Hello Tazzie&Lizzie,Another day, another Cache.Together with Dr Donna travelling through New Zealand. We arrived at Auckland Airport and made our way up north. After visiting Cape Reinga we went on our way South to reach Stewart Island with stops in many different Citys all over the country. Of course we have an open eye for nice Caches but take what we can get. Today we came across your Cache "Punakaiki (West Coast)" and signed the logbook with our names or took pictures for Virtuals or Earthcaches and answered all questions asked. Its great how many nice spots we are able to discover through our journey and how many of them we only See because of Geocaching! Thanks for bringing us to this place and takeing care for the geocache.
On a road trip together with -moge-; across New Zealand; from Cape Reinga to Stewart Island; up, down, right, left ... So much to see, so much to experience. So many great, and sometimes old, caches! But I can hardly keep up with the logging. Far too exhausted from all the experiences. I am sorry that it will now be a standardized log for some founds.
To explore the island today we are going from the east coast to the west coast. We drive over the Arthur Pass through very varied landscapes. Sometimes the valley is narrow, sometimes it is wide. Then again we drive along a wide river delta. We see bare mountain slopes and then again forested mountains. So our tour is never boring. We choose a few caches along the way to search for and log.Earthcaches, labcaches and virtuals are also popular. After reading onther logs we go to the right level and could find the container.A big thank you to all owners and greetings from the Moorhelmi
On our journey through New Zealand today from Punakaki to Nelson. We had to search occasionally along the way, but fortunately we were allowed to add this geocach to our logbook. I am sorry for the late log. But there was so much to explore in Punakaiki and the weather to good that I did not log the caches immediately after the find. But sadly I am already back in Germany with more than enough of bad weather to log.I was with Muggle on a three and half week trip to NZ. Nothing serious, just the well trodden track every NZ tourist does who is coming from the other side of the world and has not the chance to come here more often. North Island is done, Auckland Coromandel, Rotorua and Wellington touched. After Abel Tasman we spent 2 nights in Punakaiki. Hydrangeas gave us shelter. Last time I was here (25 years ago) we only got off the bus to look for pancakes about 20 minutes. Looks like as if they are going to develop this place further. After the pancakes were eaten I looked for other adventures reserved for geocachers only. The hint helped me to identify where to search. Thx for hiding.
I went for an early morning stroll from the campground to the cache and found it!Great fun !Thanks for contributing to the game by the placement and care of the cache. TFTC

My wonky knees stopped me going where I think it is. So it is more of a DNA (Did Not Attempt) than a DNF.
The old knees werent overly happy with this one but it was a beautiful night for a walk and explore
Found on my grandad Peter's 100th birthday. Enjoyed this hide.A bit harder to get too than others.Am going to use photo mum took to showcase my passion project for William Pike Challenge that I have almost completed
didn't expect the need of scuba gear, but luckily my travel snorkle did perfectly fine. tftc
Day 8 on our holiday in New Zealand. Today our tour is going from Punakaiki to Nelson. We also visited this tradi, found it, and signed the logbook.

I think my above average height and age are why I did not go where I suspect this one is.
Nice few caches to end our 4 days in the track

Finally time for our last PW Pilgrimage to the mighty west coast! A trip initially timed with the Wild Foods Festival but has been delayed a few times. Justlooking00 and I are finally here. Day 2 is north from Franz Josef Glacier to Westport. Weather and flood warnings aboud with thunderstorms threatening for this arvo. This was a target cache today and on our first scout around we couldn't find it - I think a previous cacher called it at 2021 look - so right.
Back to the car as the rain was hindering phone use. Dry phone (and me) and time to check previous logs - ooh that's where it is. Right time to commit to this! Cache duly found, right where said. Thanks for keeping this oldie alive. A great adventure - we had fun.

Spending the winter woofing, tramping and exploring the west coast caching along the way ..of course..
Staying in punakaiki for a while with my next job so a great opportunity to explore the area..
Jumped on the bike to ride the (knew for me) bike lane along the coast..
Will be heading for a paddle up the river in the next few days ...looks awesome..quick find dropped off tb tftc

While the rest of the (non geocaching) crew were still getting there beauty sleep I nipped out to grab a few caches that I thought would be best done in the morning with nobody else around. Wow an oldie but a goodie. Thanks for the cache.
Stopped to grab this one. It was not where we originally thought it was going to be. After counting to get the right spot I glanced up and spotted the cache. Thanks for the cache
Had a wee hunt for this one as we passed through but no joy

Took a while to find this one. Got quite a sore back getting to the cache location but found better way to get back. Thanks for placing the cache
Wow, now *this* is a golden oldie.
With a burger and two pints from the nearby tavern sitting comfortably in my stomach, there was just enough daylight left to pop down the road to grab the three lots of multi coordinates at the nearby sign board as well as take a look for this cache.
Jeez, I'm sure time and accessibility of listings and accuracy of GPS, together with the fact that this cache was published
[checks notes]
three-and-a-half years BEFORE the first iPhone was launched meant that placements of a certain vintage needed to be well thought out and meant to stand the test of time.
Knowing none of this before I started looking, I started with the obvious 2021-style look and soon came away disappointed.
A check back in recent logs suggested I was not quite 'on the level'.
Now sometimes when caching height in an advantage. Not with this hide it turns out.
I got there in the end though. Now to get back without breaking a leg or my neck!
Thanks Tazzie&Lizzie

#10,101. Day 4 of the geocaching road trip. Infoferret and I flew down from Wellington on Wednesday and have spent a couple of nights in Greymouth. But its time to leave now and head to our next lodgings in Westport. We have geotour caches to find, some adventure labs and a lot of solved puzzles on the way. Will pick up any traditional caches if we have time. The weather is still holding out and its another fine, warm, sunny spring day.
This was one of my must do caches today. A cache from 2003 is always worth stopping to look for. I got onto where to search fairly quickly and had to bend my stiff old back a bit to get into the right areas. Once there I counted my way along and looked up and yep there is the cache. Great. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks Tazzie&Lizzie for hiding it here. I remember doing an enjoyable overnight tramp up this river back in the early 1980s. Wish I was fit enough to redo those hikes today.

I was staying at the Beach Camp after completing a four day walk on the Paparoa Track so thought I'd make a quick trip to pick up this one I'd not read any of the logs so was totally unprepared Searched for a while on level 0 without success and then had a bit of a look at Level -1 before bailing out and returning to the local pub for dinner
A look through some of the old logs got me in the right space for a successful return trip in the morning All in great shape here - how else could it be?
It's really good to get a cache which is this old. Thanks for putting it here so long ago Well worth the favourite rating I have awarded

Over on the West Coast with SJT_NZ, the walking got a little restricted with the heavy rain but got some nice short walks and caching in, thanks Tazzie&Lizzie all in good order.
Found with Tregearp on a weekend in the West Coast to do some walks, caches and enjoy the views. All in good order - excellent coordinates. Thanks Tazzie&Lizzie for the cache.
For once we were sensible about parking and walked over to gz. More of a scramble than I expected, but no muggles that's one thing! TFTC!!
Continuing on our PWGT journey visiting the top of the Mainland this weekend. Always happy to find an old cache. Only by reading previous logs did we eventually locate it TFTC.
Heading down SH 6 to Greymouth this afternoon. One of New Zealand's great coastal drives. Really good to be here again today after a long absence. I soon worked out where I need to look. TFTC
Had just finished hiking the Paparoa Track from Smoke-Ho carpark through to Punakaiki, so spent this afternoon doing more walking and looking for caches around Punakaiki. Initially confused by this one, but got an idea from previous logs about where to look, making a quick find after that... good spot for a cache! TFTC!
Found with NZDi. We are staying at Carters Beach Holiday Camp as a base for a few days geocaching on the Wet Coast. Todays plan is to head to Greymouth picking up as many roadside PnGs as we can, with a few more interesting excursions thrown into the mix.
This is our sixteenth cache of the day, and initially I totally misinterpreted the hint. After failing to find the cache in the first couple of places I looked, I had an ahh-ha moment and it was a QEF after that.
Does the CO realise that someone in a wheelchair should be able to get a D1.0/T1.0 cache without assistance... just saying.
This was a not so QEF PnG.

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on a most enjoyable drive north from Greymouth on a gorgeous sunny day. We got as far as Crow Bay before turning back as we had left a few caches to do on the return journey.
Spotted this old cache when planning today's trip so was keen to turn into a smile. Had read past logs and knew not to read anything into the terrain rating. We had lunch at the Punakaiki Tavern, so left our car in their carpark and walked to GZ. SW had changed into shorts in case crawling was required (it wasn't). He found the cache too. TFTC.

#18196. After a big lunch at the tavern we strolled to GZ. I was pleased to find crawling wasn't needed (just needed to bend over a long way) and the cache was easy to spot. TFTC.
**Found on our February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**
Travelling from Greymouth to Westport today. We have not travelled this route before and are stopping to pick up several caches to mark our journey. The terrain rating for this one had us doubting where the cache could be. Wouldn't like to try and ride a wheelchair down there. TFTC.

On our way to the pancakes we stopped here to find this small cache after climbing a bit.

After spending the day up on the Denniston Plateau now time to head back to Greymouth - just collecting a few caches along the way. Could not find this one.
Parked on the other end of the bridge and walked along the footpath, then climbed underneath to find the cache. TFTC!
1 January 2020 18:44. Parked by the canoe place and walked across the bridge. Saw nothing, so read previous logs and had a flash of inspiration. Clothes now dirty, but i have a big smile on my face. Tftc
Found before starting on the track nearby. It is hard to get too. TFTC. find #574
After the beautiful Punakaiki Walk I had to find this container... and yes - I did!
Thanks for this cache and best wishes from Germany, kischte.

A 2003 cache - and Tazzie&Lizzie are no longer caching - we'd better stop for this one. Remember that it was placed before D/T ratings were used, so it automatically got given a D1/T1 rating. I'd judge it to be a D1/T3, since it involved getting dirty knees. Beautifully dry of course - a perfect spot out of the west Coast rain.

A quick stop to turn a previous blue face into a smiley. As said before, definitely not a T1 cache. I think that was what made us search on the wrong level the previous time, at a place that also matched description and where we could apply the hint.
This time it was an instant find because I suspected where the cache actually is and I was right this time.
Beautiful day out today, nice views to the river and cliffs upstream and to the ocean.

We are on day one of our tiki tour around a part of the South Island! We had settled into our holiday home, eaten supper and the rain had stopped! We needed a walk, so off we went for a walk! Of course, it started drizzling again as we got near GZ. It took a bit of searching, but eventually Mr QuiltinnAnnie found it! And, yes, we were close to traffic, but quite safe!!! We all decided that it definitely is not a terrain one cache!!!! Beautiful wild natural views here! Thanks for the hide and the smiley!!!
As others have said, this is not a 1/1, more of a 1.5/2.5. Luckily Viv is quite short, so she did the honours, all nice and dry here and as usual no signatures of Heckensturmer and Katerlyslator despite their online log.

P.S. Pictures will be added later, because of slow wifi.

We found this geocache while traveling through New Zealand. Today we drove from Greymouth to Westport. We passed in Punakaiki and were able to collect the info for the earth cache. a bit further we found Punakaiki. It was not 1/1 as expected but a lot more adventurous
. Trumans West Coast Sl was hard to find but it brought us to a wonderful spot. Thanks for these caches!

We had been out canoeing and popped up to find this cache before heading home. Took a bit to locate, but once we changed our thinking we found it. TFTC
Found with Victorousone after paddling up the river. Such an amazing trip up to river!! People honked their car horn at us while signing the log book, scared the hebby gebbies out of us!

22189 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we went from Greymouth to Nelson, via Punkaiki and we had all day, so we made many stops. Allong the road we found many caches, but we also visited the Pancaces and Windholes. The caches brought us to many special remarkable places.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Muggles did not watch what we were doing.
Found probably the remains of the box. Added a small paper and put it on the most likely location

We looked high, we looked low. We looked where it was safe and we looked where it was quite unsafe. We even found an obvious spot fir a sistema box (white planks), but no cache.
