Logs
Hi 2y'stassies. Today I/we attempted to find your Moorland Wander 08. Unfortunately, one of the following happened and that made us unsuccessful in logging a find :1. Hadnt rubbed all the sleep out of my eyes. 2. Hadnt had breakfast so was concentrating on filling my stomach. 3. Had someone else with me and they couldnt be bothered looking and wanted to leave. 4. Had muggles hanging around waiting for me to leave so they could relieve themselves. 5. Wrong time of day. 6. Wrong time of night. 7. Wrong information given to me about where the cache is hidden. 8. Coordinates out by more than 10 metres. 9. Nobody has blown up the nano factory yet. 10. Too much or not enough water / light / GPS signal. 11. Flat battery in navigation device. 12. Cache has been stolen / muggled. 13. Such a small cache hidden in such a large area (fake rock in a boulder field / pico in west coast horizontal scrub)14. Too far up the tree to reach with the ladder AND the pole. 15. Too far down the hole to reach with a magnet or grabby tool. 16. I gave up looking. 17. I need to be somewhere else soon/now/a while ago. No offence intended! One of these may actual fit my DNF on your cache.
Thought we'd give it a go despite previous logs but we too came away empty handed
Sorry 2y'stassies, after a thorough search I did not come up with the goods today for your Traditional, Moorland Wander 08. It may be worth a sanity check to see that it is still here, I have been known to be cache blind at times.
Another where we literally had zero ideas. We must be blind as we could not spot a pipe. Must be there though as it was only checked less than a month ago. Have added to watch list and hope to glean a hint from next finder. TFTH 2ystassies
While in the area today, we did a maintenance check on this cache. All is well.
Parked closer to the actual car park west of GZ and i took the walk back not wanting to repeat my wussy effort at #9 here.Got to GZ spotted the pipe and after a bit of an inspection i worked out quickly what was needed to be done to access the booty.I was SL almost immediately at 12:08 on Tuesday 21 November 2023.Squeezed up against the fence whilst a car went by after i found it (those motorist Muggles didn't see me find it that's for sure) A sneaky idea of a hide this one, it was cool The log within is dry.TFTC 2y'stassies
We included this cache on a maintenance run today. No problems - it is still there and in good condition waiting to be found.
The weather has deteriorated but we are still out caching. Sadly only found 2 Of 4 caches we looked for. The vegetarian was so high at a couple of the caches. Have put this down to why we had 2 dnf. TFTC
Catching up on some very old logs while traveling, in this great area of Tassie. Found while out and about exploring the area.
Enjoyed another in the Mooreland Beach series and made a quick find.
Thanks 2y'stassies for placing the hide for us to find.

Lovely afternoon at one of my favourite Devonport beaches today. Trying to finish the Moorland Wander series and then have a bit of a beachcomb to see if I can find some treasures. TFTC and the series 2y'stassies.
Out and about caching with whitewebbs, it was a nice calm day to walk this track.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Out and about caching with Tassie Trekkers in the area and this was one that we found from two series we had targeted, the Moorland series and Pardoe series. The Moorland series were a test as had to result to crawling on hands and knees to get through the overgrown track in parts. Luckily all the caches were found. Once on the Pardoe track walking was a lot easier and it was a pleasant ramble collecting the caches along the way. The weather was perfect for the task set today. Lots of muggles and their dogs were on the beach and we only came across one on the track. TFTC
Found nice and easy..it looked out place so it was a easy to spot... had to work fast muggles nearby..

We had planned to tackle this series this afternoon, however with the tide coming in & the beach full of muggles, we opted to just get the “easy” ones!
It is such a shame to see this are so overgrown. It used to be a favourite place for Mrs Coder to visit with friends, riding horses up and down the beach, or walking with the dogs.
It was great to still see this happening. Thanks for the cache!

Well, the weather man was right today. We had this little sortie planned in advance, so with the very necessary coffee making equipment on board we headed to Moorlands for a business like grab for this series. This is the order in which we did them, and Mrs rhubarbroad went and put her hands on #7 while we waited for the GPS thingy to get itself organised. All caches in the series found, and all in good nick. After #7 -1, it was to the car for a brew up and log the last three. #9 was being difficult, so we gave that a rest after an extensive search and went to this one which is a nice clean cache in plain sight. Love it ! TFTC
nother day off from and I decided it would be worth trying to clean up a few dnfs in Devonport and doing the moorland walk for a second time. Left Hobart at 7am with geo kid e in tow. Weather was fine in Hobart as apparently it was all day. Stopped, refilled car and got breakfast on the way in Kempton. A very nice egg and bacon sandwich to fuel to day.
Back on the road again, with geo kid’s nose in his Nintendo ds and me following that dotted line that has become common Again over the last forthright.
Just past Oatlands some dark clouds and the first sign of some rain. This cleared up by around Campbell town.
My second drive of the new road by passing Perth. It’s a very clean and easy way through the area. Have to give this a tick of approval.
As we approached Devonport there was some dark clouds, but these past over before arriving at the moorlands end of the track... started with the first few caches on the eastern end and then walked along to the western end. This track is very poor. Trees down in many places and simply a difficult walk along the “track” .... and I use the word track very loosely.
Eventually got all the caches and fought back out to the beach, the walk along the beach was a lot easier. All coordinates were good except for number 8 which was about 10 metres out according to my gps on the day.
Anyway little drive around to the other track and started by collecting the few that I didn’t attempted due to the rain last time, and then the cache “waiting for the ferry - gnarled and old tree” which I dnfed last time. Nice to get this one of the list.
Next it was the walk to the point.... interestingly one of the caches I found was very familiar.... coastal walk... which was found to be familiar as my name was already in the log book.... I must have found it and not logged my find. Oh well, at least I can mark it off now.
Most of these caches were fairly simple. 7 provided a problem as it was fairly well buried.
Walking back to the car was easier as we left a few caches to walk to, so the walk back had something to do.
From there we went to Devonport to get rid of some dnfs and a few adventure labs. 4 ways was nice to mark off along with the last of the walkway caches. Grabbed lunch while at 4 ways, and it started to rain while eating in the car. I said this is probably a shower.
Well. How wrong was I. It continued to rain for the rest of the day. A few small breaks allowed us to grab a few adventure caches without getting to wet, but quite a few we had to simply brave the elements to get the caches. Really enjoyed the adventure caches in Devonport and the bonus caches.
As it was raining heavily by the time we finished the adventure caches, we drove towards port Sorell to grab the 5 or so new caches out on the roads around there before heading for Perth to grab the nice little cache in the wetlands.
From there a quick detour to Launceston work office, and then off towards home. 46 caches I believe for the day.
As we pasted Oatlands would you believe it stopped raining.... weird it was only rain8ng north of Oatlands.
Arrived home at 7.30 which is an early day for caching in the north of the state.

Approaching gz soon spotted the hide...unlike the previous cache.
The cap was on tight as...eventually prying free.
This end of the beach was fairly quiet with near all muggles parked further east.
Many thanks FTC 2y'stassies...cheers ST.

Because of the similarity in hides between nos 8 and 9 this one was a quick find as Mr Beetle knew exactly what to look for.
Thanks.
Thanks.
This was a bit of a hard slog with the path being much worse than I remembered it, if I had know it was this bad I would have brought a whipper snipper, pruning saw and a chainsaw with me!
With 5 pairs of eyes most of these hides were an easy find, the highlight of these caches was briefly meeting up with Spreyton22 near the end of this run of caches.
This was a trip North primarily to meet up with some fellow cachers we had not seen in a very long time, Friday afternoon myself and Gooseandegg set off from Hobart to stay in Ulverstone for the night before meeting up with TazScout for a couple of days of caching along the North/Northwest Coast, we hadn't put much planning into it to be honest, with restrictions lifted we just wanted to catch up with some good friends and have a laugh.
Half of the caches we planned to find I had found some of before when they were listed as GCA caches and some of them even had their old containers with the GCA listing numbers in them, others were new series that had been put out since I was last up this way and we did our best to find as many as we could in the short time we had.
Thanks for all the caches

Actually this may have been the one with the stubborn cap now that I think about it (yes definitely this one). A little bit of persuasion was required here to access the pole.
Still a nice and easy walk but I've done the track before and I know how it gets!
Thanks 2y'stassies

We enjoyed a "brisk" (ie wintery wind) along the beach, to the east and then came back to collect #10, #9 and #8.
Unfortunately we ran out of time due to work commitments, but we will be back to visit the remaining caches !
Thanks 2y's for a great set of caches.

Today gridge98 and I headed to the North west to do the moorland trail, another trail in Devonport and a few around Latrobe. A great day out, this cache was found along the way.
Apologies for the late and generic log.

I saw this series publish when I was in Adelaide and by the DT combos it was in my list to do on my next trip to the state, on arrival today we soon saw why this trail is barely walked, it needs a nice trim as it’s very overgrown, we slowly found the caches getting into more dense bush as we went but it was a great adventure and great to put this track to use, all the caches were found in great condition and silver to us.
Today nettieknows and myself headed to the Mersey/Devonport area to collect some new and unfound caches in the area. We tackled the new moorland series, Victoria bridge to town series and a few around Latrobe. It’s great to get out and about in such a time we live in.
Thanks for the cache
