A good hide in plain sight.Out grabbing a few caches while cycling along the cycleway.TFTC Find#199
one more cache in us - Miss 6 really liked this one, she was a good height to get to it. We had a wee rest on the seats here and had a drink of water and a birthday biscuit to fuel our walk back to the car.TFTC
No issues here . Its nice to be out and about with someone who seems to understand you.TFTC
Made plans to go out caching with TheWonderStuff around both our busy weekends. We decided to target the caches along the Northwestern cycleway on our bikes/scooter. The weather turned out to be very nice and warm, so it ended up being quite busy along the cycleway. This really was hiding in plain sight if you just knew where to look.
Got the bike out today to avenge some DNFs along here, and grab the new ones that have popped up! We parked in Waterview, and planned to go till Lincoln road, or till the rain started. We only made it to rosebank road before the rain came in! TFTC!
Dropped mr 16 at the nearby pump track and headed for a wonder in the maybe rain! No fear of muggles today! TFTC. Quick find here.
All good here now, replaced with another cache. Came by here on my e-bike. How on earth could this cache ever go missing... beats me.
Checked the obvious spot... Thought outside the box... But no cache to be found today
After celebrating our granddaughter's 3rd birthday, I went for an afternoon walk by the motorway to find a few caches out here. The wind was blowing hard and at one point I got caught in a sudden but thankfully brief rain shower. Nearly 3 years since my previous DNF, I thought I might be more successful today given the recent maintenance but I just couldn't find it.
#13,962. Todays mission was to walk from Waterview to Te Atatu bridge and back, 10km in the hot summer sun. Yep madness is in the genes. Not as mad however as the men's rugby league team walking the same stretch carrying large wooden poles, full 20 litre water containers, rock filled ammo cans, large tractor tyres and heavy metal cages. They looked hot and buggered each time I passed them. It was very dry and thirsty out here today. I ran into Gorby up the other end on his electric bike. Very helpful to get some hints and help finding several I had missed on the way heading NW.The seats here were a welcome opportunity to rest the legs and take in the scenery. The cache itself was a quick find in the first place checked. Signed the logsheet and replaced the cache as found. Thanks Gorby for hiding the cache here. Really enjoyed the variety of caches on offer today and good to catch-up with you on the return walk.
I decided to do get on my e-bike and do routine maintenance on most of my motor way caches, I wish I chose a day that wasn't so unbearably hot! Got a fair bit sunburned and was quite glad to get home, put on the air con, consume a cold wine and a few sandwiches. I replaced most of the caches with new paper (only where necessary).
#11080:8:52am. Something attractive... Yes, a bottle top can be very attractive. Maybe I'll wait until later to have a cold tinnie. TFTC.One hour into my walk, and I've found eleven caches so far covering 2.8km. Good going so far.
I don't restart work again until the 8th of Jan. With free accommodation I decided a geocaching holiday in Auckland was a good way to spend this week off. Most of the week I geocached with Yvettetb but the beginning and end I was on my own. Tuesdays focus area was around the Orakei Basin area and Saint John's. Wednesday we ended up caching in the Waitakeries and finished up in Glen Eden, New Lynn and Waterview. Thursday we geocached around Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay and Titirangi. Yesterday we decided to finish off a few out here before Yvettetb had to leave. I then cached around the Panmure Basin and the new subdivision Stonefields. Today I was alone and walked the cycle trail between Waterview and Te Atatu. It was a bit of a damp morning at times. Another reason to stop. Had a quick look at the info board but with the log signed there were more caches calling me to carry on. Thanks for the lovely line of caches along this trail
Day 2: The Northwestern TrailOur second day in Auckland was shaping up to be another wet and sordid one, but I was hardly going to let the early summer weather rain on my parade. So, after dropping my sister off at United, I was dropped off at Te Atat South to begin my adventure for today. Despite being a power trail, there was such a great variety of caches, that it really didnt feel like one at all. Despite passing showers, I thoroughly enjoyed the effort put into the construction and camouflaged. Thanks for everything - this is why one of the reasons why I keep returning to NZ for geocaching!(End of cut and paste bit)Specific log for this cache:Obvious place for the cache meant that it was at the first place I looked. I havent seen a cache like this in a long time - I believe the first and the last time I saw this was in Germany. Novel sort of micro, but I can imagine this being a pain to find in some places. Thanks!
I started today with a walk along the section of the cycleway. I started at the Waterview Reserve and went as far as Rosebank Road. Then retraced my steps. Everything went to plan, the round trip took me just on two hours to walk the 6.90 km for 17 finds. A good variety of hides. All in all a top notch caching experience.
Cheers and TFTC

Unlike the cache, I was not stuck on this one. Thanks for the placement! It was interesting to see how to cycle path used to flood.

Decided to Ebike the NW Motorway this morning to re-smilie up the pathway and this was No 17 of 21 today. Clever hide Gorby. TFTC
I am out and about for an extended walk today. I started at Waterview Reserve and followed the cycle way out west, as far as my feet would carry me (Lincoln as it turns out). Of course I stopped for any caches along the way. Theee was a family resting near ground zero as I arrived. They were not interested in me, nor my intense interest with the info sign. Learned some ecological info and found a cache, stealthily, to boot. Cheers for the cache placement!
M24: Had to wait for a few cyclists to pass, then retrieved the cache, which was nice and easy, log all good and signed here. TFTC.
As we grabbed this I got a case of déjà vu today while heading home from the garage project for some beer tasting with Merlot and Mr Pazza. Hope you have Happy New Year Gorby after such tough year.
After a solo caching expedition this morning we still wanted another couple of finds for today's date. We had been keeping these last two trads on the cycleway for just such an occasion - ones we could do in the dark after working late. And it was pretty late in the evening when we drove along Rosebank Road to park up for the walk. We had a nice easy find at the first, and walked on to this one, hoping for the same. And we were not disappointed. These structures are new since we were last here. Very glad to sign the log and make our way back to the car - it's been a long day. Got back to find the road all but closed off, ready for night roadworks. We could get out, but cars could not get in. Glad we had not set out any later tonight. TFTC
The 2Izs set off to do a night e-scooter ride and try and hit as many as we could on the north western cycle path.
Almost befuddled us.
Almost befuddled us.
Today I was on a mission to sign off the "one thousand points of light challenge " cache, which we now qualified for.
So, I thought why not start my journey from where we were parked at the NZMCA park in Henderson, and go via a long walk/cycleway full of caches, to meet mr rattll at the carpark opposite MOTAT.
If it had been a weekday, I would have taken the bike, but as its a Saturday, I figured there would be masses of muggles on this walkway, so opted to walk as it would be less obvious stopping all of the time. I wasn't wrong about the muggles. The place was swarming with them.
Very attractive indeed! So much so, I lingered here to admire the attractiveness for a while after signing the log.
However, I thought if I sat too long I'd never get going again, so back to it!
Thanks for putting this here

Replaced with a new cache and paper, very 'attractive' if I say so myself, and myself never disagrees with I or Me.
Nothing found today, went with the previous finder's comment but found nothing.

This one was definitely in plain sight...... I think it had come free from its spot and was down the bottom, luckily I spotted it!
Signed log and put back as per hint but partly tucked under a "blanket"...

What a lovely morning for a bike ride. Had to be careful in the bike track as there were so many other bikers whizzing by. Lots of varied caches and the GOS was spot on. TFTC
A rest to think was really needed for this. Absolutely overthinking the clues today!

I think we took the hint too literally so didn't find it in the first place we looked but it didn't take too long to find the cache. Great to find another one to break up the walk. TFTC
Needed a change from my 1-cache-a-day, so came out here and ended up with 11 cache finds along the NW cycleway
#7: Found straight away, good hint and a convenient sign to read while waiting for cyclists to pass by. Nothing suspicious going on here, I'm just learning about the mangroves The log was wet, but I sort of managed to sign it. TFTC

Vincent’s keen caching abilities secured us the epic vicroy within seconds. Tftc with Pedro and Vincent
Third time lucky for me here, went too low to start with then back up top and checked nearest to the hint, yup there it is. Cheers gorby.
We got our grocery shopping done this morning and a nice lunch ensued before settling down for the afternoon on this squally and stormy afternoon (lucky not to be in some NZ areas with terrible flooding and state of emergency declared). My wanderlust got the best of me and I headed out to grab 4 caches which achieved a few goals' get my gorby finds closer to 100 (94 now), avenge a couple of motorway walkway DNFs and get my supernannny finds closer to 100 too (95 now). All good and didn't get too wet whilst out between 1 and 2.30.

Seeing that it was a nice day I decided to get the bike out and go for a spin down the Northwestern cycleway trying to locate a few caches.
It was right where the hint said.
Cheers for the cache.

It was behind the 2 steel feet. I wanted a rest on the benches but GeohoundandI wanted to get a move on.
In Auckland for the day as it was Long weekend
Really cool hide again Nice easy find

Another bike ride and more effort to find some caches today. No troubles here, quick find. SL. TFTC.
Out for a ride with the geo-kids - surprisingly they were no opposed to caching today which makes a change - we had a great time!!
The beer cans led the way to a quick find here.
Thanks for the cache.

Found whilst out on a bike ride with keylev and laval.
Thanks for putting a cache here because it gave me a chance to sit down for a bit.

Indeed it was missing, have replaced it with a small black tube and water proof paper, under some small rocks between the 2 steel feet as such. All good here, cache checked and good to go again.
It was a nice morning to get out and find a few caches today. Weather was perfect for a walk along the cycle way to find a few caches that have popped up since the last time I was out this way. Adding my DNF to the list. It might be there but I couldn't find it.
Alas this was another DNF for me here, despite pointers from previous finders and a clear hint.
Truth be told, I resorted to PaF here, not because I couldn't find the cache, but the fact it was so busy along here this afternoon. Nice hide, cheers
Another find for us along the cycleway today. A nice place to stop and take a rest and enjoy the good weather too. Luckily had it all to ourselves.
Followed the hint and found the cache hidden well. Replaced as found, thanks CO for the cache.
We had a nice walk from Waterview along this very popular and increasingly familiar cycle way.
We were pleased that GZ was a perfect place for a rest as there were a few muggles around and it helped to hide our true intentions and didn’t make us look like we were loitering,
It took a while to locate the cache due to us not looking hard enough but then suddenly it was there exactly where it was supposed to be.
A car stopped on the motorway right beside GZ just after we found the cache and we wondered if it was some over enthusiastic geocachers trying to take a shortcut but it turned out they just had car trouble.
TFTC.

Nice bike ride along here today, not too hot or too cold. Picking up a few caches along the way. Had almost given up here but another look and what do you know! Love that aha moment, great work, tftc
one I had taken a photo for a couple of muggles, I was able to retrieve the cache.
Out on a bike ride today with AliGle and KirsTim riding from Avondale to Westgate, firstly through Oakley Creek Reserve, then along the cycle way up the Northwestern Motorway, picking up many caches along the way. All logs signed as V.A.K. Took us a little bit longer to find the well hidden cache here. TFTC!
Great day for a bike ride with Vistra & AliGle, with our main aim to complete the Adventure Lab from Mangere to Westgate. With cars parked at both end wen rode from Avondale through the Oakley Creek track and up the North Western cycle way. All logs signed as VAK to save space. Thanks for the cache. Made this really hard for ourselves and took a while to find this
This one was trickier to find as so many possible places here. Persevered and was successful in the end. With Vistra and Kirstim.
Perfect spot for a snack and a sit down. Unfortunately not for a cache. Nothing that we could find here.
Not having a good run of cache fi ds this morning. Searched for about 10 min then moved on. I will come back another day.
Lovely geocaching day on North West Route Cycle Way. Decided to take my bike for a spin today as latest most wanted rain in Auckland Region for sure left hike trails very wet. Little bit windy on the route with fresh westerly breeze. I cycled 29km in total! Started in Waterview and finished near Royal Road School. Then back. Also did a few detours for some nice handy caches in the area. At the end of my journey I`ve got wet because rain arrived but the good things was I was not soakin wet ... Many thanks for all placements in the area. Geocaching on the bike is one of my best exercise! Also Memory Lane celebration started today so it was great to collect some handy caches.
P.S. I had to wait till 0:00 UTC to log my hides to qualify for Memory Lane ....
Handy stopover. And easy find with the hint. T4TC

I hiked all the way to GZ from Rosebank. The cache was hidden so it didn't match the cache name, hut I left it in a more appropriate spot. TFTC.
A great day to find some recently placed caches along the NW Mway. I remember finding another cache here not long ago. Thanks for hiding Gorby.
Another nice day to go for a walk along the cycle way so met Mrs Jag at lunchtime and walked along to this cache. Had to wait out some cyclists so used the time to suss out the hide
Met up with Merlot58 for a lunchtime stroll along the cycleway to collect this cache. Not too many cyclists on the cycleway today so we almost had the trail to ourselves. Murphy's law as we get to gz, a couple of cyclists were approaching us. We chatted and admired the view and discussed possibilities of where this cache could be. Once we had the all clear, we zoomed in for a quick find here.
