Words to describe this afternoon include idyllic, glorious and joyful. It started with a late minute suggestion to [@Snips and Co](https://coord.info/PR2TFBV) to take my brand new click-in-half red kayak (named after the sagacious, smart and loyal Donna from Suits) on her maiden voyage. The plan was to 'duck out for a cache' or four... now it isn't to say everything went to plan... there may have been some uncertainty if we were meeting at Lillydale or Lysterfield.. well they both sound lovely, have a lake and start with L... but all the worries eased when we realised 'we were not in Kansas anymore'.. there is free car parking, a boat ramp and Donna was assembled in 10 seconds flat, not to mention the beautiful sunshine - oh my!The paddle across had many an obstacle with the local scout group teaching the girls how to capsize canoes and rescue each other... the Donna just watched with amusement and thank goodness stayed afloat. We took a few attempts to make landing near GZ and after a bit of a scramble through the bush that was completely unnecessary if we moored in a different spot, there was a squawk of delight to find this cache. We rapidly descended into laughter when we realised that I was in the complete opposite of duck hunting camouflaged attire, being dressed in my luminescent bright watermelon red shirt and the nearby paddlers were waving at us.The hilarity continued as I had the silly notion to try to stay dry and walk the branch peter pan plank style to re-board Donna and subsequently ended up facing backwards with Donna wedged under a tree... where were those scouts when I needed them?!Thanks iTEEM for the quacker of a cache

On a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon, KirstysAdventures wanted to christen Donna, her new fancy snap-in-half kayak. Where else would be better than a small lake with 4 T5's (boat required) caches in it!This place is great easy to park, easy to launch, easy to paddle and all that on a hot Sunday afternoon. We took a few tries to approach this from the right angle and at last we were parallel to the shoreline. Even though the muddy banks did not look inviting at, all both Kristy's Adventures and I found suitable spots to disembark. Trudging through the brush we had an inkling as to what we were looking for, and being an ITEEM cache we were hoping for more than a Sistema. We were not let down! What a fantastic cache so creative. We both had a giggle and honestly, ITEEM, if I wasn't about to run out of fav points (which I am saving for another one of yours) I would give this one a fav too. Thanks for the cache and the fun ITEEM!

I had an enjoyable day meeting up with fellow hunters: Boss Connor, Burnieh, and Raffbrad. The four of us set out on a kayaking expedition to explore and hunt for waterline caches at Lilydale Lake. The experience was truly exhilarating as we navigated the waters, exchanging stories and strategies. Together, we successfully located hidden caches along the lake's shoreline. This particular cache maintained the high standard I've come to expect from Iteem. As always, Mr. Perfection delivered with a cleverly camouflaged container housed in an excellent structure. Iteem's attention to detail and creativity shone through, making this cache yet another brilliant addition to our geocaching adventures. Many thanks to Iteem for consistently exceeding expectations!

Geocaching get together at the lake, perfect time to get these water caches that have mocked me for too long. Out on the water with JuzzMagic, RaphBrad, and Berney. Thanks, was great fun

A huge thank-you to Crustyvarmint for organising a little get together at the Lilydale Lake this evening, and for the loan of his kayak. You are a legend! This one required a bit of thought to navigate the correct entry to GZ. Once there the cache name proved apt. Great container as always iTEEM.Joining me on the adventure was Juzz Magic, Boss Connor and Bernie H. . Signed as JMBHBCRB.

Cache found and log signed with dalerious Razz. Two little ducks went out one day,In a vinyl dinghy, they went out to play.Catduck went quack, quack, quack, quack,And dalerious ducked out and brought the cache back.Loved the hide. Thanks iTEEM for a fun day out.The weather was going to turn for the worst, plenty of rain forecast for Sunday onwards, so we hatched a plan to head to Lilydale Saturday and tick off some caches that would hopefully get us closer to achieving our Challenge cache goals Big Grin.We didn't leave home as early as we would have liked. Chores that had to be undertaken on Friday were delayed due to equipment inadequacies and the like, which made the task a drawn out affair, which dalerious had to endure on his own, due to my continual recovery.Getting to Lillydale Lake late, say that 3 times fast after a few beers, as it was already late morning, and the heat and humidity was oppressive. We brought the dinghy with us, as it was too late to load the kayaks either last night or this morning. So we embarked on our second voyage with her Big Grin. The lake isn't tiny, and to be truthful, I had doubts that we were going to complete the full course Wink. But it is amazing how well that craft, even with 2 of us on board, moves through the water Big Grin. The job done, and not a minute too soon, as the outer capsule of our craft looked decidedly void of air.We were close to shore when we were asked by some young boys to try to locate their soccer ball that they had inadvertently kicked into the water, and was taken away by the breeze. That retrieval complete, we disembarked out of our "teabag", as dalerious has now christened her, to the cheers of the young lads who belonged to the ball we saved from a drowning death.A job well done, in conditions not suited to this feline. In the water I am like Trim, but in the heat I am like a sail without the wind; doldrums Sad.

Very, very clever. This is one cache we are very glad we managed to duck out for, and gets a fav from me.Big GrinPaddling from the South, this was the 3rd cache of the day with catnap 777 and our mighty blow up T5mobile. Big GrinWe got them all before running out of air. TwistedPaddling back to the boat ramp, we noticed that even though our pride was inflated by our T5 victories, our little dinghy......not so much. Red FaceWe made it to our destination, but with not so much air to spare. Razz TFTCs and the adventure iTEEM. Big Grin

It was a beautiful day for kayaking with crank1. It took us a while to find this cache. iTEEM, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area. A favourite point from me is a creative cache

Pwala and I had a great time kayaking around Lilydale Lake today. We had such beautiful weather and it was a bit hot. Found it. fav from meITEEM, thank you so much for placing the cache.

Was tricky to get too bashing every thing in sights not the best with a blow up paddle board but glad to sign this one off.

Papi4506 and myself met OHC here so that we could do the caches on the lake. OHC had already done them but still kindly offered to go for the paddle with us. This was a cleverly constructed cute cache. Thanks for giving me a reason to get the yak out again for this cache.

05-Dec-23
OHC invited GT37 and myself do these caches, even though she had already found them all. Today was perfect weather to do so. We met the CO here and this cache was replaced whilst we were there. When we realised where we were heading, GT and I were hoping that it wasn't as hard to access as the previous cache that was here. Gratefully, it was a nice easy approach and the cute cache was found with no problems. Thanks for placing the cache and bringing us here.

24-Nov-23
It was my birthday recently and the family bought me a kayak so now I can do lots of T5 caches. Today was my maiden voyage. I pumped up my inflatable kayak, donned my life jacket and launched at the boat ramp. Thanks to a very accurate hint the cache was located and the logbook was signed. I loved the themed cache container. Thank you iTEEM for placing and maintaining Duck Out For A Cache for us to find today.

08-Nov-23
We had just returned from a long weekend away camping and yakking, and had a couple of hours to spare before heading out for a birthday dinner, so decided, as the yaks and sundry were still on board, to come on down to a very busy lake for a lovely paddle to find some caches, followed by a well-earned gelati courtesy of Mr Whippy.I remember the original cache in this position and we had come in from the west. Today, we approached from the much easier east. Although there doesnt seem to be anywhere near the same amount of reeds. A cute cache sitting safely at gz.Thanks for bringing us here by placing this cache, iTEEM ~~

It was super long weekend time! The forecast was for cracking weather and a group of us were all set up along the Delatite Arm on Lake Eildon. Unfortunately the weekend had come to an end and it was time to journey home.Part way home I received a call from OzHockeyChick. She still had the kayaks on the roof from the weekends adventures and since it was her birthday suggested we go find a few extra water caches. Sounded like a good idea to me, so I diverted my journey for another paddle adventure. These caches have been on my todo list for some time, and with a need for a few higher terrain caches to nudge my average T rating (for a challenge), these were a perfect target.OzHockeyChick recalled that there had been an archived cache here previously and that it had been a pain to access. Fortunately today we used the lessons of the past to access it from a different direction, albeit with less resistance than may have previously existed. Thanks iTEEM for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy. It was a great day out!----------------------------------------------------------Have you found all of the 12 Days of Cachemas series? Out and about with My good caching mate Omegaman1971, there are always plenty of laughs while we are turning caches into smiles. This is one of the caches found today. We had planned to have a paddle for the last few weeks but it was a matter of weather and us all being able to make it, as I am unable to paddle I sat in the front of the omegamans two man canoe as he paddled us out and Tiz paddled out in her blow up canoe. Thanks iTEEM for the cache. Was good to catch up for five at school.Quack Quack

The suns back out in Melbourne, so Rebel Acts, Omegaman, and I have escaped to make the most of the day and the weather and to indulge in some caching shenanigans This was one of the caches we found today after blowing up the inflatable kayaks with a leaf blower. This cache and the others on Lilydale Lake have been on the wish list for some time. I'm very happy to add a smile here. Their was a lot of tree hugging to grab this cache as I tried to balance and not to capsize... ended up only a little bit wet, only a little bit dirty, and only a little bit sunburnt

It's also a relief to finally cross this cache off our to-do list.I couldn't help but feel a tinge of nervous excitement as I prepared to embark on this kayak journey with Rebel. It was my maiden voyage with the second seat, and the thought of us ending up in the water crossed my mind. However, we skillfully navigated the waters, and though we didn't escape without a few splashes, it was all part of the memorable experience. Cheers for the cache iTEEM

Cool little find

We had planned a geocaching day but weather gods hit us with a total fire ban day so Kashbound came up with Lilydale Lake as it certainly didn’t matter if we got wet (which we did). We loaded up the yak and the sup and off we went. Wind was mild initially but picked up a little making my sup hard going. But the sup is light and easily manoeuvred - well for most of the part along with some grunting and pulling at times and able to be manoeuvred in to tight places . We had a blast. Perfect day. VERY GRATEFUL TO iTEEM for placing these geocaches for us all to enjoy - particularly on days like today. Also love extra effort to provide a cache that makes you smile when you find it. I also know why ducks quack a lot as extra grunting means extra strength - those reeds! But there is an easy way - which as usual we found on way out
Thanks again iTEEM

Impromptu catch up with friends with Paddling and MTB on Australia Day. We had done the previous caches here. After a bit of pushing through the reeds, my geoson located and signed the cache log. The container was an awesome creation. Fav point.

Awesome find, on a beautiful day in late November!

The sun was shining, the birds were singing and the Joey Scouts from 1st Croydon Hills were coming canoeing on the lake later in the evening.

As the designated trailer driver, I picked up the canoes early in the afternoon and headed down for a relaxing paddle on the water.

The cache took longer than expected, but was well worth the wait! Between some dodgy GPS directions, along with killer head height branches, this was an adventure for sure! Number 2 for my on water adventure was secured!

I’ve been wanting to score these for a while now, and today was the day.

TFTC, all in perfect condition with one extremely happy cacher here!!

After the recent flooding, it appears the cache has been submerged for a bit. Cache has been removed for a clean up and dry out, and some resealing.

Found on 20/3/22 but forgot to log. A difficult cache to get to but rewarding once found! Love the shape of the cache

Beautiful day for a paddle.
Reattached the detached piece as noted by previous finder.
Reset cache up the right way.
It makes no difference to the cache integrity if it's upside down, but slightly undignified

After a short paddle to the island we got near to Gz. It was hard to manouvre around Gz. While I was looking at one spot Quiet1_au found the cache further on. Great container. Thanks iTEEM

20-Apr-22
It's been quite a few years since I last visited this lake geocaching so when G of GJMMelb mentioned he needed to do some T5 kayaking caches and suggested here I was glad to see the old caches have been replaced with some new ones to make a revisit worthwhile. After a non T5 cache nearby we headed across to locate this one which took us a little while as we had misidentified the hinted object. So while G' tried one spot I paddled around to another, initially just to make room then later when we had found nothing to check out a different spot. Ah ha! Cute cache retrieved (one piece has popped loose but isn't a problem) the logbook slipped inside so took a bit to extract it again but logbook signed and all replaced it was off to the next island hide. TFTC and a favourite point for the creative container Smile

Lucky ducky Yakkity yak yak - after all these 'looking at it wistfully times' and wishing I had a yak yak, very happy to launch the boat and head over to explore. My arms reminded me I've already had a few kms on the Yarra this am, so I took a beeline to the cache for a quick quick find due to good clue and a fun little container. Thanks for the cache, the in the burbs 'micro adventure' and the fun.

Not for the first, or probably the last time, I jumped into the cabin of a truck because someone knocked off work early and just happened to be passing by. And what to do on a fine Autumn evening? Why, see if we could pick up a couple of Terrain 5 caches, of course.

Which is how two fools found themselves in a nylex Canadian out on a lake in Lilydale.

With a smiley under our belts, off we paddled to the next island, where it took a couple of goes to find the way through the maze towards that set of coordinates.

Now, here's where the extra buoyancy might have been handy, as our combined displacement meant we couldn't quite get to where we needed to be. But I found a way. Which meant n0w0rries could prove our theory as well.

Thanks, iTEEM... love this novel container.

And so, reunited, with the cache signed and back in its very neat holder, we paddled our way back to the boat ramp in the fading light, where I'd like to say we alighted with more grace than we'd launched with, but I'd probably be lying.

It took me a little while to find the access to this cache, there's a small opening between the reeds and the island on the lakes park side. (East)
Once in I navigated a few obstacles and the hunt began......at the wrong spot. Ignore the first LARGE stump you come across, further on there is a smaller "stump" sticking out of the water, this is the right spot.
Once here I noticed the cache peeking out at me.

Thanks for a great cache in a lovely spot.

See Capsize or Glory log for the first part of our T5 Thursday adventure...

... where we made a few tactical errors.
Trial and error seemed to be the best solution and eventually we were within 4 metres of ground zero. A few different approaches were tried until, once again, nirgalagrin came up with the good.
A twilight paddle back to the boat ramp. Packed up and headed for home, happy. Big Grin

Thank you for the opportunity to return to Lillydale Lake and also for the caches iTEEM.

That was an adventure!

Have been saving these T5 caches to fill certain days of week / months of the year for various challenges.

I first looked at this island last June, but as another cacher knows I found the water a little frigid and chickened out), but was cheered by the beautiful weather today into making an attempt.

An inauspicious start as I was greeted by not 1 but 2 separate Outdoor Ed classes having a wonderful time on their yaks. Nothing for it but to spread out and have a quick Kip while I waited for the splashing and dunking to stop, and the groups to head back into shore.

Eventually the coast was clear and I sloshed / splashed my way to the island, hoping to find the neighbouring cache. But an extreme case of cache-blindness had me up the creek without the proverbial paddle, and I wasn’t heading back to shore without a smiley. So I trudged overland to this side of the island, followed the hint, headed a little clockwise of the first stump and discovered a very well-constructed cache. Thanks heaps for a fun although unexpected find.

We arrived to a fairly still lake this morning, perfect for a paddle in our inflatable kayak. We were a little concerned at some sticks and lumpy bits underneath us as we slowly navigated obstacles. It was a relief to find what we came for, and a very creative cache at that. Thanks so much for our kayaking adventure. A favourite point from us.

Woohoo - my second T5 ever, and in the same day! Now that I have my budget kit of a surfmat, water shoes, waterproof phone the opportunities have opened up!

Beautiful to be out on the lake. Ducks, swamp hens and cormorants everywhere.

Initially I wasn’t seeing anything, then realised I was at the wrong stump and headed further in, my mat scraping slightly in the shallows. Once at the real GZ I quickly spotted the beautiful container. Fave.

Thanks iTEEM for the adventure. It’s been a while since we got the Yak out, so little miss 13 and I went for a paddle and put some smiley faces on the map. I remembered many years ago finding the original island caches here, seems like forever ago now. A beautiful day and the lake was link a mill pond, which is no surprise given the mill ruins on the edge of the water. Thanks for the fun. Fav for the cache construction!

01-Jan-22
After staying inside during the heat of the day, I took the kayak for a paddle on the lake this evening. Last time we were here, I left this cache unsigned as I knew I needed a T5 in January, for a challenge I am working on.
Thanks for placing these caches iTEEM. You do some interesting stuff.

18-Dec-21
I promised I would take the youngest paddling and with the weather holding this morning we headed to Lilydale Lake. After a fun paddle around I then headed off to look for these new caches. It took me a bit of time to work out my route to this but once there I saw this lovely constructed cache. Gets a FP from me. Had to battle some stronger winds on the way back to firmer land. Found at 1:16 pm.
Fleabag- was getting restless because we hadn't done a kayak cache for quite some time and the weather was magic today so we headed out here and then later onto Lysterfield lake just to make sure there was plenty of paddling and very tired arms tomorrow. With a couple of new caches here we setup the extra long 3 person kayak and headed off.
Quite a bit of manoeuvring to get in here with the mega kayak so I ended up getting out of the kayak to retrieve this one. It sure was worth it, really awesome construction. I love it, a favourite from me.
Thanks iTEEM for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Thinking today would not be as busy as the weather was not supposed to be great, we took the kaayak to the lake. Spiffy- met me there and so did many muggles. Soon had the kayak inflated and off we went. Made our way to GZ, but a few submerged branches made the last few meters hard. We spotted it, so Spiffy made the 1m walk in the mud to it. Really liked the effort on thecammo so it gets a favourite.

Great adventure. Thanks iTEEM

*Found on the 28 Nov 2021 @ 11:00 am.*
*Cache find # 12073.*

So the plan for today was to head out to Lilydale lake and find these new caches that had been place here but our plans got a little side tracked when while we were on our way some new caches were published which was good as we got to meet the iTEEM at the first one we went too.
I had found the original caches that were place here some time ago so it was great to see some new ones to go after.
This one had us thinking for a while on how to get into GZ to find the cache, coming around from the far side there was just a mass of reeds confronting us, eventually we went far enough passed the cache to find a passage back towards GZ.
This is certainly a very interesting cache container, well worth a favourite point.
There are a few more name in the logbook but obviously they are a bit slow to log it.

**Thanks to iTEEM for placing this cache.**

**Find #4790**
**Traditional Find #3000**

I headed out with Steve to Lilydale Lake with our kayaks to find the water caches there.
The weather was perfect all day. The second of the T5's we attempted in this lake. It took quite some time to find a way into GZ, but once there, Steve spotted the cache fairly quickly. We were surprised to see that we were only the second cachers to find this one. Here's hoping the warmer weather will encourage more people out here.

**Thank-you to iTEEM for placing this geocache**

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of the 3 kayaks
With caches to be found in the lake, it was time for an attack.
The skipper was a mighty sailing man, the seaman not too bad,
and accompanying them, a lieutenant who had the ability to command.

The boys, Crustyvarmint, Lynjon & Steve set sail on a beautiful calm evening. I was sidelined due to having a cortisone injection in my shoulder the previous day, so had to watch from the sidelines. Apparently they didn’t have any problems locating the cache, signed the log, then headed off to their next destination.

Thank you iTEEM for placing these new caches in this great location.

20-Nov-21
Out tonight with Crustyvarmint and Steve from Knight_Shift on late afternoon trip across Lillydale Lake to locate this cache. The water was calm and the breeze earlier in the day had dissipated. An uneventful paddle to the island an entry was found through the reeds and the cache located. Thanks to iTEEM for the cache and Knight_Shift for the loan of a kayak.

Spent so long here, expected that the Xmas eve had arrived.

It was not an easy find. Didn't just blame the weather. It was significantly hard.

On the trip here all the local 4WD were out in force. A delayed trip of more than 20mins endured. The 6 o'clock rush to the regions was imminent. Talkback radio was emphasising the looming rush.

After the treasure was secured, it was on like Donkey Kong.

Traffic jambs on every corner. Everybody in a hurry held up by all those contestants in the race. The bananas not familiar with the area didn't help.

But you have to be there to experience it. More than 90 minutes of experiencing it on the way home.

Don't want to be part of the chaotic pseudo Xmas eve race.

For our regional trip starts tomorrow at 5am. Xmas morning traffic is always so much quieter
