Day 14 of my fortnight+ road trip up to Brisbane and back to Blue Mountains. Waiting for my geomobile repairs to be completed, hence more QLD geocaching.Focusing on older caches for my Jasmer calendar. And more LGAs to the west. And those randomly here or there by chance. Glad that I carry gloves as its black soot with a prickly shrub or two. TFTC geofillans
Tftc. Thanks for previous finder for replacing missing cache so I could find too.
Have tried this one once before but the cache was missing. Theres been a recent fuel reduction burn through here. Unfortunately the cache was missing again so I have replaced it at the base of there tree in the photo and covered in rocks. Wanted this oldie to continue on.Thanks geofillansFind #6374
Not sure if this cache is still here or not since there has been a recent back burn of the area..everything is singed
Eliminated a lot of trees, eventually found a pencil at the spoiler photo, yet still no cache, despite being found 2 days ago
Visiting South East Queensland for a week from Port Macquarie. Today we primarily cached around the suburbs of Brisbane, with a real mixture of hides found. We then capped it off with a late afternoon river ferry ride to South Bank, before returning to our accommodation in time to write up logs and watch Origin Game II.Somewhat of a steep walk down towards the cache, very much enjoyed the majestic views from the summit. Thanks for the cache
I'm having an amazing time visiting da Bush Girl Downunder and sightseeing some new spots with da Bush Family. Last time I was in Australia was some 13+ years ago and I still love it here. It was only my final visit all those years ago that I became a Geocacher, so I had so many caches to find now I didn't know of! I only have limited time, so I picked a few good ones to target TFTC
After having lunch up at the top went for the short walk down to this one. Logbook soaked but signable. Tftc slOn a caching holiday from Mackay. In the search of old caches and ones to fill DT grid spaces. Found TFTC SL Thanks for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
After an early morning start with alphag_25 leaving the Gold Coast and unfortunately heading home after a 3 1/2 week holiday. Ahh have to earn the money to take these holidays. Finding some of the older caches to fill in some spaces. Finished the virtual, grabbed a bite to eat and then this cache before we leave town. TFTC
We headed down the track after visiting the summit lookout. Mrs Herbz continued down the track hoping it would double back on itself. Mr Herbz decided to follow the arrow and got there first. All good here. TFTC.
Found. Log book is wet so my writing is barely legible and I've attached a photo. Number 2 for Leap day souvenir! TFTC
After enjoying the nice view in the summit we decided to make the little hike down to the botanical garden. We also wanted to find this old cache. The hike was the easy one. To find this cache a challenge. There was a Lot of vegetation after a lot of rain. After a long time of searching and studying the last logs and pictures famerlor_dragon found this old one.TFTC geovi
After paying a visit to the summit and enjoying the view, we decided to hike down the Spotted Gum Trail to the botanical garden.Due to its age, we definitely wanted to attempt this cache. The first approach wasn't far enough and we had no clue where the cache could be. Vegetation was pretty high as well - plenty of rain this year apparently. So after checking some logs, I went deeper down at pretty much the same location and could eventually locate the new spoiler pic. Without it, it would have been a massive challenge. So in the end, we found the container that had plenty of water in it and a completely soaked logbook. I was barely able to sign before I replaced it and climbed back! Thanks for keeping it alive! TFTC!
Stopped by the summit with some locals. Here with the Disney Wonder as a crew member. So glad to make a nature grab while here from the USA. Thanks for the cache.
Found it thrown clear of its hiding place: our theory, a bush turkey scratching away? We re-hid and attempted to install some anti-turkey measures. A fun cache with some tricky terrain, plus not much protection from the curious eyes of the nearby fitness freaks and mountaineering muggles.
But if a scramble down the hill, while trying to hide from muggles who thought I was crazy! TFTC!
Found during our trip to Australia. Beware of the sliding down. Thanks for the cache

It’s interesting how convenient can mean different things to different people. Certainly more convenient than the first tree I approached with unwavering conviction. Less convenient than picking up some bread and milk. Great little hide and find after a bit of a scramble!

Apologies for the late log here (12.01.24) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.Up here for the local Virtual, it would've been rude not to look for this too. I had to approach it with care but after a short while I looked up hill and yep, a pretty painless find. Nice! Thanks for a good oldie; you picked a great spot.TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
Well that was difficult. After basically sliding down the slope to GZ it took me ages to find it. It was not helped by a GPS tha jumped all over the place due to the tree cover. This cache helps fill in a gap in my hidden month grid. TFTC
It is no longer hidden at the base of a gum tree as some previous images indicate. Instead, look for a coral tree.

So pleased to find this oldie. I am only now looking at the D/T rating and I concur. I went up and down the slope several times as dusk approached spurred on by a find earlier in the day. Blinded by the hint it was not until I read the mention of the sabre tooth and it clicked. I had been surprised to encountered that tiger tiger whilst try to brace my slide down the slope. Back down for another encounter and left my mark near its heart. Thanks for the placement and smiley.
The geohub and daughter found it, doing the work for me on Mother’s Day while I visited family. They even did it in the rain! That’s love ️
Wow that was a tough find! Glad I looked back at some photos. Also, don’t wear thongs to this one!
Quite a lot of possible hiding spots around here and judging by the number of many images of different hiding locations this cache must have come around a bit over the years. Thanks for maintain this one old cache.
Brisbane and Sunny Coast, it is great to be back! I have lived here for a short period many, many years ago. At that time generally only caches at prominent spots or with plenty of favourite points attracted my attention. A lot has changed since then and I am all into the deeper caching stats since quite some time. Some years ago I wanted to put faces to names, so had planned to attend the local Mega Event and find numerous caches while being in the area. Unfortunately, the pandemic got in the way and meant that I had to cancel all travel arrangements last minute. This left me with a list of literary hundreds of caches, which included solved geoarts, caches that were worth getting to due to their old age or their rare type, challenge caches, or caches that would count towards filling my individual size and type D/T matrixes. Fortunately, this list that took months to prepare was not for nothing, as now I am finally back in the area, even if it’s just for a short trip. In the lead up to my current visit I updated my list and tried to streamline the route as good as possible to make the best out of my limited time. The grand aim aside of getting a couple more caches for filling my Jasmer calendar was completing lots of loops! This included completing my 4th and 5th overall D/T matrix loop and completing the D/T matrix using only mystery caches, and only micro sized caches and only small sized caches caches!! Of course the shabby weather couldn’t stop me from putting my plan into action. So, I am now very happy to log my find of this cache after all this effort. Thank you very much geofillans for creating and placing Mount Coot-tha! It certainly was a great trip which brought me to great caches and locations!

Enjoying the view from Mt Coot-tha. Decided to try for this cache. Whew, rough terrain! Watch out for the prickle trees!
Should have said - signed the log, TFTC! Also, picked up one of the two Geocoins. Will move it along.
Stepped off the track and slid down to the trees. Checked them all for a cache and couldn't see anything. So I went a bit further down and looking back up I could see where it was. TFTC!

Updated Difficulty & Terrain ratings to indicate it is slightly more difficult than previously indicated.
The slope can be slippery with leaf-cover, or when wet, so it is a tricky grab for some hunters.

Found eventually this morning. Took a bit of wandering to find the right tree, with the aid of the photo from 8/2/22. Once at the right spot the cache was missing! starting considering options then spotted the container in the open about 10m down hill. Put back in the place in the photo 8/2/22, with the grey rock carefully on top. Not sure if it was water, animal or muggle that moved it, have a photo of how it was left if needed. Log was ok to sign. We are travelling back to north Queensland tomorrow so keen to have resolved this old cache, thanks geofillians.
Tftc geofillans, always nice to get an older dated cache like this one.
These days the D rating would be a bit higher.
The game was certainly tougher back then

Went off the main path and regretted my choice of footware. Slid down most of the slope but stopped just in time to find the cache.

Cut a lap around the trails down to the falls then a detour off to this cache.
The saber tree host was very spiky!!
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
geofillans, I found Mount Coot-tha today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Found eventually. Friends with us losing patience. High degree of difficulty especially for a 69yo. Glad he got there. TFTC
Was a bit hard definitely start from the coordinates and if your having trouble look down the side for trodden on grass and walk down there of path keep looking at each tree and good luck!!!
Wow, this cache is in a neat little spot! Took a few minutes trying to scramble down to the many trees but finally found the right tree. I would say there are quite a few conveniently located trees. My brother stood watch for muggles, went up during sunset so many people walking up and around for the view! TFTC and adventure!
Geocache had come out of hiding spot, found nearby, hid back what I believe was original hiding spot using compass & comments.
On my way from Canberra to North Queensland with a few detours for shires. TFTC.
Great views from this mountain. Nice walk to cache.

A lot of conveniently located trees to break a slide down the hill but eventually found the correct one. TFTC
With the sunrise morning event at Mount Coot-tha, I thought it was a good excuse to then take a short walk down to this geocache, of which I had attempted previously, and fairly confident that it had disappeared in early 2021. After my early December 2021 DNF, I too had messaged the CO to offer assistance with cache replacement, and a consuquent reply at Christmas suggested that the CO would be up in the next 1-2 days, so I was content that this older geocache would not be lost. Then with a find by the group MummaBear66 and Princess1005 on 29/01/2022, I was delighted that the original cache had been found? I suspect it was Muggle65's replacement cache that may have been found instead.
I had a fairly good memory of the track down to GZ, but I wasn't prepared to be bush bashing and descending down the slope in my sliperry runners, but thankfully I didn't slip (and they didn't get too muddy). There was a lot more weeds about the place, and as Peppa had briefly mentioned, there were some thorny ivy plants nearby to GZ. However, as I had overshot GZ and come around, I could see the container pretty quickly from below. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks geofillans for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance, as well as a special acknowledgement to Muggle65 for the geocache's recent replacement. It was nice to have finally found this grand oldie 07/2003 hidden cache, of which is one of Queensland's 100 oldest yet active geocaches.

Wow! What a hike! Good exercise. After looking at the spectacular views up the top, came down to grab this one. Coordinates were jumping but we spotted the sneaky hide anyway. Nice. Thanks for keeping this oldie alive. TFTC
We went today up Mount Coot-tha. It was a bit drizzling, but stopped inbetween. We found the cache and signed the log.

I just noticed this oldie had been enabled… so a special trip up Mt Coo-tha was on for today…
Arriving within 30m of GZ I wasn’t sure if there was another more formal option, but having put a milliseconds thought into it set off anyway doing my best impression of a mountain goat…
Thanks to that last pic I recognised the caches hide and soon had it in hand… At which point my phone, having a mind of its own, decided I hadn’t been far enough down the mountain…
Tftc… perhaps a “thorns” attribute though… I don’t know what this tree is called, but those thorns got me… a couple of times…
Tftc… and thanks for keeping this oldie going…

We headed out to grab a few caches on our way home after collecting DFC from work. So, he quickly found this one on the map due to its difficulty and terrain combination to go towards completely our first loop and that is an Oldie.
Before leaving the new geocar (Track my adventures here D78QWZ) we read the description, hint, confirmed the difficulty and terrain, that this cache was in the GPS and offline list in case we lost service and pervious finder logs. DFC was directing us to where we needed to go. Once we got to GZ, we started to walk towards GZ, we were discussing about where this geocache could possibly located. This cache has been on our radar for a long time. So glad we can finally turn this into a yellow smiley.
Thankfully after a decent search we worked out we were in the incorrect place then we regrouped. Shortly, we the cache in hand, and we added our little ink mark to the logbook.

Having seen the number of DNF’s on this one subsequent to my own, I thought a message to the CO asking permission to replace this cache back to the original Coords.
I understood the situation there had been cache creep, and so in placing a new container I approached the Coords a couple of times to make sure I was true to the Coords. So this grand oldie is open for business once it has been re-enabled.
Thank you Geofillans for allowing me to reboot this one

Today, my sister was visiting from Cairns, so [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I decided to take a drive up to Mount Coot-tha summit, before then walking around Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. With minimal cloud cover, the lookout offered some great views of the city and surrounds, but it also meant it was quite warm when the sun was out. A subsequent early lunch at the botanic cafe made it a nice outing.
After visiting the summit, I decided to take a walk down to this oldie geocache. I wasn't feeling particularly confident given the long string of DNFs, but we decided to take a look nevertheless. We soon found a few trees that matched a few hints, but alas, no cache was found. We didn’t have a super detailed search, but still it was a good look, so I feel like this cache may still be here buried in amongst branches and leaves, but it is probably due for a CO check to confirm either way. Hopefully this cache can be either confirmed to be still in situ, or otherwise replaced. Thanks anyway geofillans for the cache placement.

Unfortunately GCGFK2 Mount Coot-tha got the better of echocage1 & I this time. We looked probably for longer than we should have. She’s found it but thought I’d like it being an oldie. Found the blue ribbon, found the tree with stamps on it, but no cache.
Think we found the hollow, it had stamps on the tree but No cache. Tried to message to last person who found it but no reply yet.
I find where I believe it should have been at the base of a tree with a shingle of wood covering a hole but it was not there.
Currently on holiday away from the area.
Will replace on our return home.

I believe this is missing, it's not even at the location described in recent logs near the path or at the blue "R". Will most likely need replacing
Looked high & Low and obviously need to return another day with more determination
With a bright early start I set off with Eskies5 and kestal to find some caches at Mt Coot-tha on this fine Australia Day. We had a great time, and this one I had not found so we stopped by so I could do so. Yep, it's not 'down there' it's just up there, you can pretty much reach it from the path. Nice one, thanks for the cache!
Spent ages without luck, and then made a pretty quick find after reading previous logs. I found it in a spot that doesn’t match the listed coordinates, the T rating or the hint, and I suspect there may have been cache creep/leap here, but I left it where I found it. Thanks for placing.
Finally found it after several tries! Look for the blue R and it will be easy to find.
