tftc cache was found but seems like some muggles have broken into it. all contents are still inside although a bit water logged

Thats a big tree TFTC

25-Jun-24
My objective for today was simple, to find my geocache find number 6666. However, I had a number of other side tasks too. To collect more clues for the 'Nice Day for a Cache' and the '13th Cache'. To find more caches to help with challenges I am working on. Specifically, oldies, multicaches, a DT of 2.5/2.5, and of course an Event and CITO on this month and on the 25th. A good day out with no DNFs, 4 Lab locations, and 26 geocache finds.Parked to the north and then strolled up the trail. Was feeling warm and breathing heavy once I got to the great ridge line, where a slight breeze soon cooled me down.Definitely the largest tree in this area, which made for an easy find. Thanks for the cache, Rabbitto.Hunter

29-Mar-24
I'm home for Easter and thought that it would be nice to go for a drive up into the Dandenongs. I've been trying to solve a puzzle, and came up with a good answer, but the Geochecker didn't like it Instead, I came to find a few others in the area. It was lovely to go for a walk during golden hour. I really should come up here more often. Thanks for the cache, Rabbitto

03-Mar-24
A pleasant Sunday afternoon outing in the hills to find a few caches after dropping a family member to an event nearby. I was surprised to have the tracks completely to myself on this fine sunny afternoon. The hint certainly helped me zero in on the hide, and what an impressive specimen it is. Cache and contents in good dry condition. TFTC Rabbitto

15-Oct-23
A nice easy find while walking up the nice track during a short morning outing. TFTC Smile

02-Aug-23
In the vicinity to find a newly published cache and decided I had time for a stroll to collect some others on the map. Look forward to completing the series!

19-Jul-23
TFTC nice easy find after a big walk - parked where I could nab the three caches here. After doing the 1,000 steps I am going to sleep well tonight

06-May-23
Ok here I go on the 13th cache journey- first one in the bag and what a brilliant spot away from the bustle of 1000 steps. TFTC

25-Mar-23
I travelled much further than planned today, caching in places I had never heard of. This cache was a quick and easy find.

26-Jan-23
How amazing is this tree. Thanks for bringing me here.

28-Dec-22
A beautiful walk to GZ….I was on the lookout for snakes!
Thanks for placing the cache Rabbitto.

29-Jul-22
Why not start at no. 8. Found in a nice little hiding spot. Lovely little track. We actually parked at the other end of the track to the servo and found ok.

20-Apr-22
As others have suggested I parked behind the servo nearby and made my way up the short but fairly steep hill. I quickly found the cache in a logical spot and took some time to look at the lovely view. I wandered along the track a bit further and then headed back to the car as it began to get dark. I was very grateful for the recent rain and colder weather as this track takes you through some long grass that would be perfect hiding spots for wriggle sticks.
Thanks for the cache and highlighting this walk!

11-Apr-22
I had a late start to the day today ..was it going to rain? Yes? No? Maybe? I had gone out to attempt a nemesis cache using only the zen method .. my success and a glimpse of sunshine peeking out from the clouds gave me the encouragement I needed and I decided to attempt two nearby caches .. this one has been on my radar for a while and spurred on by my recent success, I parked nearby ( isn’t it great to have a servo in the hills) it was a nice walk up to GZ where I made a quick find .. thanks Rabbitto for placing and maintaining the cache

02-Mar-22
As GT37 was leaving this cache, in a bit of a hurry as it was starting to rain, she luckily noticed that she had the log book still in her hand. Probably just as well we hadn't made it back to the car as I know who would have had to put it back. Thanks for keeping this cache going for so long for us to find.

02-Mar-22
Such an old cache which is a must attempt to do for me. We made it to GZ just as the rain started to fall. The cache was quickly located, signed and returned to it's hide although it didn't help us hurry when I found that the cache had been returned whilst I still had the log book in my hand. Oops. The log book was put back and a quick retreat to the car was made. Thank you for placing this cache and then maintaining it for so long.

18-Feb-22
A nice pleasant walk to the GZ; the long grass in the area made me feel like a cat stalling its prey.

24-Oct-21
TFTC! Found after our walk up the lyrebird track and loop of the belview track in the afternoon. Really enjoyable walk.

03-Oct-21
Parked, climbed a wall and made the find. Great tree! Yippee bingo bango! Fun day out just beyond the burbs and lucky for me within the 15 km allowed and so along with a few other missions here I am. This was not exactly on my radar but it’s too close to ignore! Either way, it’s refreshing to be exploring the Dandenongs and wandering in the bush to make the find. In Melbs on carers duty again, so glad to to be here before the joe blakes get too active. Coordinates were good and this country gal was very happy with that. TFTC AND THE FUN.

10-Mar-21
The last of the puzzle clue hides found.
With 2 missing its fingers crossed for a final GZ. Thanks for the challenge today either way.
Might limp off home to play with the numbers. Ha.

28-Feb-21
Seen it from ages away although I think I took the hardest rout possible

21-Feb-21
Beautiful spot

21-Feb-21
Headed out to the Dandenongs with Snivelbert to attempt this series. However, we got off to a relatively late start (not saying who's fault that was) so by the time we got out here, I was resigned to not being able to do the whole series in a day, which was lucky because although we enjoyed the short stroll through the mist this one, as a nice gentle start to the day, we completely forgot to collect the hint, so will have to come back. *sigh*. Still a find is a find TFTC!

10-Feb-21
i am constantly surprised by the maps i try to navigate by
being a low-tier geocaching pleb, i possess no fancy gps but a humble simple cheap-ass phone
cheap enough that it has no ability to act as a compass
and so am forever trying to navigate treasure to treasure with the help of google and openstreetmaps

however
i am quickly learning that the mapped world oozing out of the smartphone does not always match reality
roads will turn to dust or disappear
or exist where there should be nature
dingy overgrown goat tracks appear equivalent to dual carriageways

so navigating is a constant cycle of
observe
react
rinse, repeat

as was the case here

Back in play again

31-Jan-21
Cache is now back in place after the burns. Thanks to Tank47 for rescuing and babysitting the cache whilst this took place.

13-Sep-20
Still cannot go back to replace at the moment as outside 5km

27-Mar-20
Offline for a while till a planned burn in the area takes place in the next few days. Thanks to Tank47 for running the rescue mission and looking after the cache in the interim.

14-Mar-20
We were sitting at home quite bored on this Saturday as our basketball finals had been postponed due to coronavirus, so we decided it would be a good time to go and find some caches as a family of 5. This was the last one for the day. The overgrown long grass was a bit annoying on the way to GZ, but that didn't stop Geo-Kid #2 coming up with the last find of the day. Tftc Rabbitto

08-Mar-20
This one is a bit wet inside. Hope to find the rest of the puzzle pieces.

01-Mar-20
Heading way back home from shopping at Ferntree Gully. Quick stopped here and found it. Thanks Rabbitto for placing the cache.

04-Feb-20
Heading home from work, to continue my streak I stopped here and went for the short walk, the grass was pretty long and overgrown so I kept my eyes out for wriggle sticks. Luckily none sighted and the cache was found after circling a couple of times. Log was a bit damp but still useable.

25-Jan-20
After a relatively quiet day I headed out for an early evening caching run. For some reason this cache has never made it onto my routes, so that changed today. The path up to GZ was a little overgrown but seeing the view across the Yarra Valley and an Echidna certainly took my mind off the grass seed in my socks. The cache was well hidden but thankfully it didn't take long to find. Slowly chipping away at the 13th cache! TFTC Rabbitto

29-Nov-19
Nearing the end of this adventure, I called by today and found the cache.
Thanks for the fun Rabbitto.

24-Nov-19
Nice little walk up here on a Sunday morning to get th final couple caches to piece together this series.

27-Oct-19
Bloody beautiful tree. The log book was very soggy

20-Oct-19
Out and about with Fitzelfleas and geochild. 7th of 7 caches from the 13th series today Smile A little climb up the hill soon had the cache in hand, along with some lovely views.Lovely area that I've not explored before. TFTC. Unfortunately, the log is very wet.

Out and about on a Friday arvo after knocking off early from work.
After parking behind the nearby petrol station I made the pleasant walk to Gz, log stamped and clue notes.
Cheers for the cache.

06-Oct-19
Only a few more to collect in this series, and this was next on our list. After a short walk, we began our search where our GPS pointed and came up empty handed. Checked the clue, yup, had to be the correct place. It was only when we started digging around the area, we came across the cache. Unfortunately the logbook is soaking wet and a little difficult to sign, but we did manage to scrawl our name.

Thank you Rabbitto.

29-Mar-19
Found while waiting for Oxfam team. Great views up here! TFTC!

10-Mar-19
Out for the day hiking and driving around the Dandenong Ranges with some great mates, with the main aim of tackling the rest of this "13th Cache" series.

No time for a picnic today - there's more caches to be found Smile!
Thanks, Rabbitto.

10-Mar-19
Would have been a nice view here once, a little overgrown.

Aysen was a little sick of the in and out of the car by this stage Smile

Thanks Rabbito - slowly getting there!

10-Mar-19
A quick drive to grab this one on today’s adventure. Tftc

17-Jan-19
After a long slow walk up the hill, I took a minute to let the GPSr settle and guide me directly to GZ where a cache just happened to be waiting for our name to be added to its log. TNLNSL. TFTC. Kkams

Found by The Empire + H
Heading to Mt Dandenong to check out the National Rhododendron Garden. The garden is now, not only the host to brilliantly coloured blooms of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, cherries and daffodils but, one of the last Virtual caches in Victoria for me to find. The 13th cache has been on the to-do list for quite some time now (many years in fact) and it seems even though I found a few more of the caches in this series today - I'll have to be back another day to finish it off! Thanks for the cache Rabbitto.

Trying my best to complete this series before the year ends.
Nothing quite like leaving it until the last minute. Wink
What a lovely spot here.
The long grass was a bit of a worry but all went well.
Thanks for the cache, the series and the locations you brought me to Rabbitto.
An excellent adventure.

17-Sep-18
What a great spot for a little walk and a find. We grabbed this one between Saturday’s showers, looked to the east at the reservoir and west toward the city.

31-Aug-18
One of the things I have always loved about the Dandenong Ranges is finding odd but lovely little spots that have somehow managed to escape my attention up until now.

This place is a case in point. Looking on the map, I used to live adjacent to the National Park about 500m or so SE of here, as the crow flies, and yet have never visited here before.

Admittedly this morning the weather was not terribly conducive to picnics, as I found myself being lashed by rain and wind the whole time I was here, but even so the views were still pretty sweet.

Found the cache with little trouble, signed the log, visited a trackable that only likes caches with numbers on their title, took a photo of the clue for future reference (it's taking me a while - I think this is only my fifth find in the series, over several years now) and paid my respects to the charred remains of the old picnic table.

Thanks for the cache, the views and the series, Rabbitto.

06-Jul-18
Out and about before the rain comes and this one wasn't far from my intended path of travel. Tftc

22-Apr-18
Nice quick find, I have almost found all the 13th cache series, soon I will get to the final. TFTC!

14-Jan-18
TFTC, our 1st find for 2018

22-Nov-17
Geohusband and I are loving the walls and views we are taking in on our Tuesday night geocaching dates. TFTC. Beautiful spot.

31-Oct-17
Great little walk that I've driven by for years. Always wondered what was up here. Beautiful.

19-Aug-17
Did you bring the picnic? Nope! Oh! Would have been a bit soggy anyway. TFTC

19-Aug-17
I was worried about the length of this walk, thank god it was short! TFTC Rabbitto

09-Jul-17
Have lived in this area my whole life but not explored some of these parts. Loving this series so far.

10-May-17
Having found some of this series a while ago it was time to try and progress some more. It is now the morning of the next day and we are tracking down the clues for the 13th cache.
We found the track ok along with parking and continued up the track. A bit of a search to uncover a well hidden cache. We noted the puzzle piece, signed and re hid. TFTC

05-Apr-17
Re-found a little after 10pm to get the puzzle piece info I didn't get when finding it a year and a half ago...
Cache in good condition.

13-Nov-16
#415 - 6.20pm
I've driven past here more times than I can remember, but I've never actually stopped and had a look.
It's a gorgeous spot.
So peaceful.
It was a stark contrast to the hordes I encountered at the Surf Coast Mega yesterday.
It IS a shame the picnic table has gone, but I could see where it had been.
Cool hide! Tricked me for a minute, lol.
Now that I've got a couple in this series, I think I might chase up the others. I guess I'm doing a protracted 13th Cache advent - is it too early?
Well, I don't think it's too early!
Thanks Rabbitto, for inviting me to check out this part of the hill. After the cache, I enjoyed exploring the northwest flank of the hill above the road.
Lovely.

31-Jul-16
Oh our first one and we cannot find it!!!

09-Jul-16
Good one!

26-May-16
I took a wrong turn and saw that this one was not so far away. "Ha! The cosmos is just begging me to complete this series quickly" I thought. However, for the foreigner, maps can be misleading. The effective distance between two points in this suburb seems never to be less than 17.7 times as long as the route preferred by even a very inefficient crow. The eventual stroll in the drizzle was especially interesting for someone who has never (knowingly) visited this side of the hill. Walking in the rain is underrated. The cache was ultimately fairly quickly found. Thanks again Rabbitto!

20-May-16
Quick find. Nice spot. TFTC.

20-May-16
Clever! TFTC

18-May-16
Managed a easy walk to the gz and after a short search soon had the cache, enjoyed the views while I signed the log and jotted down the clue and made my way back to the car. Thanks Rabbitto for the cache.

25-Apr-16
We were visiting our good friends, the Tank47 team who live in the hills, and we decided to grab a few local caches.
This one involved some much needed exercise however we only had half an eight for a picnic! Thank goodness we did not require a picnic table as there were only the remains of one - bolts and a couple of pieces of timber!! It would have once been a very pleasant location to partake of a mini meal.

The cache was cleverly disguised and required a short search, however Ladybug dived on it in the end. We have recorded some details for when "Ron comes".

Thanks Rabbitto for the exercise and cache in a very nice location to visit on a pleasant autumn day.

07-Apr-16
Good find

26-Mar-16
Enjoy walk toward the cache.
Collected the clue.
Thanks Rabbitto
Happy Easter

22-Mar-16
This is such a cool trail with great views, thanks for bringing me here

26-Jan-16
Nice walk, great views!

Cache was buried - wicked fun digging it out

02-Jan-16
Found it!

28-Nov-15
Found this on a late afternoon walk after going up the thousand steps.
Easy find, but this cache is no longer a "regular" size I think?

Never been up here before, very green at the moment. I can imagine the views would be great without the trees in the way - and they were pretty good down Hughes Road to the south.

Just down from this I encountered a fierce looking magpie that was standing its ground quite firmly and then chased me for a little as I went down the hill...
TFTC - it's a nice place for one.

27-Jun-15
Found. What a great little section of the park that I never new existed. For the locals this would be a great place to walk. Recent burning off has revealed great views which I imagine once the foliage returns it will be a little hard to see through. TFTC

26-Jun-15
Living hin the hills I have never stopped here thats what I love about geocaching takes you places tftc

21-Jun-15
Replaced cache today in a new spot about 10m away from the original. The original stump was completely destroyed along with the old picnic table that the cache was alongside, with the name of this cache being based around that. We found one old burned leg from the old table which we placed near the new cache hide. Thanks to Tank47, the unofficial guardians of this series for letting me know about the burn off. At least with the burn off, part of the view is back for a short period.

Moved cache co-ords to it's new spot. Cache now in it's 12th year

29-May-15
Our car got taken out for 4 weeks which we now just have back. Will be attending to shortly.

24-Apr-15
Thanks to Tank47 for having a look at this spot for us. We will have to do a recon on the area. Quite cross about them burning down both the picnic table and the stump.

23-Apr-15
The department did a fuel reduction burn on Tremont Hill and unfortunately this cache and it's hide are gone to ash. Even the picnic table was not spared. Cache owner has been notified.

30-Mar-15

This is the second of the 13 we have found! Beautiful spot

Nice walk and success in finding my first cache

31-Jan-15
Easy to find, my first cache found, easier than belmont tower

15-Nov-14
Found this one tonight my quest to finish this series of caches. I was going to a newly published night cache nearby and they changed the time so I decided that I would find this one before the night cache. Nice easy walk up in the hill and the cache was found in an obvious spot. Took clue and signed log.

Thanks for the cache Rabbitto.

Cheers!

An easy find. Picnic table looking the worse for wear. TFTC

12-Sep-14
Found with Tassie expat. TFTC

05-Sep-14
I can see why this picnic spot has been abandoned: there's no way to drive the 4WD up to it, haul out the esky and have a barbie. My first cache of my 13th cache megawhack and I climbed up here to fingers of sunshine breaking through the fog. Gorgeous.

26-Aug-14
Found tonight on a couple of quick drive-byes. Tftc
