Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are staying at Millicent for the week, finding some of the caches we should have found if we had not been prevented from attending the 2020 Mega by Covid19. Thanks for the cache. LNCU.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Staying in Millicent for a few days to grab some finds placed for the ill fated Mega because of Covid. Thanks for the hide. LNCU
We were out for a late afternoon caching around Millicent. The clouds were thickening and a few drops of rain started to fall at times. We enjoyed visiting these caches. Thanks to witchwayz for this hide.
Found it Tftc. Doing caching in Millicent to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary . Found some. Missed some
Replaced cache and updated name from STCL... I'll be there for you to STCL....Sadie
I don’t think I have the dexterity any more for this type. I don’t bounce very well. TFTC anyway.
Tftc. Grow tall! I think some branches have been trimmed making it harder to scale. Should have brought a small child but I managed. All in good condition.
SL at 11:45am. My first one of these types of caches = challenging but attainable! Visiting family in Millicent for the weekend. TFTC!
Well Sadie I have to say you can now clean my clothes as they got a tad dirty finding your cache!!

Thanks witchwayz for this "challenging for me" cache. Easier finding than retrieving.
This day started off with a complete change of plans. The trip to Mt Gambier was shelved considering the possible covid case there and we decided to aim for a few High D/T caches followed by the GV2020 series..... Unfortunately, the weather intervened and we did not get this plan completed.

Early in 2021 I received an invite from GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to join them on a caching trip to the Mega in South Australia. As planning got underway some caches with high Favorite points, very old caches, and the On Your Bike Series were listed as "must-dos"
The trip ended up being 10 days of solid and very enjoyable caching with quite a few highlights. The find count for the trip was around the 950 mark when all GCA, Adventure Lab, and GC caches are included. The high point for finds was a day of 335 finds in the one day, which would have been more, but a sudden storm put the end to caching for the day. No one was interested in getting out of the car to find a cache in a downpour in the dark
We were lucky enough to find Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin's Cache, and my favorite for the trip Barossa High (From 21st of January 2001 with the original log book still in place) all in the one day.
Unfortunately, the caching around the mega was beset by bad weather and the day we had put aside for Mount Gambier was scrapped due to a covid case in Mount Gambier on the previous day, so we avoided the area. We all enjoyed the Fishing series and just managed to get the remaining of these before the light failed for the day.
In the end I managed to completed my D/T grid for the first (and possibly the second time) which was my aim for the year, although some of the D/T combinations were not really achievable in Tasmania without a 3 day overnight bush walk.

Our last full day and we had to scrap plans for visiting Mt Gambier due to a COVID case. We still had plenty to do around here so kept ourselves busy.
Had a laugh at Budgietas' reaching skills here.
Thanks witchwayz
The Millicent Mega trip had been a long time in the making, for the Tassie trio of stainless steel rat, budgietas and gooseandegg, due to a couple of false starts thanks to COVID19. More and more caches were added to the extensive list as planning was being finalized. We focused on old caches, large caches, certain D/Ts, virtual caches, the On your Bike series and a few other special ones on our journey. Our route saw us caching in Adelaide for a few days before heading north via Gawler to the Barossa in preparation for the On your Bike series, whilst basing ourselves at a gorgeous cottage in Waikerie. We continued on to Renmark for a night before the long trek south to Millicent.
Some of the many highlights along the way were Gawler Fort Knox, Dustin’s Cache, Barossa High and Riverland (the oldest surviving geocache in South Australia).
At the Mega we caught up with a few of our caching friends, made some new ones, and of course missed many who could not make it this time. The weather was not the best in Millicent, and a COVID19 situation in Mt Gambier altered our plans but we had plenty of caches to keep us busy between showers, including tree climbs, plenty of adventure labs, and the entertaining Finding a Fish series - giving the new pole a good workout for the first time.
Thanks to all the CO’s who have placed and maintained all these caches that made our adventure so memorable.

Our last full day in the Mega area of Millicent and we had planned to search the Mount Gambier area but we scraped that idea and came up with a bit of a different plan to fill the day.
Even with the numbers being down it was great to attend a Mega and at least get to meet some fellow cachers after so long and catch up with a few people, we flew over from Tassie on Thursday and after spending a few days in Adelaide we headed Northeast to clean up some series and then head South to Millicent for the start of the Mega long weekend.
This trip has changed so many times since it was first booked and I'm glad we got to do it at long last, to start with it was just myself and GooseandEgg nipping over for the Mega and then it was a few more days with the addition of 1 toolman, then with lockdown it was back to two of us but then another Tassie cacher in the shape of BudgieTas stepped up to the plate and we were back on for an over a week trip to grab a few caches before the Mega and then finish off with Millicent before flying home on the Tuesday.
Thanks for the cache.

What a wet and wild weekend for GeoVenture We decided to pack up camp this morning and book into a motel for a warm dry night. With a break in the weather, we took geo-pup for walk grab a few smileys. TFTC!
Saturday the official start of the 2021 Millicent Mega event. today was filled with a few caches before meeting others up for some power trailing then heading out in to the forests for some more caches. The weather today was filled with rain off and on but that didn't stop me and Mogni. I was glad we had the 4x4 instead of Mogni car for the trip.
Sharing the caching fun with ilook4geo to pick up some of the caches in and around Millicent while attending the mega event. Had a lot of fun and this one was a nice easy cache to find. Log was signed with two more names and we were one the move again. Thank you to GeoVenture2020 for putting this cache into play.
Found this cache along with goingplaces2 at a quieter time. Log was signed and replaced. TFTC.

With border restrictions and cases coming close to Portland we weren't sure we were going to make it to Millicent. Then the house sitter said they weren't available so once the border approvals came through it was decided that Mr Morris would nurture the dog and Lady Morris would do the border run.
Day 2 was a bit drizzly but it didn't' really rain so she was able to pick up a few caches along the way.

SA Mega weekend with sir_spectre, a huge weekend of catchups and hunting geocaches. At different times over the 5 day weekend we joined up with other teams caching as either the misfits or mystery randoms depending on the numbers of people and who organised.
Unfortunately the weather was very typical of the south east and put many teams off exporing the forests and some great creative caches were only found by a few teams.
For me this was a little bit different than for others as I lived in the south east for 15 years and worked in Penola, Millicent and Mount Gambier. Strangely this also meant I kept running into people I knew each day.
Lots of wildlife seen, wombats, echidnas, snakes, kangaroos and wallabies. Luckily the snakes in particular kept leaving the paths as we were walking.
Thanks to the Mega committee for all of their hardwork organising and the many locals who have placed and maintained caches (this includes me )
Thanks to witchwayz from mogni

Set off from Mt Gambier this morning after doing a search for tree climbing caches in the area. This cache popped up. However im not sure the cache was in the correct place as there was no climbing involved.
Anyway. Thanks for the placement.

One of the troubles with geocaching is you have your eye on the prize. I completely walked past this to get the other one further down the track. There's a few poised rabbits here so be careful with your dogs.Tftc.

Had a caching day planned with LiB, earthlight and the X-Trailers out in the pine forests targeting some high D/T caches as well as some of LiB's cool creations. We ended up having a fun day that took us to Glencoe, Nangwarry and Kalangadoo, managing some group finds at the start of the day then leaving the group to do our thing. [^]
After finishing at the event and completing some of the stages of the Adventure Lab we decided to find a few caches before heading back to the caravan park.
Easy find by torchlight. Lots of rabbits out and about tonight.

Huge day out with the hound finding caches around Millicent and Mount Burr. Geohusband had to work so reassessed my plan as now the hound was in tow. He had already been out hunting for 2 hours before we left the farm so was already pretty tired. He was then super excited about the road trip and wore himself out even more before we started finding caches.
He loved his day and apart from a scary moment when he got bitten by something (thinking bull ant) on his paw he had a most excellent time. We found 40 caches and enjoyed the celebration event (Rex had burger and donut scraps). He was still puffed on Sunday night.
We found some really cool caches and thank all the CO and especially the Mega committee for all their splendid efforts. We love country caching.

( Hopefully we'll be back for the big one when it's able to go ahead )
Teamed up with Sebastbat, and JEM.
Despite rumours of snakes nearby, all we found was the cache!!!

cache the countryside safely distanced at least a roo or an adult brown snake's length apart ! ! !

The great Southeast Saunter with Anymules down to the Millicent area to find caches associated with the postponed GV2020 mega. But with leave organized and accommodation booked the caching trip was not postponed! [^]
Day 4: Today we set off in search of some unusual D/T traditional combinations, just in case an SFE for that grid appears in the future. Of course there were plenty of stops along the way as we were passing.

Day 358 ( Friday 21st ) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Millicent today. A total of 2 for the day and 6529 the trip. TFTC
Found during a very enjoyable caching trip to the South-East of SA with e.gregory1 for a few days. On Day 1 we traveled to Robe via the coast road, Princes Highway, through Meningie, Salt Creek, Kingston SE and camping out for the night. On Day 2 we drove around Beachport to Millicent and completed the GV2020 puzzle series before resorting to cabin accommodation in Millicent due to deteriorating weather. On Day 3 we toured around Millicent, out to Kalangadoo to do the bottle component of the wine geo-art series (leaving the glass for another day), down to Mt Gambier and Port MacDonnell, then back for another night in the cabin. Day 4 saw us return home through Penola, Naracoorte and Keith and back along the Dukes Highway. Targeting a range of cache types (Traditionals, Puzzles, Earthcaches, Multicaches, Wherigos, a Letterbox and a Virtual), a multiple of cache attributes, and a wide variety of Difficulty/Terrain combinations resulted in some quick drive-by’s, tackling the trails, some tree-climbing, often using elevation devices and enjoying some nice walks and great scenic coastal locations. Thanks for the cache witchwayz!
FeatherWaite and I thought we might chance our luck with the winter weather and head down to the south east for a few days of camping and caching. While the caching worked out well, the weather deteriorated quite a bit and we ended up having to abandon the camping idea after the first night and find ourselves a cabin for the next two. However, it did allow us to save some time and find a few more caches that we might otherwise have not got to in the time available.
After making our way down the Coorong, visiting a selection of targeted Traditionals, Multis and Earthcaches, we rolled out the swags on the first night under a beautiful clear (but cold) night sky near the coast south of Robe.
The following day we cached our way to and around Millicent until well after dark, picking up over 100 Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual and Earthcaches, including the GV2020 geoart series, before settling into a cabin for the evening.
Another day caching around Millicent on the Friday allowed us to find another 85 or so targeted caches before the rain arrived in earnest and we were glad of the cabin accommodation again that night.
We made our way back home to Adelaide the following day via Penola and Naracoorte, again picking up a nice variety of caches along the way.
Overall it was a great trip, with over 200 Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Letterbox , Virtual and Earthcaches found along the way, many with quite high difficulty and/or terrain ratings. Most of the caches were in good condition, unless otherwise specifically noted. Favourite points have been allocated to those that I particularly enjoyed or found very clever along the way.
Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches and the various puzzles. I am looking forward to my next visit to the region, possibly later in the year for the rescheduled Mega event at Millicent in October.

Like previous finders we spent some time, over 10 minutes, searching fruitlessly. We then read the hint and some logs. Oh dear coordinates 20+ metres out. We then put Phetlern's coordinates in our GPS and found ourselves at a spot where the hint made sense. The cache container was spotted and soon retrieved.
Thanks for another Sadie cache ho_hums. A good cache but the coordinates need up dating.

While staying in Millicent and enjoying a public holiday Monday we decided that might be a good time to catch some of the caches near the centre of town as the place was pretty well shut down.
We much prefer ‘urban’ caching when there are not too many muggles around
This one took us way way longer than it should have....serves us (read ‘me’) right for not reading all the cache details
Many thanks for the hide ho_hums

**S37° 36.165 E140° 21.905**
This cache is classified as a Traditional (cache at listed co-ords) but the GZ today was some19m away from where the cache is located. We note other logs also remarking about the accuracy of the co-ordinates.

We always enjoy looking for caches with quirky themes.
This one wasn't quite where we expected it to be - thanks to Davidwazza for his co'ords, our name is now in the log.
Satelites today had our GZ 19m SW of where we found the cache!
Our thanks to 'ho_hums' for adding this cache to the geo-gameboard.

#17065.The first full day of caching in and around Millicent with Robmc, collecting the Trophy of Challenges and a few other caches before we started that, and some more after lunch. Although we signed all the Challenges, at this stage I do not qualify for several of them. It will be "Write Notes" for those.
I found the hint a tad confusing but after reading a few logs I thought we should not be looking at the ground. Widened the search considerable from where my GPSr said I should be looking and soon spied the container at an 18 metre discrepancy. Rob did the honours of retrieval and then we walked down the well kept rail line to the next one.
Thanks ho_hums

Day One in Millicent to clean up a few caches before Easter with BettyBoo3747.
Completed the Challenge Cup and few stray caches around Millicent.
Not a lot at GZ, but from others logs (and the attributes) we knew which direction we needed to go.
Thanks, Robmc.

With the coordinates a little off, Geodad spotted this on our way to another cache. TFTC
Found the little green man but no log book or container. We will be back. And back we came and found it!!
Thanks ho_hums and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

We were misled by previous logs yesterday (or didn’t take the right direction) and looked in the completely wrong place. Thanks to the CO for the heads up which had us back here today signing the log. We are definitely singing now. TFTC
Mr Tardis was in Millicent for a caching weekend. I found this one after a short search with Freddo and Moneydork.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache ho_hums.

Today was my final day in the south-east, before geocaching back to Adelaide. After a cave dive in Pines Cave, it was on to the geocaching festivities, with an expedited pack up and drive to the Ashlar CITO that was just happening around the corner. I then met the group at a close D/T 5.0/5.0 geocache to see group ingenuity sign the cache. It was then a visit to some cave geocaches, and collecting a few more Millicent smilies. I detoured then north through Furner, and collected a large cluster of caches spread around the back roads. I was soon having enough doing random rural geocaches solo, so made my way back to the highway, and started making headway towards home. I made sure to stop off at an oldie geocache that I had eyed many times driving along this road, which was a few kilometres towards Lucindale, before passing through Kingston SE and onwards to home. It was a day of variety and clearing some more geocaches around 2020's mega destination.
I had heard about these inaccurate coordinates at a previous dinner, so at least I had a heads up that the coordinates were out. So once I had parked my car, I sort of ignored the GPS and went to the most logical hiding place, which it turned out contained the cache. For what it is worth, my coordinates for the cache were S 37° 36.165' E 140° 21.905'. A nice adventure in retrieving. Other than the coordinates, the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks ho_hums for another fun cache placement.
