Lane Cove was hidden on the 18th May 2000 which made it the first geocache on Australian soil. Geocaching Australia had a small celebration in 2010 called the 10th Anniversary of Geocaching in Australia. 20 years after the first Australia geocache was placed we are now marking the 20th anniversary of Geocaching in Australia. To help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Geocaching in Australia, the 2020 team at Geocaching Australia have worked together to create the 2020 Game of Games rewards which are 12 monthly games based on finding and hiding geocaches at Geocaching Australia.

Geocaching Australia has minted a special 20th Anniversary 2020 Game of Games pathtag to be made available as a reward to participants who qualify and are randomly selected to receive the reward.

To qualify for this month you will need to:
Virtual Events
Due to the recent COVID-19 Pandemic and the general advice that gathering in large groups is not recommended, if you are not comfortable with travelling and meeting others at a physical event, then you may create and log a "Virtual" attendance event where you can make your attended without leaving your home. This will be in the spirit of this event and this month which celebrates the anniversary of Geocaching Australia.

Why the 28th of March?
Geocaching Australia opened its doors on the 28 March 2003 at 4:01 pm when ideology made their first registration in the Geocaching Australia forum. At that stage we were only a forum with no geocache listing capability, but nonetheless, we were born on that day, so with 20 years of Geocaching in Australia, and 17 years of Geocaching Australia itself you are celebrating our birth and the 20th anniversary of geocaching.
