Think it swims with the fishies now

27-Nov-21
Time to take this one off the map.

26-Sep-21
Been a slip in the area and track rerouted. We think we found the tree (now on the other side of the track) but didn’t find the cache

14-Jul-21
Unfortunately this was too elusive for us today. We were probably a little too tired after about 70km of QC track

22-Apr-21
Birthday today, so partner joining me for caching. Nice and easy!

11-Apr-21
Great view on the track to find it

07-Apr-21
Quick find on the last day of the Queen Charlotte Track. Tftc.

Some extra effort required to locate

Out for a really nice ride to Anakiwa view and return this morning collecting caches on the way. I searched and searched here on my outbound ride and came up empty handed. On my way back another fruitless search ensued. I then had the unusual urge, for me, to place a new container where I interpreted the CO’s hint to be. I then confessed to the CO who thankfully seems quite relaxed about my placement.
Btw I did also manage to enjoy the view across to Momorangi during both visits.

Not an easy find but got there eventually.

Found on our way out of the track. Enjoying the track and the ride. TFTC

01-Mar-21
Crafty one was not where we initially searched.

01-Mar-21
Crafty one was found from a different place then what we anticipated.

24-Jan-21
Had a good thorough look and nothing matches the hint. There has been some tree work here recently so I wonder if the cache has been removed. We weren't planning on caching today otherwise we would have had gear to replace, apologies for that.

18-Jan-21
This cache was found on an afternoon trip to Annikiwa . It was found with my wife on day three of our eight day holiday in Marlborough based at Picton.

18-Jan-21
Container was damaged by the fallen tree so I replaced it with a water tight one.
JDScout and I are spending a week in Picton. We have spent this week exploring Marlborough and finding a few geocaches. Thanks Isis58 for creating this hide. It was find 9467 for me.

======== NZ Mega 2021 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2021 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, October 2021

Quick find, sick tree has now been cut down

Looking at my map of the area here it was surprising to see 6 unfound caches for me.
So here I am with a good friend wandering the trail along side heaps of other walkers and bikers.... was hoping for peace and quiet - did they all not know there is a wine festival on in town?...
Grabbed this on on the way back...seems quieter now.

After finding a couple of other caches in the general area, I decided to go for a walk along the Queen Charlotte Walkway to find some of the caches that have popped up along the way since I was last out here. All good here. Worked out where I needed to look and there was the cache. The track is looking a bit precarious at this corner. Wonder if it will slip away any time soon? TFTC, Biggles.

Found with NZDi. I've been keeping an eye on this piece of track towards the end of last year watching as new listings proliferated like a self-licking ice cream. Eventually the tipping point was reached with six new listings making it worthwhile to head out on a geocaching mission. Unfortunately, at the time NZDi was in Christchurch Hospital recovering from her third operation in three months so nothing came of my intentions. Over the past month or so, NZDi's recovery has rapidly progressed to a point where it was time to go on an extended walk and she chose this one.

We departed the Anikiwa car park at 9.30am and got to our sixth and final cache on the track at 11.10 am. We didn't pay for the QCTLC Track Pass as all caches right up to Anakiwa View are on DOC land and do not cross any private property. The only cache between Anakiwa and Mistletoe Bay that you need to cross private land for is Waima Way (GC5QR64) which I found over four years ago (Jeez have we been caching that long), within 500m of the Mistletoe Bay end of the track.

NZDi was ahead of me as we approached GZ. I spotted the obvious tree but access from the Anakiwa side was a bit precarious. NZDi said the other side was easier, so I dropped the day pack and made a QEF. Cache secure and dry.

Found on another beautiful day on the TA. Scared off a very large spider that had made its home on this cache.

18-Jan-20
A quick find here. Tell you what though, it is a very steep drop off on the outside bend of the track, you don’t want to go there. All good, thanks Isis.

I got the call from my friend Andy and his wife Kirsty that they would be kayaking to Davies Bay from Ngakuta to stay a night, and was asked if I would be keen.
Yes and no.
Not that keen on kayaking with a decent amount of gear for three people, but the rest sounded good.
So I signed up but instead of kayaking I tramped in the short distance from Anakiwa. A good chance this was then to try out my new tent.
I reached camp a mere few minutes before they did, so that was good timing. The other benefit of walking in was the chance to get 5 caches on the way in, of course.
Once we set up camp they were keen on a walk along the track. Ok, there are more caches along there so we made another 7 short stops on this walk while taking in some stunning scenery.
That was the geocaching bit done, the rest was sunbathing, reading, and just generally hanging out while enjoying the scenery and company of the other campers, some of them kayakers as well.
A nice day away from town, 12 caches found from 10 different COs, all in good shape.

Signed with our initials for speed due to the rain! Easy find- TFTC

13-Jan-20
Our planned walk today was from Anakiwa through to Portage hotel, some 22K. We knew there were multiple caches en route and we aimed to get as many as we could. We only had two DNFs and we noticed a variety of cache owners setting different and creative hides. Unfortunately it rained for the first two hours but then dried up with good walking conditions. Thanks are due to them all.
At this cache I noted there was indeed a slight view through the ️ ️️️️

I had to wait out a couple of Muggles at the site, but it was a very pleasant wait. The Muggles were two older local women (uh, like my age) who explained that the large sailing ship at anchor in the middle of the sound was for teenage Kiwis who paid to stay there for a week or so, jump in the water every morning (brr), and work at whatever work is on a sailing ship. No iPads allowed! Of course, I could have the story a bit mixed up, but it made for an interesting conversation. Then they moved on and I scrambled up to a quick find of the cache. TFTC!

Successful hunt on my short walk out from Davies Bay...almost completed the Queen Charlotte! TFTC

Checking the geocaching map for somewhere to walk today and spotted a couple of new caches in between our smiley faces and a few further on so decided this would make a nice walk on a lovely day. Lots of bikers, walkers, runners and dogs out to enjoy it as well. TFTC.

Found with Kenny on a lovely day. Forgot our pen though and my phone battery died before I could take a photo ️

It's a warm day out there, and it's cool and shady in the trees. Nice. Every now and then a little glimpse of, well, Momorangi, showing in the gaps.

I saw some a couple of new caches come out on this trail and started debating what to do - decided to get them after work today. Count up the hours involved. Hmm... will need a torch. I have some lieu time available - why not leave work at 3pm? What about lunch? The boss said okay, so here I am. I figured the rest of the local crew would not be able to come at such short notice, but taybeedragon might be along for the ride - as expected, she was in.
It's a nice quallity track, but it has a fine layer of mud ofer much of it - I should have brought my gummies rather than my nice new mesh hiking shoes. But it's a wonderful day and and I am getting in some quallity tree time.
Breafly considered contributing to yet another self-licking icecream (see https://coord.info/GC6ZTEA) And place a couple more but in the end decided not to. I got back home at 6pm - if we had done the same caches starting after work it would have been about midnight!

Please add the $ attribute to this cache. Costs $12 to walk here.

Another stop along this walkway. Love walking through these trees with the added bonus of the views out to see. This one is snagged and tagged. Cheers

Had an early call up from The Seagnoid for a walk at Anakiwa. Yep Im in - pick up at 3. No change of plans make that 12.30. Its been raining here early morning and weather changeable since then. Thankfully its a lovely afternoon for a walk but track wet and muddy in places.

Wow, another great view from this track and another great view. Nicely squeezed in after the last cache and a welcome addition to the caching trail. Most of the time when we're walking it's just on, and on with an obligatory stop in Davies Bay. Headed up for the cache and soon added the name to the FTFers. T F T C Isis58

When mrs capperz cut her heel last weekend that was the end of any plans I'd had to race out and make a play for these newly listed caches. As it was I'd have needed to be quick as pc and Nanzie made the raid and snapped them up. Not much planned for this Saturday so with an eye on the weather we made a tentative plan to head out to Anakiwa and hope that the recent rain hadn't left too much behind on the track.
A good walk today, 12km round trip from the track start and decent timings of 2 hours to furthest cache and a hour and a half back. There were plenty of small streams an mini-waterfalls around, all recently boosted, and was glad for boots and shorts as the path was running in places.

With the CO when this was placed so logging now the FTF has gone. I was quite distracted inspecting the tree that had turned turtle and now has its upper parts in the sea. I suspect that had we been here a few weeks earlier this cache would have had to have a different name Smile.

13-Oct-19
Logging for the record as Mrs SoBad was with the CO when it was placed.
We went to the Bay for another cache after this and the spelling seemed to be unaltered. The view across was worthy a cache.

12-Oct-19
Paddle chick was heading up to Rocks hut for anover night stay .I was going to walk up the Grampians to get an Earthcache,
we both had a change of plans and decided to head for Anakaiwa to see if we could get the 4 ftf caches that had popped
up .What a gorgeous view of Momarangi bay I had been there and stayed but haven't been on this track before Thanks Isis58 for placing this cache

I was all set do an overnight tramp into rocks hut but procrastinated this morning. Even though I need to clock up a lot of kms in the next two weeks the thought of 25 was a bit daunting. One of the SIS team had mentioned last night that these were to be published soon and Id dismissed them as an option. When the emails came through I decided to ignore them but putting my boots I decided why not. So here I am with Nanzie carrying my fully loaded tramping pack even though it's now a day trip just to get some training in. It probably would have been sensible to take the pack off before getting this one but since when have I been sensible and it did provide entertainment for Nanzie Big Grin FTF Big Grin Isis58
