It was a stinker, so decided to go for a swim at platypus Beach. Such a great little spot. Then thought why not do a cache before heading to camp.Loved this walk. Felt like we were on the Murray. Nothing more peaceful for me than been surrounded by red gums. No snakes sighted today which was good. Was almost tempted to go for a swim again.Great spot and cache.FP from me.
I'm visiting Victoria from Brisbane. I have spent the last few days with friends in Beechworth visiting numerous wineries. Today and tomorrow I'm heading my way slowly back down towards Melbourne, visiting lots of caches that I have planned on the way and zigzagging from one small town to another across the Hume.Arriving at the parking coordinates, I made my way to the sign and then to the bridge. Having worked out my projection, I then continued walking along this beautiful, peaceful trail serenaded by the many different birds here. It was lovely and quiet. The only thing that wasn't quite so lovely was when I didn't notice a dip in the trail and ended up sprawled on the ground having twisted my ankle. Picking myself up and dusting myself off I then hobbled towards GZ where the cache was found quickly and easily. After making my mark and then hobbled back to the car. I need to find an earthcache next and then l will find an open chemist so that I can wrap up my ankle which I'm sure will be a beautiful colour come tomorrow morning. It won't stop my caching, it'll just slow it down a little. Thank you for the cache and for bringing me to this lovely area.
Kid free, and with the wife at work, I decided to spend the afternoon caching around Wangaratta. So many little gems around Wang. Good weather today and lots of interesting caches and places visited. So many great tracks along the river around here. This is a really neat place, and awesome to see what their doing. Had fun doing this little projection. Did look in the wrong place at GZ, but soon after, a rethink soon spotted a likely spot. TFTC!
An enjoyable letterbox cache. We cycled around this lovely reserve. TFTC Jamin Appleford
Our second day in Wangaratta and we decided on a walk around the Mullinmur Billabongs. This was our first stop. Followed the directions, did the projection and signed the logbook at GZ. Beautiful walk. TFT
Nice walk through here in the morning. We parked further away and joined the trail along the river then did the loop. Although it was very windy we really enjoyed it and the letterbox cache was an added attraction. Had just enough internet reception to calculate the final GZ but it was all we needed to make the find. Nice little hidey spot . Thanks Jamin for showing us this spot, and lovely to meet you at our event.
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we went for a walk from our caravan park to explore the town on foot, completing some Adlabs and finding any caches we passed along the way. In the afternoon we drove out to explore Mullinmur Billabongs which was a lovely quiet spot. Unfortunately we didnt see any platypus while we were there but we did find this cache. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
We havent been doing much caching lately, but decided today was very worthy of logging as many hide types as possible, as close as possible to home.We have previously been to this wetlands area during the Wangaratta Mega and really enjoyed the walking tracks again today. This was one of a variety of caches that we enjoyed on this special leap year date. Thanks Jamin Appleford for the letter box cache placement.
Checked on this one today. Its unfortunately missing. I will try to get a new cache in place soon.
We have come to Wangaratta again to finish off finding the rest of the caches in town that we didn't do last weekend at the Mega. We walked around the Mullinmur wetlands by ourselves, not one else around, quiet and serene today. What a lovely area, the council have made enjoyable for the public to use. No mozzies today...yay! TFTC
Found while attending the 2022 Mega event at Wangaratta.
I drove across from Adelaide with Freddo. We took a week to get there and back as we meandered our way around northern Victoria, camping mostly along the river and generally avoiding contact with other people as far as possible to minimise covid risks.
While at the Mega we teamed up with gridge98 & Co. Most logs were signed FEGC (ie Freddo, e.gregory1 and gridge98 & Co).
We targeted some specific caches of interest, but also took the opportunity to find other random caches opportunistically as we were passing. Most of the puzzle caches were solved prior to leaving Adelaide in preparation for the trip.
Although we managed to find a lot of caches over the weekend, we really only barely scratched the surface, leaving plenty of excuses to return to the area another time. I'm sure I'll be back.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache.

Found on mega weekend. One of a bunch of caches found and logged.
e.Gregory1 and Freddo decided to travel to Wangaratta for Geocaching Victoria’s first 2022 Mega event. The attraction of GeoMaze icon was just too tempting. We packed the Land Cruiser for a bubble environment. There would be some public exposure but we would be keeping it minimal. Fortunately we did not bother with any warm clothes. Fortunately we packed some Bushmans with +20% DEET. There were caches to find and we found caches. We saw a lot of interesting places and met the occasional geocacher or two in the field.
I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.
This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...
Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.
Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

Nice and easy find, cache is all good
After heading to tassie for almost 3 weeks, we detoured to Wangaratta for the Victorian Mega to catch up with some friends that we hadn’t seen for months if not years. We caught up with Freddo and e.gregory1 for the duration of the weekend, travelling around the local areas finding many of the caches that were on offer. To save room in the log books we signed as FEG or FEGC.
A wonderful area and nice to have a look around in somewhere I had only visited for 20mins before.
Thanks for the cache

What a splendid morning for an exploration of this billabong area.
Suscoe enjoyed the wander and took in some delightful scenery.

It's great to see the work being done to improve the ecology of the billabongs.
I attended today with Ronice88, and a million of my closest mosquito friends who were trying to eat me, and enjoyed learning about the filtering system.
Thanks for this adventure, Jamin Appleford. A favourite point from me.

Such an interesting place. It was good to read the info boards whilst we walked around here. Thanks Jamin Appleford
Tftc Jamin Appleford,
Set off early to avoid the high temps forecast for today.
Nice shady walk .
Made our projection and arrived at GZ to find a nice sized cache in great condition.

Day Four: a bit of everything.
I stopped by here after the Farewell Event. I did the nearby Earthcache yesterday evening, and really liked the location. Significantly cooler under the tree cover, so a break from the heat of the day.
Easy instructions to GZ and the regular size isn’t hard to find. The stamp seems to have survived the Mega too.
Thanks again Jamin Appleford.

Down in Victoria for the long awaited (and necessarily postponed) Wangaratta MEGA, and a little holiday chasing the usual (oldies, counties and windmills). Just for something different we are adding ALs to the hit list and the graves of the regionally buried dead premiers. Lol the things we will do for a cache! Managed to cache with some friends at the Mega along the way - always a lovely treat. Today we thought we would tackle as many cache types and humanly possible in a day! Thanks to all the cache owners for creating and maintaining the fun. Thanks for the cache.
A mega jaunt with endeavour3 saw us caching this cache and writing in the log, then we moved on. A lovely place to explore. Today was an amazing day - what with the rare GPS Maze I scored 14 cache types in a single day!
Thanks to Jamin Appleford and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
Watawieh from Norfolk Island ???? South Pacific.
I have joined forces with TeamAstro to attend the Wangaratta Mega. Today I am chasing 14 different cache types in a day. This my fifth type.
We did the projection and the cache was exactly where we plotted. TFTC

Out and about enjoying the first day of the Wangaratta Mega. There is nothing better than cruising around collecting smiley faces whilst sharing some quality laughs with mates This was our first letterbox for the trip with plenty more.planned later in the day. Thanks for the hide!!

A road trip with Fox in Jox, AngelG27, and ZQX (Team FATZ) to attend the Wangaratta Mega. Today was picking off some particular D/T caches, attending events and aiming for 12 or 13 cache types in a day. Easily found while wandering around the billabongs doing an earthcache and finding a solved puzzle. TFTC.

Got the information and did the projection and we were on our way. We managed to fit it in nicely with the Earthcache nearby.
After organizing some time off to allow us to attend the Wangaratta Mega we are in town for an extended period.
We enjoyed attending the various activities organized during the Mega period as well as finding a very wide variety of different caches during our time here while catching up with caching friends we have met over the years.
The weather has been hot for us Gippslanders, and very humid as well.
Our thanks to the Mega committee for the enormous amount of effort that has gone into organizing the event and to the local cachers for their placements.
Congratulations to Geocaching Victoria and the local geocachers on a marvelous event.

Found with FUF009 while attending The Wangaratta Event.
We had picked this letterbox out as a to-do cache while planning at home.
It was nice to do a walk without a hoard of other people.
My car was the only 1 here when we set off but by the time we left there was a few more so we must have just missed the rush. Tftc

26,770. Found with minniek along with a lot more attendees of The Wangaratta (Mega) Event. I was honoured with winning the Official First To Find for the Mega Event - something I will treasure forever.
minniek and I have really been looking forward to The Wangaratta Event. The Victorian Mega Events have been so well run over the years, and with the 2021 (2022) version of the series being held around Wangaratta we knew it was going to be a fun fun event. Day 2 of our trip dawned much too early, but we were soon up and caffeinated and after the early event we started our days caching. This one was next on the list, and after a short walk in we had GZ calculated, and we made a nice quick find once at GZ. It helped a bit that there were 9 people standing there as we approached. Lol - don't you love Megas ! Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then we headed off to the next one.
Thanks Jamin Appleford !!

We loved the walk around here, though there were a few mosquitos enjoying us too.
Well done instructions and a good hide at the end of the journey.

Visited this billabong many times during my stay here. It is a lovely spot except for the mosquitoes. Thanks for this one Jamin Appleford
Found with McAdies and jelly_bean14 while we were at the Wangaratta MEGA event.

How many different types can we find in a day? This is the next one thanks to Nibletricecakes and GLISS! We're in town for this incredible Mega and this is my letterbox for the day. A great place to walk except for the mossies, which probably aren't as big a problem. Thanks for yet another cache Jamin Appleford. SL
Muggle65 looked after the solving business for this one but l was very impressive in my support role ?? We loved this area - thank you for bringing us here ??
I do love a letterbox cache and this one was exactly the kind of hybrid that I like. Geoson accompanied me while geodaughter had a small injury attended to. Also in attendance were A LOT of mosquitoes. I find the trick with mossies is to just keep moving - rather difficult with a three year old in tow. He wasn't happy - but having to navigate by phone meant I could only carry him on the way out. Fortunately my projection was spot on and the cache was easily found. Carrying my 98th percentile 3 1/2 year old I wondered at the strength of mothers who hate mosquito bites. Less impressed was the gentleman who I encountered who asked me if he was on the right track - I pointed out he needed a baby to carry and he could have mine "Not my job" was his curt response! Thanks for the adventure.
Following our GPS we seemed to end up on the wrong side of the river ????. So after another look at the Coords ??????& I drove back across the river & toward the Mega area & found our GZ! Great tree ??????
With the Mega event being held in Wangaratta, The Rats, Hoojar, Wilbert67 and I headed south for the main event but also plenty of other local hides.
We tackled trails around Glenrowan on Friday, together with Beechworth and the HSS Series before spending time around Wangaratta on the Saturday.
A nice (but hot) adventure today.
TFTC!

Headed south with my caching mates, steeba, Hoojar and Wilbert to attend the on, off, on again COVID restricted Wangaratta Mega event...... credit to the organisers for persisting.
With us having limited time in the area, we tried to pack as much as we could into each day. From Glenrowan, to Beechworth, to Mrytleford, to Warby Ovens NP, to the streets of Wangaratta, we seemed to be on the go all the time. While the weather was too hot for caching at times we often found relief by cooling off in the river.
We found so many different types of caches, its a credit to all the CO's for providing the caches for everyone to find, whether they were new or old placements, we had a great time in Wang.
It was mega Saturday and this cache was part of my 12 types in a day

Not wanting to pass up a letterbox find, I ended up here, late at night not realising it was a multi stage....
Anyways off I ventured into the night...
All instructions were clear, and worked including the GZ being spot on!
Nice night for a walk...

A gorgeous walk through a lovely wooded riverside landscape. The huge girth of these trees was astounding. Heymissjo and I could understand why one particular river gum specimen had an ancient cubby house and a rough plank ladder set up on it.
The listed coords lead us to the required reference point, where another team was battling with calculations. Fortunately, projections are one of the few things I do well, and we were all soon heading off to GZ together.
Despite the heat of the day, we were very thankful that much of this journey was in the shade of these glorious river gums.
A lovely hide, in a gorgeous location, at the end of a relaxing walk.
Thanks so much for bringing us here, Jamin Appleford, and helping Heymissjo and I secure our 12th cache type of the day.
3 more to go...

Found by The Empire + H and the amazing caching crew!
Staying in nearby Corowa, we arrived on Friday and drove in each day. Assembling at the mega site then heading out in convoy with the crew to meet up with cachers all over town, we had plenty of laughs in the sticky, humid weather. I climbed heaps of trees - some with the help of trusty ladder, and got eaten alive by mozzies! Rebel had found this one earlier in the week - made it easy! Thanks for the cache Jamin Appleford, and the whole Geocaching community in Wangaratta and the surrounding towns for putting on a great mega!

After arriving at the Mega with LuckyL10n around lunchtime and checking in, we hit up Maze and the AL's around the Mega site. From there we headed out and about the NKH series grabbing about half of those before heading back into town for a couple of more different types of caches to hopefully manage 12 in the day. We finished the day, as mos people did, attending the great community dinner event...and as it turned out a great way to finish the day.
Thanks to all the CO of the cache we found.....

A long-awaited trip with fitzy_1965 to Wangaratta for the 2021/2022 Mega!
Day 2 saw us up early to head off to the event and catch up with people we haven’t seen for a long while. The Maze and the on-site Labs were our priority before setting out. We then teamed up with albida33 for the day and ended up getting 12 different types without really trying. Back to camp at about 5pm to get ready for the dinner event. The shower block was a welcome sight! Dinner was great and again a great way to be able to sit and chat with people. Thankfully our tent dried during the day so back to sleeping in comfort tonight.
Thanks to all CO’s for their cache placement and maintenance.

In Wang for the mega and catching up with the caching crew. It was some warm humid weather but we found some great hides and many different types, while away. It's great caching with others, with lots of laughs and fun had.
This was a great area to explore, despite the mozzies and cicadas. Punched in the projection and we were off to find the hide. It was an easy enough find, once at GZ.
Thanks Jamin Appleford for placing the cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy the find.

This was the start of a long day and a very important day for me. Trying to beat my previous type finds in a day total.
This is going to be a very well organised, stressful and fun day. We had set ourselves a challenge to pick up as many different types of caches in a day, grab some higher altitude caches and then to add to it, grab some different size caches all in a day.
With our game faces on Domsky’s and I headed to the start of today’s list. We were super excited and had a good plan. First was an event and then head out to grab the MT. Buller caches and then work our way back to town.
It was a super fun day and a relatively easy and fun time, we even got to see some “Serenity”.
In the case of the events, we signed the logbooks and in the case of a cache, we signed and replaced as found. Thank you to all the CO’s for our journey today, it was memorable.

The lure of a couple of extra icons (Maze and Locationless) meant that I was more keen than normal to attend a Mega Event. Covid issues asside, a plan was hatched, rehatched, changed and finalised to attend for a few days in Victoria with Steeba, Wilbert67 and The Rats. Another trip away like countless others that we have done before, and yet totally different, thanks to Covid.
The caches were excellent. The company, as always, fantastic. We find more than our fair share of Adventure Labs, as well as complting a few series. I think we walked away with 300 finds, not a bad haul. The laughs were endless, but that is to be expected on trips away like this.
Thanks so much to all of the cache hiders, and especially to the event organisers. I cannot imagine the hoops that you had to keep jumping through to get this off the ground. A special thank you for bringing the Maze Down Under!
Please forgive the boiler-plate log, I assure you it is no reflection on the caching experience of our few days away. Again thank you to all cache owners for their hides.
Cheers

#12848 - 5:35:00 PM; Arrived in Wang for the Mega this morning with Sol de lune. After attending the Mega site, completing the Maze along with a number of adventure labs and helping at the CITO, we headed out to make a start on the Ned Kelly Helmet trail. Returned to town to check in to our accommodation, then it was back out to add to our "types in a day" tally. While the NKH series had covered LBH type, we decided to collexct this one while we were in the area. An entertaining cache and a favourite too! TFTC Jamin Appleford
Found while doing the nearby earthcache with Nibletricecakes and Smittengranny as part of our Wangaratta Mega experience. I had a fabulous time discovering so many interesting aspects of the area. Thanks to all the cos for hiding and maintaining their caches.
**Out and about with Happy Pants, Happy Feet, The Empire, Omegaman1971 & Rebel Acts**
In town for the Mega. Today our target was scattered caches throughout the town and attend events and catch up with a few people we hadn't seen for a while owing to Covid. Made this find on a warm, humid day surrounded by squadrons of mozzies Good company, many laughs had and memories made.
A nice straight find here as Rebel had found it during the past few days .
Thanks for the cache Jamin Appleford. Appreciate your efforts.

**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise.

Wangaratta Mega trip Day 3. It has taken quite some time to get this trip going so it is a great feeling to be on the road for a great weekend away with great caching with friends and new friends. Today was the first day of the Mega itself, and started with the events of the day. The Maze was a great experience. There were 20 Gadget Labs to be solved, some quite a challenge. After lunch I headed out with Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK to get to as many cache type in a day as we could without going to Mt Buller for a Webcam cache. The day ended with the Community dinner which was an amazing bonus to be provided to the Mega.
Thanks for the cache Jamin Appleford

A great letterbox cache to track down by bike
Or electric skooter if that's your thing
Three of us peddaled and buzzed from the Mega Site to the 'bongs to track down this cache
With good directions to steer us,
the cache was soon located in it's nest

We found this cache after visiting the nearby Earthcache. We met a couple of fellow cachers visiting from Norfolk and Adelaide. Thanks for bringing us here.
Posting a find on this nice little hide. A very lovely place to go for a calm stroll after almost going postal from the mozzies at the CITO

Found by FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ, ZQX) on a busy day. Left PT. Saw other cachers on the trail.
This extended weekend, team FATZ (Fox in Jox, AngelG27, TikvaNZ and ZQX) headed to the Wangaratta Mega.
Today was the Mega, picking up a bunch of different caches and catching up with people I haven't seen for a while.
Collected the info and wandered over to gz for a quick sign. TFTC JA

I love letterboxes, always enjoy the little adventures they take me on! This was a nice find, located after trying to grab as many cache types as I can on the first day of the Wangaratta Mega. TFTC! ????
Big day today! All things mega and lots of different icons to log. Spend most of the day in and around Wangaratta and had lots of fun!

Thank you.
Thank you.
First day of the second day with team T.A.C.K.T at the mega. Off we go to venture forth and cache away the hours and hopefully meet new friends and discover new places
Throwing out some new caches and trying some we shy away from usually :3

Another one bites the dust! The Welder and I have been working on ticking off as many cache types in a day as possible. It was a delightful walk in and despite the heat, the trees added some shade. I always like to stop to admire the grandfather trees and wonder what stories they could share. The reserve was certainly alive today with various birds, frogs, insects and other wildlife… it really was singing a fine tune. Once we arrive at the bridge, we met with other cachers who were trying to figure out the direction…. I think The Welder liked that he could whip out his phone and project on the fly. Once at gz, it was quickly spotted and a smily could be gained. Thanks for the cache, a beautiful place to visit.

Love billabongs and the changes communities can do to improve and educate locals and visitors. Headed here with Crustyvarmint on a bike and scooter (in that order??)and really enjoyed the peace. Crunched the numbers and found the treasure. Awesome big day today with a target and big plan to do all things mega and chase all those doable different icons in a day. Hats off to the Wangaratta committee who has persevered to make this happen - had lots of fun! TFTC and bringing us here.
Looked to be the easier of the two letterboxes in the area.. So took a stab and it was quick. Much cooler in this forest too
Made my up to Wangaratta to attend the Mega event over this weekend that we have finally been able to attend.
Thanks to everyone behind the scenes for making this happen on this weekend.
Now for a day of driving and walking to find as many caches of various types as I can.
Social distancing is all the go and trying to recognise cachers with their masks on is a game in itself.
Headed to the billabong area straight after the morning event and it was very pleasant walking around here and doing the complete loop.
I started at the other end and made my way to the start of the trail and off I went.
The only issue walking around here is the blooming mozzies, I think I attracted the whole tribe to me while walking through here.
Found the bridge and made my projection which is not always easy on my phone and soon had the letterbox cache in hand.
Ticked a Letterbox cache off the list.
Thanks Jamin Appleford TFTLC.

On our walk to the nearby earth cache, we took a short detour to collect answers and find our way to GZ here.
Without a doubt this is a very scenic and well hidden part of Wangaratta and we did enjoy visiting.

Cache 8488 on 15 Jan 2022.
Headed to Wangaratta with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and ZQX to attend the Mega, Maze and generally pick up a stack of caches around the area. Looking forward to fun weekend caching and catching up with buddies! About time my new car got some Kms on the odometer!
Today: caching in and around Wangaratta, getting a few different cache types in a day, interesting DT combinations and a bit of socialising! Started with a few easy ones in town, then an 8km hike in Warby-Ovens National Park and then back for events around the Showgrounds and a few more caches for personal and published challenges.
This cache: getting tired by now, but happy to grab another LBH! Followed the instructions and did the projections, and found a cache!
Thanks Jamin Appleford for the cache and the fun!

I’m wearing Indonesian mozzie spray and Bushman’s (double layered) and the mozzies are still trying to get me!!!!! Great spot though!
A quick find with PapaGrouch while in town for the mega. Running around getting lots of cache types in one day and this Letterbox was one of them. Glad we did this one earlier in the morning, as we got hot enough walking around even then, and the temperature just went up after that. TFTC
We weren’t having much luck with mozzies, but our walk along this trail at dusk was lovely, thanks for bringing us here ??
Combined this with the Earthcache but should've done the EC first as it got too dark to see and our EC answers will be rubbish. Oops. But always like a Letterbox projection.
Caching around the MEGA collecting a few finds with some of the Queenslanders
Good area for a walk here

**This Cache:**
Enjoyed the little instructions for this one, they were easy to follow and understand. My projection ended up being slightly off, so whilst myself, Sui and sebass19 searched too far off the track DSD was lagging behind and found it instantly calling us all back!
Thanks, a fun little letterbox in a great wetlands
**Today:**
Signed the log as **AB!** to save room, which stands for **Adventure Boys!**, which consisted of Loci612, Sui_001, DARKSIDEDAN and sebass19 during the Wangaratta Mega Event!
Day 1 of our mega trip, an early morning drive from Canberra to Wangaratta with plenty of caching thrown in! Cankid also joined us for today, but could only spend a single night in town. Did some caches in Wodonga and Eldorado before starting in Wangaratta!
Thanks to all the CO's!
