20/11/11 1:36 PM Find #651 I've found fellow cyclists to be a friendly lot. Twice now as I'm waiting to sign a logbook a passing cyclist has asked if I'm ok...yep! All good here, just taking a break Wink This cyclist had a small engine mounted on his bike frame which I think is a good idea. Returned cache to its hiding spot....TFTC.

The Monday before Melbourne Cup day is always a great day to take off from work. It left me on my own without kids or other commitments. I started my run at about 3 pm in the afternoon and made a great time of it. This time I brought the mountain bike along to grab a few caches on bicycle paths. It was all going well until my puncture at about 10 pm in the evening. Well from then on I just went for some easy drive bys with short walks. The run was a good solo effort picking up quite a number of caches. There were only a few DNF’s so it was well worth the effort. This cache was one I found tonight. Thanks chewinprickles for the cache.

One of my 'tasks' in a Geocaching sense for upcoming winter is to complete this Series created by 'chewinprickles' and to do so, as is my want, on foot - and it looks like quite some plodding awaits me. I've started a little early, still being autumn but I was in the 'neighbourhood' so to speak and I plodded for the first time along a section of the Federation Trail in 'search and find' misson. Being a western suburbs lad, I was sort of used to the stringent aromas but struth, even on this mild autumn day such 'perfumes' were not stringent but astringent! After 'admiring' all the overhead Electrical wires and cables, nearly getting bowled over by a couple of recalcitrant Cyclists who had eyesight issues, I reached the location of the Cache and thought, could you not find a more depressing place (in a joking sense) to place a Cache? Nonetheless, after a fossick about amidst the debris, the Cache was to hand, the Log filled, the bit of the Code written down and it was off back toward another couple of Caches in the series nearby. Note: bring 'Peg' and attach to nose next time. I actually enjoyed the plod to the cache and the reading of the labour that took place to build not only the modern Trail but the sewer that went before. Thank you to 'chewinprickles' for my first 'find' of your Series. The 'challenge' begins. TQP

790. Found after a stroll between the Mountain of shipping containers and a mountain of what looks like recycled plastic and glass, signed log 1:30pm. chewinprickles - Thanks for another interesting Cache

A couple of feral cats took off as we approached this one. Is that a mountain of recycled glass? Cache could do with a clean out as its a bit cluttered. SL TFTC

Out and about with Sis today who lives in the area. We did this one of foot and we needed to end up our day with a find. The smell was bad today and we tried to work out what sort of dumping area this was. Made a quick retrieve and gladly got back to the car.

This was my eighth find on my quest for 900 caches today so only two to go. An easy find but was glad of that because of the smell here today. Quickly signed the log and the long walk back to the geomobile.

Thanks chewinprickles only two more to go.

Found at 1330. After walking 600m to last one, this time I parked 750m and made the walk to GZ. If ever there was a spot that lived up to it's lofty poo title it was here. I think there must have been something a bit dead on the other side of the fence, but either way, the cache was found. On to the next...just up the track 800m.

Thanks.

Intended to finish off the series by "Pounding The Pooh Path" tonight, wandered into this one just on dusk. As I drove around I could help but notice a certain 'tang' in the evening air, it got stronger to the point of near overwhelming as a got closer, wasn't till I got to the cache that I realised why.
Took a bit to find it as again all the clues hints and anything else that may have helped is sitting in the car over 1/2Km away.
Filled in the log and shoved the GPS, pen, car keys, torch, find stickers and my wallet back in my pocket as i headed back to the car, started to wonder how far PTPP9 was from here got out the GPS, searched every pocket for the torch, bugger I have dropped it as I stowed all my guff near the GZ. About turn and trundle back about 200m and start searching, damn a torch would have helped, eventually found it in the last of the fading light but not before I planned to list it as "left near a cache as a swap".

The night went down hill from here, back at the g-buggy I found I didn't have PTPP9 loaded to either the car nav or the hand held, it must have been off line when I did the download about 3 weeks ago before leaving home. Headed off to PTPP10 but couldn't get a stable fix, it was 21:45 so home time.
May not get a chance tomorrow before I leave but hopefully they will still be active on my next visit down this way.

Thanks for the series Chewinprickles and give my regards to Edi next time you're up that way.

I have been wanting to do this series for a long time however the weekend weather for the past couple of months was nothing to be desired.
Today was finally the day, warm and not too windy. We decided to do this series in reverse. This was the 3rd cache we found at 3.05pm..

Big girlie Tractors Don't Cry came to visit.

Found by Bob at 1740

My last PTPP cache for the day - and I've now done 7 and have a pretty good idea of the location of the final - I'll have to make the effort to get back to this area and nail the last few while I'm still a bit fired up. I've got a few left to do around Werribee, so I'll try to get back within the next month or two. I spotted more bunnies on the way to this one - and even a couple of cats which didn't seem particularly feral so probably lived in the large container yard across the viaduct. The cache was another quick find, but I must report that the log, while dry, has been particularly wet at some stage and now resembles a lump of papier mache. At least the clue was still quite legible.

Thanks once more chewinprickles

Liked the name of the clue, good hint! As I didn't have a bike, I thought I'd use a Ripstik, a 2 wheeled skateboard to get there quicker. Am I the first cacher to ride 1.5km on one to get a cache? Twas a lot of fun anyway, and I still have to go back there to get the rest on a bike. Looking forward to getting the series. TFTCSL

Last cache for the day. I was due to head home and had time for one last walk. The smell hadn't bothered me that much today but it was quite stong here. I also saw plenty of birdlife scavaging around the rubbish.

Log is dry but a bit mouldy.

Continuing the walk down from numbers 10 & 9 to find this one sitting nicely as decribed.

The log is not wet, so no problem with signing but was very hard to unfold and then fold up again to replace in the cache. Might need to be looked at.

As other have indicated, the cache is not water tight and the log book is completely soaked. So much we couldn't get it open to write our name.
You may need to bring another clue too as the water has penetrated the clue sheet and while still readable, may end up mouldy.
Enjoy the ride Razz

Hey theres only 10 caches to find on the bike how hard can it be, C@W agreed so off we went........ Getting close to the end now ( I hope ). Getting dark overhead. Will it rain before the end or will that be the final straw for the day? Strange viewing all the factories from a different angle. Try to talk to C@W but its hard to talk to someone who just grunts back to you... Unable to write in log due to it being saturated.

Took advantage of a beautiful Melbourne autumn day to explore the bike trails and pick up a few caches. Had a great time doing this series. Didn't have enough time to get the whole set, so will be back in a few weeks. Thanks!

Found @ 13:25. 10th of 13 for the day while riding the Federation Bike trail from Werribee back to town. Ninth of twelve logs for the day by bike. I had been told that I would have to cross two fences thisarvo, and owing to a Magellan overshoot, I thought this was the second one. I groaned; Geez, I hate 'em in rocks (or blocks of concrete)! I had a sniff around, but came up dry. Then I looked at my GPSr, and it pointed away from where I was. I soon found the cache at 1650. Coords were spot on. It's a micro, so I made no exchange. Thanks to chewinprickles for the cache.

Foundat 12.25pm GAFF3. The wind was getting stronger and at this spot Rabbitto and I were struggling to find the cache until we looked a bit harder. Thanks chewinprickles.

Dear ChewinPrickles,

We found your cache today at 12:25pm as the ninth of thirteen on the Pprass/Rabbitto Pedal the Poo Path Friday. We thought that this one may have been missing until we used the hint and then we weren't so sure until we finally located it. After we found it a dusty rainy storm hit and we dashed for the shelter of the nearby tunnel for lunch. Thanks for the cache.

Kind Regards,

D B-A

Found 12:10, it was a bit of a toss up as to wether our car park for PTPP 9 was closer to this cache or the road at the other end of that section of track. In the end we opted for the latter and after a pleasant stroll the cache was quickly found.

TNLN, thanks chewinprickles

Very quick and easy find, but whoops, I must have dropped my pencil at the last cache. Doh! Wrote very crudely in dirt on a stick (no it's not poo) to show I was there and took a photo of the clue. Time to get to work now, I'll have to save the rest for another day.
