Three weeks on, it's time to say goodbye to this event, and look forwards to 2022.
A big ol' thank-you to everyone who came along to donate some time and energy to a cleaner world! And the helper organisations who supported the effort!

The CITO has come and gone. The piles of tyres created and bags filled. The rubbish removal has been done by council.
Going to disable to remove from the map and wait for any outstanding logs to come through. Thank you to all who attended and put in the hard work

Attended the event. Great day scouring the area for rubbish, collecting it...and some caches....and catching up with friends. Thanks for the event.
DisSister and The Marble kept me company on this CITO today, getting wet and muddy as a family . There was a great turnout today considering the time of year. We certainly had plenty to keep us busy here, with so many tyres, broken beer bottles, tyres, cigarette butts, tyres, pieces of metal and tyres! A great effort by everyone. Thanks for the watermelon and rum balls too! TFTC, Captain Terror =^.^=
Today, I started out with a visit to Tinchi Tamba wetlands, with the main objective of following a Wherigo waypoint, but it was also a good excuse to grab a new challenge cache.
After repositioning my vehicle, I headed out by bike along the Deagon Deviation Bikeway to grab a number of *Monster Lane* series geocaches, riding from Brighton Park to Bracken Ridge Road. It was then an opportunity to grab litter at the Brighton Park CITO event.
I closed out the day by driving around Newport as per the *Newport Canal* series. Unfortunately, the rain arrived in patches as I spent a few hours doing this series, in which I ended up opting for my Jeep over my planned bike ride around.
Unfortunately with the high winds today, the planned kayaking expedition fell through (although I only learned later that a few adventurous kayakers still went out). Nevertheless, I arrived and signed in, to grab my bag and head through the mangroves. I thought this was a great area to have a CITO, as there really was a lot of old rubbish that the mangroves absorbed and deposited in their mud flats. I also couldn't believe how many tyres could be hidden away, and it does bring sadness that others can just dump rubbish away and not care. Anyway, it was nice to do our part to close out 2021. Thanks Captain Terror for the CITO event organisation.

Well, well, well and YES! [^]
Things went VERY well!
While quite a few surPRIZES were handed out today (thank you Captain T ) I think the biggest SURPRISE was how many tyres & how much other assorted rubbish was collected by a very keen, very motivated, very committed (well, some of them should be ... committed that is! ) crew who, mostly, started early & finished late!
I arrived a little early to find parking at a premium & ALMOST had to abandon the Geo-Beast way back down yonder but for a timely departure from very close to GZ.
Looks like good luck is the order of the day!
Next I hit the CO up for a pristine collection bag which was destined to be despoiled very quickly indeed.
A great clean-up very well organised, implemented and attended.
Kudos Thomas, well deserved!
I decided I would do my best version of a rockhopper penguin & hit the rocky foreshores with a passion & the intent to do my bit, take one for team VC today!
It wasn't long before I was pleasantly surprised with the company of nikid1 and together we swept east collecting plastic bags, plastic plant pots, floats, tangled fishing line (hooks still attached ), myriad shapes and sizes of styrofoam, coffee cups, clear plastic containers, broken glass, bottles, aluminium cans, PPE masks , garbage bags, cigarette butts, paper and cardboard ... the list goes on!
A bitter sweet clean-up indeed with a sense of achievement all round but the underlying thought that this SHOULDN'T even be necessary haunting our every step! [:(!]
A novel could be written on the subject but suffice it to say "GREAT WORK EVERYONE on your efforts today!"
Nature, the planet & all those who care say THANK YOU to every one of you!
Once again it was great catching up with friends and acquaintances & putting faces to a few more names ... maybe we should get out more? [?]
A tasty treat of VEGAN watermelon was much appreciated & after a few happy snaps it was back to the Geo-Beast & on my merry way.

The final CITO event of the year! What a big turnout of like minded cachers. We made our way around collecting mostly glass from broken bottles, some broken roof tiles and a few other random bits and pieces of rubbish. Surprisingly was that huge pile of tyres, it was quite something to see, nice job. I would call this another successful clean up event.
Thanks for the CITO Captain Terror. I look forward to the next year of productive clean-ups.

After planning to do all 4 of Little Terror’s CITO’s when he announced his intentions, life got
In the way and I only managed this one, great location, great organisation and soooo many tyres. Watermelon was pretty perfect.

Dad said “try and get a joke in your log”, but I don’t know any good jokes about rubbish. They’re all garbage.
Was able to help clean a LOT of glass up from the mangroves. Found 2 caches afterwards with arewethere? after a walk along the mud. Thank you for organising this event Captain Terror, and thank you for the water bottle.

Managed a quick pedal before this one. Wandered around and managed to fill a bag, mostly with glass. Kudos to the tyre luggers. Impressive haul. Thanks for organising Captain Terror. [^]
It was totally unexpected for me to attend but I'm glad I did.
Another fabulous Cito location and execution!
Thanks

Last cache Event for 2021. So hopefully we made the world a better place after our efforts today. I focused on broken gall and was stunned at the amount of broken glass among the mangroves. I'll think about different footwear for any future kayaking adventures.
Today's CITO event provided just the motivation I needed to break my Xmas/New Year lethargy and get out of the house into the fresh air. After a short walk to a couple of caches around Mt Coot-tha I headed out to Bright and teamed up with JezNDez for a walk through the mangroves. Like many other logs reflect I focussed on the seemingly endless supply of broken glass littering the foreshore. As soon as I thought I had cleaned out a small section, a closer look revealed even more shards hidden away amongst the roots and leaf litter. So glad I was wearing my hiking boots out here today. Imagine the tonnes of glass that must be still out there if this short section of the shore is representative of the entire coastline.
Fun in the humidity gathering smelly stuff to protect the oceans
Thanks for today

Wow so much rubbish
I enjoyed cleaning all up
Make looks good
Thank you ????????

Great turnout and a pretty decent reclamation of junk. Enough tyres for more than 6 cars. Got to catch up with many friendly faces and grabbed the odd hint on some of the more devious hides around here. A big thanks to RoddyC for the heads up and Captain Terror for organising the CiTO and the Trackable
Awesome cito had lots of fun and feeling a bit tyred lol.
This is our 1000th cache and was a memorable cache to grab for this milestone.
Thanks for the cito

Thanks for putting on this event Captain Terror. It’s nice to see so much rubbish removed from the area. Thanks for the TB I’ll see if this one can last longer than my previous ones.
Thanks to Kez for the watermelon and rum balls -- yummo! Soo good!
Thank you sir Thomas for organising.
A great way to end a year that was certainly interesting.
So many tyres to make more minions out of (re minion madness)
And definitely filled the bulker bin bag.
I think Brisbane council will have a interesting shock when they collect this.
My pants and socks now smell like dead prawns
I managed to carry about 5 tyres, husband pulled majority of these out from the old pipe.
Brilliant event

Yessss that was a good CITO. 41 tyres, no longer leaching toxins into the beautiful bay. Bags and bags of rubbish collected. Rum balls and watermelon devoured. Really appreciated the company and the way these CITOs are organised - well done Captain! Also thanks to the weather gods for withholding the rain until we were all done, that was also appreciated.
Now, time for a really long hot shower to get this tyre grease off me. Pretty sure I'll sleep soundly tonight.

A last minute decision to do a bit of cito today.
Well timed with the tide and perfect weather for picking up random rubbish in the mangroves.
Thank you for arranging

After arriving early, I noticed a lot of cachers who had arrived even earlier! So we headed off to collect broken glass, tyres, bottles, thongs, etc and filled the 1 cbm rubbish bag.
We enjoyed the rumballs and watermelon and the chats we had.
Thanks for the Travel bug and the organising of the Cito, Captain Terror.

Attended this event this morning with Greatjustgreat. Upon arrival we picked up our collection bags and headed to the mangroves to the south of the GZ, moving back towards car park. Didn’t have to venture far to find a truckload of items. A lot of builders’ rubble, and plenty of bottles and broken glass. Always astounds me the amount of stuff people discard. Two bags full and a tyre tube in hand and it was back to GZ to add to the pile.
Good to catch up with other cachers and view the impressive combined haul.
After the event we were able to successfully squeeze in the two nearby caches and we were on our way.
Thanks very much Captain Terror for another extremely well organised and well attended event. A great way to wrap up the caching year. Cheers

A great CITO today, though I expected nothing less when Captain Terror was involved. Excellent turn out and good to catch up with people. TFTC
Finally made to one of the Quarterly clean ups organised by the captain! With big winds predicted, the paddle component was cancelled but there was plenty on land to be collected. I filled this bag and could’ve done another, I’m sad to say. Pretty impressed by the turn out today and the amount of tyres that were pulled out of the mangroves. We’ll done geocachers ????
TFTCE smile 10704 ?? out and about with miss millie geo dog ?? meet up with Hatzofff ?? RoddyC ?? plenty of rubbish at the end good job everyone, ????managed a couple of caches on the way home great day ,good weather ??Captain Terror tried to entice miss millie into a rubbish bag she stuck to her guns and said now way there is no food in that bag
Thank you, Captain Terror, for placing this cache for our enjoyment. ????

Yeah, I hurt too.
It was at an unrelated clean-up event in this park just a few weeks ago, that I decided it needed a land-based, geocacher-powered CITO. This will fit in nicely for the Q4 clean-up! Quickly, I contacted council for the green light and got the listing listed.
My big target for the day was a collection of about 30 tyres down the beach about a hundred metres. But also, all of the mangroves south of GZ were an unknown quantity, but likely a goldmine for marine debris. In all honesty, in this lost week of the year, I expected a smaller turn-out. And consequently, a smaller haul than usual. I would be proven very wrong!
Groups arrived early and wasted no time grabbing a bag and setting off for their mission: whether it was mangrove diving, tyre hunting, plucking bits out of the rock wall, or something different. I am just thrilled that folks willingly want to pick up rubbish in the middle of the day in the middle of summer for nothing in return but a hearty thumbs-up and warm+fuzzies!
After some 45 minutes, the rubbish started coming back, and the tyres began piling up. I needn't've doubted geocachers' ability to find enough rubbish to fill the bulk bag. But I was astounded as the third, fourth and fifth piles of tyres were stacked up. Outside of a Bob Jane, I've never seen so many tyres in one place. How excellent that they're no longer in the environment!
Never am I not impressed at how much a reasonably small group can collect in a reasonably small time frame. A lot of junk that won't end up in (or re-enter) the waterway and that makes my little heart feel all warm.
Prizes were handed out, the group photo snapped and that was the end of this CITO. I tried to chat to as many folks as possible, but I always seem so busy between saying hello, emptying bags, and sending folks on their merry cleaning way. The promise of a BBQ was fulfilled, but by the time I was eating, it was long after the event and just my dad and I left. He suggested we attack another area of mangroves again, and another hour or so, we'd added to the pile by a few bags.
There's never too many honest clean-ups in the world, and already this year. I estimate, tyres included a tonne of rubbish was removed today. I'm excitedby the success and wonder if maybe I should look at a Q1 2022 CITO? Thank you all who attended, gave some time, sweat and passion to this CITO

Thanks Thomas for getting so many people together to do a sweep of some of the rubbish in the area. The amount of broken beer bottles that we were extracting was disappointing to see, The site is so much cleaner for our efforts.
My shift at work got cancelled so now I’m free to come and pick up some rubbish! See you there!
Hope to get there in time (if Uwe's Doctor is sticking to the booked appointment time, it shouldn't be a problem).

it is in the diary, so with regular reminders I may remember to be at this one. i will be a roadside warrior and leave the more adventurous terrain to the uninjured ones out there.
Pending covid closure and such silly nonsense, I would really like to attend this!
Hopefully LGA won't be closed to travellers!
Thanks for organising!

Thanks for organising!
Seeing as this is our local patch we would love to attend, but I'm currently rostered to work. Things may change, but for now the best we can offer is a "maybe".
Close to home, a day off work, post Christmas stress, & doing good environmentally…..count me in
Probably... depends on travel restrictions ... virus and weather related, but hopefully back in town by then
Pretty sure at the moment that my travel plans will not be going ahead, so likely will be around and if that’s the case I intend to be on the clean up crew for this.
Sounds good; It will be nice to end the year giving back to the environment.
Will try to bring [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T), and so we may be restricted to a pram-friendly area.
