Enjoying a day in Te Awamutu clearing some caches. Did the nearby Adlab and then tried this one It did take awhile and I was doing a final look before giving up. At least it was a bit bigger than the others So pleased when I spotted it TFTC

Found it at shoulder height as described. Log full

Very hard

25-Aug-24
Picked up five caches on my drive through to Otorohanga this afternoon. However this wasnt one of them. Id found a couple of other caches nearby, then wandered along to this one. Spent several minutes looking for it. There seemed to be one obvious hiding spot, even though my coords were indicating the cache to be several metres away. Peered inside from three different vantage points but couldnt spot anything. I admit Im not always successful with this sort of hide! Based on the number of DNFs over time I would suggest the difficulty rating for this one would be at least 2.0! May try again when Im next in the area.

Thank you was hard to find but heaps of fun

**S 38 00.546 E 175 19.667**#15,306. Park, walk and grab on Arawata Street in Te Awamutu. Fortunately, the GZ was all quiet at the time of our visit. Took a while to eventually spot the container about 8 metres away. The cache itself was in good condition, but the logbook was full. Managed to find some white space at the top to sign. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.*Thanks for the geocache placement, and for bringing us to this site, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On **May 3rd, 2025**, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. 07-Jul-24
We have been here a few times but today came with new determination. And suddenly there it was. How we missed it before I have no idea. Log book full, squeezed initials in by another log. TFTC

30-Jun-24
Set out today for a goal of 1000 caches. Headed off from Rotorua detouring around seeing where we end up, appreciate the cache! Full log book here.

30-Jun-24
A random caching mission, lets try to eliminate Te Awamutu. Log book could do with replacing

29-Jun-24
We ended up here while completing the 1863 Waikato War multi which started in Pokeno and bought us here, among many of other places. We decided Matariki long weekend was a great opportunity for a road trip and a history lesson for our three boys. Seeing as we were very close by we decided to grab this traditional while in the vicinity. Took a few minutes to locate, bu it was raining so luckily there were not many muggles about. TFTF.

Aunt Fanny was under the weather and there was nothing in the larder so we headed out at dawn to enjoy breakfast at the local tea rooms only to find they were yet to open. So an early morning adventure was immediately on the cards.Hoorah! It was jolly chilly this morning but we didn't allow this to besmirch our progress as we knew it would be a jolly smashing experience and as the sun rose we headed into the unknown. After arriving at the church we began a game of round and round the mulburry bush but our valiant attempts were dashed and we couldn't locate this most tricky and challenging cache. What a conundrum. Our heads were deeply entombed in the foliage and any passers by must have thought we were barmy but it was not in vain and all of a sudden our frowns turned to a jovial cheer as the little blighter was spotted.A hearty cheer and and many moments of congratulations and frolicking followed. What a way to build up an appetite. We headed over to the tea rooms with a spring in our steps and thoughts of a hearty breakfast to warm our cockles. Not to mention the excitement of continuing our adventure afterwards. Many thanks for a most spiffing start to our day.

We are back in New Zealand to have the holiday we should have had 4 years ago, Covid-19 put an abrupt end to that holiday.Today we are on a visit to Te Awamutu.Greetings from the UK.As an Ad Lab stage was also at this location it would have been rude not to have a look for the cache. We noted that there are a couple of DNF's against this cache but we had a look anyway. Sue took one side and I took the other. I came up trumps finding this well blended in cache. The logbook is ful but I mnaged to squeeze a signature in. I will contact the CO about the log book. Many thanks to GlennandMagsPhillip for placing

We were 4 going adventuring around Waipa and enjoying ourselves. I wondered what people thought about the four of us when they saw us sticking our heads in the bush.Day 2 of The Wellington Anniversary Weekend tour with Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, TwigNZ. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, puzzles we have solved and ones with a D/T of 2.5+/2.5+ for the [GC30AD8](http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC30AD8) DGSC Challenge (West Coast) challenge. Of course, there will be days of laughter, no doubt at my expense ??????.During our time here, all found caches were signed as MINT, regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us have found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache GlennandMagsPhilip.

20-Jan-24
Team MINT (Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B & TwigNZ) is up in the central north exploring. Our wanderings included coming thru Te Awamatu today. Small wander around town included this one. TFTC

(# 8633) As it is a long weekend in Wellington I took a caching jaunt up to the Waikato and Bay of Plenty with TwigNZ, NZ_B and Itchyfeet2020. Stayed in Tokoroa which was the centre of the caching universe for this weekend. Day 2 was going to Te Awamutu, Mt Pirongia and Hamilton. We found the hiding place but it took a little bit of putting our heads into the bush to locate the container.Logs were either signed MINT (being our initials) or Mr-Mcgoo.Thanks GlennandMagsPhilip for bringing me here.

20-Jan-24
Having taken yesterday off as leave, and with Monday being Wellington Anniversary, I am making the most of a 4-day weekend by spending it with friends in the Waikato in order to try to target a few specific caches up here and otherwise boost my numbers for January. Our crew consists of Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B and myself TwigNZ, and so to save space on logs we simply signed our finds today with either MINT or Team MINT depending on log size.Today involved a great deal of driving to a lot of beautiful places which make me want to come back and spend a lot more time at. One of the joys of geocaching for me is that I get to see places that I wouldn't have thought to visit otherwise, but often you just get a 'taste' of a place because you're rushing off to get another cache somewhere. That was the case a couple of years ago when I came to Te Awamutu whilst looking for PWGT caches. Here I am again, but this time with friends. We stopped here today for them to do some of the caches that I'd done previously, but there were a few like this one that we all wanted.Mr-Mcgoo made the find here, with the 4 of us all sticking our heads into the bush. No issues to report, and the log soon had our team name added to it before the whole thing was replaced as found. Thanks for setting this one up.

19-Jan-24
Didnt find it and the person I was searching for it gave up at looked at the graves

3 weeks (adventure) vacation in New Zealand ???????? for dschinny and me. We are very excited about what awaits us, what we will experience and simply are looking forward to a wonderful time together in this beautiful country ?? We will spend 1.5 weeks on the North Island and the rest of the time on the South Island. Today weve visited Waitomo Caves via Black Labyrinth Tour - Black Water Rafting - such a great adventure - wow! We had lots of fun and the caves a truly a must visit while staying in New Zealand. After discovering the cave and its glowworms we drove to Rotorua, our next stop for the next 2 days.On our way we also made some stops for some caches - like this cache. It took some time but finally we could find the well hidden cache container. Thanks a lot for this cache and many greetings from two German GC-crazy New Zealand vacationers ???? zh9 ??

Day 17: Farewell to TaranakiTodays trip was the journey back to Auckland from New Plymouth, along SH 3 and SH 1, picking up whatever caches that was convenient along the very long drive back. There were a few fun finds (especially around Piopio and interesting stops in small towns that we would have other missed on the road back. Thanks for all the fun!(End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache: Picked up this one after spending a lot of time looking like a madman in front of the church. Caches in such places are always a bit of a challenge and this was no different. But managed to get it in the end and signed in somehow in a very full logsheet. TFTC!

21-Mar-23
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.

With mostly very nice Cool weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed

We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared Wink
So this box was also well found.

now I have another Smile on my personal cache card.

many thanks to [^] **GlennandMagsPhilip** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

This was the toughest of the 5 caches I did this afternoon.
I was fortunate enough to arrive after church had finished, but still felt a little conspicuous here.
I knew where it would be, what it probably would look like etc, but it still took several attempts while in the area to finally spot it.
Thanks for the challenging cache

15-Feb-23
TFTC but a bit exposed where I came across it. Possibly from the recent cyclone.
Not far from a mark of one of the 'rival' hobbies

08-Feb-23

19-Jan-23
Up from Southland with Cantabrian Kiwicampnut to get the final piece of the PWGT puzzle.
Day 2 - Hamilton to Te Awamutu... via the scenic route!

We were here collecting info and tried for this one.
It sounds (and looks from the satellite version of the map) like the original location had a prune to below GL and its been relocated.

Or maybe our brains are fried after caching all day in the heat and probably not drinking enough. Looked 3 times between waypoints for PWGT1 caches and adlab locations.

15-Apr-22
We were in this area to do the PWGT cache and the adventure lab cache, while I went to do that gk made us some lunch. It was while eating lunch and looking at my phone I realised I had been within about a meter of this traitional. So once I had eaten lunch I popped back across the road and made an instant find on this one. I took it a few meters away to open and while doing so a couple of people approached and started looking at the headstones nearby. I did wonder how long it would be before I could return it, but as it turned out it was only a few minutes.

We are in the North Island to try to complete the PWGT Tahi section so we are having to head to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on.

With the new souvenir challenge we need to use the app to log the finds, but as I like to waffle on and write my stories on my laptop I am writing these while back at the campervan.

Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

24-Jan-22
#10,771. The plan today is to do a series of geotour caches around the Waikato before returning to Auckland and dropping off Infoferret for her flight back to Wellington. We are also doing a few adventure labs today. We were at this church earlier doing the PWGT multicache but neither of us checked to see if any other caches were present here. Over lunch IF spotted that we had overlooked this one so decided to drive back here and pick it up while doing the Adventure lab. I was looking on one side of the shrub and IF was on the other side. She found it. Signed the logbook and returned the container where found. Thanks GlennandMagsPhilip for hiding it here.

24-Jan-22
24 January 2022 13:26. Should have checked more thoroughly when we were here earlier getting info for the PWGT multi, so we had to come back for this one!

By this time it had started to rain, so I was grateful to look from just the right angle to spot this one. TFTC GlennandMagsPhilip.

For some reason this kept taking me to an object that was obviously wrong so I spread out to look further and assumed the word shoulder was missing from the clue because once looking in the right space I quickly spotted the cache for a quick grab.
