Archiving this event at my next event, I had better luck getting to the event this time
It's looking like my tour MAY arrive a bit late. Please carry-on, gcers always have adventure stories to share with or without a host present. I will arrive as soon as possible. Be sure to log "attended".
Not going to make Wellington until after 8p. So bummed, this is the most responses I received out of the 32 international events I've hosted. I apologize for an inconvenience. Let me know if you ever visit Prescott, Arizona.
Greetings to those in Twigs selfie! Despite the absence of the EO, you still can record an Attended log of course! Unlike me, who logged a Will Attend but as I am 80km away at Manakau, cannot!
Well, Wellington usually puts on a pretty good turnout for a midweek event, but alas with 9 people (Twig's photo plus JustLooking) we only had about half of the usual number. Two English and a bunch of locals. Alas, no CO, as he is on a tour that is running late. So a bit of a natter, especially about the upcoming Mega in Adelaide that some of us are heading off to (we leave on Friday) and of another event in town... tomorrow! We discussed hanging around a bit to meet with the CO when he gets back from his tour (Someone suggested he was on a ferry and it was running late. No idea where that came from!). And then I saw a new cache get published, only a couple of kilometres away. That's a good way to fill in some time! So most of the attendees headed off to do that FTF and managed to find it. Took 20 minutes with the 5 of us hunting. Quite tricky. Head back into town for something to eat. I had managed to contact the CO so we ended up a a place just a couple of minutes walk from where the CO was staying, But alas, turns out his tour was running VERY late. In the end we couldn't meet up, which is a bit of a shame.I know what it is like not being able to attend your own event, although in my case I completely forgot that my event was on!!Happy travels around New Zealand, hope you get to see some truly awesome stuff.
I have to admit this was a first for me - attending an event without a host! Ahh the joys of being a tourist on a holiday. I remember those days well although I wasn't a geocacher at the time. But it wasn't an issue. There were the usual mix of hardy locals to brave the breezy early evening, and we were joined by another pair of tourists from England, so the tourist element was well represented Shame I didn't get to meet you, but I hope you're having a ball touring around New Zealand in general, and Wellington in particular.Best wishes, and thanks for putting this event on
Sorry not to meet the CO, but we had a great time anyway, nipping off to get an FTF and then having a drink and some pizza in a nearby bar, with a fun music bingo quiz. Wed hoped the CO might join us, but his tour seemed to be finishing later and later, so no luck there. Thanks for setting up the event anyway. I hope you enjoy New Zealand!
(# 8686 ) Attended the event and was also pleased to meet a couple of geo tourists from Britain. Was looking forward to catching up but with the vagaries of being on a tour it was not destined to happen.I hope you enjoy visiting NZ with safe travels and happy caching.
Attended with misteree. Unfortunately the event organiser was delayed but never the less we met some lovely locals who know me now as "Alex's Mom"Anyhow the locals went off and hopefully were successful in their search for a FTF. Whilst we were happy to get burger and beers.Thank you for arranging and happy travels
Wellington is fast becoming the social capital of Geocaching in NZ. Loving it, and I'll be there!
Aiming to be there to meet yet another foreigner holding a Meet & Greet. So far this year, we have welcomed to Wellington, a Norwegian, a Swede, a German couple & 2 Estonians! Look forward to it.
Wow the events are just piling up lately - nice to see so many welcoming tourists back into the county. I leave for Australia just a few days after this event, which means... plenty of time to come say hello!
