Dash! Had a good look but sure looks like thats already happened recently. Dont log these without a good hunt. Sure is windy up here today!Carried on and had some success along the ridge (all except the clay ridge views one) and was going to have another hunt on the return but light was fading fast and I still needed to get back to the car at the remembrance garden Will keep an eye on things and return another time!

Nope, No find here. There are actually three signs, and lots of stumps. Will put a watch on this, I'll be back.

Catching up on missed cache logs!!

...Today is 9 October 2021. Going through my Drafts on the Garmin I realised I forgot to log quite a few geocaches this year! So I'm catching up.
Sveppi and I were up here on the first weekend of Level 3 of the second lockdown. It's been tricky to keep up with the rules, but at that time we were allowed to go a bit further from home to hunt. I've done trapping here for the Remutaka Conservation Trust and I have seen goat, pig and deer sign in the past. So we had a long day loop walk. This cache was where we started the off-track adventure. Cache took a while to find as there were a few likely hint objects in the area.

Thanks for the nice quick find at the Junction this morning. I’m new to the area and looking to make friends with other Geocachers and other American expats.

As I neared this cache site, I checked the hint and thought that the use of the word "the" meant there would be one of each of the items. However, there were two of one and plenty of the other. So, before I went crashing into the bush (as I normally would), I waited for my GPSr to settle. Once it did (or I thought it did), I went looking. After a few minutes of seeing nothing of interest, I checked my GPSr again and thought it may well be the other one after all. Once I relocated, I found the treasure fairly quickly. Thanks, mtbskier, for placing a cache here and helping make my hike more enjoyable.

On my way around a loop - Whakanui to McKerrow then across to the Crowther access road. Quick find here using the hint - plus the usual tell-tale signs of a cache hide! All good here - nice to get a fairly recent hide - thanks for the cache!

Came for a walk to here this afternoon, a good bit of exercise in warm and pleasant weather. I was pleased with my times, I made it up from the end of Sunny Grove in 45 minutes and back down again in 35 minutes. The cache coordinates were about 15 metres out for me but I found it in the first place I looked simply by using my instinct. The hint - if I had needed it - is very explicit so I didn't bother to take any more accurate coordinates. An enjoyable walk, thanks for the cache and for giving me an excuse to come this way again Smile

#11,630. {FTF} at 15:05 and first day find. We found GC1G8R6 Way to McKerrow (Wellington) back in November 2010. Great to return to the McKerrow Track in Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt. Met with a Remutaka Conservation Trust volunteer en route, who was returning after checking up on some of the kiwi in the area. It seemed all was well on this front, although more stoat trapping was still needed. The tracks and GZ were otherwise all quiet at the time of the visit. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.

The terrain rating should be a bit more than 1.5 stars though. We note that GC1G8R6 Way to McKerrow (Wellington) was rated at 3.5 stars for terrain.
