Looked from above, looked from below, but this one evaded us. Either the coordinates are off, we are blind, or it is missing. We would have liked to examine one more feature that was further from where the GPS pointed, but alas, boatie muggles arrived, so we bailed. Thanks anyway
Staying At Bowentown for a few days. Made sure the tide was extra load and found this easily. Second time lucky. TFTC
Bowen Town April 24 5th time lucky was the mindset going into finding the cache. After searching and searching Mrs thought we should go the extra mile and 20 seconds after she had the cache in hand.FP for the frustration and the amount of times we had to search for it. TFTC
Coordinates changed from:S 37 27.353 E 175 58.370Coordinates changed to:S 37 27.355 E 175 58.364Distance from original: 30.3 feet or 9.2 meters.According to Google, here's the co-ordinates.
After quite a search with no luck we were just about to give up hope until I decided to take my shoes and socks off. Shortly after had cache in hand. Tftc
This was quite frustrating but buzzybb took her shoes off & waded in. Co-ords need an update. Persistence paid off.
Could not find it. Had to give Up because of the heat and I was getting sunburnt
Staying at NZMCA park again this weekend and as usual made the trek to Bowentown to seach yet again for this one, must be at least our 6th attempt! It was low tide at the time of our visit today with no one around, all either out voting or preparing for a long night of election result and rugby in the morning. We commenced the search and returned to the geomobile a short time later triumphant!!!!!!Geocaching 101 - read the cache page thoroughly. Finally a smilie, for this pesky little hide, thanks for the fun. Fav point purely for the frustration of all our previous DNFs for what turned out to be a fairly straight forward hide TFTC.
Having a break at Bowentown so I thought I would do some of the caches. No 5. This one I haven't found. The first day there were boats coming in then Peppa spotted a rat and decided to chase it so I gave up. Next day the tide was too high and I didn't want to get wet feet so I will look next time without Peppa as I will have two hands to search with.
Visited Waihi Beach for a short spell this afternoon and picked up three caches in the area. Took a little while to locate this one. Finally spotted it with some assistance from my sister, a fellow cacher, who had found it at an earlier stage. Fortunately the tide was reasonably low, which meant I needed to take just one sock and shoe off to reach the hide! #6412. TFTC.
P.S. Based on the number of DNFs and the fact that most loggers don’t seem to find the cache straight off, I would suggest the difficulty rating should be somewhat higher than 1.5!

We often come to this area for a weekend get away. We have attempted to look for this cache on several occasions without success. As it was a cold & windy day along with a low tide it was a good opportunity to have another look. Unfortunately is was another unsuccessful visit. No doubt we will be back again.
We couldn’t find it either, we thought we looked everywhere. Can anyone else find it?
We'd had a pretty successful day of caching in Bowentown and were about to head home, but Baby Taylana needed his nappy changed, so Mrs Taylana took care of that and sent Mr Taylana in the direction of this cache. Mr Taylana looked for a while, and searched through the logs, but ultimately decided that the tide wasn't low enough and he didn't want to drive home with wet feet! It's a great location, though, and an excellent excuse to return to Bowentown in the future!
Checked cache and everything's in order. Sl8ghtly relocated to better hiding spot.
Had a quick look for this one yesterday, but there were workers at the fishing club and another muggle hanging around, so had to quit it.
Had a proper look at the write up and logs over night and noted something I didn't see yesterday, which took me straight to it today. It helped that the muggle workers weren't there today. Maybe they knock off early on a Friday?
Thanks for putting this here

Came back for a 2nd look with Cympull. An easy find this time, tide was lower. TFC
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
This is the 3rd time I have been searching this demon. Easy to find on low tide. I managed to get the log out with the help of a twig that was drying out on the sand.
Found with Fisha1288.
Deserves a favorite from me.
Cheers, Cympull.

In the area today, so in spite of our better judgment, thought we would give this one another go! Mr Geckoh stripped down to shorts, discarded his jandals and headed into the stormy water - with sea spray splashing and the tide half full he was about to give up when "Found it"
We would not recommend collecting this one during a cyclone but was anything but dull! TFTC

We arrived here to find that we had the tide right . Into the water avoiding several clusters of baby sea urchins. Nothing even resembling a possibility presented itself. Returned to the wharf and read some logs, including the CO’s notes.
Aha, magnetic. That means that the hide is not where the gps zeroed out. Back in but the tide comes in fast here. Didn’t get to have a decent search 8 metres further down the jetty where the metal bits are.

Finally found this one after many failed attempts. It was low tide this morning so perfect timing as the boat club was still shut. Went very methodically through the pier and eventually found the cache. The next finder will be need a pair of twizers to retrieve the log as I must have rolled it too tight and it fell to the bottom of the container, sorry about that. TFTC
Yay - love to turn a blue face into a yellow smiley! Not an easy one at all but once I decided to get wet feet (even though it was low tide) it didn’t take me long. Great cami and a favourite from me. TFTC
Well that’s a DNF for us, got our feet wet but to no avail. Couldn’t take much more of the terrible choice of Christmas songs being played loudly from the Fishing Club!
Can the owner please check cache still in place.

Finally got a chance to replace this cache. Hopefully this ones more "attractive" than the last one!
Happy caching!
Happy caching!
New cache being constructed and should be in place before the end of April. Lets hope this one isn't lost to the tide!
Tuesday after a stormy Queens Birthday weekend. A perfect day for a walk at low tide. A nice hide.
Headed over this way to clear a few non-smilies off the map with Cats&Dragons. The plan was to start in Waihi and head South along the coast and see how far we can get before our other halves call and tell us to head home. To make the most of this a 4am start was on the cards to cram as much caching in as possible.
Got a DNF on this one last time, but then the timing was all wrong with to many muggles to have a decent look. Expanded the search a little from last time and finally came up with the goods. Thanks for the great hide.

Headed over here with HKCB for a clean up of the area an the chance to work our way south along the coast collecting what we can.
Departed home at 4am on a clear morning and hoping the day stays that way.
Moving onto Waihi Beach area for a few that were either 1/. missing last time, or 2/. too many boaties out there but this time was more successfull, must ahve been the dark.
First task of the day, see if I can recall how to turn on the GPS.
Well now that we are all in lockdown its a chance to catch up on the logging that I have been dutifully ignoring for the past several months. Thanks to all the cache owners that placed these out there
Thanks for the cache, thanks for the placement

After a couple of DNFs thought it would be good to check cache. Still there and in good condition.
Happy caching.

Had quite a decent look but no luck. Will keep an eye on it to see if anyone else has more luck.
With the new year started and having put the year where Geocaching came about 10th behind me, I teamed up with CatsandDragons for a good old fashioned Geocaching adventure. With both of our fitness's nowhere where they once were, a bash around Waihi looked perfect. Long enough to push us, but nothing too crazy.
With the walk complete, and with some time still left before we needed to head home. We headed down the other end of the beach to clear out a few of the park and grabs.
No luck today, I'm sure it was there it was just to busy to have a decent look. Next time.

2.20pm. Our third attempt here as the first two were when it was missing. Was in the area today and noticed the tide was out so came for another look. Didn't have the description with me so had a quick unsuccessful try and was on my way back to the car when I met the owner. He checked to make sure it hadn't gone missing so it was then an easy find!!
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Hoped to finish with one last find but no such luck. Couldn't spot the newly placed cache anywhere.
Checked this morning and it looks like this has gone missing again! Version #3 wi be in place shortly.
Finally got it. This has taken a while due to cache going missing, muggles and the tide being wrong but I'm glad to finally knock it off. TFTC.
Over at Waihi Beach for holidays and checked condition of cache. Log still got plenty of room although a bit damp. Nano cache starting to corrode - but should last through summer.
Happy caching

Down this way for some R&R with Mrs stik-a-crane whilst junior was at respite, and EIR-0T was away doing a DOE tramp on Rangitoto......
Nice little cycle path here....
Came back to this one as it was the wrong tide time with all the local fishermen returning from a day out on the water.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We had plans on making an early caching start, but work got in the way. With a revised plan for the afternoon, we met up with Gap to tackle some of those hides we intended on visiting earlier today...
Yes, we can see why some cachers have come to grief on this one. It is confusing, and visitors are required to read lots of sources of information to get necessary hints. We started out were the coordinates led us. We even got into the water and went under... No deal!
We checked logs and CO notes and discovered vital clues... The tide was in and not helpful. But we spotted this precarious placement. We had just done the business and returned the cache, when supernanny arrived. Her tale of woe regarding this hide was enough for us to help a damsel in distress... Thanks Kivells_NZ and TFTC.

Found after a bit of a search, Co Ords 5 metres out. Glad one of us were wearing shorts today, able to collect with only getting legs wet. SLTFTC
Was staying in the area for a caching weekend.
Do I dare try a 4th time to find my nemesis cache at Bowentown Boat ramp?
Hmmm.
Well as luck would have it, I was very fortunate this time!
As I pulled up I was amazed to see two familiar fellow geocachers just walking out of the water! ( well one was anyway)
Fap of Fap and Gap and Squirrel Nutcase!
Nice to bump into you!
Squirrel very kindly helped me out here as he already had shorts on and wet legs....
So I didn't have to take my jeans off like one other cacher did!
Cheers guys...

Did not find it, but will definitely try again soon. I went pretty deep but still didn’t see anything. Can’t wait to find it!
Oh no...third long visit and still unlucky.
Took some great photos though

I had a couple free hours today so took the opportunity to find a few caches. This was our fourth stop and I was pretty happy to see I would be the first finder since the CO replaced. The coords jumped a little between in the water and not in the water but ultimately the shoes had to come off. There aren't too many places to hide a cache here so we were happy with a pretty quick find. Cheers Kivells_NZ & TFTC

Missing cache replaced. Let's hope this one lasts a bit longer.
Location has also changed a bit (moved west) to accommodate attachment of the new cache.
Happy caching!

Looks like this cache has gone missing - will have a look and replace at next opportunity.
On a trip with Mcjandals having a fun day. Stopped for this one on the way home hoping the tide would be out a bit. Had a look from the top and the dry side but couldn’t spot it - so nothing else for it In I went and luckily it wasn’t too cold. Managed to spot a well crafted cache and soon passed it to my partner Signed in the dry and passed back to go back where we got it from. We did get a couple of funny looks from a returning but but they asked if we were doing that GPS thing. Yip and yes we are keen or mad TFTC and fun
Nice find with NZ Flossy today after going up to the new Fenceline cache, Flossy said she'd roll up her pants, but before long she decided nah, and off the pants came, in she went in her knickers!! Needless to say warranted some strange looks from a boatie, LOL Many thanks for bringing me here, Cheers
We arrived here just as a fellow cacher was logging their find! Added us to the log too and enjoyed a chat with some likeminded fellow cache finders! Stunning spot for a catch, especially at sunset.
Second to find (stf) this is a great cache. Love the camo. Should be perfect with some age. Signed the log.
Went for a walk along Waihi beach and afterwards rode to the cache. Got into the car and heard a Lound thud on the roof of the vehicle. After inspection noticed one gull had decided to use the loo. Lol
Thanks for the placement. Nice and dry today.

Heading home after a long afternoon bush bashing in the hills of Orakawa ...headed down to the boat club to locate this cache ...the club was humming and the late evening was peaceful with the incoming tide and picturesque sunset....the tide was in far enough remove the shoes and enter the water ...just as the find was made a couple of other cachers arrived ...how convenient lol...nice to meet some new fellow cachers ..we all signed the log and replaced as found...thanks Kivells for the placement
Got there when someone else was knee deep in water finding the cash! Saved me getting wet!
With Sports Billy, beautiful sunset. Thanks to those that made the honourable getting wet sacrifice!
After a challenging and only partially successful walk up into the hills we thought we'd better find this cache to keep the numbers up. I hadn't read the brief until we arrived. Muggles coming and going- shouldn't they be home by now? The tide was not in my favour. After sussing where this cache had to be- off with my shoes and socks. In I went with jeans on. While partially submersed the muggle alert was signalled. Well I'm here now just stay still. But no these muggles were geocachers as well. Bother, they had shirts and jandals. Did the decent thing and handed the log to them to sign. Then as I clambered up and out I cut my foot in an oyster shell and being me there was blood everywhere. All good as we had the cache. Thanks for the placement Kivells_NZ
Unfortunately, this notification came a little late for me to get a FTF - sat at home having a brew...
Find number 5525. I came over to the beach to see my brother who was coming home from hospital and saw this one had popped up and had not been found. Called when we first arrived. The tide was in so we went and completed the visit. Came back and the water level had dropped and I was able to search easily. Still got my ankles wet though. Thankfully it did not take too long to find. Opened at 3.30 pm to find an empty log. Another {FTF}. Signed and returned. Thank you for the placement
