Such a creative hide! A little bit buggy, lots of flies, but super fun and gives you a good tree climb. TFTC
Very swampy, had a walk to location but think I was on wrong side. Correct side to swampy to walk down
Found with icw. I've wanted to go looking for this cache for a long time because I love the decoration on the webpage. After a fair amount of manoeuvring waiting for the GPS signal to make sense icw was all for abandoning the search. I had seen something promising and negotiated the three-rated terrain to be rewarded with the cache. Tftc.
Thank to a structure we (ICW and ) were able to attack from both sides, undid it and handed the log to myself who signed it. TFTC
Love a good bit of bush bashing. Had to carry the 5 year old most of the way into GZ as the blackberries were a bit of a nuisance. A wet and dirty find. My son loved the container, swaps and adventure.
I took the long way through the jungle, and the swamp so to speak, and the partner said no thks not goin down there , after 30 min looking I gave up, meanwhile partner was up the bank behind me giggling you sure took the long way round to get there, so for future referance to you all, there is a shorter way to get there,
would love to know where it is if u can private message me please
cos i wont be going back there for a retry,
thx

Out for a mandatory family walk. The youngest is the biggest scary cat and hates going off track. As soon as he realised we were heading into the swamp the moans and groans were relentless. Snakes are never far from our minds after a number of close encounters on our caching journey. Today, however, was uneventful, and a bit of an evaluation of the area had the girl heading in the right direction while the boy stayed on solid ground. A bit squelchy underfoot but all good.
I knew that this would be an adventure, so I packed spare shoes and socks and a little towel. I picked what was probably the most difficult route to GZ, across rocks and plants and a couple of small water hazards. Bah. Fortunately the GPS was behaving itself, and the cache was where it indicated. I signed the log and took the easy way out. I did get a bit wet, but not as badly as expected and it was great fun.
Good news was that today was another Friyay (my work gives me the last Friday afternoon of every month off thus the 'yay' part) so a perfect opportunity to work on completing the hard souvenir for the favourite fan challenge for this month.
I started of trekking around Warrandyte hills gold country and then headed over to Croydon for some less strenuous finds.
This looked perfect for something to do on my own. Climbing a tree in a swamp! So in I went and although it was more of a horizontal climb now the cache was found safe and sound.
Thanks 88andy88 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to 88andy88 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Nice work dirtbags. It was very wet to find this one floods had pushed a few trees over but I was too eager and found it worth the effort
“River… Wet… Rain... Mud... Climb..? Distracted… Over here? Oh crap... Wait… I slipped… No, here!”
Welcome to my internal monologue as I found this one TFTC

Out with echidna44. We definately took the long way down. After breaking our ankles on rocks and getting soaking shoes in the water we reached the cache. Youngest quickly located it and we had it signed and returned in no time. We took the easy way out up the dry hill and were very pleased with the little adventure this cache brought us! Thanks Dirtbags Downunder.
Caching in the Chirnside/Mooroolbark area with pinnacle333, we managed to dodge most of the rain.
We entered the hard way like intrepid explorers, where the youngest member did the final assault so we could sign the log. Surprise cache, thanks Dirtbags Downunder.

This was another cache involving long wet grass, soft sodden ground and this time running water. I can see why this was a terrain 3. Eventually arrived near GZ and carefully navigated my way to the spot where I found the container. Carefully signed the logged being careful not to drop anything and replaced as found. Now to tackle the return. Thanks to Dirtbags Downunder for the challenge and the cache.
Wow this was a lot easier than I thought it would be looking at the lay of the land. Glad we did this in the cooler weather as I am such this spot would be snake heaven. TFTC
Too tough for me today. Found tbe way in but GZ is underwater or requiring wading so had to give up for now.
Found 4:56 pm
Left the daily cache a tad late today and after no luck at Rock Hopping headed here with some uncertainty if a find would be doable. Well it turned out to be alot easier then expected, almost able to walk straight to it. Haven't been to this section before it is a peaceful area.

Catching up on a couple of late logs on aches that l found a little while ago, this was one of a couple out this way l managed to grab while at the nearby shopping centre. This one was certainly a challenging one to get and to get a hand on too! Having lived just up the road for several years l remember coming out this way to these wet lands to grab a cache a few years prior, boy has the native vegetation grown though. Had to bash my way in and around waiting for the gps to settle and after a few minutes and a few contortionist moves l had the cache in hand, happily added my name to the book and also managed to keep my feet dry, thanks 88andy88 for the hide.
Not easy to get to on way in
Finally spotted then also a much better way to exit!
Thanks to 88andy88 for the placement, fun and adventure.

A much cooler day today ...so pleasant to be out walking without the oppressive heat. I came back here today with Natookie and within minutes he had spied the cache. Well placed Dirtbags Downunder, thanks for this one.
Went out this morning in the cool weather before the heat was due to return. It was lovely walking in the light rain; such a change from the last few days of oppressive heat. I spent 40 minutes searching for the cache but unfortunately my "newbie" eyes just couldn't locate it. No doubt it was probly right under my nose! I will have to come back at some stage and try again. Thanks Dirtbags Downunder
That's a good little cache. Challenging enough, very well built & placed. Dropped my sunnies & my phone in the swamp but I was getting this thing with or without them. Tftc
I headed out early on a splendid Sunday morning to find a few recent hides, and some long standing placements also.
I've read the description and previous logs a few times over the past few months and finally it was time for the hunt.
With a 50/50 decision of which side to approach, I expected to find myself on the wrong side of the swamp from GZ, but to my surprise I guessed right today.
I had the boots on, but it was relatively dry today.
A cool hide, but no logbook.
I guess the previous finder forgot to return it after its dip.
Fortunately I was equipped with spare log sheets and Ziploc bags, so I placed and signed a replacement log.

A tricky spot but very fun searching for it. Had to navigate through fallen trees and swampland but well worth it when we found the cache. Great job DGS!
Very fun scramble and exciting to find. Log book fell into the water, but in tact - will dry and return tomorrow
Logged with original account BlackOpal2005. We've now decided we need our own accounts so I'm playing catchup.
Took quite a while to find as a tree has fallen directly infront/on it! Great find tho! Definitely wear boots lol
What an adventure to find this one! And at 20:21 it was just that little bit more difficult!
Thanx

After clambering around the fallen trees wondering if this cache had been lost in the recent storm, found it still intact. Not easy to spot unless you are in the right position. Brunch after lockdowns easing at last. Tftc
I had to drop my daughter off at a birthday party so was in the area this evening. I’d spent the morning packing up camp at my sons Cuboree in Gembrook and was already covered in mud so I thought why not. There was just enough light left to attempt this cache. This was a frightful swamp but I did manage to cross the little creek by using the stepping stones and I soon had the cache in hand.
I have been looking at attempting some other Dirtbags Downunder caches so this was my first little taste of what I might be up against. I think an awesome adventure awaits!

### "what are you doing in my swamp?!" ###
there is trouble brewing at the sharehouse
some housemates (to mention no names) love grabbing whatever treasures they can find off the side of the road and displaying them proudly around the commune
other housemates aren’t too flash on that
little did i know that this whole suburb had collectively decided to hold a neighbourhood kerbside collection this morning
barbeques, eskies, tables, dog kennels, paintings, desk chairs, deck chairs, you name it
so coming here was like a hungry little kid walking through a candy store after promising his parents that he wouldn’t grab anything but who would know…?
but my nerve held and i had to satisfy my hunger with other treasures
after a recent day spent trekking over the frightfull hills, it seemed only appropriate that a visit to the associated swamp was in order
embracing my inner shrek, the treasure was found and signed
thanks for the chance to get down and dirty in the suburbs
love your work

Still need a cache for the day, so The Welder and I with my two geokids decided to tick this one off the list. It’s one of the few unfound caches in our local area. I remember when this was first published and although I was tempted to go for the first to find, I was dressed in my corporate work attire and heals and knowing DGS caches... I thought I needed to let it slide at the time.
The geokids hadn’t done a DGS cache with us before and soon loved the adventure of heading out to the cache... but oh my ears!! Master eight couldn’t stop talking!!! The only thing that worked was to point out a muggle and ask him to freeze still and be quiet... the thought crossed my mind ... how many muggles ‘could pass by’... how could I save my ears! But soon on the cache discovery and the find of a quaint stream, all was quiet again! ‘Mum, this is definitely awesome!’
Always love a DGS cache and today’s weather was perfect. Cache is in great condition, no trackable though as indicated. Thanks for the cache. Happy New Year!

Out on my own today needing some quiet time. Good to see the cricket playing again. Its also good to see so many people exercising. I dont believe that sort of bad luck. Whilst tip toe over the rocks i spotted a bog blog. My mind said what out for that and as I wobbled I put my foot right on it. Had better luck with the cache. Thanks for bringing me here 88andy88
Set out with the geokids in search of this. Was easier tban we thought. Water not an issue today. Geo daughter made the final grab
A great adventure and excellent hiding spot. Thank you for a fantastic geochache
With my wife looking for a long run on a rail trail, the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail was suggested. As such with my wife doing that 35+ Kiliometer run, we had some Geocaching time before having to meet her in Warburton. With my L Plate son driving, 999HK helping and me navigating, we were able to find 15 caches for the day
This was one of the must do caches for the day, as I always enjoy the Dirtbag adventures and often get accused for being a #NonDirtbagFan This didn't disappoint, as even if there is too much rubbish it certainly was an adventure. It could have got a lot muddier, if the water even was higher. Son2 was certain that he knew where it was, so as he was looking 999HK and myself stood back and watched and he both failed to find the cache that we could see, and failed to fall in. I know which one we were hoping for. Eventually he could hear 999HK laughing at him and then he saw it. After that it was a quick sign and replace, before they walked back to the main trail by an even harder route
Thanks for the cache Andy & Dirtbags Downunder

Approached this one tentatively after school drop off nearby. I have walked a lot in this area before usually before school pick up. I am finally getting back into exercise. I had a choice of 2 approaches. I took the outer approach as I had read that an approach can be a bit wet. We are in winter but it hasn't been super wet. However, the way I took required a crossing. I slipped a little but safely made it. Located as per terrain. Hmmm, I am a bit short. As I undid a clip my hubby rang and it was at the base in case of droppage. I dealt with it before getting back to accessing the container again. Managed to open, balance while signing log without clambering down again.
I was only able to close 2 clips which was the way I found it. Thanks for the cache. It looks like niggles have found it too. Fav point

WOW what an amazing cache!!

Wow that was an adventure. We used rocks to get across cos there was rain last night so the swamp was pretty full. It was only once I read the comments that I was looking in the wrong place. I climbed the tree because I'm pretty small and mum didn't want to come over. There was a fake spider in it so beware I almost fell over. Took this cool utility knife. That gets a from me.
What a great little trek. Kids arms weren't long enough, so lucky mummy is bigger
I was over in Lilydale today which isn't all that common for me... and this cache is a small list of caches I need to find for a challenge cache I am putting together so I decided to stop off and have a look on my way home (you have to complete your own challenge these days before it will get published... a quite reasonable requirement IMHO).
Although I haven't looked for a DGS cache before, I have read enough cache descriptions to know that this wouldn't be a simple find. With that in mind I set off around the edge of the "swamp" until I came to what looked like GZ on my GPS... but it wasn't! After much looking around I decided that I was in the wrong spot and spread my gaze further afield... yes, there was the cache... quite easy to see... on the other side of what could only be called a small creek!
After backtracking and making my way down the other side of the creek I then discovered that my destination was actually an island... fortunately it was easy enough to jump across from the side I was now on. The remainder of the task of accessing the cache and signing the log book was quite straight forward... and much easier that I thought it might have been.
Thanks **Dirtbags Downunder** for a cache that is a bit more challenging than a *nano on a fence post!*

Today we found ourselves in the area and so decided to take up the challenge to try for this cache. As we made our way the initial going was easy but as we approached gz it appeared to be a little bit tougher. After a couple of try’s we found our way to gz and after a hunt were able to locate the cache.
Retrieving was another challenge but we managed and soon had the log signed and were heading back. Time for a beer
Thanks Dirtbags Downunder for the cache.

A Dirtbag cache generally has a certain standard Decent containers , adventure involved , unique to the area , maybe even some tongue in cheek fun so with a couple of mates and a can in hand we ventured off to take a look , with our little tour guide leading us in the general direction she eventually left us to go in to gz on our own , after navigating different options as the recent rains had made the area rather moooiiiisssstttt !!
Wasn’t long and with no accidents we arrived at GZ , “ HOLD MY BEER !!“ as we took turns to sign the log book Left a Pathtag for the next finder
Thanx for the Adventure Stay Dirty ️

Great little wander around the ponds this morning. This was a bit soggy but managed to tiptoe to the cache, staying dry. Dropped travel bug off to continue its journey. TFTC DGS
Out with Gunks to pick up one he didn't have and three I didn't. Gunks had camera at the ready as I found the cache. Finished the night covered in grass seeds and burrs. TFTC

Been pretty much stuck at home the last day or so due to occasional dizzy spells, just getting out to grab a quick cache for my streak.
Well, this one was frightful! Firstly, I was very wonky heading across the rocks, not sure if my feet or the rocks or my head were moving but sure as hell something was. I was not concerned about the water today as I had my Aussie safety boots on and we all know they are built to be water tolerant . I was concerned about those frightful blood sucking varmints as I trekked through the swamp though, what with bare legs and all. Arriving at the GZ I was also concerted about dropping something (or everything) into the drink, especially the way the container was oriented. For the vertically challenged (for which I am eminently qualified) that top clip was a weensy bit high, should have had the high healed Aussie safety boots
Cache is in good order. Time for the trip home to safety.

Made the trek down to GZ, not sure if we came the best way, but there was what looked like a geo path, so we followed that. Once at GZ, we were careful not to end up with soggy shoes, and after searching around for a bit, finally looked in the right direction and there it was! Should not have taken that long, but we got there in the end! Tftc
Needed a cache for the day and wanted to do an interesting one as it would probably be the only one we got to today.
When looking at the map, we were surprised to see a DGS cache close by. Great. That is what we will attempt but had a back up one just in case.
We have been here before and were surprised that there weren't more caches here as it is a lovely area in suburbia and yet there aren't multitudes of muggles about.
We made our way to a few metres from the cache but decided that the super long grass, warm weather and possible wet feet were a bit of a deterrent.
We retreated and decided to attack from a different direction. This was much better for me in my thongs. We made our way to the cache reasonably easily and it was soon retrieved, signed and returned to its hide.
Great place for a cache although we are glad that it wasn't any wetter.
Thanks for placing this here and giving a reason to visit again.

Out and about in the crazy traffic of Christmas Eve. We wanted to find a cache and take a break from the madness.
This one was close to where we were and a DGS should mean it would be worth the visit.
GT37 was only wearing her thongs, as usual, so after trying to approach through long, slippery, dry grass, we chose a different approach which proved to be better for us.
Made our way to GZ with a few obstacles and retrieved the cache. After signing duties were performed, we returned it and went back the way we came in. This will be interesting when the weather changes I think. Might come and have a look when it does. Thanks for the cache and the break from chaos.

Wow I was thinking of where it might be but it took me awhile, great cache thanks xxx
The geokids and I decided to see if there were any new caches in the area. Luckily for us we discovered this one. Just a few kms from home! After approaching GZ I started to think this might be like finding a needle in the hay stack but soon enough geo senses and experience sprun into action, making it an interesting and creative find. Unfortunately though with all the rain it took 3 different approaches before we could retrieve! Took German travel bug (our first one the kids were very excited) and left some trinkets. Great cache!
Ok probably not my best idea to do this after 30mls rain but we got there. Very wet and muddy and the dog decided to sit in the mud too Log signed, cache safely back in its place and we trekked backroads dry land. TFTC
A Frightful adventure was had in the centre of the swamp. I hope this log helps others understand that it can get quite wet underfoot. But there is an exciting spot at the end of your journey here, safe and dry. Grabbed a dirtbag pathtag, leaving the others for future cachers.

The Omega Empire
Out in the area on a Friday arvo after knocking off early from work. I did drop into home first to grab my gumboots just incase.
Wow some absolute awesome homes near Gz and one house very close to Gz is owned by a well known Australian V8 supercar driver.
After a short hop skip and jump I soon spotted the container and had the log stamped.
Dropped off a TB.
Favorite point for sure.

When I saw this published yesterday I thought about rushing out for a FTF, but I couldn't get motivated to go out in the cold. Congratulations Gunk.
Today I took Crusty K9 for a walk and located the cache. Signed the log and got home before some heavy rainfall came. Thanks Dirtbags, nicely done.
This was day 366 of 366 on my streak challenge.

I would normally look at this type of terrain and perhaps not bother

On goes the old socks n shoes and squelsh in the swamp to get to location
Signed and home bound to some fresh socks
Good one Andy

FTF YIPPEE! Gotcha! Well I’m not a FTF hunter but seeing the local cache come up on the radar and still unfounded after 3hrs or so, aaaand the promise of treasure, off I trott. Knowing 88andy88 I wasn’t sure whether I should strap a ladder to the kayak and head off to the swamp. Ended up with just me and the geomutt (disguise). As I approached the GZ I saw torches, and hello’d the first person as we passed on the path. Near the GZ I hello’d a lady and suggested we were on the same mission but continued on into the undergrowth (jungle). Found a nice way in, and then to tackle the stepping stone rocks with the dog. Anyway we screwed that up, I went, dog didn’t, and the lead pinged out of my hand conveniently sending my phone into the creek. Anyway, always good to test if it is waterproof! Seems to be ok. Then a quick find and log. Back out of the jungle and no sign of the other people, ....... slightly strange. Thanks for the fun 88andy88!
