Finally got a chance to head to the dam this afternoon and replace the missing cache.
We have another copy of this cache that is ready to be put in place. We were overseas for a month and have been extremely busy since returning home. We will try to check on the cache and replace it if necessary within the next few weeks. Apologies for the delay in replacing this,
This one appears to be missing in action - perhaps because of the flooding in recent times. We are disabling it for now but already have a replacement made. We are currently overseas, so will replace the cache when we're back - later in August. Sorry for the inconvenience.
i have tried looking for this one twice now but even after the CO reassured that it should be there i had no luck. maybe its been taken by the council or something?
Although the last 4 logs are DNFs, we would be shocked if this cache was missing. It might have been flooded, but it's unlikely that it would have been washed away. It's NEVER gone missing (come hail or high water) in the 11+ years that it's been hidden - though the original listing was archived by the reviewer in 2020 after too many DNFs, as we didn't see the reviewer's request for us to make contact.
We had completed the circular walk around Manly Dam a few years ago picking up all the caches. This is new since then so we were anxious to find it. Sadly it was not to be. Had a good look but could t spot it.
Knew this was going to be hard, but looked for what I thought was absolutely everywhere. No luck at all. Felt around all under the board walk.
A fraction more than 5 seconds, but easy find. TN left kaleidoscope key chain. Log damp.

Another one I couldn’t find before and found in 5 sec flat today. Really like this cache design. FP awarded. TFTC!
Headed out to Manly Dam today to do the power trail with Jennyfromthefarm. I'd done a few of the caches before but didn't get to finish the trail loop. At first I guessed this was going to be a shell container given the cache name and the well known tongue twister 'she sells seashells by the sea shore'. So was surprised when it wasn't that. Cool hide. FP for design of container as well camoflauged.
Went out to do some Manly Dam caches with Discobob3 today.
Started at 8am
Finished at 1:30pm
Weather: Sunny
All good here TFTC

I remember there was one ZFPT cache I missed during my original run as it was unavailable at the time, but luckily I could still find the final. I thought today this must have been it, and I would some years later finally complete the series for real. However, it seems I indeed already logged the original of this hide, but then it had to be relisted. The one I missed must no longer exist though I understand such amazing hides must have been tricky to maintain. With the recent back burning I hope no more were lost. Fond memories as I took wifey around the dam on my first loop since completing the series. If you are still out there Zargs I hope you are well!
Found fairly easily after a small slip and fall close to GZ. Good camo. Thank you.
With pdbunce and minnie28 as we set off on the loop of Manly Dam.log is too wet to sign. Have photo proof of needed. TFTC
Two of us finally got around to doing a walk around the dam to check on all of our caches.
We started at section 4, so this was to be our first cache. Sadly, we missed it and were in too much of a hurry to go back, as we didn't want to be locked in the park when the gates shut at 5:30.
The cache is still there and able to be found, the log is just wet. Feel free to log a FOUND IT, even if you can't sign. We'll replace it with a dry one the next time we're here.

A girlfriend from Melbourne was in Sydney with work for a few days, and she said that she'd love to come and learn about geocaching. It turns out that today is also the tenth anniversary of finding my first geocache
Anyway, she was very excited that this cache was hidden so differently to the first one, a feeling that continued throughout the day.
Thanks for the cache, zargfinders

First one for today. Such a nice walk around the dam. Hope the track is a bit drier moving forward.
Success on our 3rd attempt - found with help from a friend! Very sneaky hide! TFTC
One of the cleverest hides I have seen. Requires dexterity. That aside from beautiful Manly Dam.
Any great cache with my fav geocaching buddies. TFTC

Found this clever cache on a rainy day when there were no muggles around. Had found the first cache but this time it took 2 visits as first time there were many muggles walking the track. TFTC
Found this in its previous life and now again. Tricky hide worth a favourite. TFTC
Great camo!
The area was pretty empty, but as soon as I got up after placing it back and turned around, saw wild muggles staring at me. One of them sounded concerned if I had lost something.

We had noticed a string of DNFs on this one, so had a quick look whilst doing a circuit walk around the dam's picnic areas this morning, and can confirm the cache is safe & well in it's well hidden hiding spot. It's a tricky hide, but so rewarding once you find it, so keep on looking. Happy caching everyone
Like vk2df said, this cache is still there. It's one of our few caches that has NEVER gone missing. However, it was even archived once because of people's DNFs and us failing to notice the reviewer telling us to check on it). This is still the original cache. Don't be discouraged by DNFs!!
Very sneaky hide indeed. A degree of timing was involved in retrieving as it is a well worn walking track. With CIH and signing duties conducted it was replaced as found ready for the next geo-adventurers. Thanks goes to the CO for this cache and bringing us to this location.
Had this one checked to ensure it was still there and, of course, it was. When you find it you'll realise that it's highly unlikely to go missing.
Contrary to the last few DNFs, we can confirm that it’s still there and highly unlikely to go missing. Had found this one ages ago but since forgotten where it was. TFTC Zfs.
This is coming up on our dashboard as having a "low health score"?! We're assuming that's because of the recent DNFs. However, this cache has NEVER gone missing since it was first hidden in 2013. It was republished in 2020 simply because we didn't notice the emails warning us that it was going to be archived (based on DNFs) so it was archived before we could verify that is was still there. So keep looking. It's just a bit tricky.
Sneaky, even with the great hint, almost missed it.
Loved it! Easy favourite point.

Although I'd "found" this in its earlier life, that was actually a group find, at night and with the real work done by a Viking, so I had no recollection of what or where this was. Certainly a tricky hide that didn't want to come out to play too easily. Nice to make a real find this time. Thanks zargfinders.
Recent rain and high water left this cache a bit soggy. So replaced with a new ziplock bag, logbook, cache note and pencil.
Find #478
After visiting West Head this morning and find a few caches in that northern area, we had an Easter get together with a few family friends down at section 3, so my mum dropped me in Allambie and I made my was from there, picking up 4 caches on the way.
This was the fourth and last cache of the afternoon, and also the fastest. This was mainly because I have previously found the archived version.
Noting this version is the same, once at GZ, I went straight to the cache. I really like this camo, I find it really clever and it blends in really well, but easy to spot once you know where it is.
Unfortunately, I think the recent rains caused the water level to rise, so the cache is completely waterlogged. I've got a photo as proof of find if needed.
Otherwise, I enjoyed the cache, but it does need some urgent care and maintenance. Hopefully it won't happen again.

We did the original one some years ago, so we just wanted to clear off this new one from our nearby map.
So, after having done a BBQ with SES at Manly Dam, we went up to this one. The camouflage is great, but, unfortunately, the log is a bit damp. It seems that water might be coming up from underneath when it is very wet.

Got to GZ and couldn’t find it. Just about to give up when I decided to have final look. Spotted something that could be a cache. Yes it was. Sat down to sign the log when a leech latched on. Got him off and now for the nest one.
#7681 (3 of 7 today)
Another calendar finds day, so headed east to clean up a few caches on the coast. Went for seven and got them all - including one re-do that took longer than it should. The main problem today was so many muggles out and about most of my finds needed stealth - which is why I normally prefer to cache during the working week.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
And here is the redo. Parked close - grumble, parking fee, grumble - and walked to GZ. Now I got this one's predecessor almost 6 years ago. but I had a feeling I knew the hide and when I got to the area also the spot.
But could I see this one today?
Plenty of passing muggles - luckily my pen fell out of my pocket as one went by asking if I was OK - and I could claim picking up my pen I'd dropped. Totally true.
I was getting less OK, though as it's hot and there is no shade here.
Finally went to my records of the previous find (in a shady spot a short distance away) - to see both my recollections were spot on - at least some of my faculties haven't totally left me.
So back to GZ and a more focused look revealed the prize. Made the grab, took a short distance away to complete signing duties, and snaffle the non-logged in TB, then back for the replace.
Must say I left impressed re my own finding skills back then, as last time this was found almost at the end of a complete circuit of the dam.
Back to the car and away to my next target.
Of course the brilliant camo and placement deserves another favourite point.

Hmm, I found the original over seven years ago, but have no clear recollection of the hide. Not only did nothing look familiar but nor did anything look like a cache. It was very busy today which thwarted a thorough search.
One of the boldest but best camouflage I’ve found. It took me ages and I found the original!?!
It is worth more than a D2!!!

zargfinders I didn’t find your cache ZFPT19 - By the Seashore on 13/11/20, 3:55 pm. Had a quick search, running out of time.
Took a while. Hard find. Something out of place.
Lucky the track was closed so not much traffic.

A quick find. Love the camo and placement. OCW Brewmaker and MaxAdventurer. TFTC zargfinders
We found the original a few years ago. Now that smiley had gone we were over this way to tidy it up. Had forgotten what the hide was until we got to GZ. Then I remembered and grabbed it in the second place I checked. So it's still there as it has been for several years. And still a great hide. It's not going to go missing from there. Have a FP to make up for the original one. And hope any future DNFs don't force another archiving. TFTC
Don't be discouraged by a DNF. We're 99.9% sure the cache is there. Last time there were a few DNFs in a row the cache ended up getting archived by the reviewer because we didn't notice his warning messages. This is still the original cache. It's NEVER gone missing in its 7 1/2 years.
