft spot for staffies….who can resist that smile ?

A two day road trip to conquer the Dog Head Trail together with The Bebes, Everest High and Eagle Eyed Monkey Girl.
Full log will be placed with cache #197 (Standard Schnauzer).
The Bebes did not enjoy this one and Everest High was volunteered for the job, wading through spider webs. Some roos were watching us from a distance.
This was cache find 13 of our road trip. TFTC!

Make my way around the Dogs head trail on a very hot January day, slowly but surely TFTC kingfisher Au.
Apologies for the cut and paste but there’s just no way to do it otherwise
Of course, being me I made this a 4 star terrain and oh the spiders!!!

We travelled out to the Bolwarra-Paterson section of this trail today, and managed to find every one of the 23 we attempted! Every cache was in excellent condition, and we had a great day even though it was really hot. TFTC!
What a big container. Took a bit of looking to find the best access from the road.
Thanks for the hide kingfisher_au.

Thankfully found a decent geotrail amongst the spider webs and long grass. Loving the camoed large containers. TFTC

On holidays in Nelson Bay and due to head home tomorrow I decided to do some more of the DHT. Starting back where I left off I worked my way from #11 through to #46. All caches were in great condition with the exception of #31 which for some reason is waterlogged (and log can’t be signed) even though plastic bag and cache seem intact. Thanks again for the trail Kingfisher_au. A new biggest day for me and a big start to 2021. Happy New Year everyone!

We spent the weekend camping in Broke. On Saturday we headed out for a round of caching. After having 'done' Braxton, and a few other caches, we headed for the 'Dog Trail'.
Realised we would only be able to do some of them, we started from #1 (which we did not find) and then continued until we felt it be time to head back to camp.

Attempting to complete this awesome trail over a few days for my 60th Birthday Week. Today I had the help of my geodaughter, we successfully completed the task. Such an awesome trail, can’t believe how much work has been put into having this available for us to do! I feel bad placing a cut and paste log, but after a fullish day of birthday caching, I can’t see me logging all of them in one night! Thanks Kingfisher!
Well 2020 has been a relatively slow year on the caching front due to COVID-19. If it wasn't for that it would have been a trip to the USA and Geocaching's 20th year celebrations.
However the crew got back together and The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up for a few days caching up around the Hunter area. First it was to finish off some of the older OZGM series caches then up into the Watagans for more. Most of Saturday was spent tackling the great Dogs Head Trail then on Sunday it was down into Newcastle city for some great caches.
This was another find on our trip.

COVID has really put a dampener on this year’s caching ability, but it hasn't stopped my enthusiasm to get out and find a cache whenever possible. So, it was with excitement that I was keen to catch up with Steeba and Hoojar for our first caching weekend of the year.
We targeted a number of powertrails in the Central Coast and Hunter region over our 3-day caching frenzy. The weekend threw up a bit of everything, including a plethora of finds, mountain bush bashing, coastal caching, weather that varied from beautiful to bizarre, sleeping under the stars, some close calls with the flora and fauna, lovely local hospitality and most of all, a great time away with my mates”.
Thanks to all the C.O’s for placing and maintaining their caches for us to find. Apologises for the generic log but with so many finds I couldn’t personalise every one of them.
After a chilly night and another early start we tackled our biggest day, the “Dog’s Head” trail north of Maitland saw us meandering through the picturesque countryside. It was here we found some cleverly crafted containers which added to a great day. By time nightfall we’d met up with Big Matt & MV for a lovely meal at the Paterson Hotel.
Thanks

With restrictions starting to ease in our Covid World, it was decided that 2020 caching really need to kick up a gear, and so a plan was set in motion for The Rats, Steeba and myself to head to the Newcastle and Hunter region. There were a few trails, power trails, and Lab Caches that would be hitting our radars, along with a milestone for The Rats. We headed off on Thursday evening and turned for jome on Sunday afternoon. A wonderful long weekend was had, and our cache finds topped 450 for the trip. All in all it was a great success.
The caches were excellent. Some indeed were amazing, and favourite points have been awarded. The company, as always, was faultless. The weather was varied. We had sun, rain, wind, colder, warm, more wind... A bit of everything! We managed to find a few nice spots to camp, and enjoyed the company of Big Matt and Marcus Vitruvius for dinner at a local establishment on Saturday evening.
Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Thank you to all cache owners for their hides.
Cheers

First leg of the Dogs Trail today with leannem59 (mum), dad also tagged along as chauffeur along the road. Did caches 1-61. Such a windy day, all caches in good condition and quick finds. Great scenery along the road as well. Thanks for organising! We will be back sometime soon to continue the trail.
#12 for the day
#12 for the day
Started Dogs Head Trail today with my daughter Nicole Masson and my hubby came along as our driver. Very windy day but the scenery was great, everywhere is very green and looking lush. We completed #1-61 and a few “other ones” on our way home. Very enjoyable can’t wait to come back and find a few more.
I have to admit I’m more of a cat person than a lover of dogs but today I set out from Port Macquarie to find the dogs head trail. Who knew there were so many breeds?! What a picture perfect, gorgeous day to be out caching. Paddocks were full of calves, lambs and baby goats, with stunning mountain backdrops. A good mix of hide locations in all sorts of containers made the trail interesting. Finding suitable parking on the side of narrow roads with 100km/h speed zones not so fun. Attacked 1-110 and the mystery eyes today, so will return another day to finish the trail. Thanks kingfisher_au
Found with shaneo58 doing some around the Maitland Area, Getting a late start due to an appointment, getting windy during the day. got a bit of a start on the doghead trail and an AL as well This is the 21st cache of 28 for today. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache kingfisher_au

I was in desperate need to get away this weekend for some quiet and stress free time for myself, so I decided to go for a long drive up here to grab some select caches and camp out in the Barrington Tops NP. Just myself, my coffee and a small stash of food, with a bit oif rain... and sleep in the back of my Xtrail... should be a relaxing time...
Only to get rear-ended by a young driver on a quiet country road!
While my car was still drivable, the rear hatch-door was jammed shut. I was determined to keep my Zen state of mind and still go camping (It was a 4hr drive back home). I'd just have to climb in by the rear passenger door.
It got dark, so at the campground I made a hot drink, had dinner and read a bit before going to sleep earlier than usual. So I naturally woke up after my normal hours of sleep AT 3AM! TOO EARLY TO CACHE OR DO ANYTHING!
Hours later when the sun started to rise I continue my caching run. All was good for a few hours... and then I noticed my left-rear tyre go flat! My spare is beneath the luggage floor, beneath 2 drawers FULL of heavy camping gear, all of which I had to remove through the rear passenger door!
Fast forward a bit, the spare tyre on the car, the flat one back in the car, with all the rest of my stuff, and then I noticed my front one was flat AS WELL! No second spare!
The closest town 20km away, no tyre change store open until Monday, I could only try and keep it inflated with my little foot pump and top it up where-ever safe to stop, for the 300Km drive home.
Got home safely, despite heavy rain for the last hour and emptied out my car to get ready for the repairs.
AFTER ALL THAT I STILL KEPT MY COOL!
BUT THIS WASN'T WHAT I CALL A RELAXING WEEKEND!
Thanks for the caches.

I joined a trip to Maitland with Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine, Barb2e, Kitty Katch & Joolay. The weekends main game was to do the dogs head series, but along the way we did some old caches around Sydney and did as many Maitland caches as time allowed. The return journey was via some old caches and some challenges that may or may not be met one day.
Day 2 was the dogs head series and three other series around Kurri Kurri. The R&D caches and many other Maitland caches are absolutely fantastic containers showing great creativity with new tools.

Aquilus1 and myself have been itching to finish the task we gave ourselves a year back of completing the counties of NSW... ALL. OF. THEM. So, while we have been long planning our next flight into Armidale with a big loop, the lockdown then Qantas cutting back flights we had to bring forward what was always planned to be the last trip forward.
As always on these county trips we have one eye on lots of little smaller targets, such as Ausmer, sizes, oldies in general and cool types. If you are reading this log, then this cache made the grade in some way.
We drove from Canberra through Sydney, collecting the 1 counties Aquilus1 needed there before heading on to the Hunter region where 7 counties awaited us.
Originally the plan had been to try to get to Lake Mac or Newcastle on the first day, but Sydney caching is just so slow with the traffic and crap roads, so in the end after an aborted night cache off the M1 (we forgot to bring a TV remote!!) we turned around and went back to Hornsby as there were motels down there with 2 vacancies.... as always, we got the last 2 rooms!
The second day actually got us further than we expected, 50m into Muswellbrook before turning around and getting to Dungog (what an Aussie name... love it), we managed to ring ahead and secure the last 2 rooms (again!) for $55 each. While normally you get what you pay for I had the best night sleep, and its hard to beat having dinner, then drinks, then going upstairs to sleep... that works! The local bakery also had a specialty of cheese & bacon topped sausage rolls (and I mean LOTS of cheese & bacon) so, when in Rome, we sampled this and it was as great and slimming as it sounds.
The highlight of the trip would be the cache 'Frying Pan', the oldest container cache in Australia and such a beautiful spot...love white buckets buried in the ground!
After that it was essentially just turning around and heading back to Canberra, with a slight detour to grab Sydney Geocache Relocated. All in all, three year 2000 caches, three or four year 2001 and a sprinkling of 2002 to 2006 here and there. Great trip, leaves us with 106 NSW counties ticked off, just one trip left to complete NSW, hurry up Qantas and start flying again.

Another large and another coming from the opposite direction. Can't be helped as we are just passing through. Love the little spiders and the orbs here, a few hitchhikers removed! Definitely a large!
Trip details...
With GreyHams we continued onwards with our NSW counties trip, started as a need to collect a few to make up some missing numbers to qualify for a challenge... ended that we wanted ALL. OF. THEM!!! This wasn't the planned trip we thought was next but with no flights it was our plan B and still a needed one any way.
The focus was on the 7 counties around the Hunter region, however I did have 11 North Sydney counties I was keen to collect. GreyHams was gracious enough to help me get them despite having them already. He also was the best navigator to assist me to drive through the crazy of Sydney traffic! Planner, Navigator, finder, signer... yep, he does it all!!!
This trip was about quality, counties, oldies, sizes, interesting, type. If your cache made it to our list then it was one of these. We found three 2000 caches and despite living so close I finally found Lane Cove, my first Australian 2000 cache and also my 20th.
Sydney caching took its toll and the day got away from us. We made the move to return to Hornsby and luckily scored the last 2 rooms, as we often do! Placed us well though to continue with a few counties close by before continuing on to the start of the needed 7 around the Hunter way. Kurri Kurri murals also led to a great lunch at the local chippery, the fish burger was just the thing! It has to be said that the bats up this way are of some impressive size, good enough to be off the roads before night fall and saw us stopping in Dungog for the night.
Dungog was chosen as it was close to 'frying pan' an awesome 2000 cache in a stunning location for the next morning. It turning out to be a great place which was a massive bonus. Again we managed to last two rooms upstairs at the local Hotel. Great priced rooms, great food and super convenient. Beautiful countryside around this quaint town and the local bakery we stopped at for breakfast is a must.
Rain the last morning didn't slow us too much, even made for the trip out to Frying pan in the morning as a more beautiful experience with everything all wet. Loved the evidence of the old logging history as we made our way through the area and then it was time to head back to home. Never a direct route though it was very full and enjoyable day as we continued through to the last of the caches we had time for along the way.
Many thanks for you cache that led us on our journey, another counties trip ticked off but another great trip it was!

Change of plans saw us caching for the day. Enjoying the country drive. Not dressed in the right attire to retrieve this today.
Found with My Dad (DJANT) and my Brothers (dart16 & Jedi Anakin) I have my own account now and am trying to catch up to the boys Thanks Kingfisher_au for all the caches.

This took me a lot longer to turn up then I was expecting, I’ll blame the lack of daylight!
In all are travels we would not have even thought to traveled to this location.

Today I did a nice cacher tour along the Dogs Head Trail. The weather was nice and warm. I always parked in safe places and preferred to walk some steps. On the way I was always happy about the beautiful nature and the many boxes.
Thank you

We camped at the rest area in Branxton with wazza9 and Nana Nel and ventured on this trail together. We did the majority on day one which proved to be a good move as the rain came in for day 2. We enjoyed the hides and information about the various dogs, great job on putting out this trail. Thanks to kingfisher_au for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
TFTC,
I joined Liz and Bruce & Nana nel for 2 days caching around the area. Our primary goal was to complete the Dogs Head Trail but there are plenty of other caches to try and complete across several towns.
Great to have such a variety of caches.
Thanks to Kingfisher_au for providing a trail where we could work together with other cachers and enjoy each others company while building numbers and learning about so many different breeds.

Caching on the Dog Head series, today with Liz and Bruce & Wazza9, quick find, great hints, I never knew there was so many breeds of dogs, 179 finds for the day, during the day Liz & Bruce completed there 59,000 find and I achieved 9,000 finds. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to kingfisher_au. Great series.
