Find # 15876Been a while since I've been out solo for a long trip. But things change over time. And I'm living the past.So with some time off work, I've jumped the border wall to chase down some long trails in South Aussie... don't know how many I'll get. But I've got quite a few downloaded. I do have a short hit list ( of 2) caches to help with a challenge. All others are just for the Adventure and countryside views. Armed with all the necessary TOTT from tweezers and magnet grab to 6m ladder and 8m fishing pole. I believe I'm prepared for all that I'll come across. (Just had to leave the Kayak at home )Day 6. Lameroo to ?, well aiming for Naracoorte. With the big days n trails n short distances behind me. Today's plan is to just follow the icons. Make a few grabs around the Lameroo and Pinnaroo area before making my way down south. TFTC GeocachingSA
Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA. Have stayed in Naracoorte a couple of days and are ranging further during the day to grab some finds. Thanks for the hide

10:34En route to the South Australian Mega Event, second day - Bordertown to Tailem Bend. Collecting smiley tokens on the way. It was interesting to note the caches we had found on previous visits to the area, over quite a few years. It would be interesting to know how long the tree has been resting. Thanks to GeocachingSA for hiding caches in interesting locations. 36578

Quick find on a nice warm day. Still all good while visiting a friend nearby at a farm so close by had morning tea with them TFTC
Melbourne to Adelaide Road Trip
Day Two: Horsham to Keith via Frances
Weather: cool morning, warm afternoon, clear skies.
Last cache of the day, I’m passing this way because of the letterbox, and I doubt that I’ll be travelling along this road again soon, although you never know.
A quick find here despite the myriad of possible hiding spots; the size of the actual cache helps.
Thanks for this hide GeoVenture2020/GeocachingSA.

Time to explore some roads less travelled today and found this cache as we headed over to Bordertown and Mundulla .
This place was a bit snakey looking , so did lots of stomping as we approached GZ .

Thanks again GeoVenture2020.

We approached this location with some caution in case there were some unfriendly residents. After making a lot of noise we began searching and soon found the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks GeoVenture2020 for the cache.
A quick stop here today the cache was easily found and is all good
Today I made my way from Adelaide to Naracoorte, with only half the day I made a plan to do some of the shorter detours off the main highways to collect the odd cache here and there. With it being so hot I arrived earlier than expected in town and came away with 20 finds for the day.
Thanks for the cache

We are not sure if this one is suffering cache creep as the hint says 'rocks' and there was no rocks where we found the cache. SL TFTC
Got stuck on the road then got stuck finding the cache in the grass - giving this a miss until the weather cools off and the grass hiders go away!
Pfft!!!
A micro in a tree in the country in summer in grass ...yeah this was never ever going to end well. Out with a newbie and had to come long way around cos a tree was across the road up the other end and couldn't get through. Ghosty7 has a phobia off long grass. Yeah, this was going to convince the new enthusiast how good the game is....!!!! Back when just haven't found a snake five minutes ago! Nice tree team!

I started 2020 with some improbable caching goals that only lasted until mid February.
Then came Covid-19 and caching began to take a back seat.
But with restrictions easing and socially responsible caching again possible it is time to start filling the calendars again.
Didn't need to cache today but was in Naracoorte to get the car serviced and catch up with the rellies. Heading home I decided to take a few detours and grab a few caches anyway.
I drove the full length of Guy Road to get two caches today. Road? Track - maybe.[^] Potholed bog - certainly. Swimming pool - if it rains some more - probably. In any case it was an adventure and got me to GZ. Once here I made a quick find.
***Thanks GeoVenture2020 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

There are certainly days when I feel like lying down in the job. This tree has definitely decided to do it all day everyday day. Good choice. TFTC
We all get tired sometimes. May this one RIP.

This weekend, I visited Bordertown for the community celebration event. During the morning, it was a trip to Ngarkat Conservation Park, before joining everyone at the event while it bucketed it down with rain. The afternoon was spent visiting Wolseley and Mundulla. The following day, it was a trip north up the SA border to Pinnaroo, and an exploration of the vicinity via Mootatunga, Karte, Billiatt, and Lameroo. A return home via the highway allowed stops in Geranium, Jabuk, Peake, Sherlock, and Moorlands, arriving home well after dark.
Today, I joined Brad&Janet, Freddo, and Laighside Legends, to visit Ngarkat for a few geocaches that had recently been placed. That took more time than anticipated, and it was then a expedited trip to Bordertown to celebrate geocaching at the celebration event. It was quite the turnout, and once the weather became clear in the afternoon, I joined a few others to check out Wolseley, and then finished the day exploring Mundulla and the vicinity by myself. Some tracks were quite muddy and slippery, with the rain returning in the late afternoon.
This road sure was slippery! It was dark by the time I pulled over here, and the cache took a few minutes to find. I even spotted Lockchick's rock before finding the cache. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Cool tree. Thanks GeoVenture2020 committee for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Travelled to Mundulla for the weekend to kill 3 birds with one stone. Surprise a very dear friend and attend her Celebration event, have some R&R away in the van AND find some caches! We found the lying down tree, and very impressive it was too! Could almost crawl inside to stay out of the rain! Oh and while in there, we found the cache!TFTC
A lil bit damp on this road this arvo.
Found easily in the definitely lying down tree.

First to find on the 5th of March 2020 at about 1430 hours.
We eyed the likely tree some distance off, how long has this tree been laying down on the job? It was not doing its intended job as either wind break or shade for stock, and it looked like it had been retired for many, many years!! Its so hard to find good tree help these days.
We were lucky in finding the cache as there were multiple spots in this weathered old gum, good to see a high quality Australian made container also, well done team.
Look up, the stars are beautiful
We can connect the dots
I made a heart for you
You said thank you, then I kissed you
Look up, the stars are beautiful
We can connect the dots
I made a heart for you
You said thank you, then I kissed you
We're laying in the grass
I'm getting bug bites
You say let's go inside
I say no, not inside
These bug bites
Are here today
But they'll be better the next day
Or even the next day
So let's lay under this tree
No one but you and me
Underneath the stars
With no lights or flashing cars

Looks like the lazy tree was a beautiful gum at some time back in history, maybe it became a victim of the disease that hit a lot of vegetation.
Mundulla Yellows (MY) is a fatal disease that affects eucalypts and other native plants. It was first observed in the vicinity of Mundulla, South Australia in the 1970's and has now been identified in all States, including Tasmania. It is characterised by progressive yellowing and dieback of foliage. It is not clear whether Mundulla Yellows is caused by living agent(s), or environmental factor(s), or a combination of both. This disease has several unusual attributes. The combination of slow, progressive expression, yellowing leaves interspersed with healthy limbs, the presence of healthy trees and shrubs amongst dead and dying trees, and the lack of recovery of affected plants.
Interesting bit of disease information we googled we thought. Still learning new stuff.
Thanks GeoVenture2020 for the cache and the drive through the region after having to go as far as Naracoorte today.
