Our first visit to the Hinepango Wetlands. A pleasant walk alongside. Pleased to see the results of the work being done - a rather daunting job to begin with but hopefully the good work will continue. TFTC.
Parked overnight at the nearby freedom camping area so made sure to go for a wander this morning to grab a couple of the local caches, nice quick find here, TFTC
Morning walk along here. No possums. Bit of a project to clear the pests away but worth it.
Out in Marshlands for a walk along the Wairau diversion. Drove down the gravel road to the gate at the start of this track. Enjoyed the walk and happy for a quick find as it was getting dark. Didn’t spot any possums. Cache all fine. Thanks for the smiley
Saw a couple of traps but they looked too small for possums. Cache was a quick find TFTC.
We are staying at the camping spot nearby. After doing a bit of cleaning I decided to head out for a walk to grab a couple of caches. Some good work on trapping. A nice fast find.
Thanks for placing this cache

A nice quick find thanks. The quicker route was from Flaxmill drive, we but didn't work this out till we were close to the stop bank entry. Ah well, managed to get our steps up today.
Ms_KR and I cruised around the coast and Wairau Bar before headiing off home. Another great day out!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Seems like the introduction of possums was an expensive mistake but it's a shame we can't make more money out of their hides and fur. Evidently NZ exports carcasses to Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong where it's the delicacy 'Kiwi Bear'. Another nearby pest is the broom plant. Once a plant of kings, (the Plantagenets), and now an invasive weed. Tftc
We were parked up near by, so I went for a wander on a trail I hadn't noticed before.
No problems making the find here.

As I walked back to my car from my previous cache find, I realised I was heading straight for this one. I had cleverly parked between two caches without realising it so I carried on with my stroll.
Approaching ground zero, I was alarmed to see a number of cars about where I needed to stop. However, as I got closer, I could see none seemed to be operational and I appeared to have the place to myself. I had no problems getting my hands on the cache.

After searching the wrong clue, quickly found and thanks for a tour of the wetlands and the cut river mouth.

Had a bit of spare time in the area this afternoon so went for a walk to find this one. Good accurate coordinates enabled a rapid find. Signed log, TFTC.
Good cache foundvwith judithrichards. Looking forward to seeing fill development of this area.
Thanks for the easy 1 as were just there for limited time, for starters weren't too sure if could access it cause of what looked like private property, enter at own risk I guess!!
Found during the Cito event. Had to rush back to car as no one had a pen on them
I had hoped to attend the nearby CITO today, but our plans changed at the last minute. We thought we'd come see the trail anyway and had a lovely walk. As we parked near Trailhead 2 I noticed an abandoned illegal campfire spot and was quite surprised to see smoke coming from it. A closer look proved flames were still very much a factor, so we spent about 20 minutes zipping down to the river, filling a water bottle, coming back up to soak the fire, then returning for more water. My shoes are soaked, but I feel that we well and truly CITO'd today.
Thank you for the cache, which Mr 3Prettys found.

Out and about collecting caches for the latest challenge "Mystery at the Museum"....
I have investigated the scene and am now finding the stolen gems.
Parked up nearby and wandered along this trail... was a bit mucky and smelly here - but no trouble locating cache.

Along with the other young ones, we were here for some CITO work and popped down the other part of the track to get this one afterwards.
Walked up from the beach expecting a more 'developed' wetland, ie more removed pest trees/plants. However, cleaning up an area like this is a HUGE job. The track from beside the road looked somewhat unused so I only ventured as far as the cache.
Nice double container and waterproof log paper here and a very secure hide. TFTC.

Hmmm possums. Their fur does make a lovely fabric especially combined with merino but they are a huge pest. TFTC # 13,444
Quick find this afternoon with eltee291. Nice walk down the country trail. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache, the Seagnoid!
Found today with hingis20. Another nice day in paradise so it meant we were out and about sightseeing and caching. Hingis20 and I are from Canada and in Blenheim visiting my daughter and her family. TFTC
Took what appears to be an alternate route to this one but found it safe and dry, tftc
It's such a pity MAF didn't have officers on our borders right from day 1 - - - though come to think of it they probably would never have imagined the damage caused by all the invasive plants and animals we seem to have acquired. It's awesome that so much is being done now to at least try to reduce the problems. I really enjoyed the walk along here. TFTC .
No persecution for the cachers here. Just a nice short walk to an immediate find without need of a hint. Always nice when that happens especially as we were watching the sky in case of showers (which didn't eventuate luckily).
Thanks.
Thanks.
Found it after a few minutes of looking. We saw a possum in a nearby tree, eating some leafs and we've also seen a seal in the river on our way back to camp. Perfect start for out trip on the south island, TFTC
Found with NZDi. After a self-imposed non-geocaching holiday in Golden Bay, it was time to scratch the geocaching itch again, so NZDi and I headed out this way to snap up a few caches that have appeared since the last time we cleared the area. I picked up four and NZDi picked up a couple that I already had. The effects of the holiday must have still been lingering because now I am back in the office logging the finds, I realise that I dated my logs 13/11/18, not 14/11/18.
This was the second find of the evening and we parked on Flaxmill Drive and did a couple of hundred metre walk to GZ. Shortly before GZ the wide mown track turned into a narrow path. As we approached GZ I noticed the doors were open at a nearby property and hoped the owners were not out and about. I needn't have worried as we made the find quickly with the added bonus of a TB which I now discover I have already seen.
now it is back to the car and head out to the Wairau Bar and Grovetown for a couple of Raiders from the West caches.

Parked at Flaxmill road, we made our peace with the dog over the fence, then walked to this.
Thanks to Seagnoid for placing this cache.

We couldn't make it to the CITO but had to see what was being done here. A huge project indeed with Old Man's Beard and Blackberry racing for the sun against a backdrop of willows, hawthorn, thistles and untold more undesirables. Then add introduced animal pests to the mix. Hopefully the locals do their bit too if only as penance for the relentless barking of their canine companions as we walked the track. Thank you the Seagnoid
A day of mixed activities for us, dropped off a package at one address and picked up another elsewhere, found some caches and even managed to place some to assuage the guilt (yeah, right) of a Nelson Interloper claiming a FTF in "foreign" territory.
As we walked along here we were "ambushed" by a very noisy barking dog who seemed frustrated there was a fence between it and us, it continued until we were well passed it's territory. As we approached GZ we noted a chap at the adjacent property so had to be sure we were shielded from sight before grabbing the cache then wandered a bit further along the track before opening it to sign the log.
Dropped TB.
Thank you the Seagnoid.

Walk this here quite often. Not checked for any new local caches for a while. Thanks to the walkers for letting us know there where some new ones to find nearby.
Thank you thank you for bringing us here. We had a lovely walk down here is the drizzling rain today. As discussed with the CO on a previous occasion, we have another wetland restoration project on the horizon so we appreciated wandering and looking. Can't make it to the next 'Beard Battle' as its our daughters birthday but will aim for the next one. TFTC +1 from us.
Onto this second nearby cache after banishing the beard and mrs capperz was also keen to come to this one too, despite passing the car as we went by. Soon got near to the zone and I hadn't even turned on the phone when i suspected we were close. Having pre-read the hint I ghad an idea and dived straight in for a Q E F. All good and replaced as found. August 18 is underway - yay!
Wednesday has come around again, which is normally my weekly quiz night, but it's also a 3 day vortex day and I want/need to find a cache. So I decided that I would flag the quiz and not bother going and get a cache during the day instead. However, with a busy day testing at work left me with no ability to escape from the shackles of the office so I messaged mrs capperz before getting home to say I fancied a trip out this way for a walk and a couple of caches, prior to a curry takeaway - yay!
Got to the end of the nearby road and we took a walk down to the beach first up to check out the lay of the land, pun intended before turning round and finding the track starts off the little road. Decided to head to the Micro first as the light was fading and wasn't sure what the hide would be like. As we neared G Z by phone G P S I headed towards where I thought the cache would be and spotted it on the floor so picked up and rtried to get the log out, but there was no log inside. Hmmmm, strange, not like the CO and we knew we were 3rd to find. As I expanded the search I spotted the real cache and suspected the C O had dropped the first one found (this was true and the imposter has been returned to him). All good with the real McCoy and replaced as found.
A great new area to explore and some new cache finding/placing potential around here I suspect.
T F T C t S and I still top your finds as the most prolific finder.

Fantastic to see the wetlands being cleaned up and a nice walking track established. I'd thought about putting a cache nearby a couple of years ago. Nice and sunny, but a bitter cold wind blowing this afternoon. I picked up a TB to move along. TFTC
We were wondering what we were going to do to qualify for the latest hidden creatures challenge. We have been streaking for a couple of years so our supply of caches around Nelson are starting to thin out. We decided to come over to Marlborough for the weekend to make up the numbers we needed. We had noticed there were many park and grab type caches in this area so this is where we decided to target.
The nearby CITO was the drawcard to get us into this particular area this morning. After we had done a bit of damage to some old mans beard the CO gave us permission to sign this log. So what an absolute bonus to get another shared {FTF}. Thank you the Seagnoid, we really appreciate that

{FTF} today at the local CITO.
While not a dot day or anything else of significance, I made the find of this one with the COs permission. A nice track though here, and we met some locals who had been maintaining it, and/or were keen to continue. Successful day I think, I will be back on future Sundays. TFTC tS.
