GreyHams and myself have been targeting counties for some time now and this trip was to be the last of the NSW counties... It would see ALL NSW counties complete!
It sure has taken us through some amazing places in the state as we journeyed through all of the counties, this trip would see the last 23 counties needed of the 129. One again we saw a lot of variety over the four days from the scenic coast, lush green country side, rainforest, mountains and out west to a much drier and flatter landscape.
Counties were our priority for this trip, and an abundance of larges also made the select list, Virtuals, types, old ones, interesting ones and of course DT, if your cache made this list it had a quality that was needed... we also managed a surprise FTF along the way as well!
It wouldn't be a trip without the ladder, or the esky... and good old Qantas happily checked them in with our bags!
Day 1 saw us flying into Ballina, driving North up through Byron, a beautiful part of the coastline where shirts and shoes are optional! After a dash up a hill, it was along the beach to the most easterly cache of Australia, a clamber up the side of the headland for an earthcache and time for a virtual. Driving north to Mooball for our most northerly county and then back down and across to Tenterfield, arriving after a surprise FTF and a long winding drive through the hills where we stopped for the night. Chose our hotel for the man sleeping on the sign, and as advertised, the best beds, and indeed I did sleep as well... the quietest hotel in town where everyone was sleeping and the lady working there the loveliest... and the best Pizza we will ever taste in town!
Day 2 we left Tenterfield with a wave of a local horseman and made our way west to Moree before dropping down and driving to Tamworth for the night. Some unexpected locations along the way had us saying 'there has to be an earth cache on that!' and indeed dropping out of our lists there was and a few extra locations stopped at and enjoyed.
Day 3 was the trip from Tamworth, up to Armidale and back down again to drive across to Port Macquarie before starting our way north to stop in Kempsey. Some interesting caches and tracks, and the good little SUV was the toughest and most reliable of them all for some of the tracks that were lost in the highest of grass and the pollen of the grass seeds that left clouds in the sky as we passed. A trail of challenge caches tested the little car some more and GreyHams navigated us through with ease. The ladder had a work out and some great caches collected for the day with it.
Day 4 we left Kempsey with the plan of driving back to Ballina for our planes back home. Some newer larges had us down some more bumpy wet tracks, some a little more than we could navigate so a short walk to finish. Very tropical with the mountains, even banana trees and so much sugar cane too. A kayak for great DT was indeed a great addition. Also our down fall as the drive was long, the roadworks a plenty and our plane due, it was a rush and many cache changes to ones along the hwy as we raced north for our plane. Just 15 minutes late and watched as everyone else boarded but us. Getting home wasn't so simple, we got to plan 'F' and a journey of planes, trains and automobiles to get us home, but what a great trip!!!!
GreyHams was as always a great companion, driver, navigator, cache finder, planner, ladder carrier, disaster management solver on another very enjoyable trip, NSW counties complete... go team!!! Looking forward to the next adventure!
CACHE DETAILS: Did love this, I mean who wouldn't right! The hint was equally as creative!

Oh what a trip! We finally bit off more than we could chew but it still somehow managed to end well!
Aquilus1 and myself have been striving on a mission for some time now... to get ALL the counties in NSW. We did the hard ones early actually, via two trips flying to Adelaide and driving to Sydney/Melbourne respectively. The previous trip was a simple Newcastle loop, so....finally the time had come....six months overdue because of Covid lockdowns to complete the last loop: Armidale/Ballina.
Of course, its not just about the counties, we crammed in a bunch of larges, DT, virtuals and even a Wherigo.
Day -30: Qantas screw us over and cancel our Armidale flight.... so a frenzied replan and Qantas agree to fly us to Ballina instead....bonus is that the car hire from Ballina comes with UNLIMITED km's.... this is great as we knew we would exceed the max by about 1200km...not cheap!
Day 1: We fly into Ballina, marvel at the super crap roads and all the people not working, but exercising, without shirts, in and around Byron. So glad my tax dollars support these people! After driving north to scary cow country we went west and made it as far as Tenterfield, but not before we got an amazing surprise FTF on a challenge cache in Casino....happy days! Yet another crazy late night pizza guy, and a lovely motel manager who had the BEST beds in NSW greeted us.
Day 2: Tenterfield to Tamworth, the long way, via Moree. Long drive through windmill country with some amazing walks for oldies and great views of cool mountains.....we said to ourselves "wow, look at that, there should be an Earthcache here that we could log fro the road".... and there WAS!!! We repeated this trick on day 3 as well. Got to love that. Outside Moree we found piles of various grains at the rest stop.... I wonder what that was about.
Day 3: Tamworth to Kempsey, we saw Armidale on Sunday... so quiet, but a great Virtual and a ridiculous journey through head high grass....for someone with allergies this was nuts! We managed a tricky challenge cache series and a multi that required Aquilus1 to go crazy high on a tree.... that ladder was well worth it yet again!
Day 4: More larges and then a great paddle for some great DT. The water at Stuarts Point was so nice, we kept going and going.....which in hindsight maybe wasnt the best idea, but we knew how far we had to get, and how much time we had.... the windy roads then roadworks however messed those plans up. 15 minutes late, watching them start to load the plane we werent on just sucked.... but, the HJ's (and our desperation) fueled the many new plans until Plan 'F', for fabulous, came to fruition.
We made it home, a little later than expected with slightly grumpier partners than ideal.... but we made it! Planes, trains & automobiles in the end..... so glad we didnt have to walk from Goulburn!

Today was a very pleasant day out caching with ilook4geo. The caches we found had good information provided and were where they should be. This made it a fun day. Each log had two more names added to mark our find.
Love finding an occasional letter box is always good and this is one that gets a favourite point for the construction.
Thanks so much to Whitey Wiskas for placing a good variety of caches to be found around the Tamworth area.

K8TYBEE, GLISS! and I peeled off for another week of fun travelling around Northern NSW gathering as many counties as was humanly possible. Have managed to clear up much of the state! After a walk up Flagstaff Mountain, we needed an afternoon of drive-by finds.... So we decided on a drive between the leftover trigs and LBH's in the area, with a smattering of trads in between. It quickly became apparent we would not be back in time to pick up my wife shopping, so had to cut loose the trads....
The kids had fun with the combination, and we signed the log and kept moving south.... TFTC!

With no flooding apparent this morning,
I was headed for Nundle
Along the way I found this curious letterbox.
Pretty obvious which one I needed to open,
to gain access to the scrolls
But I first had to do some basic arithmetic.
Why isn't this cache in binary ?? [:o]
Even Noah only used base two
I didn't need any interweb help to solve this Ceasar cipher

Tamworth and Amrmidale Trip March 2020. Day 4. I headed north with Fitzy_1965 along the New England Highway towards Tamworth. Today we decided to stay an extra day around Tamworth and as far away as Uralla. The day was mostly roadside caches, but they were all of differing levels of challenges, especially when you have to deal with Farmers Friends and Stinging Nettles at almost every cache.

Day 4 of our trip. Headed out after breakfast for what turned out to be another big days caching. We aimed to hit some more of the trails around the region. Next stop of the day, and we came up with a quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then headed off to the next one.

Found during a road trip from Brisbane to Adelaide with five days travelling and four overnight stops, via Ballina, Armidale, Tamworth (staying overnight), Bylong, Sofala, Bathurst (staying overnight), Cowra, Young, Cootamundra, Junee, Wodonga (staying overnight), Echuca (staying overnight), Kerang, Ouyen, Pinnaroo and on to Adelaide. With limited time for stops along the way , we targeted one or two caches in each of the LGA's we traversed, and a few extras at the overnight stops to boost the tally. I had a few hours to spare in the early morning so decided to complete a loop of caches near Tamworth before heading on our way. Thanks for the cache Whitey Wiskas!
Tamworth Day 2
Arrived into Tamworth & have set up camp at the showgrounds.
Hubby needed to be somewhere to watch Bathurst. After the start of the race we went out to do some caching. We have never been into this area before & most of the area has great views over the farmland.
This is a great letter box cache. Solved the code to open it before leaving home. FP given

Spending the weekend visiting friends who live just east of Nemingha, and after dropping off the family back at the farm, I headed out to find a few caches...with the focus on a few of the letterbox caches in the area.
With a nice big spot to pull up and park, I jumped out and opened the cache having worked out the unlock code while driving here. Enjoyed the great camo for the cache, so it gets a favorite point from me.

Hi there Whitey Wiskas. Today we decided on a drive out to Nundle. It was a very pleasant drive out and back with rain threatening and finally arriving as we returned home to Tamworth (Austin CP). This cache and log are in good condition. SL. A {FavPt} for the CO because of the extra effort that you've gone to with this cache. We enjoyed working out the code before opening the cache - thanks to Whitey Wiskas for this cache - our find #6589.

Thanks Whitey Wiskas for all you Tamworth Caches Can only take so much Country Music. As it was very hot this time it was good to get in an air conditioned car between Caches
Had to renew my school days with Mathematics , All worked out to by correct ! signed , replaced into a cleverly made cache!! Thanks Whitey Wiskas
Back up in Tamworth for country music again, this being my 10th I think with my first being in 2002 ...which is nothing as many of the people I'm working with have been doing this festival for 20-30 years!
Always great to do some geocaching up this way in the gaps. Especially good that there's some new-ish LBHs here this year. Here I had trouble with the puzzle until a recent log confirmed I might not be the only one. A typically wide open space Tamworth area GZ where I was able to stamp yours in mine and mine in yours. Hi there Whitey Wiskas.
We towed the caravan from Armidale to Tamworth today. As it was a quick and uneventful trip, we decided to fill the afternoon by logging a few geocaches. We can see that the Romans didn't know anything about [BODMAS](https://www.skillsyouneed.com/num/bodmas.html).
We had a really fun afternoon driving around some of the nearby country roads. The caches were all well placed, and the for the most part the coordinates were pretty accurate. We can see that a lot of thought has gone into the placement of all the caches we found today.
All up we found 24 caches & DNF'd 0 in this cache run. Thanks for placing the caches. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places while we meander around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape. (The screw at the hinge end isn't holding anything though.)
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** A small swap.
Regards
Ian & Penny.

This story begins last night, logging the caches that we found yesterday I noticed that there was a cache on the map that was not on our GPS. We downloaded it onto the GPS to add to today's caches. Wow I could not believe my eyes, Dennis was filling the car and I decided to check out the information on the cache and checkout the logs, zero logs, again wow. Then the butterflies, come on hurry up, then Dennis being Dennis went and helped an elderly lady put air in her tires, what am I to say.
Our calculations were good and the lock opened. We were equally surprised to find an empty log book. This was meant to be as my birthday was the twelth and that is the date that I saw on the cache page. Happy birthday to me.
We left two pathtags for others to find, one is our new signature tag and the other is one we had made for QOGM.
