That would be mine. It leaks, so be sure to warn any purchasers or they will want their money back. (Or just throw it out. I need a new one. Or turn it into a cache.)

Who belongs to a clear plastic water bottle with a green top? It is not attracting much attention on ebay.

That was a lot of fun.

I attended with a broken and bruised earthlight. JJ52, earthlight, locus cache, myself & Rex started the day with the Adventure Lab at Dead Mans Pass Reserve and on the way out stopped so JJ52 could sign Dead Man Walking. That's where the caching ended for Liz and I. After a running, stumbling tumble I needed to get Liz to the nearest hospital.
Several hours later, wrist in a cast, we stopped by briefly for one final smiley.
A great anniversary celebration with a fantastic show of geocachers.

Thanks for the Sandybration Freddo

17-Dec-20
This evening after work, I travelled to Sandy Creek for the *Sandy Creek Sandybration* community celebration event to acknowledge the anniversary of SA's first geocache placement. Afterwards, I stayed around the area calling past Lyndoch, and then heading west to Gawler to complete the *Dead Man's Pass* Adventure Lab. As darkness fell and I finished off a few other Gawler caches, I returned home.

This was the reason for my outing this way north. I had wanted to arrive here earlier, but work got in the way (as it does), and so I came about halfway through the celebration fiesta. Wow, you can tell it is a Freddo event by the number of Geocachers who have come out of their way to be here. Or perhaps it was the nine month lead time that was provided in organising this one. I think the Frog was ahead of his time, knowing that COVID-19 would hit in multiple waves, and hence timing this event nicely when SA had successfully beaten the Parafield cluster.

The car park was well full by the time I arrived, and it was evident that this conservation park had never pondered the thought of so many people at once! I then made the walk/jog to GZ, finding a well organised and COVID-19 safe event. I chatted with a number of people, and tried starting/spreading the rumour of a Rev1 GCEB *Sandy Creek* new geocache that the CO was going to put out. It initially seemed a crazy and sacrilegious idea, until the rumour circulated around a few times, that everyone seemed to think it was a great idea (go figure!). However, rule number 1 about the spreading of a rumour is to come prepared with following through... as I, or no one else had a spare container or logbook to actually place here. Bugger! Perhaps a new cache can be placed here on its 30th anniversary... or maybe even a plaque should be laid in honour of Karl Grump (RIP). A shame that this cache couldn't survive or be resurrected. Thanks to Alex for his stories on geocaching in its early days, and a special thanks to the Chocolate Frog for a well organised celebration event here!

So a while ago JJ52, earthlight, LiB and I had planned to cache all day on our way up to this eventCoolBig Grin[^]Cool
That was the plan![^]Wink
Then fudge and coffee with ttrogg became a very pleasant distractionSurprisedCool[:X][^]Smile
Finally we ladies left in 2 cars to cacheSmileBig Grin and started with the Dead Man's Pass adv lab which none of the others had done yet[^]Cool
Sadly our day did not go to plan as earthlight had a fallSadTwistedSad in Dead Man's Pass and ended up going to hospital for a fractured wristSurprisedSadTwistedSad Thankfully it was only a fractureSmile and she wasn't a Dead ManRazz[^]
While LiB waited patiently with earthlight[:X]Smile[^], they kicked JJ52 and I out and told us to go cachingWink
Everyone was very pleased to see earthlight turn up at the event!CoolBig GrinSmile Sadly with her arm in a back slab and a sling on it tooSad
After attending the really CoolcoolCool Sandybration event, JJ52, AnyMules and I went to Nuriootpa and did the Bush Gardens adv lab which was a lovely stroll in the dusk and darknessCool[^]SmileBig Grin
Only 1 real Smilecache found today, a few adv lab WPs and the great Coolevent attended[^]

Amazing to see all the geocachers here today to mark this anniversary[^]CoolBig GrinSmile
Great turn outCool, out door setting[^] and living history[^] (tall tales and true talesWink) being shared by those who have been in from day dot[:X][^]Cool and those who have more recently started geocachingSmile[^]
Another brilliant Freddo eventCool When an event coaxes people down from the countryCool and also those who rarely attend eventsCool, the reason behind the event must have been a bloody good oneRazzBig Grin[^]CoolSmile

Thanks Freddo for organising this celebration. It always amazes me how you can put a table in the bush with a COVID plan and scan and people come. Well I did. It was a fun event!! Repect to Karl. - Pics. 20 years is a long time when you think about it. [^]

Clear skies from TeamAstro.

17-Dec-20
A great turnout to see where it all began in SA. Lots of people to chat to, some of whom the memory needed jogging, the only jogging I do these days. Interesting to hear some tales from "the olden days".
Thanks for the event Freddo

*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*

It's been awhile since we last attended an event (just over a year actually Red Face), so it was great to catch up with a few people we knew, meet some we didn't know, and reminded us we need to catch up with even more people from both groups Big GrinCool[^].
Sounds like the caching social scene has become a 'thing' and reminded us there are soooo many more interesting places to go and find caches CoolCool.
Thanks Freddo for organising the event and reminding us that caching history is a 'thing' as well [^].

17-Dec-20
A nice afternoon for a walk in this park where it all begun for SA. I was only in grade 2 of primary school back then, does that make you feel old?
Thanks Freddo for the event!

17-Dec-20
A change in plans means that Owl will be able to fly by.

17-Dec-20
If you see Kaye in 2020.

Thanks for the GCEB event Freddo.

17-Dec-20
If you see Kay in 2020 tell her the cache was archived in 2001.
But here we are at an event for an old bucket that was discarded here 20 years ago. Strange people we are. But not shonky at all.

17-Dec-20
Thanks for the bushland event Freddo.

17-Dec-20
Enjoyed talking to some familiar cachers and meeting others
Thanks Freddo

17-Dec-20
Arrived at GZ and just had time to say a few hello's and to sign the log before being dragged off to do a nearby cache! After returning most everyone had left, so made our way back to the carpark and managed a catch up with a few more. TFTE

17-Dec-20
Perfect weather for a wander in the bush!! Quite a turnout!!!

17-Dec-20
Arriving at a very full carpark, an hour into the party, we followed the crowd sounds to GZ...
Great to visit the spot where it all started in SA!
Thanks for the lammo and event.

17-Dec-20
Mrs M attended this cache with mogni. Got to catch up with lots of caching mates and some cachers we rarely see. Enjoyed the event and ambled over to King Russell's Retreat with the second group.
On the way home helped a fellow cacher stuck near Williamstown for about an hour.
All in all a memorable event. Thanks for hosting in such an historic spot. Enjoyed the chocolate too, as I didn't get to eat dinner until after 9pm.

It was a great opportunity to celebrate my (almost) 20 years of caching revisiting the place where it all started in SA. And also great to catch up with caching friends old & new. Thanks Freddo for organising.

Community Celebration Event: # 3
Find ???? Event # 124

A great event at Ground Zero for Geocaching in South Australia.
A brilliant evening with friends old a new.

Thanks for organising the event Freddo and giving me some inspiration to do some local area historical research.

Also thanks to e.gregory1 for allowing me to be navigator for the 10 hour journey to the event.
(BTW there are many caches along they way we came).

Attended the Sandy Creek Sandybration event after taking the opportunity to spend the afternoon caching in the Gawler area. All was going well until the trip home, where I ended up with a flat tyre at Williamstown. Shouldn't take to long to fix, so I thought. Jacked the car up, got the wheel nuts off but try as I might, could not get the wheel off (corroded on solid!). At this point Mrs M from Aussie M & M, Sir Spectre and mogni arrived to offer assistance. We kicked the wheel, prised and hammered to break the seal (all to no avail over the course of the next half hour), made various phone calls for help and advice, contemplated joining the RAA and resigned to getting it towed off home. In the end, resorting to geocachers ingenuity, we searched around for a suitable hefty post (which, incidentally was the top rail of someones permapine fence held on by a single 8-inch nail on one end and a large spike through the centre at the other), carted it to the car, and using the spare wheel as a support, used it as a large ramming rod from the other side of the vehicle. Of course it work a treat with the wheel popping off on the first blow. The post was then returned to the said fence and re-affixed a little more securely than first found. At this point Mr M arrived with additional devices, which included a jimmy bar and a larger hammer, but these were no longer needed. Of course I am very grateful to Aussie M & M, Sir Spectre and mogni for kindly stopping to help, as we all departed for home to very late dinners! Thanks for organising the event Freddo - it was great to catch up with so many people and enjoy a walk in the Sandy Creek Conservation Park!

17-Dec-20
It feels almost obligatory to attend this event and Owl is grateful that the stars aligned to enable her to do just that. Thanks for the additions to the waistline, the chance to catch up with familiar and less familiar faces and some interesting reminiscences.

17-Dec-20
Luckily I was on school holidays and had plenty of time to get to this event. I caught up with Aussie Mary and we had fun shopping and caching on the way to the event.
We brought along chairs and enjoyed a drink to celebrate 20 years of geocaching in SA. I have only been caching for 16 years so a little behind others who attended.
A great event and wonderful to see some cachers I hadn't seen in a while.
Thank you

17-Dec-20
An event that had been marked as a "must attend" and "must not miss" in the Adders diaries and we were not disappointed. A great turnout to such a historic celebration.

Thank you Sir Amphibian for the event and the organisation and nibble supply although we missed out on the chocolate frogs as we took advantage of the near-ish proximity of another old hide nearby and with a few other of the patrons made up the first team to go and find the Russell's Retreat cache.

A Great event and worthy of a Favourite point if we could.

17-Dec-20
I am sure it's normal when you are in your 3rd month straight of 60 + hour weeks to drive a hour the opposite direction of your house for a event. But this was a special one. I ate dinner in the bush at the event, what can i say other than i have been up since 400 am ? Good event and good location. I even walked and got the 2003 cache " nearby ".

If you see Kaye in 2020 you can believe it can only get betterer. Interesting to see where it all started in South Australia. Sort sacred ground. Do not disturb. A truck load of people turned up for this event. I wonder if the car park has ever been so full. Lovely to have a finder of the orginal cache that was sadly archived a couple of months before we started playing this game. That is the way it goes. See you all again in 2030.

Great bushland event...nice to see where it all started in SA...a pity the original cache was archived...
Thanks for supplying the single wrapped munchies which was a great source of energy for walking to the not-so nearby cache...
It was great to see so many here to celebrate with this awesome Geocaching Community...
Thanks for hosting the event Freddo Smile

17-Dec-20
It was good to be able to attend the event this afternoon. And a good turn out too.

The history of the original cache was enlightening. Interesting that the ‘Friends’ of Parks group at the time saw fit to have the cache was removed but obviously weren’t so worried about the sheets of rusting roofing iron that still litter the area nearby.

Thanks Freddo for hosting the event.

17-Dec-20
Thanks for a wonderful event (and the edible Freddo trackable)

17-Dec-20
A later than anticipated departure from work meant I arrived at this historic event with only a few seconds to spare before it ended. I still managed to Covid safe register and sign the red book with 19 seconds to spare.
It’s a shame the cache here didn’t last as it would be great to have a 12/2000 cache in the tally. Hey ho.
Nice to catch up with fellow cachers even if only for a short while. Thanks also to señor frog for the nibbles which kept me going for my walk.
TFTE Freddo

17-Dec-20
Mr Tardis and Mini Tardis came by to help celebrate this 20 year milestone. It is nice to finally visit the exact location where it all began in South Australia. A great park and good to see a turnout of so many cachers.

Thanks for the event Freddo the Chocolate Frog.

17-Dec-20
What a great Community Celebration Event in a very historic location. It was great to see so many people come out here and thanks to Freddo for the snacks. Loved listening as some of the "older" cachers talked about the early days a long time before I started caching. Big Grin
Thanks Freddo for organising this event. Smile

How could we not attend this event? I hope Karl Gramp was with us today as we celebrated Geocaching in such a positive way. Thanks for bringing us to this site Freddo and for the special Covid safe treats too!

17-Dec-20

RIP and thank you Karl Gramp!

The spirit of early geocaching was very much there at this worthwhile event, gathering cachers from far and wide to celebrate our activities.

Many events mark, well, an excuse for an event, but this one truly brought new and "old" cachers together to commemorate, or "sandybrate", a significant event in time - the beginning of it all. One that couldn't be missed!

Thanks to Karl for putting it so close to home and for Freddo the Choc Frog for keeping to the spirit of the original Razz And thanks to the "living history" cachers for sharing some stories from the early days Big Grin

Purrfect Di was tired from working all day, so watched the carpark parade of cars driving in, and then out again as they realised this was a larger crowd than usually assembles at Sandy Creek.

Sebastbat and I saw and caught up with a few folks we don't get to see enough, including a great chat with one of the fellas who inadvertently got me interested in this hobby a decade ago SurprisedCool

The caches away from the big smoke make the whole thing worthwhile Big Grin A great setting.

Will there be another cache here one day... we wait and see Razz

Stay covid safe, have a great xmas season everyone !!!

How could we not celebrate the first cache placed in the state! RIP Karl Gramp and thank you.

16-Dec-20
Plan on being there.

This anniversary is also the anniversary of Janet’s birth. Pretty sure alternate plans are unlikely to involve a visit to Sandy Creek. Have a great event all.

Geocaching HQ is posting this Announcement on all Community Celebration Events.

As the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) situation is evolving rapidly around the world, Geocaching HQ urges all Event hosts and attendees to prioritize the safety of themselves and their attendees.

At this time, we advise Event hosts to consult their regional health authorities to understand the guidance regarding gatherings of people. Generally, Geocaching HQ leaves the decision to Event hosts on whether to continue hosting the Event and to attendees on whether they will participate. In some regions, community volunteer reviewers may suspend publishing new geocaches, including Events and/or may disable, retract, or archive already published Events, in accordance with guidance from health authorities.

We want to allow flexibility for hosts who need to reschedule their published Community Celebration Events due to COVID-19 concerns. Community Celebration Events can be hosted until December 31, 2021. If hosts wish to reschedule their Community Celebration Event:

1. Create an Announcement log to notify users that the Event is cancelled and may be rescheduled.
2. Disable the Community Celebration Event.
3. Contact the publishing reviewer to retract the Event.
4. Update the Event date.
5. Submit listing for publication.

We understand it can be very disappointing to miss the connections that are made at Events. But please remember that geocaching is a location-based game, and locationless Events or virtual logging of Events are not permitted by the [Geocaching guidelines](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#eventlogging). HQ appreciates that the community is so strong that players want to keep in touch virtually and we encourage doing so using other online platforms. Read the [Geocaching Blog](https://www.geocaching.com/blog/2020/03/12-ways-to-keep-geocaching/) for tips about how to stay active with geocaching during these challenging times. Thank you for your understanding.

Wow. I didn’t know that. What a great choice of location. Have plenty of time to plan a day out around it.

I like a bit of history.....to walk where those 'before their time' once walked. Maybe this requires the wearing of 'costumes' from the Y2K era

20-Jun-20
Will put it in the diary now! A good reason to celebrate!

19-Jun-20
Working on the assumption that I'll be around since it'll be almost Christmas time, I'll be attending Smile
