After 15 minutes if snooping around we left with no cache in hand. The sun was out enemy today, chasing us back to the comfort of the car. Will be back to try again soon!
Looked for this one a few times in recent months, but never quite got myself in the right spot. Today, having recently discussed this cache with other earlier finders, I was a bit more determined, and so after checking a few incorrect spots, I spotted something familiar (initially from afar, then up close). So I honed in to the cache, retrieved it, signed the log and then sealed everything back up. Thankfully the spider cache guardian was deceased. Glad to finally tick this one off. Cheers Tankengine . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their long lasting, and ongoing connections to land, sea and community. We (the pants people) pay our respects to Traditional Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Thanks for the cache. Took longer than it. Should I originally saw it dismissed it and then on a second look decided to investigate further.
Being familiar with the CO's hides and deception, this cache was quickly in hand after eliminating the obvious
This afternoon I headed out the door, scooted down the road, and caught a bus to Civic to donate Plasma, them scooted to the ANU for "closing drinks" for an art exhibition I had not been to yet ... then I scooted over to a currently secret location to make sure a cache I had hidden was still there, before I do the listing and submit it for publishing, then figured that seeing today is the one day this week without a geocaching event i have attended, or plan to then maybe I should find a cache ... so I had a look at the map and saw that this one had popped up a while ago, without me noticing ... so after a brief bit of indecision as to what side of the temporary fence it was actually on, I headed along the path ... and I looked here, there, and everywhere with no cache found ... but I read some logs, was one sort of hint that resulted in me getting my arm wet up to my elbow - lol - but no cache find there ... but I widened my search a bit further and there it was ... not sure why I didn't spot that a bit sooner - lolTFTC - I enjoyed my night time scoot and find, on a slightly warmer evening than the last few have been I kept going along the path after the find, and it went to a dead end, but then I noticed that there was a way through, that ended up being a nice easy way to scoot to the bus Interchange (But I had just missed one, so I went chasing Munzees, and missed the next one, so I chased some more Munzees, before I actually got on a bus at the stop before the interchange, and headed home - yes, I am weird - lol)
Was 2/3rds through a Star Wars movie marathon and had a couple of hours to kill between screenings. Decided to head out for a brief geocaching jaunt to get some cardio in.Needed my torch for some help with this one, but was expecting it to be tricker than it was.TFTC!
Found 31 Mar 2024 at 10:52:23amOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffin with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went. Many thanks to Tankengine for placing West Washbasin for us all to find
Finally we are in Canberra for the GeoBash.Today we started the day with a tour of the paddlesteamer PS Enterprise and then we hopped on the bikes and rode some of the lake.Really enjoyed our tour around the area on a beautiful autumn day. I'll bet there are some great photos taken here. Thanks for contributing to our holiday Tankengine
A day of exploring the city today and a relaxing walk around the lake. It took a while to find this one and i was very glad it went back without mishap!
A nice cool morning and not too many muggles around to disturb my search.Carefully signed the log and moved on. TFTC TE and a fav awarded.
Found after a short search, once I expanded my radius a little. Was worried wed need the contents of the box. Thanks for the cache Tankengine
Spotted the hide from on the water while paddle boarding on Christmas Eve morning. Lack of a writing implement meant another visit. Boxing Day bike ride to the National Museum for the Ancient Egyptian exhibition provided the perfect opportunity to cycle by and retrieve the prize. Signed, and carefully replaced. TFTC TankEngine
I'm not having much luck this morning, two in a row I couldn't find. My geo senses are obviously still asleep, and your hide a little sneaky.
My Great-Grandmother had a saying that you could be in the right pew of the wrong church . This was one of those situations. Ive driven by this area hundreds of times but today I stopped to try this cache. I read the hint as I approached the GZ and immediately started looking around the potential hiding spots. I reviewed the old logs and thought I knew what to look for. It turns out that my rush to start looking overrode my instincts to confirm the GZ. I can confidently say that the cache is NOT to be found 47m north of the GZ. Fairly quick find once I completed some basic geocaching navigation. TFTH FP
Talk about overthinking! Out for a leisurely lake stroll on a cooler and windy day, aiming to go past this cache on purpose for a quick find. In the end I spent the best part of an hour (95% of which was waiting for passer-by to leave me free to search), trying way too many things for a much more straight forward find in the end. Stuck my fingers where I shouldnt. Stuck my head where I shouldnt. Left the area rather dishevelled and a great deal dirtier (and a little bit damper) than when I arrived.I tried to find it by feel at first - no luck. Not a good option as there are some rather unpleasant things you can end up putting bare hands on if you are not careful! Then I decided it must be very tricky, so tried every exaggerated and awkward position I could get my head into (note to self - tie hair back rather than dunking into festy lake next time). Then it was the cameras turn - photos and electronic surveillance detective work, searching in every direction, nook and cranny. Still no luck! Then I did a loop of checking in an increasing circle getting further and further away. Nope. Searched some more circling back into the start point. Still nothing. Gah.Sat down and on the verge of giving up, messaged CO.No answer, so I went and tried a slightly different spot and took a sneaky peak. What. Is. That?!In the end the naked eye was the tool I needed.Retrieved cache and signed the log, all the time wondering how I made that so difficult!I did enjoy the wait time taking in the lake and surrounds, and that makes for a good cache find - even if it takes forever, its a nice place just to hang out for a bit.Cant wait until this area is finished, probably only another decade or two awayThanks for another mini-adventure searching for this cache.
Yes third time visit and find, only because I brought the wife who took less than a minute to locate. TFTC
I found myself in the area today, and remarkably there was hardly anyone around! Perfect conditions for a cache hunt - didn't take long before the prize was found.
TFTC, Tankengine!

Yay we found it! Was a race before the airport fight, mum found it a little hard for a pregnant lady! Pumpkins first cache
Arrice car park ,.. saw Jooley and come with me go find two caches and good walking make us good fits... lol tks
Oh so sneaky. But such a fabulous spot.
Thanks for getting me out and about Tankengine

Looked in the obvious place first, however with no signs of the cache, I started to search a little wider and there it was. TFTC.
#3873 After an afternoon of sourcing multi information it was time to attempt a physical hold of a cache.
With the darkness closing in and the air frigid in the breeze this was our nearest option.
Had a thought but then set about thoroughly searching a nearby option. After exhausting the possibilities there DeadThief returned to plan A and found the cache. Thanks Tankengine.

A quicky on the way home from work. Not a nice area, total devoid of nature, no where to land the canoes like we did in years gone by and deadly treadly people trying to run me down. Don't they have bells, a little warning would be polite. Thanks Tankengine
Just a lovely day to be out just a quick find sign and placed back where it belong TFTC
Walking from Tuggeranong to civic, this cache popped up on my radar and almost at the end, it was a rewarding find, muggle free. This place wasn’t busy during a weekday, but I’m sure after all the work nearby has been completed finding this cache muggle free will be harder. Tftc. Thanks for the new log
Happen to be passing, so replaced the logsheet! Old logsheet attached!
GOOD TO GO!!!
GOOD TO GO!!!
Came back the year after with friends alislaur and Flatfish23x3 and had a lot better luck (or at least Alislaur did!) Nice afternoon for it ) TFTC!
Google earth data would have this as a terrain 5. But Glad for the new construction. Amazed that the walkway is cantilevered. No wonder it cost what it did. Thanks for the fun!
On a wet but occasionally warm morning, I started with my weekly trip into Civic for coffee. After lots of talk about why I should have stayed at work, I headed out for a little caching. By the time I had found some where to park and got on my scooter, it was beginning to drizzle again. I started with the WP for the multi then the trad and onto the final for the multi. By the time I was heading back over Commonwealth avenue bridge, it was really raining and I was soaked getting back into the car. I decided not to do any more caching and headed home to while away the afternoon.
I started off looking at one area, but the realised who had made the hide and changed my focus entirely. The water was attacking me from all sides, but I kept everything dry once I spied the cache in a really interesting spot.
Thanks for the cache Tankengine

Forgot to log this one. We were here to do some maintenance a little while ago and I was suppose to log it then. But of course forgot. it is a nice little spot and deserves a cache.
Great Tankengine cache as always. Tftc!!!

On our run/ride around LBG and tooka detour to check out the new area, and see if we could find TE's new cache addition. The bike provided a good excuse to kneel without looking to suspicious, and after a quick search of nearby features we soon had the cache in hand. No issues retrieving or returning it. Thanks for another great cache TE!
A very nice new area! Took a while to hone into the area of the cache but eventually saw something noteworthy and then the cache. I was very careful no to drop anything which succeeded. TFTC Tankengine!

Decided to come out this way to check out the new development, and of course find a cache or two. Luckily for me the cache was quickly located! Thanks for the fun!

In the city this morning and had 30 minutes to kill! Decided to check out this new area and go for a little stroll!
Despite it being an absolutely fantastic morning with beautiful weather and not a cloud in the sky, this area was almost totally deserted! Only saw a single bike rider and a single walker the 15 minutes I spent in the area! Oh well, means I had the place to myself to search!
After looking in the obvious spots for a couple of minutes, I soon moved away and noticed something else very interesting, before spotting the TE themed hide!
Thanks for the placement, a lovely walk along this new walkway. Can’t wait to see how it develops in the future

This is my third trip to Canberra this year. And truthfully it has not been a good start. Marred by airline baggage fails and a morning buying some essentials. But after lunch, I set off for my planned day of geocaching. I love Canberra and am bloody happy to be here. I have big plans for this trip. Today I wanna grab some choice Jasmer geocaches and in a couple of days will head to the Snowies.
I'm out on foot with my now-heavy carry-on backpack headed for this geocache as my first target for the day. I walk past the Captain Cook Water Jet and for the first time up close while operational. It truly is a spectacle. I watch it and keep walking. Sadly the wind is an easterly so the spray blows across the path. Though, all freshwater impoundments smell the same and the mist reminds me of Wivenhoe Dam near home and countless holidays there as a kid.
Under the highway I detour up the small slope to the plaque about the rocks from far away. Interesting and surprising they haven't got a multicache on them or similar. Onwards walking and to the west of the bridge, the mist is still gracing me. But I head now along the foreshore towards GZ. I see some timid but big ol' catfish along the way.
When there I set my bag down against the object at my GZ. Reading the description, I think I side with the critics of development - this is such a perfect place for public consumption and investment. But right now all I can do is look for a geocache.
Summer and the sun is beating down. I have a lot of hours ahead of me outside today so aim to avoid sun where possible. The hint guides me to a likely place and I scour it carefully. No geocache. I try some very unlikely things nearby. No geocache. Ugh.
For a change I sit down in the shade of the box and pull out my laptop. Sometimes a bigger screen just helps. I get an idea in my head and get up to test it out. With no muggles about I look - ah there it is. Such a Tankengine hide!
Quickly repositioning myself, I make a quick find, then retire to sign the logbook at about 13:15. I replace as found (without getting it wet), then pack up my stuff and head off to find a scooter to make my next target geocache a little easier on my feet. Thanks for this geocache, Tankengine

After the morning chores were done, we decided to go for a bike ride since the weather looked good with little wind.
After crossing Commonwealth bridge from south to north, we took a trip down to the new area that is being renovated along the lake.
Wow! There is a lot of reclaimed land here. At the moment everything looks quite bare, but given time, I’m sure it will be quite beautiful.
The new area is definitely deserving of a cache or two! Oh… and there is one right here, along our bike ride. Sussing out the location, we had a careful think about where one might hide a cache.
A bit of searching, and all was revealed. Very nice, and very appropriate for this location.
Log signed.
Thanks Tankengine. A FP here.

Found on a lovely day of caching now that I don't have Honours to do on the weekend! It was only a matter of time before a cache was placed here, wasn't it! Maybe one day there'll be some multis, virtuals or ALs once all features have been built. It took a bit of time to find but I should have expected where it was going to be. Nicely hidden! Lovely walk, cannot wait to see what the precinct will look like in the future. TFTC TE!
Smart hide, pleasant location despite being cold and windy today. Thanks for bringing us down this way for an early inspection. Look forward to seeing the end result. TFTC Tankengine.

Spent 15 minutes looking and no luck this time... found something else that another catcher must have also tried as it was loose, but alas nothing to be found! Will be back soon to try again
I was setting up a multi on Tuesday afternoon and wanted to place the final location right about here when I stumbled on the cache .
So signed it without knowing it’s name . The style looked familiar .
Fortunately my multi has a start point that can still be done . It’s the end point I will have to adjust . I had waited a year for this walk area to be finished too.
Anyway , beaut hiding spot and view !
Many thanks to Tankengine for the newly opened location and hide.

We were not sure if we were *FTF* on this as it has an undated signature, although feel perhaps we were first tonight. Soon explained though! Cool location this evening... more later....
Yabba Dabba Doo *FTF* with Aquilus1!
Perfect, I had wanted to get out before dark for some caching but didn't mange, so this late publish got me out caching after all. Messaged A1 and she was in as well. Arrived at a deserted lake front area. Good time to search for this cache though, it will be very hard once this area gets popular. Found and noticed a preexisting signature without date. After conversing with the cacher we will claim FTF and would have been even happier to share.
Great hide in a great new area. Which doesn't look it yet.
Thank you Tankengine for putting the cache out and maintaining it.
