We stayed over night at the Mutarnee campground. In the morning we proceeded north towards todays goal Mission Beach. We stopped here at the rest areas to go for the cache. But we had to wait until some muggles left. We used the time to eat some delicious mango ice cream. Then I climbed up, searched in every angle of the construction and found 'nothing'.Maybe you can check if it's still thereThanks a lot for this traditional cache.Murkel,on tour with Muckel1 1. I was hoping I might be able to get away without actually climbing this as I was here with a well know monkey. Unfortunately she was happy to have me climb this today. So up I went. Wasn't too hard in the end, and I was glad to have done it. Heart was racing a little once back to ground level.

I’m on day three of a road trip from Brisbane to Cape York with Swellerfungus and Jezndez ……. Stopping along the way to stretch our legs and find some caches.

This one got the heart pumping…and that was only watching the climb! Swellerfungus is well known for his injuries while caching so I was waiting for a big skin tear on his shins, however he managed to climb up & down unscathed.

Thanks for the hide.

Caching in the area we pick up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.

Yep up there, no muggles about so a quick scamper up, sign the log sheet and back down, good views we had from here, Enjoyed exploring the area, cache and contents were in good condition.

Many thanks for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

Decided we were not brave enough to attempt to find this especially as we’re in flip flops!

On my way to cairns for a week. Unhappy to miss the Townsville FTFs so gonna see if any pop up here in cairns. Long drive so hope to grab some sidetracked on the way there as well.
This was a really fun climb and great to break up the long drive. First climb in my new caching 2000 shoes and they worked great making the climb really easy.
Did t spot at first but after a quick look around from the top was able to spot the bright container.

What a climb for my little short legs! Cache retrieved, log ok, signed and replaced as found. TFTC

We had a great day exploring the area and had visited Jorouma Falls and Wallaman Falls.
It was then time to head to Ingham, to shop for a few more supplies that we needed before heading back to Crystal Creek for our campsite.
On the way home, it was still light, and Mrs Domsky had noted this hide earlier.
Now, travelling south again, we decided to stop here on our way back to camp and pulled in to the rest stop, where we had the place to ourselves.
Mrs Domsky made the climb, signed the log, and as she was returning to ground, another vehicle pulled in.
The driver was very curious when we told him that Mrs Domsky was climbing for the view.
He assured us that there were better ways to see a good view. Nonetheless there was an element of humour in our conversation and we were heading back to the car to go and cook some dinner.
Thanks BenM70. We were not sure that this climb would be suitable, but in fact it was a lot of fun.

Had a little trouble locating this one, but got there in the end. There was a few muggles around but they were trying hard to prevent us from seeing them. Thanks for the little adventure.

Our final find for the day! After a day of parkrun and a long hike through a trail which barely existed this one seemed like a walk in the park. Well for me anyway, I got to spectate as Ian made the climb. He was up and down so quickly I hardly had time to extract the prickles from my shoes which I gained from the hike!

Thanks

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 15. Townsville and then on to Cairns section Day 1. Leaving Townsville for a two day drive to Cairns, the plan was to do the LABs in Cardwell and then head inland from Innisfail for the Ravenshoe LABs, but from Cardwell it did not stop raining, so I managed those LABs, but got soaked. I stopped early and sheltered for the night leaving Ravenshoe till tomorrow.

I stopped a few times as I headed north, taking on various amounts of rain and wet roadsides. There was a steady parade of travelers stopping here, but eventually there was a gap and I could dash up for a quick find after a long wait.

Thanks for the cache BenM70

I made it to Townsville. 18 days on my bicycle cycling over 1850km from Toowoomba.
After catching up with friends and finding a few caches I am now heading North to Cairns.
I nice short climb to the cache and a quick find.
Now to continue North on the bike.
Thanks for the adventures and cache.

Day 11 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

Today is our last day in Townsville. We cleaned up as many of the caches we wanted to do before leaving tomorrow. This included heading a bit further North to grab a couple more counties. A lot of driving but a satisfying day. We signed some challenges, did a bit of fishing, and collected a number of adventure labs along the way.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to all the CO’s.

Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.

Day 11 of our Townsville Trek, and we managed quite a few caches around Townsville today as well as a trip north to grab a few additional Counties. Despite the large number of roadworks going on we made good time. This cache didn't present too many problems, sending one of the Geokids up even though we had the ladder if required, and we soon had the cache in hand. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Thanks BenM70 !! That was a bit of fun !

17-Apr-22
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 11119.

Luckily it was well after midnight when Captain Terror and I pulled up at this one. We couldn’t spot the container even with a bright headlamp so up I went! It turns out I was spot on but had moved around as I couldn’t see it straight away but eventually I signed the log and then back on the road to head home.

Thanks BenM70 for the cache.

Day eight of the big Brisbane to Townsville trip for me. After seven days on the road getting up here and then driving about via many exciting geocaches, it is the day of the [Mega Event](https://coord.info/GC9BVWD)! This morning my travelling party left to drive home, and I have 24 hours on my own. Little did I know how massive the day would turn out to be.

It had an early start, a lot of hanging about the Mega HQ, a drive around looking for geocaches with Big Matt, and a night event. It had been a huge day! But soon after that event, at around 21:30 Matt mooted a plan to me. He had noticed neither of us had been to Cardwell to find a geocache in this specific LGA. And it's *only* 1.5 hours drive. And we could seemingly go tonight.

Well, it was bloody hard to disagree. So perhaps this plan was foolish. Perhaps it was folly. But it was happening. We bid farewell to the party-goers at the Mega and jumped in the car for a night time roadtrip. There is no way I would have done this trip alone. I doubt he would have either, as we were both reasonably tired. But we chatted a bunch and enjoyed cruising through North Queensland on yet another silly adventure.

This geocache was on our return trek back south. It was well after midnight and sitting in the passenger seat, I was picking out geocaches that we could pause at and refresh a little. This seemed somewhere between optimistic and dumb at night, but figured it'd add to the adventure either way. Did I also mention it had been raining?

Upon arrival, of course we had the place to ourselves. Any vehicles were parked up, maybe housing sleeping occupants. We quickly worked out what the mission was before us. Standing around at the bottom, even with a good torch, we couldn't see a anything geocachey. We decided to start up.

Matt surprised me, getting up faster and more confidently than me, including some scooting around a few options once at the top. He was always going to beat me and I was again about halfway down when he made the find. Team effort! In the break from rain, the logbook was signed at 00:50. Oh gee and it's still over an hour home - and this will be our last geocache for this massive day! Thanks for the added adventure, BenM70 Smile

When we rolled in there was one empty car here. We guessed what the driver was doing Red Face so went to investigate the water tank. He'd soon finished his business and drive off so we were free to grab the cache. A torch and a pair of gloves was all the TOTT we needed to make the find.
ThanksBenM70

A ten day mega trip was arranged with Stainless steel rat and Budgietas. We flew into Cairns and out of Mackay, with the majority of the time in and around Townsville. We found a huge variety of caches and although our find count was a little lower than we would have liked, some of the high D/T caches more than made up for that. I really appreciate the effort of the local COs and all the people involved in hosting the mega and associated activities. I enjoyed catching up with many of our caching buddies, and make some new ones too!
Thanks for a great mega trip!

11-Apr-22
We found this cache while driving south from Cairns to Townsville.
Rat was up the structure like it was a drain pipe

Thank you for the cache

---------------------------------------------------------------

This cache was found as part of a trip with GoosenEgg and Stainless Steel Rat to Far North Queensland for the Townsville Mega. The trip started in Cairns and ended in Mackay, and allowed us to find some ripper caches inbetween.
We managed to complete some of the Breaking Bad cache series until we driven back to the car due to the heat, and the Saint and most of the book series. There were some good variety in both these series which kept them interesting.
One of the highlights (although a low light when removing the mud) was the walk on the salt flats outside Townsville to get the challenge caches
Another highlight was Magnetic island, where other than some great views, we managed to spot two koala's in the wild.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache that was part of our trip

While we waited for the coast to be clear i dug out my gloves and torch, after a quick stretch the cache was soon in hand and I added our names to the logbook.

This was my first Mega trip in a while now, I had planned to go to the last one in Wangaratta but concerns about COVID made me pull out at the last minute. For this one it was a trip with BudgieTas and GooseandEgg landing in Cairns on the Sunday where we collected a few caches in the dark before driving down to Townsville on the Monday collecting a select few caches along our very indirect route.
While in the Townsville we made the best of our time collecting a few series of caches and searching for some of the older caches on offer, some with lots of favourite points or something we thought maybe a bit different, along with all that we got to go to all the Mega events and meet up with cachers old and new, spending Thursday with Greg going round Magnetic Island and a bit of time with the Davinells who went out of their way to welcome the Tasmanians to Queensland.
All to soon it came to an end and we drove down to Mackay on the Monday again collecting caches along the way before flying home on the Tuesday Morning.
Thanks for the warm (sometimes too hot) welcome Queensland until next time!

Thanks for the cache.

**This Cache:**

I just had to stop at this cache! Saw the word "Climb" in the name and it peaked my interest. Climbing something other than a tree is always very exciting too!

A great spot for a rest stop as the bathrooms came in handy too, before I scaled up the watertank for a quick find! Lots of fun!

Thanks BenM70

**Today:**

Day 6 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event! Big Grin

After a night spent in Townsville, it was time to head further north before the mega started with **taytayy1**!

We spent the whole day driving up to Cairns, stopping at touristy places along the way and seeing a part of Australia we had not visited before! Managed to sneak in just 5 caches whilst sightseeing! We swam in a spa pool, saw a Cassowary on a beach, visited a lookout or two and did a couple small walks! A beautiful part of the coast to explore!

We were on our way back from Cairns when greencordial hinted to stop here. After a quick look up spotted the little fella but couldn’t jump up as a few kid were running around so I saved a beetle that was upside down and we waited. Finally the coast cleared up I went testing out my brand spanka new all-terrain pluggers. Not bad for its first test run and the log was signed. Sadly greencordial decided not to climb this one (probs cause she didn’t have new pluggers?)
Thanks for the cache!

After a pen malfunction and some pretty nifty team work we finally got to log this one off. Woot woot. TFTC

31-Dec-20
With overseas travel currently out of the question and state border closures still a lurking as possibilities, my family and some close friends decided that travelling to North Queensland was our best option for a Christmas/New Year escape.

On the last day of the 2020 year we were heading out of Townsville, with our next destination Cardwell. This location proved an opportune place for the family to stop for a toilet break. While they attended to their ablutions I went looking for the cache. One of my travelling companions managed to spot the cache from the ground before I started the climb which saved me spending time searching while aloft. Although I did get some glaces from some muggles also stopped in the car park I'm sure its a location that won't be muggled anytime soon. TFTC

27-Dec-20
Our Townsville Christmas stay with the in laws has finished. This morning we packed the hire car and headed north to Cairns.

"It is very important that we take regular stops so the driver can refresh", he said.
"What are you doing up the top of that water tank tower?", they all said.

Thankfully the rain held off and the muggles at the other end of the car park paid no attention to this driver "stretching legs". Nice bold placement. Thanks Benm70

Climbed the water tank, but alas there was too many Muggles to have a proper look. Hopefully on the way back I can try again. Great idea for hide.

Day 17 of our road trip from the Gold Coast with hatzofff, grannysmith1947 and RoddyC & after visiting Crystal Creek we ventured a little further up to look for this one.

Glad we were all together and apart from it being muggle central, it would off looked strange a mature woman climbing up the inside of a water tank.
Well the clue said look up first, that we did and I spied this huge cockroach at the top, I was 100% positive that it was a fake cache and when I got up and just about to grab it .. it moved!
Of course everyone below were in fits of laughter at my expense but when I turned sideways I spotted the well blended-in container, signed log and couldn't wait to get back down.

Heading home from a trip up to Murray falls and stopped by to grab this cache.
Had attempted to grab this one before, however always muggles everywhere. For once we were the only people.

Thanks for a more trickier hide and appreciate the effort SL TNLN TFTC

Picking up the few new roadside caches that has popped up since we left TSV.
This looked 2D from below and I was unsure if it was the cache.

If we'd known of this great shady rest area we would have had lunch here instead of back up the road at the dead centre of somewhere. So this was just a cache stop. It was easily spotted but only because we were looking for it. Muggles wouldn't give it a second glance. TFTC BenM70.

This was one of a number that we had solved before returning to town after being cleared during these times which meant plenty of extra time for things like caching.
A tip off from Burgo (thanks) that this was unfound resulted in a joint mission to collect. On arrival something was seen to be moving and it certainly wasn't the camo so being glad of where the cache was we ascended will still observing social distancing climbing it opposite corners of the structure. Once at the appropriate height the hide was spotted and a blank log for a joint **FTF**

{FTF} with Bella at waggy at 10:30am, 16/05/20.

This morning I hatched up a plan to meet NSW caching royalty at GZ and was greeted by a snake (not him). We scurried up the water tower together to get away from the mouse it was chasing!

Always good to sign a fresh log and a fun climb to boot.

Thanks BenM70.
