This was a fun family outing for all 4 of us. We met a very sweet dog on the way up. Thanks for the geocache!
Muggle65 and l have arrived in NZ for the Mega. We have a lot of family commitments this week but will try to get a cache a day. Today was a win with three caches found! Thank you for the Virtual
GreenGecko 1 & I have blown in from over the ditch Our plan is at least a virtual a day while here . Great location, fabulous history. We have seen this formation in a couple of places now and still think its pretty wild.

A challenge to get up here, but a lot other were here, with children. Thanks for the cache./herrFamaxe from Sweden
We walked up to the top of Mt Cargill and stopped to look at the Organ Pipes on our way back down. We scrambled to the top of the pipes but it was very windy at the top and the weather was getting worse so we didn't spend too much time here before making a hasty retreat. What an amazing place, thanks for setting up a virtual cache here. Logging with permission, +1 FP.
Family getaway up to our old stomping ground in Christchurch. Day 7 - Christchurch to Dunedin.Homeward bound on a windy day. Detoured here to get the on site info for the Earthcache in anticipation of Earthcache Day next weekend. As we (Saethwr and I) got to the carpark (having overshot it the first time past as someone was leaving) another family was heading up. We took our time and caught some great views as we went up. We seemed to overshoot GZ, but kept going as we were sure there would be a DoC signpost, and there was. I listened to my knees and stayed near the bottom of the pile of pipes. Saethwr went up, out of sight and out of hearing. After a short time the family who had gone up before us came down. The younger girl (in her early teens) told me she was staying low so her glasses wouldn't go flying. She said that flying would be exciting but not the landing. I agreed! Info sent. Thanks for the cache debsnz# 3820 30 September 2023 4:43 pm
Excellent walk up here as always, although it seems to get steeper as one ages! Photo appended and answer sent.
Did the loop from Sawyer's Bay to Bethunes Gully via this site. There were seven of us including the four who scored the FtF for this cache. I decided to take the lower reading as it was rather cold and that meant having the others hang around longer than needed to eat our lunch.
TFTC, I have never attempted climbing up here before; this was good motivation. Mt Cargill was in fog unfortunately but still it was a pleasant climb, not too hot. I also did the earthcache.
Nice weather and a wonderful place with good energy!I sendGreetings from the Czech Republic and Thanks For This Cache.

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [xx(].
This time its a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Once arrived in beautiful Dunedin [:X], today was my "Oldie, Challenge and Climbing"-day .
This geo-treasure contributed to the finds of today. Cool! [^]
This was far more challenging than anticipated - but a T4 must be earned (climbed)...
A big thanks to the owner debsnz [:X] for this cool virtual and the climb! [^] - and best regards from Germany !

Nice walk up here again. Was a bit windy when out in the open. Overshot the coordinates as I was intent on heading up but didn’t go too far when I was suspicious when the organ pipes disappeared! Answers sent

Found time for a walk up here today with muggle Kevin. He was happy after the scramble up here to take a memorable photo for tgis virtual cache. Thanks for bringing me up here again. The views are worth the climb
Napoleon_Solo and I came down from Mt Cargill for this. It was like a railway station at the Organ Pipes today! A few people were sitting having afternoon tea pretty much at GZ so reading and photo taken a few metres from the spot. Photo attached and reading sent to CO. An enjoyable afternoon outing on a beautiful day. TFTC.
Found with dad. That's me in the photo in his log. He has emailed the elevation reading to the CO for both of us. TFTC.
OMG what a climb it was to get to the bottom of the Organ Pipes, but it was worth it. We weren't quite brave enough to climb up to the top, especially after a couple of the rocks moved when we stood on them. But maybe next time.
We noticed on the way back down how some of the rocks had been used to form some of the steps on the track.

Hoorey we finally found these. I have looked a few times but not found the route up. With the chance of another virtual and a sunny if chilly day we came again. I note that the wp where you leave the track is showing as the final on my phone but was where expected.
A bit of hunting at the top until spied it through the trees. Double or triple fave if I could. Many thanks.

Found with the rest of the group.Much discussion about altitude, it is amazing how much similar technology cab differ in detail. I appear in the group photo so no pic from me.Many apologies for the delay in logging it somehow got pushed off my list.
Four geocachers went past this morning and debated the altitude readings from everyone's different apps and GPS's. Nice staircase to the top and lovely view- haven't been here for, um, decades... great place for a virtual!
With the group this morning we reached the organ pipes and began to take photos and look at our devices for the elevations. Mine seems to record a lot lower than the others, so I am going with the majority. Answers emailed. We got to the top for more photos. I’ll add the ones taken by one of the muggles which show the group. This place was crying out for a virtual, and now we have one! Thanks Debs.
Went with the group, but bailed out of the clamber over the rocks to the summit, so my elevation reading from the lower position. Always an enjoyable destination. Thank you for the virtual.
Thanks debs- you have solved our weekly question of "where shall we walk this Wednesday?". A nice easy walk on a well-formed gravelled track will be ideal after this rain we've been having!
