#3,703: Seated Smiley!
I came to this one after waiting out a rain storm in the campervan. The family had a nice wee walk around the loop, and found some, but not all of the caches. Very nice spot here! Was able to put my hand to the cache after following the fun description!

Headed out for a visit to Hokitika Gorge today, before flying back to Auckland later this afternoon. The weather had been a bit dodgy today, but thankfully no showers came through as I did the lovely loop walk here. A quick find here. TFTC!

I found this cache while on a family holiday to the South Island. We had an amazing time covering more than 3000km and seeing some of the very best our country has to offer. We were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed a wide range of experiences.

Took longer to find than it should have. we had to wait for some muggles to move along before making the find.

09-Jan-21
Found on 9/01/2021.

Doing a big loop around the South Island with the Kayaks. Grabbing a few caches along the way.
Took some time for this one.

I decided to have a walk on the new extension walkway oup at the Hokitika Gorge.

It was too wet to sit down and it was too far to reach the cache if I did anyway.

Cheers for the cache.

As my Uncle William is visiting this weekend the extended family came out here for a walk even though it was already spitting when we left the weather didnt deter us. 11 of us in total. The tail end of our group had now caught up with a smaller midway group who had stopped to take photos but Ben was again the one to find this making very quick work of spotting the cache but then spending someone "smaller" to retrieve it. Score: Mum 1, Ben 2. Thanks for placing this cache and adding to our smilies today Smile

05-Oct-20
Lovely walk through the gorge. Nice way to finish.

02-Oct-20
Found on our tour of the South Island.
Absolutely stunning gorge despite the rain. Cache found and all is well here. Good location as the seat gives a good rest spot to sign the log. TFTC

Big GrinFTF Big Grin with Hazedarus.
We were almost ready to leave to come and get these new caches and a couple of solved "Survivor" puzzles when there was a small flurry of new caches published, 4 of them on the West Coast so of course that delayed our departure for a while until we had sorted GZ for a couple of them.
Last time here the new track development was well under way with bits of the new bridges ready to be installed and when we read recently it had opened hazedarus mentioned it would be a good opportunity to place some new caches there.
You snooze, you lose but I don't mind a bit.
No problem finding the cache here between muggles before we sat and took in the view after taking the obligatory photos.
Thank you Sidewaze.

Big GrinFTFBig Grin With Holymu. The storm finally blew itself out and we were in the process of getting ready for a visit to the extended Hokitika Gorge Walkway and two solved puzzle caches when the phone started ringing. New notifications of multi, trad and puzzle caches and none needing much of a detour. We looked at what was needed and with some serious teamwork it didn't take long before we were on our way. Last time we visited the track extension was still a work in progress and we couldn't wait to see the final result. No expense has been spared and the boardwalks, bridge and track is fantastic. Definitely worthy of some caches Big Grin
I do trust DOC for placing seats with an ulterior motive. Either you need a break or there is something special. The view is spectacular and we sat down for a bit to enjoy it after making the find. A fav. Thank you Sidewaze
