People can put funny things in your Certitude checker.I never remember asking for a set of coordinates, but I got one anyway. In entirely unrelated news, this puzzle was solved after 1 guess. Not bad for 1 in 2000 odds! It's a pretty nice walk up here, and the local kangaroos didn't mind me sharing their territory. The outer container was an interesting sight, although I was surprised to see the logbook confined to such a tiny inner container with all that space available. From memory, I think I might've carted the UV pen up and scribbled something down about RNG 1 and/or 2 in there, although that sounds pretty random of me to do!Thanks DARKSIDEDAN!
A spare 2 hours between morning coffee and lunch and a beer. To fill it in either this cache or the new AL nearby. This cache won out. Nice container and great views from gz. First time been here with the no sight of a horse around. TFTC.
Crazy puzzle, but team work was deployed to make our way through this one. An excellent hide at GZ. Gave us quite the zap! Thanks Darksidedan Domsky
Whoa !!!! after only about 1000 attempts I was finally able to get an answer. Will now look for the cache when I am next out that way.
In unity there is strength, but in division there is conquest. Not a great time of the year, but what the hell, sunny, humid and snakey conditions, bahhh. Made my way to GZ where the cache was easily spotted. Signed and replaced it was a more direct descent where after a quick conversation with two of the locals, made it back to the geomobile without further incident. Favourite added for the theme of the cache. TNLNSL TFTC
Found whilst out and about with fitzy_1965 today.Nice to finally be out and getting my fitness up after a terrible last year. Thanks for placing this cache.
34,094. Found with minniek during a meander around Mt Arawang and region. This cluster of caches had been on our list to do for a while. Today we did a circuit and went up and over for most of the available caches. After a nearby oldie for minniek we took the direct route up to this one. Once at GZ we of course spotted the prize straight away. Well I'm just glad I didn't have to lug that container up here ! Open the container, grabbed the inner, opened it and stamped the log. Replaced everything as found then we slowly made our way back down to continue of journey. Thanks DSD !! Well done on getting to 2K, despite the effort it took to solve this one. Fav Point.
This was a great walk to GZ and found a very unusual container. What made this a memorable cache were the herd of horses that came to see me as I was exiting the park land, about 20 of the four legged critters. It was a bit awesome.
Congratulations 2000th Dan.. Very clever hide and took me 10 mins looked everywhere.. Finally found it Tks Fav for you
I was part of the original message group that got ftf - problem was that I was overseas. Having known who got success and what group of caches they were exploring, I had a much narrower band to work with on my return. I still had to plug away with lots of red before I finally got a green.A nice park and walk to gz on a pleasant Sunday morning. TFTC DSD. Congrats on surpassing the 2000 mark. An amazing effort, with some good assistants.
We were fortunate that we had just over a third of the work completed to resolve this puzzle using the mundane method. Luck was on our side. That said, not before trying multiple other ways of solving this puzzle,A quick pick up on our way hiking today. All thanks to mountainsbeyond resolving the coordinates just before leaving home. Great timing. Congratulations on your 2000th hide! TFTC DARKSIDEDAN.
We tried a few things before succumbing to the reality that there's only one way to get this done. The challenges along the way have been well-documented in the earlier logs; suffice to say that structure and teamwork is the way to make this the least painful. After some inspired, but unsuccessful, earlier guesses I got the green light from certitude on the 333rd 'proper' set of co-ordinates I tried. Is that number significant? Maybe. Or maybe not.At GZ today we made a quick find of a less common outer cache container. Hope this one doesn't get cleaned up with any future CITOs! (I think Nigella pronounces it 'mee-cro-wah-vay', and if you haven't seen that clip I strongly encourage you to find it on the interwebs). Thanks, DSD, and congratulations on 2000+ hides.
When I picked up the cache, I didn't get a warm feeling. Lack of power? TFTC
Logging this now that it has been found as I was present for the exhausting placement! What an effort for the first to find crew as well, nicely done! Given that Ive been present for the placement of many hundred DSD caches over the years, ever since he started hiding, I think it was only fitting that I came along for this one too! I heard many different ideas of what the 2,000th DSD hide was going to be, but none of them quite came to light in time. The best ideas are often the last minute ones! We recently solved a puzzle in SA with a group of people that had us captivated for about a week. Surprised that this puzzle concept hasnt been in the ACT before, DSD decided he should change that! I was then hiking with him one day and the idea of using his 2,000 cache hides, instead of random numbers, came out of the blue! What a fantastic idea, you often just find a cache once and then forget about it, even if it stills exists years later. Getting solvers to reminisce on all of DSDs hides over the years is a very cool concept for a milestone cache, and brings back memorys for those who have ever found a DSD cache! As I was scrolling the cache list, I had many memories flooding back and some that I had certainly forgotten about! Many locations I would have never experienced if it wasn't for a DSD cache, so very appreciative of the work he has done in the community to keep us all entertained! Heaps of events & CITO's also which are a commitment to host when you have a changing scheduleThe cache container also happened to fall into his lap and the plans for hide #2,000 were finally at full speed, with a location also picked out all we had to do was get it in position! What Im most glad about is that DSD didnt have a heart attack whilst hiding his 2,000th cache! Ive hiked with him countless times and this experience is up there with the most physically exhausted Ive ever seen him! Im glad he wasnt by himself, and I shared some of the load to get the cache hidden in spot chosen, because it wasnt easy, and for some reason we decided to do it the hardest way possible as well! After resting near GZ for 10-15 minutes on the verge of throwing up, he eventually pulled through like always and was ready to go again, phew! A massive FAVOURITE from me as well of course. Not only is this a unique concept for a puzzle, but a great hide that incorporates several aspects of a typical DSD cache but with some special twists. Well done, Im sure this is far from the end however and Im sure I will be hiding & finding many more caches with DSD in the future, he is unstoppable! I have found 1697 caches hidden by DSD! A pretty incredible effort but still only puts me 3rd on the podium with Tankengine and TikvaNZ being up the top! There are actually 214 active that I havent found within a couple hours of ACT, so if I went out and found all of them Id come out on top hmmm! Thanks again DSD, heres to many more! Thank you again for being such an important figure in the ACT caching community, I don't know what it would be like without you!
FTF with AngelG27, EthisEthat, Pantspeople, TikvaNZ and ZQX.Getting the green light on this one was certainly a case of divide and conquer amongst the team, although we had a double up on assigned tasks and the particular "green light" cache was next on my list! So today the team assembled bright and early for the assault on GZ. Wasn't an easy stroll to get there and I seem to recognise the "item" from a few weeks ago lol Good effort getting that there! Thanks for the cache DSD! And thank you for your amazing contributions to the caching community! Fave point!
@21230 @0835 {FTF} with AngelG27, EthisEthat, Pantspeople, SpecimenX and ZQX.This was a marathon team effort over several days, testing almost all of the 2000 possible combinations before one of the team finally achieved success. Thanks to ZQX for his coordination of our efforts. We then held off the find until this morning when most of us were available, hoping that others wouldn't beat us to it. The cache container was quickly spotted once near GZ. Congratulations on your 2000th placement. TFTC.
Cache 10722 on 15 Oct 2023. **FTF** with EthisEthat, Pantspeople, SpecimenX, TikvaNZ and ZQX. ZQX coordinated a group of buddies to work our way logically through this puzzle. Obviously not hard, just boring! Making sure the coordinates were in the right format was also time consuming. I was not as quick as others, but did make my way through several series. Looks like we had some double up checks, but they cant hurt. So glad when the light turned green for one in our group! Shame GHHH could not make it to CBR for the FTF hunt.As you would expect from a T3, it was not a walk in the park to get to GZ, or maybe it was! The cache container was a very small salutation recognized from a previous event methinks, must have been fun to place it! Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for the cache and the fun! Congratulations on 2000 finds, and thank you for all your contributions to caching in the ACT and local NSW area! I have found over 1300 of your caches, still lots to go! Fav point comin at ya!
FTF with EthisEthat, SpecimenX, TikvaNZ, pantspeople and AngelG27.When this cache got published, I asked a number of friends if they would like to be part of a solving team. What is required here is definitely the kind of task that works best when divided among a large team of people. I was hoping for at least ten people, but started with seven. Six of the seven were available for our *FTF* attempt this morning. We were not lucky. Between us, we hammered the Certitude server over 2000 times. How is this possible? There were some double ups. Possibly even a few triple ups. But I calculate that we guessed around 1900 unique sets of coordinates before EthisEthat hit the jackpot. Other teams might have a lot more luck than us.Guess where the cache was. I'll give you 2000 options:The cache was up a tree. The cache was in a rock creviceThe cache was in a small pile of rocks. The cache was a nano on a park bench. The cache was a mint tin, stuck with magnets to a bridge. The cache was lying in the open. The cache was floating on a lake. The cache was at the top of a hill. The cache was in a rusty safe in the captains cabin in a shipwreck. The cache was in a fluffy doll..........What a surprise the cache turned out to be. Can't say I've seen many hides like that. Thanks DSD for a large cache, a nasty 'puzzle', and on 2000 caches. Thanks to the team, the magnificent seven, who persisted all the way to the solution.
[FTF] with a merry band of accomplices. A nice meander to the final location and an impressive hide once there. Getting that here must have been hard work, so props to DSD for that effort (as well as having 2000 caches placed - thats roughly 100 times as many as I have deployed, and only slightly fewer than Ive found in my 12+ years of caching!).Cracking the case on this lottery was a true team effort. It was looking like we might have missed a trick as we collectively worked through DARKSIDEDANs plethora of hides hidden before this one, but after much brute forcing and warnings from Barts familiar blackboard, a green light was finally received. Well done to EthisEthat for finding the right cache and coordinates to satisfy the certitude. Thanks also to ZQX for coordinating the whole solving affair. Cheers again to DARKSIDEDAN for this great hide (and all the others of course) and congratulations on your 2000th! A well earned favourite point for this hide, and also in recognition of your cumulative caching contribution! We look forward to finding many more of yours, whether old or new --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In the spirit of reconciliation we would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of country on which we geocache throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. [FTF] with ZQX, AngelG27, pantspeople, SpecimenX and TikvaNZ (with a special shout out to Googlehihihi)I had heard about this cache brewing for a while before it actually saw the light of day. Ever since me and a certain group of friends cracked 'The Choice is Yours', a particular somebody had cooked up the creation of this cache. So I wasn't exactly surprised when this cache appeared in my inbox, except I was intrigued by the location since that certain somebody was very secretive about that.I was approached by a ZQX who invited me (and GHHH) to help out with the puzzle solving efforts. There was a lot to test and only teamwork could complete this one. So off I went, guessing a whole lot of options. There was a lot of guessing, everyone is familiar with the fact that for every 10 incorrect guesses, you have to wait 10 minutes. That's fine, I would usually watch some YouTube, play Battle Cats, ponder over puzzles or do some schoolwork while waiting. However, every 100 attempts, you have to wait 1000 minutes, which is a bit more. So I would bust out the alternative accounts and keep on guessing away.I believe it was around the 1700 cache mark when we got the feeling of dread that we may have missed something. Statistically, we should have found the correct cache around 700 attempts ago, did somebody enter in solved coordinates instead of listed coordinates? We shook that feeling away and kept trying, with the amount of caches left slowly ticking down. Finally, after approximately 1900 unique cache tried, I managed to locate the correct cache on a sunny day after a day of schoolwork. I myself (according to my notes) tested 363 induvial caches, along with assigning some of the random ones with some goofy names since I was bored, quite a read that will be in the future I suspect. An interesting GZ, not exactly the easiest to reach given the T3, but it went fairly smoothly (maybe). An even more interesting container, I've heard about these but never actually found one myself. Good job lugging that up here!TFTC DARKSIDEDAN! Without a doubt a favourite, as this cache is basically all 2000 of your hides packaged into one! (I've only found 303 of yours, plenty to go!) And a special thanks to ZQX for organizing the chaos!
