After a late start e set off to complete the lower section of the Dog's Head Trail. On the way we finished of a Lab and picked up a puzzle but had to pass on some tree-fishing caches as there were too many muggles about.With that part of the trail complete and the rest left for another day we headed out to the Walka Water Works. Time to do some walking, rather than in and out of the car. The area was a surprise with lots of interesting features, particularly the building. The current works detracted somewhat, but we guess the work must be done.Another great day!Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache kingfisher_au.**SKI Pair****
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Well we set off for a drive in the countryside today with a plan to try and complete the Dogs Head Trail.Bit foggy to start the morning but lovely and sunny from mid morning onwards.Verge was still boggy in patches but no dramas today.TFTC kingfisher_au
We are heading up the coast to avoid the coldest of the winter weather in Victoria.
Out grabbing a few of this series while we are staying in thea area.The parking wasn't great at many of these hides, so stopped where I could or just kept driving. Didn't want to be the accident, waiting to happen. There was cattle on the road here.

Found with Steam Koala whilst collecting points for Reach the Peak (we needed 10 more caches). Most caches had the zip-lock bags left unsealed by previous finders.

Out caching by myself in the dogs head trail this morning on a very warm Australia Day before traffic picks up. I’d overestimated how many of these I could do in a weekend and inevitably it wasn’t as many as I’d hoped. I came armed with all of the puzzles solved in hopes of knocking them off rather quickly but the heat, long grass, and holiday traffic have hampered that. It might have been a better idea to come with a buddy. This cache was found in good order like all of KingfisherAUs well maintained caches. Thanks for the cache and the geo art!

Dog’s Head Trail by Kingfisher_au
On holidays in Nelson Bay we (me and my junior cacher, Andy) spent a half day last week around Maitland, grabbing one cache (#203) on DHT just to clock up our 300th cache, before calling it quits that day. This morning I awoke veerryyy early and couldn’t get back to sleep so hopped in the geomobile and made the hour drive back to the DHT. I found #196 at 5:06am and worked my way through to #215, then from #1 to #10 where I wrapped up at 7am. 29 caches sought and 29 found, a great result which is attributable to Kingfisher_au’s wonderful efforts to establish and maintain this trail. All caches were in great condition with the exception of #196 and #197 for which the tube lids are broken and will need some maintenance. Today’s outing gives me my biggest day and my biggest month for geocaching. Thank’s for the trail Kingfisher_au. I’ll be back!

Found with Shaneo58 help doing some caches around Branxton before heading to the last part of the Dog Head Trail. Making a quick find for most of these, I contacted the CO with some issues and he has already attended to these before I could log them.

Today I got to do the end of the dogs head, leaving a large piece in the middle for future visits.
All caches were in place, most in good condition. A few 3D printed gems brightened up my arvo.

Wow what an amazing trail of caches. You are so good to maintain them all.
My story ~ I picked up my muggle friend from Greta she had never cached before. So this was going to be a baptism by fire. I did not want to push it to much so we only did a portion of the trail but I think she be back again. At one cache someone pulled up to check what we were doing maybe it was you.
Totally love this and will be back to finish it one day. We saw some amazing views. After dropping off the muggle I picked some more around Branxton. What a great day.

Attempting to complete this awesome trail over a few days for my 60th Birthday Week. Today I had the help of my geodaughter, we successfully completed the task. Such an awesome trail, can’t believe how much work has been put into having this available for us to do! I feel bad placing a cut and paste log, but after a fullish day of birthday caching, I can’t see me logging all of them in one night! Thanks Kingfisher!

Well 2020 has been a relatively slow year on the caching front due to COVID-19. If it wasn't for that it would have been a trip to the USA and Geocaching's 20th year celebrations.
However the crew got back together and The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up for a few days caching up around the Hunter area. First it was to finish off some of the older OZGM series caches then up into the Watagans for more. Most of Saturday was spent tackling the great Dogs Head Trail then on Sunday it was down into Newcastle city for some great caches.
This was another find on our trip.

We targeted a number of powertrails in the Central Coast and Hunter region over our 3-day caching frenzy. The weekend threw up a bit of everything, including a plethora of finds, mountain bush bashing, coastal caching, weather that varied from beautiful to bizarre, sleeping under the stars, some close calls with the flora and fauna, lovely local hospitality and most of all, a great time away with my mates”.
Thanks to all the C.O’s for placing and maintaining their caches for us to find. Apologises for the generic log but with so many finds I couldn’t personalise every one of them.

With restrictions starting to ease in our Covid World, it was decided that 2020 caching really need to kick up a gear, and so a plan was set in motion for The Rats, Steeba and myself to head to the Newcastle and Hunter region. There were a few trails, power trails, and Lab Caches that would be hitting our radars, along with a milestone for The Rats. We headed off on Thursday evening and turned for jome on Sunday afternoon. A wonderful long weekend was had, and our cache finds topped 450 for the trip. All in all it was a great success.
The caches were excellent. Some indeed were amazing, and favourite points have been awarded. The company, as always, was faultless. The weather was varied. We had sun, rain, wind, colder, warm, more wind... A bit of everything! We managed to find a few nice spots to camp, and enjoyed the company of Big Matt and Marcus Vitruvius for dinner at a local establishment on Saturday evening.

Generic log time... Came down from Port Macquarie this morning to attempt to complete the dog's head trail. Beautiful weather for a drive around the countryside, although some areas were a little soggy from recent rain. Spring has definitely sprung with lots of flowers and baby animals in the paddocks. TFTC. A nice quick find. I took the rock and will rehide it. Something was happening in the area. Saw the police twice and he wasn’t travelling slowly.
I joined a trip to Maitland with Aquilus1, dty73, Tankengine, Barb2e, Kitty Katch & Joolay. The weekends main game was to do the dogs head series, but along the way we did some old caches around Sydney and did as many Maitland caches as time allowed. The return journey was via some old caches and some challenges that may or may not be met one day.
Day 2 was the dogs head series and three other series around Kurri Kurri. The R&D caches and many other Maitland caches are absolutely fantastic containers showing great creativity with new tools.

We camped at the rest area in Branxton with wazza9 and Nana Nel and ventured on this trail together. We did the majority on day one which proved to be a good move as the rain came in for day 2. We enjoyed the hides and information about the various dogs, great job on putting out this trail. Thanks to kingfisher_au for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.

Caching on the Dog Head series, today with Liz and Bruce & Wazza9, quick find, great hints, I never knew there was so many breeds of dogs, 179 finds for the day, during the day Liz & Bruce completed there 59,000 find and I achieved 9,000 finds. We learnt about the 'Dogs Head Trail' as one of our TB's was placed into a cache on the trail. After seeing it we just had to come and do it. Who knew that there is so many types of dog. The senery in the area is fabulous, we saw loads of cows and horses but not much else in the way of animal life. Now for the caches
Roads - Very busy
Farmers - friendly and interested
Co-ordinates - Really great
Hints - we used these and had a laugh at the humour that was used, it certainly kept you interested
Hides - Easy - loved the camo tape it really helps the cache containers to blend in and if the CO had wanted to these could have been hidden a lot harder
Parking - Great, OK, not so great and down right horrible. In saying this the cache owner does tell you when you need to be aware in the hints. It just means that you will get a little more exercise walking to the cache from a safe parking spot. The CO is looking after you and making certain you get your exercise. You may need to climb, either up or down, to reach the cache. You may choose to climb down when you do not need to this is, it is all up to the indiviual.
A huge thanks to the CO, what a massive job this would have been to find the places to hide the caches, sort co-ords, write the cache discriptions and now to maintain them. You asked us to leave a favorite for the dog that we feel is our most liked type of dog, for me it is the german shepherd and for hubby it is the bull mastiff.

A huge thanks to the CO, what a massive job this would have been to find the places to hide the caches, sort co-ords, write the cache discriptions and now to maintain them. You asked us to leave a favorite for the dog that we feel is our most liked type of dog, for me it is the german shepherd and for hubby it is the bull mastiff.

Got up early to do this series today. Needed to eventually download for offline use which is why we have now done these bulk logs. We ran out of reception pretty quick and hadn't thought of it. This is a lovely and easy series. Love it, thank you so much! Recommended to all geocachers new or experienced.
We were now on the home run with the Dogs Head Trail and wanted to complete the series. So it was off caching again with ilook4geo and doing them fairly fast as we wanted to move on as well.
We found all except one, so we had to be happy with that. As usual, logs had initials added and all were replaced as found. Thanks you to kingfisher_au for this series and all the pictures and info on so many different dogs.

Last of the Dogs Head Trail waiting to be found with goingplaces2. Had a reasonable success rate, finding all but one in this section. Logs were signed, all were put back, job done. TFTC.
Dog’s Head has now become one of my new favourite trails!! So much creativity and diversity throughout. Thank you so much kingfisher_au for your time, energy and resources.

We had an absolutely epic day of caching, with all of us setting milestone and achieving a new finds in a day record (310). All of the caches were found in good condition, signed and returned into its hidey hole. The 3D printed containers were a real highlight as well - fantastic effort by the CO.

Here is a little information about me. I have been geocaching since 2015. At the time of finding this cache I have over 6000 finds plus 350 hides. I am the creator of the “Duck Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Place for the Australian Capital Territory in the State Vs State - Battle of the Lab Caches at the OzGeoMuster - The Gong Mega 2019 in Wollongong, Australia. In 2019, I won the right to place a Virtual 2.0 Cache from Geocaching.com, but I have not placed it yet. I am just trying to find somewhere that is worthy of a Virtual Cache.
Now let’s talk Pathtags. Currently I have over 4600 Pathtags in my collection plus about 500 Etagz. I currently have two of my own Pathtags (45762 & 46950) with another one in the works.
I have included with my Found It log an Original and One of a Kind, Geocaching poem that I have written. I hope that everyone who reads it gets some enjoyment out of it.

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.
I am currently writing very detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC called "The Author". This Badge challenges geocaches to write logs with an average length of more than one hundred words per log. As of the 25th September 2019 my average Found It log is 165 words per log. I would like to get all my logs up to more than 200 words per log but I will have to wait and see how I go. Currently I am just trying to get my average up by finding and logging as many geocaches as I can. My apologies to anyone who finds my lengthy logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain the highest level with this challenge. After more than 6,000 geocaches (which includes all cache finds up and including this cache, I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task very soon. Progress has been better than anticipated.

On our way to QOGM (Blackall) day 6 of our trip. 38 caches for the day, and 270 for the trip. TFTC
After finding some jewels we decided to utilise the dogs to access the vault. Unfortunately we ran out of time or not enough dogs were utilised to access the vault. Hopefully we i can find a few more caches before time runs out. I had to walk to a couple (209-213) as the youngest demanded a feed so I left the family in the car and kept going on foot. The car eventually caught up and gave me lift to the last two. Found today at 10:20:00 AM. TFTC

With today free of work, I was keen to get out and find a few caches, and was also keen to revisit the dogs head trail to find the last section of caches from 166 to 215.
The theme for today was roadworks...roadworks...roadworks! Whilst I was lucky to able to stop in places where roadworks were being conducted, I missed out on numbers 82 and 83 as GZ looked to be gone on one, and 10 guys were standing in front of the other. So two DNF's for the day, and 48 finds, with only a couple of puzzles and trads left to pick up. A tremendous effort putting all of these out!
