As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. I noticed that this cache has been in need of owner attention for a period of time well in excess of the period of "a few weeks" as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other caches from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it (using the archive listing link in the upper right) so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location.
If you plan on repairing this cache, please log a note to the cache (not email) within the next 30 days so I don't archive the listing for non-communication.

Hasnt been found since January, has had two needs maintenance requests, but no response.
Needs Archiving to free the area for someone else to place a new cache.

Looked for this last holidays. Keen to see a new one here or replacement. Happy to replace/adopt if needed.
Drat - we should have read the logs for this one before climbing all the way up here. Never mind, we live and learn!
We went to check on this cache as were last to find and no finds since. We hunted around the area and definitely wasn't where we left it. We think it needs replacing. Such a great walk we hope it is replaced.
A Nice walk around the hill side, ending up at this spot with stunning views across the bay. Pretty sure the cache has gone, as we had a good look around the obvious spots.
well worth the walk, even without the find.
If its gets replaced, I'll definitely go looking again, and will surely get a favourite point from me.

With such a direct hint we were sure we were in the right spot but couldn't find it. We hiked up for a look today with bchefj&p and nickhbnz and a few geokids. Enjoyed the walk and the beautiful views. I've walked to the Redwoods a lot but never ventured down this path. Just beautiful.
During a very nice walk to the Te Masta Peak we found this cache. It was not possible to log this in the note, because of this is totaly wet. Sorry, but tanks for the cache.
Log book so waterlogged it is a solid mass of paper and totally unusable. Needs new log and plastic bag.
After an initial find close to the bottom car park we continued along the 'Red' trail on our way to the summit. This cache location was soon encountered. I was very glad I had good footware when going to find the cache, in a break between parties of muggles, as it isn't the easiest of locations to get to. However, the log book is so wet it is probably only now of any use in papier mache, though I have managed to resurrect one of my own that was nearly as bad after a few days in an airing cupboard. Though I had some spare paper with me I didn't have a spare plastic bag I'm afraid (the plastic bag was also very wet and not sealed) so didn't attempt to leave a new log sheet in the cache. I DID clean the container lid and seals to get the dirt out that had prevented it from being closed properly, no doubt how so much water got in in the first place. Being unable to sign the log Mrs B took a photo of the cache and log book as proof of finding, which I will upload soon (once they are off the camera) to support this online log entry. TFTC
Been there and found it while introducing some guy to geo caching. But the entire cache is all wet and needs replacement I guess.
Completely full of water. Log book unusable - couldn't sign. Tipped water out but log book has died I think. A nice excuse for a rest after getting up the hill.
A good excuse for a rest at the top of the rise. Geicache container was completely filled with water. Tipped it out but logbook saturated and unusable so might need some TLC.
Took kids from class to find this. Swapped car for pen. Emptied water out of cache. Everything sodden. May need some TLC.
Great walk and awesome views.
Great walk and awesome views.
Enjoyed the walk as it was a bit off the usual tracks for us. Glad you told us pretty much exactly where to find it so we could enjoy the walk. Then Mr Swaybars walked back up to the truck, while me and kids walked down down down the main track to the edge of the farm, carpark area. TFTC
The course of our cacheday was suboptimal. To reach this cache we did a long additional way from the big redwoods via the young redwoods to the viewpoint with the cache. Due to the hint it was easy to find and we could enjoy a wonderful view. Thank you for leading us there.
After finding the Fantails and Tuis (Hawkes Bay) cache it was an enjoyable walk to find this cache. The cache was quickly spotted using the hint.

ohoh they are working very hard in this part of Te Mata. All new tracks are made...but with one problem...they are not finished. So we took one of these new tracks and halfway up....no track anymore...so we needed to made it a bit of our own, as we didn't want to go back (and up again)
Pfff we made it...don't know how...but we made it...
Have done some maintenance as CO is from Taurange . Have dried out a bit and put the logbook in a plastic bag. Hopefully that will stay dry now. It's the most important piece out of the cache anyway hahaha.
Left an airplane for next finder. To fly of Te Mata peak

First one in 2014. Happy New Year!!!
Greetings from Germany.
But the cache would need some maintenance, it's wet like a swamp.

Awesome find. Cache has got wet so signing name etc. Thanks for giving us a reason to come to this fantastic spot.
#4973. First time on this walk. Great views. Unfortunately none of Edelweiß, Vanguard's Gauss Geocoin nor SNSpencer’s Walking Geocoin #2 was in the cache. The logbook was pretty damp too. Emptied out a bit of water. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Reasonably easy find. Log very wet, only got the date done even with the pencil, needs maintenance.
Great location lovely walk through the park to find this one found very wet started new page in log with marker many thanks
Managed to locate it, but was half full of water and no trackables to be seen Needs a bit of maintenance. Nice walk thou.
Everything was really wet....tipped out water from the container, logbook is sodden and needs replaced. Thanks
Have walked this so many times before knowing about geocaching, Great walk and easy find.. retrieving was the tricky bit =] TFTC TNLN
Found this cache,(well Ruben my great nephew did,)while out for a walk up Te Mata Peak.Fantastic views from the top.TFTC.Left travel bug.
A new area for us to explore. There's an amazing network of trails here. Took a couple of wrong turns on the way, but got there reasonably quickly all things considered. It was also starting to get a little dark.
Left a pet rock - a wombat. TFTC

Great walk to do on this cooler Waitangi Day. Found this cache after zigzagging up and down the hills and after enjoying the views near GZ. As the others have said no geocoins in the cache.
Carried on to find another cache in the area and also placed a new cache.
Thanks for cache

Found on a very hot walk up to the top from the village. Nice spot to stop for a break in the shade with a nice view.
The road to the top was closed due to a accident further up, so I went to this little cache

Took the wrong route to the lookout, almost aborted but then found the lookout. Neat place, out of the way.
There were no travel bugs found in the cache, even though the site shows two in residence. Added one we've had for waaaay too long.

Great walk today along the Nature trail today. Busy on the main trail but all quiet when we got to GZ. Cache all good, TFTC. Merry Christmas!
Lovely walks in this reserve, some reasonable easy, others for active people. Magnificent views overlooking Hawkes Bay.

Found it! It is still a little wet inside the Cache container. I dried it as much as i could and logged my visit TNLN, TFTC!!
Parked at the bottom carpark this afternoon and walked up the track up the valley. Rather than go around in circles I then took the steep but direct route up to the ridgeline via the pine forest and followed the fence up to the viewpoint with the plane table. The cache was then a quick find using the hint. Returned the same way. An enjoyable cache. Signed log, TFTC
Walked the long way around the nature trails to get to the cache, up & down & round in circles....was exposed to the chill at the top. The log book was soaked, I replaced it with a notebook I had on hand. tftc
A great hike to this one, wet day so slippery in places, but worth the views along the way. Cache very wet, as documented, so could not sign and had no spare with me, sorry. TFTC
This was fun. We have often walked to the Big Redwoods and never ventured in this direction, Junior Brunton and Mum had a great time discovering this one. Unfortunately the cache was full of water and the log book has been destroyed. We were unable to sign it and everything in the cache was wet and/or mouldy. We put a the cache in a new plastic bag, but really it isnt protecting much other than the plastic container now. Sorry.
We would love to go back and put some little treasure in the cache once it is repaired.

Great find and my little sister lived it, she got to do a lil bit of cliff climbing haha
Nice spot! Fun scramble. Needs some attention: the log is a bit soggy and not really writeable onable - needs to be rescued and dried out I think before its lost forever! Turned the plastic bag inside out but not sure it'll help much.
Found on second attempt. Went into park a bit late the first time.
The cache contents are rather wet.

Awesome trek to walk off xmas lunch. Would have been better in walking shoes not jandals. No coins present in the cache, possibly taken by the previous visitors who had visited from overseas yesterday. TFTC.
No need for a replacement. Cache is still nicely tucked a way in its hiding place. A slippery but enjoyable walk to GZ. TFTC
Found when out on one of our regular walks in the Park. Bit of a scramble with dogs flying in all directions! TFTC.
Netty and I enjoyed the walk required to get to this location. I found the cache after a short search but did wonder if the terrain rating should have been higher. TFTC.
Interesting hide away place, could have done with a bottle of water along the walk as it was very hot and muggy.
Nice walk through the Nature trail, and great views from the lookout. Mrs GB wasn't keen on the GZ, and Mr GB had to get the cache on his own. Easy find when I got to it. TFTC
Nice walk through the reserve, and great views from the lookout. Mrs GB was not keen on going to the GZ, so Mr GB had to go it alone. TFTC
Up from Welly for the Sting concert (and it was great- Well done Hawkes Bay!). Popped up Te Mata to collect three caches and what a nice variety they include. A really good walk and clamber, a series of observations and questions and a nice near road trad hunt. This one involved a bit more time than the GPS initially indicated at the car park, but was well worthwhile. Really nice walk (gps wandering a bit as well) and hint vital to achieve find. Pen not working in cache. Thanks for the great walk and climb.
#567. A great walk through the bush. Those redwoods have a majestic feel about them. Found the cache easily using the hint. TNLNSL, TFTC.
Lol - bit of a mission getting here - got dropped off up at the top of the peak and made my way down - took a few wrong turns but finally found and made my way to pick up at the lower car park - thanks for a nice explore through these tracks.
Good cache! Pity the 2 coins I was looking for weren't there. Hopefully their whereabouts is tagged soon.TFTC
