Conditions on site have changed yet again and will I think keep changing. It is too far from our new home to maintain and (with hindsight) too far out of town for a complex high-maintenance puzzle cache. Many many thanks to all who sought it Smile

solved the first part of puzzle quite easily, but not able to finish it, in spite of 2 trips out there.Without giving the clues away,we have decided things have changed in the last year, so we were not able to get the correct coordinates.Would be interested to see if anyone else has had a problem. It appears no one has done it for a year.

After having solved the first bit quickly, the second part fell and it was off to the final for a quick find. Nice walk, TFTC

Well, this cache has been a long while in the solving. I first went out to the start point in early 2006. I had the general idea of the theme, but couldn't make out the details.
After a nights sleep, it was of course all clear as crystal; but I'd have go out again to confirm.... After that the cache got put on the back burner for about three years!
Over Christmas, I decided to get serious about the cache again. With my carefully purloined pirate's almanac I was able to work out the necessary details. However, getting the order right wasn't too easy either.
Finally, the geochecker agreed with me. Took the family off for the journey to the cache, which was found without trouble.
Cache is in good order, clean and dry considering how few visitors come this way.
- TB, logging a few TB's through the cache.
Thanks for the fun!

Enlisted the help of Greenblat to solve this one. One wonders at the "mind" that creates this sort of puzzle Wink Way way cool.

Made the one trip out to GZ for a smooth find. Cords bang on.

Thanks for the cool cache.

Cache is holding up well, preformed some maintenance Cool.

While perusing a dusty copy of the Pirate's Almanac, discovered that there was a way of solving this without having to sail the toyota in over the bar on 2 separate trips for the planetary aligments mentioned on the treasure map. Plundered together with TWS, the cache is in good condition considering how long since the last vistors. This was a one of the most challenging & fun puzzles I've done to date. T4TC!

Another epic banaari cache successfully completed today.

Puzzle was solved many months ago. First visit to WP1 was when the bats were in and we got it all wrong. Returned a few days later when they came out to play and got even more confused counting the jewels. Then left it on the back burner for ages.

Bumped into TT and got him verify our workings last week, apparently we had two jewels correct and the other two wrong. From there it was relatively easy to get a sensible answer for a probable final GZ.

Headed out in the early evening with the incoming tide to test our theory. Fortunately for us the worked out co-ords were bang on. Found in the first place we looked. Contents safe and dry. Thanks for an interesting nautical cache for us land lovers.

Well this cache has been a loooooooong time in the completing.

Started on it when first published, but got annoyed by the numerous revisions to the code. The cache had been found, so the urgency dissapeared. Finally made the journey to wp1, but stuffed up the retreival of information. Sad
Several months later made another journey to wp1 but someone had stolen the diamond. Thinking this was a temporary setback I resigned myself to another visit some time in the future. Sad

It wasn't until yesterday that I was made aware the listing had changed to take into account the dissapearance of the diamond, so a deep dig into the archives produced the information required to complete the cache. Smile

Made our way to the GZ today and searched, and searched, and searched. There were several strong utterings about flax bushes. After 30 minutes we were beat, and decided on a helpline due to the remote nature of the cache. Was somewhat embarrassed when the helpline described the hide and I found I was standing on it! Yippie !!!!!!!!! found at long last.
Like Nedd before us we had the code solved soon after we started caching - much later took the next step on a dark and chilly night but alas somebody had stolen the diamonds. It then sat in the unsolved basket until Banaari changed the code and calc's. It all came together quite quickly and as there was some other business out that way it was tidied up.
Cache in very good order.
Thanks Banaari for a great challenge that has kept our attention for all the time we have been caching.
Cheers TT

Confident we got the coordinates right but without a GPS, just printed out a satellite image of correct coords, too many flax around! Will have to borrow a GPS from a friend and try again. Enjoying trying to crack this one!

Cache not AWOL after all! Found on 2nd visit Smile
Started this months ago, soon after I started geocaching, by decoding and interpreting the symbols. Then put it aside until summer rolled around before I did the obligatory data gathering trip - a couple of problems emerged which were not existing when the cache was laid. Thanks Banaari for setting me straight to permit calculation of the cache coordinates, after many false starts.
Then it was back yesterday for an unsuccessful hunt, where I was concerned rampant erosion may have put paid to it.
Finally today it revealed itself after a couple of minutes search, the contents still in pristine condition after eight lonely unfound months. TNLNSL
Cheers for a brilliantly conceived and executed puzzle cache. This one is a classic, and hopefully the problems I experienced can be sorted out.

I am advised that one of the clues, and possibly the cache itself, are AWOL. Will be investigating in the next few days... watch this space.

Yeeeh Haaaa! Finally found it.
I had the mechanics of this worked out (at home) the day after it appeared, (the original version) on gc.com and I think I surprised banaari when I sent a message outlining my interpretations the next day.
However I did not get to the site until a week or so later when the weather was so violent my wife was nearly blown over the edge. We failed to properly sort the clues and had to make another visit in better circumstances.
After some help and discussion with banaari we returned with a final position worked out but had to abandoned that hunt less than 100 metres from GZ when stopped by rising waters.

I planned to visit again yesterday but my better half had other priorities and then, by great good fortune, overnight another cache in the general area popped up offering 2 for the price of one.

Today a beautiful windless and cloudless day, if a trifle cool, saw me reach GZ where I initially missed finding the container but persevered and finally after 15 minutes or so later, I had it.

The approach to GZ today seemed markedly different. In winter it is quite, slippery and trecherous so searchers need to take care.

TNLNSL T4TC banaari I really enjoyed solving this one, I would have found it sooner if it was not quite so far out.

Accompanied by Mrs. St. Ouens and youngest Ouenette, we set out on the final leg this afternoon dodging between showers.
A very pleasant if slippery walk along the beach (helps to walk on the mussels or oysters for grip).
Found without any problem, and again a well stocked cache by Banaari. Swopped an aluminium lizard key ring and a karabiner for the paper weight which was real treasure for the Ouenette.
Took TB.
This was an excellent cache, with lots of subtle nuances which without the help of Tufty and Navigull I would not be writing this log. However, everything you need is provided in the decoded note - just read it carefully and properly.

Set off at 5:30am from the North Shore and arrived at the right time. Calculated a new end point which looked OK....but then turned out to not be so.
Confused I "dialed a friend" and worked out I had two of the jewels in the wrong sequence. With new co-ords input I looked up to see.... the tide right up - this was going to have to wait for ANOTHER day.
For those that follow, all the information you need is in the instructions; read carefully and follow explicitly. I have now twice resorted to getting clues from others that in reality were quite unnecessary if I'd paid proper attention.
This really is a very good cache.

Hmmn.
No problem deciphering the flags and spotting two of the three elements required, although suspect I saw the third in the distance.
But then the maths bit got me quite confused; and so did Tufty's comment.
Calculated a number of the required length and it seemed to give suitable co-ordinates but a 1.5km walk proved otherwise.
Back to the drawing board and now this is two Banaari caches in an incomplete state!

Visited last night. Everything present and correct Smile

Am advised that one of the clues may have gone; temporarily or otherwise, will investigate.

Went out to solve this one last night. Got the coordinates we needed, but will come back in the daylight to track this one. A team effort by skiff, kaimai and Outdoor Annie. Skiff and Kaimai are nolonger trainee teachers, but real ones!

Great cache! - once everything makes sense Wink. I went in from a friends place, who lives just around the corner. A hardy seasoned pirate could probably do this one just with his Nautical Alamanac.

Yippee!!SmileSmile Yahoo!!Big GrinBig Grin A FTF!!CoolCool It's been a long time since the previous one. This one was well earnt. I have to admit to having a clue being elaborated on. Thanks banaari. I thought the original clue about doing multiplication should have been left in. It doesn't take much to multiply two large numbers together by hand though most cellphones, these days, have got a calculator on them.

Anyway, it was a great challenge though it did make me go out there four times but they were because of my errors (not reading the clues carefully enough). To get to the cache please take heed off the warning given.

Cheers, banaari, for the great challenge and for the well hidden cache.

Multiple feedback indicates this one's tending towards the frustrating end of spectrum. Since the cache is so far out of town, I've re-engineered things to make success somewhat more probable.

15-Jan-06
hmmmm, the description & clue changed again... and again - since we left this morning...
Anyway - went out there, couldn't make the ends meet, we're not in the jewellery business unfortunately... Shame, as it was a long drive.

Great a puzzle I could solve. Did it, then noticed it had a terrain of 4. T'aint fair. I'll have to wait till t'other'arf is well again. Nice puzzle - looking forward to seeing where it takes us.

Oh $*%&, another hour of decoding!!!!!

14-Jan-06
I've updated the instructions to make things a little clearer, and changed the means by which the final coordinates are generated to make it easier to do in the field.
