Quick find during Saturday's walk. The lid of the container is broken, but the box is in the plastic bag so the logbook is not wet. Thank you for the cache
It feels so nice to be back on a track as opposed to bush bashing! After completing the nearby Hidden Valley series I spotted that this cache was conveniently located on my return walk back down the mountain to retrieve my bike. As such it was a quick detour off the track where after a short walk the cache was sighted!Unfortunately the lid has a rather large hole in it, but a tactically employed shopping bag seems to be keeping all the water and elements out for the time being! Might warrant a check up however, not sure how much longer itll last! Log signed, cache returned and after being jumpscared by a rogue wallaby I was back down the trail to head home!Congrats Noah on your first hide!
The 5th cache on a 10km run up the hill in the hope of seeing some kangaroos. The run and hunt for caches were a success, the Roo Hunt - not so much.Greetings from Oxfordshire, England. Cache find number 1926.
Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!
Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers CoomaKids! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 2 and we had an absolute blast. After being up late last night we backed it up again this morning with an early start to make the most of the cooler weather and lack of muggles in the morning cold. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed the large number of virtuals, and caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some of the oldest caches in Australia, some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WAC (WA Crew)
Out and about again, headed around Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14534, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to CoomaKids for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Day 6 of my Canberra Mega adventure. Out caching with the members of the WAC crew. The day looks to be another sunny day, so a great day for geocaching . Very happy to claim a smiley here . WAC members- Barnzy12, Lachie1.17, legs5 and Neva2old Some logs signed as N2O or WACThis is my 13056 find Thankyou CoomaKidsfor placing and maintaining this cache.
Came at this one from the east, which was a bit dodgy for this septuagenarian! TftC
It was a nice walk to get this catch. Really enjoyed going up and diwn the rocky gullies. TFTC
As mentioned below, cache container is a little worse for wear at present - did my best to 'package' it up to avoid it being waterlogged during the next rainy period.
TFTC!

Bush bashed my way to this one. Unfortunately the lid cracked when I covered it up after signing. I have wrapped it in a plastic bag. If someone is coming out here to find, could they bring a medium size sistema box pls?. Gnarly bush around here. Tftc.
What a great day for a walk out on Black Mountain. Very little wind, and definitely no rain for a change!
We began our walk at the car park near the botanic Gardens and made our way to GZ before climbing steeply up the hill to the top.
Log signed.

Came along the southern traverse, some of the track is not in good shape..Took the travel bug keychain
We came in from the Lakeview track but on reflection coming from the southern traverse probably would have been easier! TFTC )
We completed our traverse of the goat trail that runs along the southern side of Black Mountain, and then used this cache as a break before tackling the treacherous Lakeview descent (it's not as steep as we remember). It wasn't too long a bushbash to GZ and a quick find once there. Thanks to CoomaKids for the hide
Getting my numbers up today for a milestone find. Not too far from the Virtual I am after; so glad to have it this close. I will have to explore this track tater, too! TFTC
I wanted to get out for a ride to give the scooter a run before needing it to travel to work. I had been leaving this cache till I was ready for a hike, but today it was nicely alone so I could go out for one only. In the end the walk down and then back up again was no where near as difficult as I expected. Nice area.
Thanks for the cache CoomaKids

Out and about for another circuit of the mountain. Once at GZ cache was quickly located and I took the time for a rest while completing the log. All back in place then off for my descent. TFTC. The last for me on this side of the mountain for the moment.
Find #4176
Out for a little caching on my two hour window for adventure! Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between were a few traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to CoomaKids for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Went out with Kittykatch, Joolay, Albida33 and Isopeda for what we thought would be a nice stroll to do the meander on Black Mountain. Turned into more huff and puff than we had expected but managed to collect some other caches as well. This one was found on the way down. Tftc
The side of the mountain is pretty steep here. Found on a walk along the Black Mt trail with a small group. Cache found in good condition.
Thanks for hiding this cache CoomaKids

#12104 - 9:33:00 AM; Out with Sol de lune this morning to clear another section of Black Mountain and top up our daily cache numbers. Left a geomobile down below and then headed up the hill in another to start the hunt along the Hidden Valley. A little steeper than I had anticipated, but made our way down, collecting six from six along the way. Decided as we made our way down a different ridge, that we would collect this one on the way back up the hill to collect the second geomobile. It was a good choice as the approach from above wasn't anywhere near as gruelling as the approach from below would have been. Cache found in good order and replaced as found once we had the log signed. TFTC CoomaKids
Having walked down the hill doing the Hidden Valley series, we had to come back up to collect the second car, so head down the short-ish distance to grab this one as well. A neat little wander and we were soon at GZ and had the cache in hand. Log was signed, cache replaced and it was back up to the car/s.
Thanks CoomKids....and other one of the first hides for me just lately. Fav point for the location of this....neat views.

Came to get another cache nearby and the weather was so nice, the birds were singing and the air was crisp that I decided to get this one as well.

My Geowife and I were out for our 1 hour of exercise and decided to walk partway around Black Mountain.
I decided to use this cache as a navigation point.
About 200m from the cache, I decided that the hill was too steep and that it would be a great idea to take a small trail that would run parallel to the trail that the cache was on but avoid the hill. That turned out to be a bad idea. About 100m along the path my Geowife announced that she could not keep going as the path was disappearing and was on a steep slope. So we turned and headed straight up the hill through the bush. When we hit the correct path, we were right next to the cache.
I did the caching stuff while my Geowife sat and, no doubt, wondered why she ever followed my suggestions.

Hoofed it over from Black Glen on the trip home. Near the access carpark fire trail were loads of tissues about & a condom. Mmmmm nice! A former work colleague mentioned walking round Black Mtn & to her surprise, seeing 2 dudes "getting funky". Further down the track it was rubbish free. Quick find...
Weston Peninsula was far below, it was clear this southern side was pretty steep. It's not as apparent when zipping past in a car on the road below. TFTC...

Other plans for the day had fallen through last minute so I decided on a caching outing and took in the Hidden Valley series close-by. Found this one on the way back down.
A straightforward find at GZ just off the rather steep trail. Cache is in good, dry condition. Thanks, CoomaKids.
This was a convenient cache on my way down the mountain after climbing the difficult off-track ridge to the West. The cache was easily found and is in good condition. I took some good photos of the views in this area. TFTC
Stunning views, lots of spider webs every where, would turn out to bug us the whole day. Thank you for the cache.
I have no doubt it's there. I know I'll sound like a jerk but saying "between rocks" when there are a lot of rocks encourages cachers to upturn all the rocks and upset the habitat for lots of insects and small animals.
If you do this cache wear long pants and long sleeved shirt - it is a fair way off the track and very overgrown. Snake paradise!

Having just walked up doing the hidden valley caches, this was on my track back down to my car. Found easily enough and the views are not bad through the trees, although I can see the rain coming across the hills and it will be interesting to see if I make it back down the slippery steep track to the car dry (I did!) Thanks for the cache cooma kids. 2.16pm
Quick find on a slightly sketchy slope. Cracker location. Thanks for the cache. TB taken.
Cache 6320 on 11 Jul 2020.
Finally decided to bite the bullet and get the Hidden Valley series of caches sorted today. Fox had wanted to do this series as well, so we teamed up and met at the recommended parking spot and headed up the hill! The weather was lovely and the forecast rain only arrived after we were well and truly done. A great walk up the hill and a careful walk down, not wanting to break an ankle like Flintstones! The hints helped us make quick finds at GZs.
Decided to grab this one on the way back down the hill. A quick diversion from the track and a nice big cache.
Thanks CoomaKids for the cache and the fun!

AngelG27 suggested a Saturday outing on BM. We met at a good parking spot and enjoyed a great walk up then down.
On our way back down, we grabbed this one. A rock grabbed my finger, but AngelG27 came to the rescue with a band-aid from her bag of geocaching tools. TFTC

I decided today to attack Black Mountain.... I was originally going to loop around passed 'In Between', "Sound Cache" and "Caswell Creepunder", but then I noticed that half the caches were SomeRandomSeries #417 or such, so I am guessing there will be many more of those carpeting the whole place in the next 3-6 months, whenever DSD gets around to actually publishing them.... so at the last minute I changed tack and decided to be brave and do the Hidden Valley... eek, of ankle breaking fame!
In the end it wasnt too bad, though I should not have tried to contour across from Sound cache..... there was a nasty ultra steep ravine in the way so I ended up going back down so that I could get back up on the other side.
I came down the firetrail, which was a little steep and slippery. My heart sank when I saw that Loci & DSD had been through a month before, so I guess WhoCaresSeries #812 will be up here on this path.... but probably not published for 6 months. So much fun!!

I did this cache on the way back down the hill. Great place for a cache and an excellent 1st hide. Thanks CoomaKids.
I am glad I hadn't found this cache prior to today! Because that would have meant parking, hiking down to it, and then hiking all the way back up that steep track! [:o]
But today I was focusing on a series nearby, the "Hidden Valley", so I had actually parked at the bottom and found them on the way up, and this cache ended up being only 30 metres off the track that led me back to the car, woooohoo what a bonus!
What a great cache this is too, well done on your first hide! You have picked a very sturdy and reliable container, a great nature reserve, and an awesome spot with some good views of the lake! Well done! Thank you!

What a heartbreaker that hill was and so good too! I'm missing my Namadgi walking and the hills are few and far between inside the cities bounds. A quick find on a beautiful day. Tftc
In these coronavirus times, the activity of geocaching seems to fit the bill, providing ample fresh air and exercise opportunities. Today, though, was character-forming with the wind chill bringing the temperature to below zero. I sought out several caches around Black Mountain while walking with a muggle friend. This cache was a straightforward find, being in an obvious position on the coordinates. Thank you CoomaKids for installing and maintaining this cache.
I had walked up the hill logging the 'Hidden Valley' series. I headed to this cache on my return walk back down the hill. A nice sized cache in good condition. The sun was low, turning the surrounds yellow. As I walked down the hill I watched the sun sink below the horizon, and I walked into shadow. The last part of my walk got darker and darker, and I was pleased to get to my car still with enough light to see. The moon hung dramatically in the sky next to Black Mountain Tower. TFTC CoomaKids.
As I hadn't been out for a walk the last couple of days due to the rain, I decided to head out this afternoon and try for this one. I parked off William Hovel Dr and walked to GZ, probably increasing the terrain rating by a star. Once at GZ I soon had CIH. Log stamped and all replaced and I headed back down the hill. There was a lot of activity with some ant nests and I did pick up a few hitchhikers that I had to shake off before driving. TFTC.
Found at 5:36:00 PM
I decided to pop up here on the way home to find a cache. The walk down the hill wasn't as far as I feared, so the walk back up barely raised a sweat on a smoky, sweltering day.
Thanks CoomaKids

A nice steep walk up the hill to be rewarded with this cache and good views. Quick and easy find. TFTC CoomaKids.
Early afternoon we walked to the top of the mountain just under 2 hours covering 5kms with a total ascent/descent of approximately 250m. It was too hot to continue around the mountain so we headed back to the safety of homes to rest. The bush is terribly dry so much so that there's no more bush bashing required as the trees and shrubs alike are shriveling up and very evidently dying in the process. Let's hope the rains come sooner than later.

I said to my son, "do you want some driving practice?"
He said "Yes, and I want to go for a walk."
I said "You want to go for a walk?" (almost in disbelief as he normally says no when I ask him.)
He said "Yes"
I said "Sure, I know just the place" (And there was just enough daylight)
So off we went and parked at the bottom of the road up Black Mountain.
25 minutes later we were at the cache for an easy find. 20 minutes later we were back at the car, before it got dark, and then headed off for some more driving practice.
A lovely evening for a walk. TFTC.

I did the hidden valley series first then found this cache on the way back up the fire trail. A nicely tucked away cache and a pleasure to find. TFTC
A great location for your first cache. I think this one will stay in place for quite some time. Well placed. TFTC
So many tracks to choose from to get down the the cache. Great view. TFTC
Nice spot as if you're looking directly above LBG!:). Tftc and tnln. HOTA
Took a bad approach to get to another cache and ended up in the vicinity of this one - so picked it up while I was there. Black Mountain has so many caches with beautiful views - TFTC!
I came here for the new Hidden Valley caches, but noticed I hadn't got this either!
It was a bit of a detour, but I had the time and energy.
Thanks for the cache!

Descending the fire trail to attempt the Hidden Valley series but came to this one first. A well created hide with a nice view of the lake below. TFTC CoomaKids.
Just finished doing the climb for the Hidden Valley series. Wasn't keen on returning the way I had climbed so I headed for the nearby Fire Trail and BONUS time, your cache was here. Great location, good coords, have a FP for your efforts !
After walking up the mountain collecting the new Hidden Valley series and a quick spin around the base of the tower, it was down the hill via lookouts and the fire trail to collect this one.
Great work Noah - it's a beauty and well worth the detour! TFTC

Wow hard walk down deep to find few caches... I went back to car park and big puff puff up the hills... thanks
Found while setting a few caches in the hidden valley to the west of this ridge. Ta.
Drove to the corner and descended the track for a quick find. It was nice to be up here above the fog. TFTC.
A part of the mountain I have never been to! Great views too. Thanks for the hide
Tftc. After a short walk from the marked car park we made a quick find tonight. Had to go for this one when we saw it, as our grandson’s name is Noah.
Offsite for the afternoon, swung by on the way back. Great views, I expect, hidden by the trees. TNLNSL TFTC
Pulled in here after going to the top and walked down to the cache. Steeper than expected and quite cold with the wind. Cache found quickly, and then hurried back up the hill.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Great 1 st hide . The walk down and back was steeper than expected but once at GZ , the views all worth it .
Blustery up here today and never been on this trail before . Noticed a side hill trail as well which looks interesting .
Many thanks for the nice size container , spot on co-ords and special views .

Chooo ooo [FTF] on a lovely, but windy afternoon! Well done on your first hide! - Certainly very well done! Coordinates were spot on, cool container, and a lovely location! What more could one ask for? So a favourite from me! Thanks CoomaKids!!
Quick find, nice cache, all in good order. Took me down an unfamiliar path. Nice to see it from this angle, feels like on top of thw water.
Piped at the post bt TE, I know where I lost a minute or two getting here and would have made it. Next time.
Thank you CoomaKids for putting the cache out and maintaining it.
