Travelling with iluvtrekking from our home state of WA on a SA caching foray. Staying in Millicent for a few days to grab some finds placed for the ill fated Mega because of Covid. Thanks for the hide. LNCU
Travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching road trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are staying at Millicent for the week, finding some of the caches we should have found if we had not been prevented from attending the 2020 Mega by Covid19. Thanks for the cache. LNCU.
23/09/2023 4:23:00 PMA big day out across the border with 38 finds, 1 DNF, and another 6 logs signed on challenges I don't yet qualify for. All caches were in good order and specifically noted otherwise.Thank you to all the COs that helped make this happen.Find recorded using GCDroid and logged using GSAK
Accompanied with crank1, we enjoyed the trip and detour find it and sign the log. Thanks for the cache and hunt.
Stay at Millicent for a few days with Everlasting and Found the cache and logged the log with Everlasting GeocachingSA, Thank you so much for placing it.
30,943. Found with minniek, albida33, Sol de lune, smittengranny (signing either as FAMSS or MAFSS to save room and just for fun). After the hordes around Rutherglen it was good to drop down to a group of 5.
Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 10. Today was another great day for our little group - the last day the 5 of us will cache together for a while - caching around the Millicent region. We finished up chasing higher D/T caches, as well as some great forest drives and other caches along the way. Awesome. Quick find once at GZ. Signed, replaced, then we headed off to the next one.
Thanks GeoVenture2020 !!

Day 10 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Today fitzy_1965 and I again joined albida, Sol de lune & smittengranny. We signed as MAFSS to save room. Some of us may have rebelled and signed FAMSS instead.
We started the morning later than normal as we caught up with a couple of local cachers. Was great to share a cuppa with hevwalker and scramping! But all too soon we had to get going.
Our aim was to clear out as many caches between Millicent and Tantanoola. All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 11. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 5. Today was the last day with our team all together Fitzy_1965, Albida33, MinnieK, Sole de Lune & Smitten Granny and logs were signed as FAMSS or similar. We went to the south of Millicent to target some high D/T caches and some interesting clusters of caches on forests. After a wet few days, the weather was much better and we had a great time. We ended the day with a meal together in one of the Millicent Hotels and a cache just outside the door of the pub.
Thanks for the cache GeocachingSA

Day 3 of the 5 amigos caching in this area. A much more relaxed start to the day - it was agreed on 9 am as some of the group were catching up with a couple of local geobuddies.
Today we were targeting caches in Tantanoola so we gathered some high D/T caches and some that filled a calendar for some. This was one of the caches we found and our initials were added to the log. As "we" included minniek, Albida33, Fitzy_1965, Sol de Lune and myself Smittengranny logs were signed as MAFSS or FAMSS

After the Rutherglen mega, fitzy_1965, albida33, minniek, Smittengranny and myself headed to the Mount Gambier / Millicent region to tackle some of the caches from the Millicent mega that we couldn't get to.
Now onto day 3 of our run around the area and we started the day with a trip to Tantanoola, finding caches along the way, in town and then around the forests and back roads.
Many thanks to all the CO's for the caches and for the fun we had finding them.

What a nice little series. I will never be accused of speaking that fast but there are plenty that do. TFTC GeoVenture2020, they are all in good shape atm.
This was the Suscoes final full day of caching in Millicent and in the surrounding areas for this trip.
We were with our good friends Phetlern again and we had another terrific day out finding a range of caches in all sorts of locations.
It was a foggy start to the day but it lightened as the day progressed and ended up a quite pleasant Winter's day with sunshine and no wind.

A somewhat foggy start to our final day based in Millicent, with our caching buddies, Suscoe. As the fog cleared and the sun actually became warm, we had a fun day finding a variety of caches, trads, multis and pre solved puzzles.
(Stands out a mile)
Thanks GeocachingSA for placing caches in interesting locations.

We found this cache today on our Millicent Meander - Day 1 in company of Maccamob, BecknMonts, McLookers, Alansee, and Muzza. Now in and around Tantanoola. Thanks from D & HA B-A
Over in SA again with a cut down group of geocaches compared to last time. We felt it was time this group of Victorians found some Millicent caches, as we were banned from the mega! We are signing the logs as Vic1. Thanks for the sometimes challenging caches GeoVenture2020!
Found with a team consisting of BecknMonts, McLookers, Maccamob, Rabbitto, and Muzza. The day turned out to be better than expected and the caching was good too. Many thanks to the CO's for the placements.

Found by Mary and David, in company with McLookers, beckNmonts, Alansee, muzza, and Rabbitto (signing as VIC1), at at 15:59. This trip was planned to tackle the many caches around Millicent as we'd been locked down last year and unable to attend GV2020. Our thanks to GeocachingSA.
In the Millicent area for a few days, we are signing the logs as Vic1. Thanks for placing the cache GeoVenture2020.
We stayed in Millicent last night hoping to grab a few of the SFE Challenge cache series this morning and then depending on how much time this took we wanted to grab the labs in Tantanoola and Penola and anything else that popped up along the way, weather permitting.
We didn't have that many miles left to get to Penola and the drizzling rain had eased off a bit so we headed up the track a mile or two to do a u-turn and come back to see if we could turn these "Mile" caches into "Smile" caches. We had quite a good run with all bar one found quickly and we were now "Miles" in front of our estimated time of finishing.
We're glad that we didn't have to walk a million miles to get these smiles.
Many thanks GeoVenture for the caches, we had miles of fun.

Day 4 of a short stay in Millicent.
Found while caching with Gwen from The X-Trailers
We were on our way to walk the Honan Mint Trail when I asked Gwen if she had found Syncing David. She had but commented there were more here that were unfounds. Chucked a u-ee and found them as we headed up the hill.
All caches along Mile Hill were found and in good condition.
Just missing earthlight who couldn't be with us this trip

Monday. I managed to get tuesday of work so today was just about getting as many caches on or near the highway between Mount Gambier and Millicent before the Farewell, Until We Meet Again ??? event. then heading in to the forests again and doing the series put out by witchwayz Colour by Song, STCL (Sadie The Cleaning Lady), This One Is For.... plus what ever other caches where near them. Then finishing the day off with a nice wood oven pizza and of course a few lab caches in mount gambier.
SA Mega weekend with sir_spectre, a huge weekend of catchups and hunting geocaches. At different times over the 5 day weekend we joined up with other teams caching as either the misfits or mystery randoms depending on the numbers of people and who organised.
Unfortunately the weather was very typical of the south east and put many teams off exporing the forests and some great creative caches were only found by a few teams.
For me this was a little bit different than for others as I lived in the south east for 15 years and worked in Penola, Millicent and Mount Gambier. Strangely this also meant I kept running into people I knew each day.
Lots of wildlife seen, wombats, echidnas, snakes, kangaroos and wallabies. Luckily the snakes in particular kept leaving the paths as we were walking.
Thanks to the Mega committee for all of their hardwork organising and the many locals who have placed and maintained caches (this includes me )
Thanks to GeoVenture2020 from mogni

The great Geoventure 2020 tour....take 2...which is of course now in 2021 Once again it myself and AnyMules doing things that not many sane people would attempt. [:o)]
Day 7: Time to say goodbye to a lot of friend heading home. But there was sunshine so we changed cars and went for a drive in the car that had a kayak and a 6.4 metre ladder. We tackled some UNAL caches before the weather turned to very windy and raining again and it was too risky to be high in trees or out on the water. [:(!] So we went back to the digs and had lunch.
The sun came out after lunch so off we went again in search of unfound caches in the forests.
* If anything was particularly interesting then there will be a comment
Here.. Found it!
otherwise we found all the caches we looked for and they were in good condition.
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers from over fifty to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks GeoVenture2020 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

Day 1 of the Mega weekend. Stayed in Robe overnight and was raring to go. A new lab cache series in Beachport meant a detour there before starting the cray fish. The weather was nice to begin with but then turned Millicent with grey dreary drizzle. Did a multi in Rendlesham where I saw the Misfits drive out from the crayfish they had sone them all before I even started ????.
The long wet grass and grey day made for a hard slog on the crayfish. Had to keep wringing out my socks. Lunch was eaten by 9.30am oops. Had a break at real lunch time and went to mega central which was very quiet but managed to do the 30 labs in town and find a couple of local caches and rectify an 8 year dnf. Back to the crayfish and finally they were all done - yay! That was a long hard slog.
Saw lots of interesting wildlife birds and lots of young beasties. Thankfully no snakes in fact prefer grey dreariness to snakes.
Then headed home via a few more caches and a few dnf at Glencoe.
An excellent first day at the Mega. Back to the farm to eat pizza and drink beers.

With border restrictions and cases coming close to Portland we weren't sure we were going to make it to Millicent. Then the house sitter said they weren't available so once the border approvals came through it was decided that Mr Morris would nurture the dog and Lady Morris would do the border run.

Beta tester here. The mile, sometimes the international mile or statute mile to distinguish it from other miles, is a British imperial unit and US customary unit of distance; both are based on the older English unit of length equal to 5,280 English feet, or 1,760 yards. The statute mile was standardised between the British Commonwealth and the United States by an international agreement in 1959, when it was formally redefined with respect to SI units as exactly 1,609.344 metres.
