Located with Ricardinho On our way down to the Geo Mega in Dunedin & RNZ is targeting select caches on the way. First stage of our roadtrip today is Boomtown (Blenheim) to ChCh.RNZ wanted to do a bit of a Pegasus recky on our way into ChCh, so this was the first of a few caches we found. TFTC
Our first in Pegasus, and a nice simple find. Thanks for the information on the cache page, it was good to read. TFTC also BaldEd.Day 1 of our road trip south to the Mega. Blenheim to Christchurch. We got away early with the plan of getting to Amberley reasonably quickly, then dipping into some small coastal communities like Amberley Beach and Leithfield Beach, and then Pegasus to find some caches and call quits when the time was right to get into Chch around 4.30pm. All up 16 caches found, 1 DNF, 1 ripped jacket (at the DNF), 1 book from a book swap, and 2 communities I had never visited before were visited. Thanks all COs.
Our last caching day in NZ and we are out for a drive on a warm sunny day hoping to sign off a few. I have played many rounds of golf on this beautiful course so am quite familiar with the area. I think we have signed a previous cache at this site. TFTC.
Spent a few hours caching in Ravenswood and Pegasus on a rather cool summers day. This was a quick find. Interesting information on the board. #6965. TFTC.
Found with Gummi_Venus. Thanks for the cool history lesson. In grad school I wrote my thesis about Hawaiian taro so Im always eager to learn more about Pacific Island tubers!
Found with ObnoxiousSpaceCat, decided to head into Pegasus on our way back to Christchurch from Amberley/Leithfield as neither of us had been before. Thanks for the interesting bit of history, cache safe and dry.
Had time for a bit of a look around this area on the way north from Christchurch this morning. A good quick find here. Signed log, TFTC.
Lovely day and was in the area with friends and family so I quickly did this one. TFTC
In Christchurch with AlpiSteve for Matariki Weekend and we stopped here on our way to Pegasus to pick up R. Nice quick find here TFTC
Out on a bike ride, cache hunting, done a 50km loop on a nice hot day. Thanks For the cache Bitsprayer.
Overall very easy, except for the fact that I was confused a bit by the location, but that's a me problem. TFTC.
Think I may have once found the original but it no longer shows on my App, so signed again, just in case. Busy road today. All good here. Tftc
Out to Pegasus to clean up the Caches on offer, and walk up some K's. Nice discreet hide in s fairly obvious place... Cheers!
Both StreetWalkerNZ and I needed 4 finds today, so we decided to kill 2 birds with one stone (so to speak) and take Oma out for a belated Mothers Day lunch in Pegasus, and find a few caches as well .
We probably should have left this for the way out, as the road was pretty busy and we had to time our sprint across the road. I remember the Mk I version of the cache, so good to see it resurrected. TFTC.

A quick find for our last one of the day on a tour around Woodend and Pegasus, with mixed success (12 finds, 4 dnfs). We have not completely cached out the area yet; so we will be back. Thanks BaldEd!
On our way home from a camping trip and stopped to find a nearby cache we had a frown on. Made that right and then stopped here to get this cache. Kumera are Mrs C's favourite, newver knew they grew down this far. Saw many up Dargaville way. Thanks for this cache BaldEd.
Quick and easy grab. Need some style to avoid the prying eyes of the many muggles that are driving past! Tftc
We stopped by to pick up the PWGT so just had to stop at these Kumera Gardens to snag and tag this one. Cheers. Thankfully not much traffic today as Zaras bum sticks out a bit and the grass verge is very soft..
The Seagnoid is down for some cache maintenance but lots of xtra time to wander. I need some caches for my technology Souvineer, with Christchurch our agreed destination for a couple of days. Arrived late Friday night with Toby and Zara. Sunday starts out drizzly and cool but we managed to stay dry while exploring.

It's raining. It's wet. But the show must go on. After spending yesterday finding lab caches, accidentally discovering a geotour cache and completely refocusing the weekend, Taybeedragon and I arrived here for yet another TMGT.
On our way back to Picton at last - this weekend is actually a cache maintenance trip for me to Blenheim. This Christchurch thing is just a side excursion. So this is the last geotour cache.
A nice easy find.
The painting on the signboard is rather famous. Whenever some article talks about kumera planting it always seems to be this picture that is used. And I am a little upset about the comments about how neat and orderly the plantings were - everyone does that! Or were these Maori thought to be too primitive to draw a straight line? Sometime I get really annoyed about colonial attutudes to the Normal People.

Down from Auckland for another blitz upon the PWGT caches and other caches that appeal to us. On this trip there is FMZ, rustynz, Rebel98 and myself in Christchurch for 3 days of fun and another adventure.
As we headed away from the Maori Pa we decided to pull in here since we were driving right by it. It was rusty who got out and signed us in.

With a group of Westies out and about, could not resist finding this one. Interesting story about the kumera, thanks for the hide BaldEd
Quick find on our way put of Pegasus, with rebel, rusty, gorby and boneybruce. TFTC
Last cache for the day. Sure I did the one that was here previously. Good to see the replaced info board learning that the local dialect spells kumara differently. Here was me thinking it was a spelling mistake! Thanks for the hide.

On a Geotour trip for the week.
The nearby cache of interest found. Now for a quick park and grab on my way out.

After a scone and coffee for lunch we were off on a caching mission. A few new ones around the area since our last visit. Tftc
Heading north for the weekend to get the remaining geotour caches (for both tours) to complete the South Island. Had to stop here as it is one of the last 4 dates hidden I need to finish that calendar. Easily found. Tftc
#9295. Its Good Friday. The start of an Easter road trip to the South Island to pick up a swag of geotour caches in Canterbury, West Coast and Otago over the extended Easter break. Doing this trip with caching buddy Infoferret as we decided to share the cost of a rental car and fuel plus share the driving with the long distances planned for this trip. We hired a hybrid car and it was a good choice as it was economical but easily made it through all the long distances with no concerns over fuel tank capacity. Today we are heading to Hokitika via Hanmer Springs, Lewis Pass, Reefton and Greymouth (just 25 litres of fuel used for this day).
Picking up a few in the outskirts of Christchurch before getting onto the highway. Another nice quick find here. Interesting history on the cache page. I had no idea that kumara could be grown this far south. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks BaldEd for the cache.

2 April 2021 09:53. A much appreciated quick find on an epic 6 day trip around the South Island. TFTC

Leaving the area, after nabbing the PWGT cache, decided to make a super quick spot and grab this cache. Jumped out, grabbed cache, wrote on log then on our way again to another PWGT cache. TFTC

Thanks for the geocache. This log is generic in the field but plan on writing up full log when caching trip is over and I am in front of a computer.

I found this one on my way back from a a PWGT cache and just had to sign it off. My big bro wouldn't forgive if I had.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Have tried growing kumera for 1st time this year. Not sure how successfully yet, but might adjust method next year! Thanks for re-creating this cache
Plenty of golfers out today. Much warmer here than Hamner Springs. An interesting information board. Thanks for bringing us here BaldEd

Came out to Pegasus for an FTF. Got it, barely.
And on the way back, now in more relaxed experience stopped for another one around here.
Kumera - I had not seen this variant of spelling for kumara before. So, something new every day.
Also, thanks for the history lesson of this essential vegetable!
Cache was an instant find.
TFTC!

Not often in this area, but I was today as I was dropping a sick colleague home. Obviously had to find a cache or two. No problems locating this cache today. Thankfully I managed to hold on to the cache as it was pretty windy here.
I was in Pegasus for a friend's house warming tonight and found this one on the way home, Tftc!
On a drive to Christchurch today. I stopped for a few caches along the way. I parked across the road and wandered over to GZ. All good here. Cache found after a short search. TFTC, Biggles.
Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
If recent days have been anything to go by, then today's activity is going to seem crazy. We have such a big game to play, spread out over a very large area - An early morning start in the north, with a late finish on the trails to the south... Let's go! We found the original installment of this hide way back when we came to Christchurch Mega. A brief stop today for a revisit... Everything was as we remembered. Thanks BaldEd and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with ABCDF4 we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

Out this way again with purdiepurdie for another Biota Node clean up and some caching "on the way".
Thansk for this cache, BaldEd - we found the previous one 2+ years ago, on another Biota Node CITO day!

Needed to get some extra caches today on the calendar to bring the total up to 11 for the date, and there were exactly 4 I had unfound in pegasus - perfect!
So took llittle miss 3 for a walk, to see if we could find them all.
3 year olds are such great searchers! Haha.
Most were found pretty easily bar one at the beach where we did need a PAF, and in the end it was where I had been looking, just deeper than I'd expected.

There are so many whakataukī /sayings about kūmara. I like this one: māra kūmara a Ngātoro-i-rangi/ the kūmara plantations of Ngātoro-i-rangi. It's a metaphor for a mackerel sky. Tftc which Karma Reprint had to hand while I was still reading the sign.
Quick easy find on our way past to the beach. It felt a bit like double dipping here but this is a really interesting location that deserves a cache. Thanks for the effort that goes into placing and maintaining a cache.
A nice quick find thanks. A very informative board!
A lovely afternoon drive to Oxford for a pie with Ms_KR. Pity they ran out of pies!!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.
