I am guessing that Craitbuls Oven was an oven yesterday and the cache is now toast.

With the help of others I was at the final of this quest, I parked up and made the walk to GZ, although it was rather slippery due to the recent rains I remained in tack, GZ is an interesting location but fits with this whole area, the cache was easily spotted as it stood out a bit. Cache and contents are all good

Today was my last day in the south east for the long weekend before heading back to Adelaide. With 2 events, one in Mount gambier and one In Naracoorte I focused my day around that area. All up 52 finds for the day.

Thanks for the cache

I visited this cache with FeatherWaite on day 3 of a caching trip from Adelaide to south-western Victoria/south-eastern South Australia.

After a warm, but reasonable morning, the weather turned nasty with very hot and windy conditions until a cooler change very late in the afternoon. With fire and travel warnings also being received via automated SMS’, we had to alter our plans and were not able to visit a number of the caches that we had initially targeted. Nevertheless, we did manage to find a selection of traditional, multi, virtual, unknown and earthcaches.

We had noticed that this one has a NM log on it and may well be gone soon, so we made some enquiries to gather the coordinate information we needed and set off late in the afternoon when it had cooled down significantly.

After a short walk, it was a very steep and a awkward scramble down to GZ. Oddly, the scramble back up seemed a lot easier. A nice one to have found.

Thanks The Rizzos for the cache.

Found during a caching trip with e.gregory1 to south-western Victoria and south-eastern South Australia for a few days. Day 1 saw us travel from Adelaide to Keith, the back-roads past Bordertown to Frances, Edenhope, Harrow, Coleraine, Wannan, Hamilton, Byaduk, Koroit and down to Warrnambool. That night we camped out behind the coastal dunes west of Warrnambool after collecting a sprinkling of local caches. On day 2 we returned to find a few caches around Tower Hill before heading through Port Fairy to Portland, spending the rest of an unpleasantly hot and windy day around Portland and camping out nearby. On day 3 we drove from Portland to Nelson with a detour to Dartmoor, then back to Ewen Ponds, Port MacDonnell, and a circuitous route up to Mt Gambier with a solid days' caching culminating in some rewarding finds around the Blue and Green Lakes. We were very lucky to locate a very pleasant campsite a few kilometres out of town in Xanthorrhoea (grass tree) mixed eucalypt woodland for the night. The final day saw us travel to Millicent to complete the SFE Challenge series, then to Kingston, Salt Creek, Meningie, Tailem Bend, Murray Bridge and return back home. All in all a very eventful and fruitful trip with some great cache finds, some easy drive-bys, challenging tree climbs, a number of strenuous walks and visits to many scenic locations. We found an assortment of traditionals, puzzles, multis, earthcaches, letterboxes and virtuals, including a rewarding first-to-find, a wide range of difficulty-terrain combinations and detours to locate some unloved caches.
Wow, what a scramble to GZ! Knew we were close when we spotted the bee-hive. Nice natural feature, much appreciated. Thanks for the cache The Rizzos!

After some scuba diving in a local Mount Gambier Sinkhole today, I had a bit of time grabbing some geocachers and hiking around the rim.

I had visited the posted coordinates a month ago during one of my Mount Gambier visits, and answered the required questions. However upon further research, I realised that the three other geocaches required had all been archived. I reached out to a few friends, and so had some numbers passed to me for the reason that there was no other way to complete this cache.

Hence this geocache was one of my targets for this afternoon, and made the jog around and down the hill. A bit of tree/bush bashing, and sure enough arrived at GZ. Strangely enough, the container was open and contents scattered around. Nothing taken, so likely an animal or something? I was surprised to see this cache do quickly since it hadn't been found in over a year.

The site itself is pretty cool, and some cool caves nearby. At the end of the day, this geocache cannot be completed at the moment unless numbers are provided from others. Maybe this geocache can be rewritten slightly to allow it to live on? Thanks.

With the other three geocaches in this series archived, this geocache cannot be completed without the help of others. Consequently, the finding method needs to be updated to allow a current method to solve.

Enjoying a mini break in Mt. Gambier with all the great locations to visit as well as plenty of caches on offer , we worked our way steadily through the local multi's and presolved puzzles in the short time we had in the Mount. This one was a mission and a half but "oh" so worth it in the end! Great views were had by one half of the team as he scrambled around on this epic adventure in this amazing location
Thanks The Rizzos for the series.

It has taken me 21 months to try for this one having found Craitbuls Quest #3 on 14/3/15. I had planned to make my approach from above but on my own, very glad I joined forces with 3 other intrepid cachers today (think 59 is about as old as I want to be climbing up to this one) and we headed up the wall.
I found myself in the lead at first and lead the party through some thistles that was not appreciated by the shorts wearer. It was a real scramble at time and we even came to a halt at one steep section till a way forward was found. A likely spot was stumbled upon but it was not GZ. After a bit of a search I sought some hints from a phone a friend which I shouted out to my fellow searchers as we had split up a bit by then. Shortly after one of the team found an object mentioned on a previous finders log so that was a good sign, not long after came the welcome call of "found it". It turned out we had gone too high and were above GZ so had to go on a bit and then back down to it.
The bees are still there but didn't worry about 4 geocachers near them. Going down was a lot quicker, more or less straight down, not always in control and this time I found some blackberry thorns which drew blood.
I wont forget this cache in a hurry and would not hesitate to join forces with the other 3 on any other level 4 terrain caches.

Mogni, brisal5 and Mary from Aussie M & M were out and about determined to do some hard but special caches. Mogni had solved this cache several years ago, we all climbed as close as possible to Berrins Peak. On orders from mogni and brisal5, I stayed at the high up base camp. Mogni and brisal5 headed up a little further and brisal5 made the final push. I took some photographs of the lovely spot near GZ. Mogni mentioned the ground giving way below her feet. The rocks were typical of previous activity thousands of years ago here. Great place for a cache, fun walking, sliding and crawling to and from this one. Sorry that Mark couldn't be here for this one. He would have loved it. We did note that the previous logger was not in the log book. Another favourite point for a great cache.

Visiting mogni for the weekend with aussie M & M. Today was our exercise day with a walk up to the centenary tower and a few higher terrain caches to be conquered. Cool.
This one we approached from below although an approach from above seemed shorter. No tracks here except those made by wildlife. We lot footing a few times on the loose slopes but surprisingly no daks were split or blood spilt. Red Face GZ is a fantastic spot but be aware there is an active beehive within 5 metres of of the cache. Extracting the cache I could feel a cool draft coming out the crevice. Wondered how far back it went? A fantastic cache with the last entry in the log book almost 3 years ago. Cache still in very good condition despite few visits, or perhaps because of! Thanks The Rizzos. a Fav of mine. Big Grin

Out with brisal5 and Aussie M & M on a day of grabbing a few caches that we have missed on previous outings.
I had found all the clues many years ago, but of course put them in a secure location.... anyhow got them again and planned a outing with friends. Although there appears one finder before us in the last three years no mark in log.... Anyhow a great cache, well worth the effort to get here.
Thanks

Found during a 3 day cache run to Mt Gambier with Astro and Freddo.

A great time was had, especially at the dinner.

After 2 five terrain and a four and half we thought a four terrain would be a walk in the park.

Not so took a while to get there and a great spot.

What an amazing location for a cache. We finally got to this one after what it seemed like years of work. It did NOT dissapoint, even though we felt like we'd been dragged backwards through a bush to get there.

Found with the dynamic duo Freddo and TeamWaldron. Thanks for the fun!

I only had plastic dinosaurs in my swap bag so decided not to swap out any of these for the swag in this cache. Thanks to The Rizzos and clear skies from TeamAstro.

PS the bees were not a problem today.

Unbelievable cache location. We left the sward and headed down like an express. In the end we got to 0m and there was a cache. And bees. Everything in good conditions.

i have found the old "Molten Valley" cache with the "clue" needed to solve this cache and will return it to rizzo for relocation seeing there is another cache placed right on top of it.

After doing the first 2 , we just had to have a crack at the final. After an hour plus of climbing & sliding & scratching our heads we came across a likely looking area, & after a little climbing & sliding & using some electrical cable to absale domn we found a very cool spot & what do you know the prize we were looking for Very Happy
A very fun morning hunting in such a beautiful area for this cache geoteen & i reckon this is one of the Mounts best caches & would love to see #3 back up in action so more people can enjoy this adventure.
Your caches are why we got sucked into this caching caper , thanks again Rizzos

WaHoo Yip Yip Yahoo !
After beginning my journey to find Craitbuls final hideout in 2008, I've finally managed to sign the log.
This was my second visit to GZ after having a slide followed by a tumble resulting in a painful damaged shoulder aborted my attempt last year to make this my 500th find.
I missed it for my 750th and then 800th so I was in Mount Gambier with an hour to kill, so why not make it my 831st.
I came in from a different route to last time and with only knowing a general location on a line over a kilometre long(#3 was archived before I found it), I fluked the find in the second place I looked.
Took an Emu left by Dak and left a boxed key ring.
It's been a great adventure and very satisfying to finally complete.
Thanks Rizzo for the challenge even if it was greater than originally planned.

hey rizzos. how about changing this one to a traditional so people can still find it?

10-May-11
Being one of the few to have found this, I reckon it would be great to open it up as a traditional, as it's a top cache that is rather unloved.
I'd rather do 1 of these than 10 of the drive by's that are around today!

10-May-11
No no no I'm planning on having another go for my 700th since I nearly killed myself attempting it for my 500th

10-May-11
Replacing number 3 would make it a lot easier though !!!

Now it’s truly an extreme cache.
Without clue No. 3 (archived) the GZ is a line 1649m long.
We borrow a GPS to get the bearing, and to eliminate some of the locations.
Than we used all of the available clues from the description and previous logs to narrow the search a little bit more. We had a couple more attempts without the GPS and without success, although we thought that we found the right area. So today we had another go - and bingo we found it.
It was very very satisfying.
Sorry bucketeer – we bit you to it, but at least you know that it’s possible to find it.
I was considering posting some clues, but decided against it for now. Good luck.
Really great cache.

Found at 12.35am, on a cold wet and windy night,
A delightful walk to GZ,
Many years ago, GZ was visible from the walking track that passed within 20m, remnants of the track are still visible.
A fitting conclusion to the series, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Third of only four caches on my last day in Mt Gambier (clean-up day). Today, I'm cleaning up some that I've been working on during my visit. Having logged the three preliminary caches in the series, it wouldn't have seemed right to go home without having a go at the final prize. I made my way to the jumping off point, and started the perilous trek downward. For some reason, my GPSr just wouldn't settle down, and on three occasions, it told me GZ was only 1m away. 30 seconds later it would say the cache was 16m away! Also, it couldn't make up its mind about the direction of GZ. This was very frustrating, as it is impossible there to just walk around to get a proper directional fix. I knew I was looking for a certain geological feature, so at least I would know when I had arrived at GZ.

The trouble was that when the GPSr said I was at GZ, there was no such feature in site. I kept going down further and further, very slowly and carefully. A couple of times I thought of giving it up, but when I was only 6m from the prize, I just couldn't do it. (By the way, 6m in this terrain can be a long way!) Eventually, I arrived at a spot where I could see a likely candidate about 10m away. Thankfully, this proved to be correct, and I found the cache at 1315. (Scojohara must be evil indeed to put a Shipwrecked TB into this cache!) I saw no bees (or bee's Wink) near GZ. I had forgotten to take water with me, and the exertion in 35° C temperature had me gasping for a drink by the time I arrived back at the car. My advice: take water with you! The scramble back up was infinitely easier than the trek down--no needle to follow, so you can take the quickest route out. Thanks to The Rizzos for the cache, and for pushing me further than I would ordinarily go to log a cache. My favourite cache in the series was #2: it's a gem! [^] Cheers, dak.

what a slip what a slide. thankfully the co-ords andrew and i had were 190m off, as we would have bailed in this!!!!

got to GZ, then andrew remembered that he was afraid of bee's

We made our own track back to the car, and took the shorter/easier trail back.

plenty of molt and lava around

found today with Setsujoku with the rizzos in tow. Completed the puzzle the day after the cache was placed but never got around to getting up here. Driving around with these guys was a perfect oportunity. Yes rizzo is a mountain goat. I can recommend the hands and knees method on the way out. TNLNSL. cheers Rizzos

Found at 1.30pm GAFF3. Holey moley! Is this how out of towners are treated in Mt Gambier. We were really unsure of our calcs, but in the end jumped in/over and had a go. Eventually we found the well hidden cache which at first I had missed as I was just pooped. Thanks The Rizzosfor a great series and showing us the sights of the town. Took: Pig, Left: Piglet.

A first to find for Scojohara
Found on my second attempt today. Found a much easier path to gz this time Smile

This a fantastic location. It rained quite heavily while I was there but was protected by surroundings.

Excellent cache Rizzo.

Three words... AWESOME CACHE RIZZO.

Had a ball finding this. A great little hide in a very special spot. Would like to explore this area a little more however to fat and unfit. Found this in the pouring rain in a desperate attempt to reach my magical 500.

Well done on an excellent cache Rizzo... although i suspect that the bar has been raised just that little bit more again.

Keep 'em comin.

Collected all the numbers from the previous caches and went on my merry way to find this cache. I just have one question for you Rizzo. What was it like as a Mountain Goat in your former life??????
I think I had the correct coordinates so will need to go back at another time.
