There has been a lot of clearing up in this area and I suspect that this tree is the next one to be chopped down. Because of this I decided that it would be best to archive now
Still there. Campground is in great shape... maybe because overnight is not permited
A quick check and cache is in good order and thank you to the geocacher who found it on the ground and replaced back in the tree. I am very grateful
Found with Gummi_Venus. Interesting campground that is in quite a state now. Thanks for showing us this new place. It was a nice walk.
Walked round to this one didnt think it was still here but spotted it on the ground out in a neighbouring paddock! Retrieved and placed in tree. What a mess the camp site is in.
#23049. First cache of the day and the biggest walk (given we had to park on the road). Did a short bush bash as we neared GZ that turned out to be unnecessary. Quick find once at GZ. Took an easier route back to the car. TFTC.
Must work out how to turn off the auto logging of my found caches with my new Oregon. It's bloody annoying. StreetWalkerNZ and I headed out after morning coffee to target the Windmill geoart, plus a few other caches that were en route. This was the first stop. What a mess the area is in, obviously some sever flooding and scouring has taken place. My first obstacle was the gate, SW went through with relative grace but with my shorter legs, I had to sort of commando crawl through the lower section . Not a pretty sight. Once we reached the hiding place, SW quickly spotted the cache. TFTC.
I was coming back from doing a drive test and saw this on the GPS.. I remember being here one night to grab the other nearby (which is still in place) but don't recall why I didn't extend my walk to get this... so anyway, today I changed that. Nicely hidden away at GZ, glad I didn't get it that night... think I might have missed it! TFTC lytteltonwitch, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 2 find(s) of 2 today, making this find #4334
Another month, another challenge. I don't know if I'll manage the full 28 day streak but I'm keen to see how many days I can manage to get out and find caches this month. This is Streak Day 5. Wandered across the rather forlorn camping area and on to the cache. Found after a short search. TFTC, Biggles.
Not sure if it is because of the danger of fire, flood or toxic algae but it seems a shame this area is currently closed. Lots of campers on the opposite side of the bridge and road though. Wandered through to make a quick find of the cache. TFTC # 18,795
Did a quick check on the cache and it is still there. A bit of growth on tree made it slightly harder to reach for the CO who has short arms. I don’t recall the fence being so close to the tree.
Nice easy find after a couple of drinks and a game of cards, stayed in the FC nearby, thanks for thr placement
So much gravel from the floods. Don't see why they haven't just leveled off and reopened.
Nice easy find... Bit of an uneasy retrieval as I was perilously close to the clickety clack of the electric fence wire shorting out on the branch beside it. Good sounding clack too, so probably some volts going through it.... No dramas though. Cheers
Nice and dry, boy has some serious water come through here in the recent floods - TFTC
As we are now in level 2 from 8th September geocaching is now permitted again
Disabled as we are in lockdown and geocaching is not a permitted activity during lockdown. Didn't think that I would have to disable caches that are not easy to get to without driving but too many idiots ignoring level 4 rules
Checked cache after recent floods and was very surprised to see that this cache was OK. Area is extremely muddy and you need to take care
I needed to find at least 6 caches today to bring my number of finds for the 3rd October up to at least 26 and thus into a deeper shade of green on GC's Daily Finds Calendar. A perusal of a map of my yet to be found caches showed that the number should be easily achieved during a visit toward the Rakaia Huts.
This was the first cache attempted today. As I parked up outside the campground gates - it was gated shut - things looked so much more promising than my first find attempt when I had to abandon because of muggles with their tent were camped right next to GZ. No campers = no problem today.[^] But watch out for that electric fence! Thanks for the cache lytteltowitch.

Nosynel and I found a few geocaches on the way to visit our son and his fiance in Ashburton.
This was JDScout and my first stop on the way to visit our two nursing students who have placement at Ashburton hospital. A cute container. Thanks lytteltonwitch for creating this hide. It was find 8890 for me.

Out caching with mum for the day. It was meant to be the baby expo this weekend, and I was meant to have a stall there, but thanks covid, it was postponed again... so mum & I went caching instead.
Found a few together, though I was so pregnancy tired I was probably holding us up in terms of how many we could- have found!
Thanks though to all the COs for the caches Nice to tick off some more from the map.

Nice quick find with daughter on a sunny morning. Camping is not available at present, and the gates are locked, so we walked from the road. TFTC!!
Loved this cache container so will get a fav from us. Out for a girls day of caching and having fun. Thanks for this cache lytteltonwitch.
Cache replaced with temporary boring container until I can find a better replacement
Out for a bike ride around the area. Rolleston to Coe's Ford to Chamberlain's Ford and then back to Rolleston.
Only one car parked up here but they were far enough away so as not to see me poking around at GZ. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.

Heading home after 5 days in Prebbleton area grabbed this cache on route, Cache all good. TFTC
A quick one to the start of the day, I've been going past of recent waiting for a time when no campers were nearby and I finally found a muggle-free time, so a quick diversion and hazaaah! Cheers
A nice quick find today with Ms_KR.
Things to do around town this weekend so we cruised around some of the newer caches.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Lovely wind in the willows here. Could have stayed all day but there's a few more on the list. Tftc
Several people picnicking so we went round on their blind side and used the trees for cover. Interesting container. TFTC
Very quiet here today. Had a little meander to GZ, love the container LW,TFTC, it's a nice spot!
The container was a nice surprise and made me smile. Thank you for the cache, LW.

A neat little hide and not been near here for some time. Mind you took us an age to remove the logs container. Needed our trusty dentist's tool. Thanks for a fun little find.

Spied the new publication early in the evening but it had just started to pour with rain... hmmm .....decided to stay dry! Later on in the evening saw it was still unlogged, it had stopped raining, so decided to pop out. Soon enough at GZ making the find and sign in a quiet corner of the reserve. Nice one. Cheers.
