Logs
My phones gps was glitching so much amongst the trees it gave me a 20 meter search radius. Combine with a lot of hiding spots on the ground after the floods, no chance.
It is a bit off from the coordinates but after a quick look around we did manage to find it
We have now arrived back in Deloraine for a few days. This afternoon we only found 4 caches but it was a good haul. A multi that started in SA, a puzzle Id finally solved, a resolved DNF after owner maintenance and a new cache placed since we last visited. A very productive afternoon. We met a Canadian couple looking for platypus along the walk here sadly I think they were a bit too early. They asked if we were searching for platypus too, no its a geocache hunt for us . Wed read the 2ystassies log so knew we needed to extend our search area, husband began where the most tree and leaf debris was and he quickly located the cache. The log book is very wet it could do with a replacement and a zip lock bag. TFTC we loved our walk here
This one was on our list for today, but given previous logs, we decided to give this one a miss and await updates. Thanks anyway for adding to Deloraine caching paydirt.
The cache appears to have been washed downstream from its hide and the logbook is sodden. Refer to our Found log for more details. The cache needs to be returned to its hide and the logbook needs replacing.
Today we needed to find one more cache in order to qualify for the equinox souvenir. This was our nearest unfound caache so after Mrs y'stassie finished her embroidery session we headed to Deloraine. We parked the car and took a short cut across the railway line and onto the Wild Wood track. A few trees had come down in the recent storm and had been cut up and the debris removed from the track. On arriving close to GZ we noticed that the wooded area appeared to have had water moving through it recently. There was nothing at the posted coordinates that matched the hint and we could not find the cache nearby. We expanded our search and still had no cache. As Mrs y'stassie turned to head back to GZ she saw something interesting some distance away. On closer inspection it turned out to be the cache container. Her GPS indicated it was 14m from the published coordinates. On opening the container there was a small amount of water inside but the log book was sodden. We had to try 3 pens before we found one that would write in the log without tearing the wet paper. We returned the container to the spot where we found it and will send the CO a message with the coordinates. Thanks for the cache themwoodies. We enjoyed our return visit to the Wild Wood. The log book will need replacing. The area appears to have been scoured by flood water recently and the container may have been carried away from its hide.
TFTC lovely afternoon walk with clear skies after a morning of rain. An area that I had not visited before. The well constructed cache should last some time.
FTF @ 1350! On our way to the north west for a long weekend away and noticed this new cache en route. We needed a stretch of the legs and this turned out to be perfect. Mrs H found the cache in no time. TFTC!Cheers,The Hancock Clan
