Logs
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we have moved South & Inland a bit, enjoying the Ashburton Lakes area drove into Lake Clearwater for a bit of a look around thought wed go for a walk along this 4WD track up & over this hill between Lake Clearwater & Lake Camp, picking up this cache along the way the wind was distinctly noticeable going over tops but nobody around, so cache was an easy find, log-book signed & cache returned as found were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:LS this was #6,480 for us!
Woow what a view - well worth the walk up - thanks CO for bringing us here - TFTC
I love a cache that takes me off the beaten path. Great views in a stunning landscape. The cache is really damp but I was just able to add my name to the list. Tftc.
Hello, it's wonderful here. the views here are beautiful. we slept near the lake and in the morning we went to look for cache. we found successfully. thank you
Camped nearby and wandered up here in the morning. The GPS landed me a solid 10 m away so pleased to locate this one.
After exploring some of the surrounding area today, Mrs nzk insisted on marching up the hill to look for this cache before returning to our overnight spot at Lake Clearwater.
She managed to find a reasonably direct route that didn’t involve too much steep hill walking, and loved the views when she reached GZ. Lots of photos taken! All good with the cache and we picked up a TB. TFTC thomasvl_nz !

Weather turned chilly. Found the right track to climb some of the hill in the 4WD and battled the weather the rest of the way. Rather brisk
We drove some of the ways down the track beside Laake Clearwater and then took a short walk up the hill. Boy was it chilly up there but not raining and we soon found the cache plus some interesting swag which we left there. Cool box and a great view even though the mountains were not visible. We used the compass to see where the glacier used to be. A favourite point for a great spot. Maybe we will return on a fine day to take in the view again. I am glad we didn't approach from the Lake Camp road side as the walk would have been a lot further.
As we were driving back from Crystal….Clearwater, we noticed we were only 230 metres from this cache, so we decided to make the shorter steeper ascent from there instead of our original planned walk up the track. We soon found the interestingly hidden cache with the hint, although for us it was about 6 metres southeast of the coordinates, at S43 36.593 E171 03.258. We too found it extremely hard to open, requiring all our strength. Hopefully this means it is waterproof. TFTC
Great wee cache. Very hard to open. But got it in the end. Awesome views from here. Tftc
Stunning view from here, just wow! We love it here, and can't wait to come back again, there is always so much to explore and just run out of time. Sent the young one in to retrieve the cache as surrounded by so many prickly stuff. TFTC
Found the cache easily enough but had trouble opening it but we got there in the end
Stopped off for this one with Busypaws and Lytteltonwitch on our way home from a caching expedition to Mount Sunday. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
A very easy find but we had a problem opening the container, Bigglesponies did the deed with a bit of brute force for which we were very grateful - after that uphill walk! Found also with lytteltonwitch on a great day out in the area. TFTC
Found on our day trip up to the Lakes to visit family. Forgotten how stunning this place is! Found with Conbat. TFTC!
When Clearwater isn’t. The lake is currently unusable due to toxic algae.
New Year’s Eve caching with the family and first time up around these parts.

We were on out way to Lake Clearwater to camp overnight before a 4x4 trip up the Clyde and Lawrence rivers for the weekend. Had fun caching on the way as you do. The views from here are fantastic. Love the cache container and hide will give a fav from us. Thanks for bringing us here and the cache thomasvl_nz.
A lot of effort has gone into this placement, but the lid is broken.
Log still OK though, hopefully the covering rocks will keep the water out.
Found on an evening MTB exploration.
Cheers and thanks,
S.t.

Perhaps the next cacher could take a new container up with him/her??? This was destroyed and the log was un- usable so just left a name sticker and piled the stones on top of what was left. This was a fun chase and an easy enough walk. Great view and glad we came. Thank you. Oh!!-- and watch out for the Matagourie it is unyielding!!!
Out with BaldEd on a caching adventure in the upper parts of the Rangitata River. We were ahead of a busload of American toursts.
We climbed the hill and signed the log. By having the large stones on the cache has cracked the lid.
Cheers for the cache.

Out with Tufty on a caching trip to Erewhon and Clearwater. Found as we made our way back from the Clearwater Backpackers cache. The container lid was found cracked and so it was replaced upside down to stop water ingress. The problem was no doubt caused by the heavy rocks that had been placed on the lid.
After a a jaunt up mount Guy today I had a wander up to see if I could find this cache..... and I did. Cheers
Playing tour guide for my nephew pdaddy94 showing him some great views around the Ashburton lakes with a few caches thrown in ... First stop for the day parked up and had a quick wander up the hill cache was an easy find luckily the snow hadn't come this far down, very close though tftc
I never need an excuse to go up to Lake Clearwater, but the possibility of a [FTF] of a cache is a very good excuse! It was a pristine morning and the mountains looked stunning. Was pleased to see a clean log book when I arrived at GZ, co-ords were about 8m out but the cache was easily located. Found 9.50am. TFTC
