What a beautiful place with black sand. Today were our last day on holiday for 5 weeks. Tomorrow we go back to the netherlsnds. I will send you the answers
An evening in and around Waiuku and given the potential of a nice sunset I headed to Kariotahi for a wander along the beach. Cutting across the dunes to the cliffs I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the dunes and study the environment. Always good to have to think about your surroundings and how nature impacts. Answers sent to the CO and logging in anticipation. Thanks df8an#5527Logged using Cachly.
I've always wanted to come out to this part of the west coast of Auckland. I love the black sand beaches and the general wildness here. The day we visited the wind was blowing, the rain was coming and the waves were impressive. Our geohound loved bouncing about in the sand.
I always like visiting these West Coast beaches. They are beautiful but not pristine. Erosion is a problem in many places though it does make for interesting formations. Thank you for the placement.
We are on a trip in New Zealand. A wonderful country with a lot of (old )caches. There are too many caches so we limit ourselves to the (old) gems or where we happen to make a stop. . df8an, thank you for this earth cache, regards xizat-NL. Take care, this hobby can develop to an addiction.
Hello from Seattle, geocaching ground zero!! We are staying here at the beach for a couple days and have enjoyed the views. Answers here were done with the help of muggle geologist brother in law. Thanks!!
After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. We've been blessed with travels over the years and have visited black sand beaches in Hawaii, Iceland, and now here. There were lots of muggles scattered about on this warm afternoon, but we could still make our observations and snap some pics. Our answers have been sent via the message system and we appreciate the CO developing this geological lesson. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
#13,752. I visited Kariotahi Beach recently and while there I noticed there were two earthcaches. This was one of them. I carried out the requested tasks and sent the answers to the CO. I learnt quite a bit about the cliffs along this beach doing this earthcache. Not sure when I was last out here. Possibly 30 years ago! Thanks df8an for setting it up. Will add a photo.
Well done HeMaLuDy! Would have loved to come here for the rare FTF, (I have a few on EC's now). Will put this on the back burner though.
A lovely drive out here to this new Earthcache. The sunset on the drive out was spectacular. Answers have been sent to CO. Happy to be first to log here. FTF.
