Logs
Plovers, wood ducks, rabbits and a cache. Might of even had something to do with testing the mortar between them bricks. TFTC
I had seen this memorial before; it is even more lovely at night time.I got a set of coordinates that made some sort of sense, but could not find a cache there. In fact, I couldn't identify anywhere that I'd hide a cache, though there was certainly a lot of wildlife (and litter).Maybe I'll go back and check my numbers again one day.
Id visited the memorial and gathered the numbers on my way to another cache after attending a nearby event. As I approached GZ, I was concerned Id got it wrong, buy, my mind put at ease from reading past logs, I had a look around as soon spotted something, revealing the container. The local inhabitants werent impressed, but I guess wildlife was promised and delivered. Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5
Great memorial, looks a bit spacey at night. Answers were gathered and after I had tripple checked that GZ was a bit further than expected and indeed in this wried place looking like a dump which might be at times under water, I started my search. Couldn't find anything out of place here, noting like the COs usual hides. Eventually I PAFed and thankfully got a quick answer and was able to tick this one off, as I was not keen on coming back here. Thank you The Farmers 5 for putting the cache out, maintaining it and contributing to this great hobby we have.
Had a bit of trouble with the coordinates (shouldn't have second guessed ourselves) but found it in the end. A very fun hide! TFTC
The puzzle was surprisingly hard (I got a digit wrong and it ended up directing me to go for a swim), but after that mix up, I arrived at GZ. After searching for a bit, my mum decided to take over, and told me that a certain spot was looking suspicious. How did she guess this? Who knows. But regardless, the cache was actually in that spot, which I retrieved using a pretty cool method. A great example of how to make retrieval fun without spending a money on equipment.
It was quite a while ago when I visited WP1 of this multi and recorded GZ. However on that day I walked through rabbit wonderland and proceeded to spend about 20 minutes searching in the wrong spot to no cache. It wasnt until afterwards when I was browsing the proximity map when I realised my calculated GZ was 10m inside the radius of another! I know that slip ups sometimes happen, but it prompted me to take another look which revealed that I somehow messed up a multiple choice guess. Thats embarrassing! With refined numbers I was pointed to an odd spot, but it did have some potential so bookmarked it as More correct than my previous. Out and about on the bike today and I decided to give my second GZ a shot. After carefully riding my bike to GZ I spied a likely spot, but was then surprised when I spotted the cache right next to me in a completely different location! Soon the cache was retrieved and name added to the logbook. An interesting hide thats for sure! Thanks for this multi and cache The Farmers 5!
What a disaster thalidomide was.We collected the information but our coords didn't appear correct but we decided to go and check out the area anyway. They turned out to be correct and led to a challenging hide. Plenty of wildlife was seen on the way! There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache The Farmers 5.**SKI Pair****
I had not been here since they blocked off the road to Blundell's Cottage, so I had no idea about this memorial. Thalidomide was actually created by a Swiss company (CIBA), and then marketed by Grunenthal. I was born just after the link to birth defects was discovered, so I was lucky it wasn't used anymore. But my mum also didn't have morning sickness, which it was often used for. The memorial is quite poignant. At GZ I was momentarily puzzled, but soon discovered the cache. TFTC *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
An interesting memorial I was not aware of. Quickly found the required numbers and walked over to gz for a quick find, only because the container was out in the open. It was apparent from the cache where it was supposed to be so I put it back in the appropriate spot out of sight. TFTC.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra for ANZAC day. With a late morning start we were on the bikes through EPIC to the light rail then the plan was to ride between the bridges of Lake Burley Griffin but alas too many caches and too little time so another day at least to finish that task. Bit of a breeze today so whilst sunny it was still a little cool. some lengthy search didnt help with our time management. We saw at least 2 school groups cycling around the lake, lucky for us they were going the other way, whilst we were stopped having lunch. collected the info whilst dodging a busload of school kids TFTC The Farmers 5
When we made a walk at the lake, we visited some Caches. Thias was one of our founds today. Thank you to the owner for this cache.
Since I'm in Canberra for Mega, I've enjoyed seeing many places as well as the warm weather.fav from meHere's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache The Farmers 5
2/4/2024 Find #6970The final day in Canberra for KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and me, and we were going to pack it with caching before handing the hire car back and relaxing in the lounge at the airport. Having been up as far as Murrumbateman and then Yass this morning, we were now back down in Canberra for our final caches. We had decided to do a walking circuit around here to complete our mission. Such a sad thing to be remembered here. A fantastic sculpture. Final GZ was very messy and we did start to wonder if we were going to actually make the find, but I finally spied one thing which needed looking at a little closer - Captain Terror used his additional length and reached it, and we had cache finally in hand. Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5.
Found this while staying in Canberra for the mega event. It was a pleasure walking around the area and finding many caches. Although it was raining in the morning, the clouds cleared up for the rest of the day. Thank you to The Farmers 5 for placing the caches and highlighting this beautiful area. It was a great experience!
Found during the Mega event in Canberra over the Easter long weekend. Our team comprised courtneyrose_, Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, Freddo, gridge98 and Team Waldron, signing the logs as ABP to save time, and space in the logbooks, or with our individual caching names. Enjoyed a great weekend away finding a rewarding range of cache types, d/t combinations, cache hides and retrievals. Thanks for the cache The Farmers 5!
Cache found after a bit of a search. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. Found on our journey over the week here. This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Courtneyrose_ Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite as part of our team called: ABP (Alphabet People), the log books were either signed with the name, ABP or our individual caching names.A great weekend away in the capital and a very well organised mega, it was nice to be back in the ACT caching once again over easter with great weather. Thanks for the cache
Here for the geobash. Caches signed as GJX. Our three gcoven JACSTeam and xrocketx. Saturday was seek all ye can find day! Fab mix of cache types with some valuable oldies plus the big event! Beautiful memorial here! Thanks for showing it gave from me
Interesting monument, worked out GZ, strolled across with hundreds of bunnies scurrying, then it become hard, scoured the area and nothing, left and double checked our GZ calcs, yep, all good, hmmmmmm, resorted to a previous finder for assistance and wandered back, now that's a different hide, one we have never encountered on our geocaching travels, be interested to see if it survives the bunny neighbourhood, TFTC The Farmers 5
This is an incredible memorial. This was the first time I heard about the people affected by this drug/poison. The final took us a while to locate, but eventually, we stumbled across it; thanks!
I found this cache on a visit from Adelaide to Canberra to attend the Capital GeoBash Mega event over Easter.Today I teamed up with FeatherWaite, Team Waldron, gridge98, CourtneyRose and Davidwazza. Logs were signed ABP to save time and space on the logsheets. It was a productive day, focusing mainly on caches of interest, with a variety of cache types. The weather was fine and quite warm, in contrast to some of the other times Ive been in Canberra over Easter. Thanks The Farmers 5 for the cache.
Found this during a fantastic weekend away at the Canberra Mega, with gridge98, Freddo, Team Waldron, e.gregory1, Davidwazza and Featherwaite. The log books were either signed with the name ABP or our individual caching names. Was an excellent Mega, grateful to be part of it!
Out and about during my trip down to the GeoBash Mega in Canberra. A fantastic time was had with both friends from home and family who traveled as well. We had amazing weather for the most part which allowed some walks and we even got out on the kayaks. I enjoyed revisiting locations from living here in my teens and early 20s. Sadly with the change to the weather later in the week I had to call my trip short. All caches found were in good condition which was fantastic. Thank you for adding to my Mega caching trip!
Found 31 Mar 2024 at 1:10:26pmOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffin with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went.Easily worked out GZ, but once there it became hard and we were on the verge of walking away when one half of Team_Crumble came up with the prize. Many thanks to The Farmers 5 for placing Glass Bricks for us all to find
We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today. Found after we had searched for quite awhile. Very tricky!
Here on dusk and keen to grab a multi a day. Found the outlook from the memorial great as the sun set. Set off to calculated coordinates and had to use the torch to find the cache, and a way back to lake track. Scared a few bunnies and spent a while at the GZ eventually working what the cache container was! All in good condition here. Greetings from north Queensland and thanks for the informative cache.
Another beautiful sunny Canberra day here for the GeoBash.Out and about with our WA5 team and Neva2Old. Logs signed as WA6.Burns laid eyes on this one after all the bunnies scattered!Cache found with no issues. Cheers
Very happy to be here for my first Mega event from WA. Out to fill my grid and find some high favourited caches. Lots of laughs catching up with old friends and making some new friends along the way. Day 2 of my magnificent mega caching experience in Canberra and surrounds.Today I C Nothing, meme28, geotrakka, Burns345, neva2old & I (signing as WA6) focussed more on the central Canberra area with a couple of tours booked at Parliament House & the Australian War Memorial, was fantastic to see these places and meet caches from all over the place too.The evening was spent on another mega tour at Mt Stranger.Once again a great variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks The Farmers 5 for placing Glass Bricks for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 15:47 on 28/3/2024.This is find number 8388 for me.
Part of the Sandgroper contingent that has come to the Mega to explore new hunting grounds. Its sure to be a great week with many finds and laughs with lots of great friends and maybe some new ones along the way. Thank you for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Logged as WA6.

TFTC smile20089 ?? Out and about on a Sunny day after being away for 3 months been checking to see what I haven't log and this is one , I really enjoyed doing this cache with Charmad as I was doing the finding on the bricks signed as GS1947 on small logs.I also remember when all this happened, my son was born in 1966 and I was pleased that I didn't have a lot of sickness, FP for a great cache Thank you The Farmers 5 for placing this cache for our enjoyment ????
Today I had a plan on grabbing a variety of caches and all with a varying degree of types and difficulties. There is a great number of caches with special attributes and d/t's around town. For me it was an early start and I first took off to grab a cache and a virtual after I had fueled up at the local servo. I then raced off to grab a few more before I had to meet up with my caching buddy of the day Grannysmith. We had a huge day and a lot of laughs, there were few stories to catch up on and some great caches.Logs were signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks for the hides.I enjoyed doing this one, a favourite point for this cache and bringing me here..
#4689 I bypassed this cache the last time I was in the area as there were works going on in and around the memorial.Back this morning I collected the information and headed off to GZ.I got a bit lucky here finding the container out in the open. I contacted a previous finder who clarified how the cache hide was intended and placed it accordingly after logging. Not sure if I would have otherwise found this sneaky hide. Thanks TF5 for the cache.
go the coordinates and had a good look at GZ and couldn't find it. possibly had the wrong GZ as it wasn't very kid friendly and thisncache is tagged as such.
Here at mountainsbeyond we do like a good sculpture/monument, and this one was no different. Numbers sorted and a shortish walk off to GZ where the cache was found without issue. Thanks, Farmers 5!
After my weekly visit ti Civic ti meet friends for morning tea, I was out and a bout for some chores and a cache. I had seen this come out recently and decided to go and have a look. The car park was just clearing of people who had been out on a bike ride so I squeezed in and headed over to the memorial. Well worth a look and quite impactful, given how short the drug was used in Australia. Anyway, numbers crunched, I headed over to GZ with bunny rabbits spreading in every direction. The cache was soon found and signed. Time to go and get fuel now. Thanks for the cache The Farmers 545385.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Adventure Lab Tag A#455**Albida**
Found with MilesMorales 2 and Czechboy14After a solid scooter session at the local skate park I semi convinced MM2 and CB14 with a detour on the way home, taking only a soft cone each from McDonalds to convince them so. Parked sensibly and wandered over to gather the required details. Numbers crunched and confirmed by a previous finder before making the short journey to GZ where the boys stood back and out of potential harms way. Water damage to the surrounds was heavy duty, but was still able to find the cache without too much difficulty. Signed and replaced we left a little quicker than we arrived. TNLNSL TFTC
Back again for a quick find after a kind hint from one of the original finders (back at the beginning of Jan). Always appreciated as we had avoided those areas due to recent fumigations (end December) but you would never know from the abundance of wildlife' still around. TFTC The Farmers 5.
Really enjoyed the listed coordinates, haven't been here since it was all changed, so thanks for bringing me back! Gathered some answers, and headed off to my calculated spot. It wasn't a great spot though, however after 10 minutes StarsAlign and SocialClimber appeared and joined the search! Without any luck & hearing about how the others got coordinates, I decided that maybe I had made an error and it was just a total fluke that they had also made the same error. I asked the others if they wanted to join me to head back to the listed coordinates, but they declined and wanted to check things a bit more, so I headed off solo.Well turns out the sweltering hot sun was making my brain mushy, and ended up miscalculating the GZ coordinates on my first attempt! As once I got back to WP1 I noticed my error and had some new coordinates! Pretty silly given it was multiple choice! Oh wellHeaded off to GZ which was in yet another odd location. But there's no way I could bugger an easy calculation twice! So I started the search. Located the cache within a couple minutes this time, a very odd hide indeed, but something stood out to me that was worth investigating! Replaced as found and headed back to the aircon of the car, and home for a late lunch!TFTC Farmers 5
Hmm.... no cache, and fair enough as I had used Dr Google in sunny QLD to calculate GZ. However, three of us calculated the same GZ separately using this method and different sources. So, today I felt pretty confident with my GZ. We turned up to find nothing of interest at our GZ. Another cacher was also in the vicinity but they smartly headed back to WP1 to review their answers, and we were soon to follow after a bit more of a look around. At WP1 we saw the printed answers so that was good, and our coordinate issue was obvious. With our new GZ not too far away we headed off. We searched and searched and.... but the cache was too cleverly hidden for us, We looked in many nooks and crannies even finding a recently fumigated dead rabbit. Poor thing, and YUK. With a storm brewing overhead and looking ominous it was a sign to get going and come back another day.
Canberra has many memorials, without caching to highlight them, I feel I would never know how many!Gz was an interesting location, I poked in a few wrong spots before coming closer to the coordinates and spotting what was needed. Thanks for the cache!
Chooo ooo [Found] with dty73 just after meeting TikvaNZ! - He didn't give any hints. Took us a while to find, - very unusual hide!!! Hope it lasts! Thanks The Farmers 5!
Out with Tankengine to do a little maintenance and also find this new cache. The memorial looks interesting and Id like to see it at night. GZ wasnt far away and it took a little bit to find the cache after arriving. But we soon had it in hand and signed. Then scootered off to do some maintenance around the lake. Tftc!!!
#21461 @1050An interesting memorial. Information quickly found, and GZ calculated. Then a wander to GZ. .... Log soon signed. TFTC.
[FTF] at 7:28pm. Lazing around at home and saw this published so I thought, why not get dressed and try for a FTF! I knew that it was only a matter of time before there was a cache about this new memorial. I'm grateful that the final cache is not located at the memorial itself and that the questions take the traumatic subject matter seriously. Upon hearing about this memorial and seeing the National Apology, I did more research into thalidomide so it goes to show that national apologies, government compensation and memorials are really important in educating future generations about past travesties and providing some solace to survivors. The questions for the cache were solved quickly and then I was off to GZ where it took a couple of minutes to spot the cache with a blank log inside. Then, I went back to the memorial for a closer look (thankfully, I was able to park right next to the memorial with no-one else around tonight, not even other geocachers). TNLNSL. TFTC TF5!
