GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo is a game where geocaching garden gnomes (known as GeGnomes) will race around the world accumulating finds, moves and distance in order for their owner to be crowned GeGnomic King or Queen.
The game requires you to hide a moving geocache on Geocaching Australia on the 1st of December 2015 and then you can sit back and watch as your GeGnome travels Australia and the world. You can also help other GeGnomes by finding and moving them along at Geocaching Australia.
The game software will keep an automatic track of your GeGnome and will automatically calculate distances and stops as your GeGnome moves around the country.

What are the GeGnomes up to?
- List of all known GeGnomes sorted by distance from home
- GPX file of all known GeGnomes
- ZIP GPX file of all known GeGnomes
- A map of all known GeGnomes
What to do?
- List a moveable geocache at Geocaching Australia.
- Your GeGnome must be a garden gnome. A real garden gnome. Not a plastic box you call a garden gnome. A genuine, real life, bone fide garden gnome.
- Publicly tag your GeGnome via your geocache page with gegnome2 in order to enter the game.
- Set your GeGnome to have a hidden date of 1 December 2015.
- Publish your GeGnome on 1 December 2015.
- Check the co-ordinates of your GeGnome are correct by checking it on the geocache page map.
- Assist other GeGnomes by finding them and moving them along.
Rules of the game
- Your GeGnome must be a genuine, bone fide garden gnome. It may be store bought or hand crafted.
- Caches for the competition must be published on 1 December 2015 Australian Eastern Daylight Time (Geocaching Australia Time).
- Geocaching Australia has the facility to automatically publish your GeGnome on 1 December 2015. Check the wiki for how to achieve this.
- The game administrators decision is final.
- You may find and move your own GeGnome during the game period.
- Caches must be found and hidden by the same geocacher (i.e. no mailing the GeGnome to another geocacher to hide).
- There is no limit to the number of times a geocacher can find / move the GeGnome provided there are at least two other finds / moves in between.
- If the GeGnome has not moved within 7 days and you were not the last geocacher to find or move it then the "rule of two other finds / moves" does not apply and you are free to move the GeGnome again.
- If the GeGnome has not moved within 14 days, even if you were the last geocacher to find or move it then you are free to move the GeGnome again.
- If a geocacher moves your GeGnome overseas and it remains unfound overseas for 1 week or more, the GeGnome mover may move your GeGnome back to the country of origin without breaking the "2 moves" rule.
- There is no limit to the distance other geocachers can move the GeGnome.
Etiquette
- Avoid rehiding a GeGnome far from active geocachers territory as it basically exits the gnome from the race
- When rehiding a GeGnome get good co-ordinates. Seriously. Don't dump and run. Get co-ords as you would a permanent GeGnome.
- When making your log against a GeGnome include a good hint so the finder can identify whether it's been moved, muggled or just a bad GPS day.
- This is a challenge of moving GeGnomes along, not trying to make them impossible to find, so help you fellow players out by making the task enjoyable
- Please avoid hiding movable caches near existing Groundspeak or Geocaching Australia geocaches. At Groundspeak geocaches they go missing as rubbish or taken as trades. At Geocaching Australia geocaches the other geocache ends up travelling as well which it's not supposed to. So please find a location away from any existing geocaches (except of course other movable geocaches) to keep the GeGnomes in play for as long as possible.
- Do not leave GeGnomes at the site of the Chrome Gnome along Melbourne’s Peninsula Link freeway. VicRoads frequently attend and destroy gnomes which are left at this location.
